Accurate species-level identifications underpin many aspects of basic and applied biology;however,identifications can be hampered by a lack of discriminating morphological characters,taxonomic expertise or *** approaches,such as DNA"barcoding"of the cytochrome c oxidase(COI)gene,are argued to overcome these ***,nuclear encoding of mitochondrial genes(numts)and poor amplification success of suboptimally preserved specimens can lead to erroneous *** insect group for which these molecular and morphological problems are significant are the dacine fruit flies(Diptera:Tephritidae:Dacini).We addressed these issues associated with COI barcoding in the dacines by first assessing several"universal"COI primers against public mitochondrial genome and numt sequences for dacine *** then modified a set of four primers that more closely matched true dacine COI sequence and amplified two overlapping portions of the COI barcode *** new primers were tested alongside universal primers on a selection of dacine species,including both fresh preserved and decades-old dry ***,Bactrocera tiyoni mitochondrial and nuclear genomes were compared to identify putative *** numt clades were identified,three of which were amplified using existing universal *** contrast,our new primers preferentially amplified the"true"mitochondrial COI barcode in all dacine species *** new primers also successfully amplified partial barcodes from dry specimens for which full length barcodes were *** we recommend these new primers be incorporated into the suites of primers used by diagnosticians and quarantine labs for the accurate identification of dacine species.

Techno-economic comparison of three technologies for precombustion CO2 capture from a lignite-fired IGCC

This paper compares the techno-economic performances of three technologies for CO2 capture from a lignite-based IGCC power plant located in the Czech republic:(1)Physical absorption with a rectisol-based process;(2)Polymeric CO2-selective membrane-based capture;(3)Low-temperature *** evaluations show that the IGCC plant with CO2 capture leads to costs of electricity between 91 and 120€·MWh−1,depending on the capture technology employed,compared to 65€·MWh−1 for the power plant without *** results in CO2 avoidance costs ranging from 42 to 84€·tCO2,avoided−1,mainly linked to the losses in net power *** both energy and cost points of view,the low-temperature and rectisol based CO2 capture processes are the most efficient capture ***,partial CO2 capture appears as a good mean to ensure early implementation due to the limited increase in CO2 avoidance cost when considering partial *** go beyond the two specific CO2-selective membranes considered,a cost/membrane property map for CO2-selective membranes was *** map emphasise the need to develop high performance membrane to compete with solvent ***,the cost of the whole CCS chain was estimated at 54€·tCO2,avoided−1 once pipeline transport and storage are taken into consideration.

From the view of underground coal mining safety system, it is extremely important to continuous monitoring of coal mines for the prompt detection of fires or related problems inspite of its uncertainty and imprecise characteristics. Therefore, evaluation and inferring the data perfectly to prevent fire related accidental risk in underground coal mining (UMC) system are very necessary. In the present article, we have proposed a novel type-2 fuzzy logic system (T2FLS) for the prediction of fire intensity and its risk assessment for risk reduction in an underground coal mine. recently, for the observation of underground coal mines, wireless underground sensor network (WUSN) are being concerned frequently. To implement this technique IT2FLS, main functional components are sensor nodes which are installed in coal mines to accumulate different imprecise environmental data like, temperature, relative humidity, different gas concentrations etc. and these are sent to a base station which is connected to the ground observation system through network. In the present context, a WUSN based fire monitoring system is developed using fuzzy logic approach to enhance the consistency in decision making system to improve the risk chances of fire during coal mining. We have taken Mamdani IT2FLS as fuzzy model on coal mine monitoring data to consider real-time decision making (DM). It is predicted from the simulated results that the recommended system is highly acceptable and amenable in the case of fire hazard safety with compared to the wired and off-line monitoring system for UMC. Legitimacy of the suggested model is prepared using statistical analysis and multiple linear regression analysis.

Currently available and well known materials treated by a special procedures can provide superior properties in the comparison to presently obtained *** treatment procedures are efficiently developed with the use of physical simulators *** simulators allow treatment optimization on small scale laboratory samples which can be subsequently transferred to real production processes later ***,there is always need of successful transfer from small scale laboratory experiments to real production of for example metal *** the current paper thermo-mechanical procedure developed for 34CrNiMo6 steel under laboratory conditions is applied to metal sheets *** were obtained very promising properties on the bulk material samples processed in the physical simulator,the challenge was to obtain similar properties on a real metal sheets by a transfer of laboratory procedure to metal sheet production *** the considered case the combination of tensile strength and elongation were especially required for considered application in a train *** order to achieve excellent elongation for high strength hardened steel,very fine microstructure has to be attained through the thermo-mechanical process *** good results were achieved on produced metal sheets.6% elongation was attained allowing the possibility of further material processing,*** of sheets,with tensile strength exceeding 1500 *** study presented here confirms usefulness of thermo-mechanical simulators for new procedures *** the use of the simulator of thermaldeformation cycles a materials with optimized properties for certain application can be efficiently developed.

Celiac disease(CD) is now recognized as a common disorder among Middle Eastern(ME) and North African(NA) *** aim of this review is to assess the available data regarding CD in the ME and NA and to compare this information with that of Western countries.A literature review was performed using the electronic databases PubMed and Medline(1950-2008) as search engines,and "celiac disease" was used as a Mesh *** search was limited to ME and NA *** prevalence of CD in ME and NA countries among low risk populations is similar to that of Western countries,but is higher in high risk populations such as those with type 1 *** is underestimated because of lack of clinical suspicion and lack of patient *** presentations in term of gastrointestinal,hematologic,skeletal,and liver manifestations are similar between both populations except for a high prevalence of short stature in some ME and NA *** studies have addressed atypical or silent *** in the West,diagnosis is initially made by serological tests and is confirmed by small intestinal ***-free diet is the main mode of treatment with a higher apparent adherence rate than in the *** disease complications result from *** disease is strongly associated with HLA DQ2 and to a lesser extent with HLA DQ8 *** conclusion,CD prevalence is underestimated,with little data available about its malignant *** parameters in the ME and NA are otherwise similar to those in Western countries.
