Hovering ability is one of the most desired features in Flapping-Wing Micro Air Vehicles （FW-MAVs）. This paper presents a hybrid design of flapping wing and fixed wing, which combines two flapping wings and two fixed wings to take advantage of the double wing clap-and-fling effect for high thrust production, and utilizes the fixed wings as the stabilizing surfaces for inherently stable hovering flight. Force measurement shows that the effect of wing clap-and-fling significantly enhances the cycle-averaged vertical thrust up to 44.82% at 12.4 Hz. The effect of ventral wing clap-and-fling due to presence of fixed wings produces about 11% increase of thrust-to-power ratio, and the insect-inspired FW-MAV can produce enough cycle-averaged vertical thrust of 14.76 g for lift-offat 10 Hz, and 24 g at maximum frequency of 12.4 Hz. power measurement indicates that the power consumed for aerodynamic forces and wing inertia, and power loss due to gearbox friction and mechanism inertia was about 80% and 20% of the total input power, respectively. The proposed insect-inspired FW-MAV could endure three-minute flight, and demonstrate a good flight performance in terms of vertical take-off, hovering, and control with an onboard 3.7 V-70 mAh Lipo battery and control system.

This paper for first time proposes an isogeometric analysis (IGA) for free vibration response of bi-directional functionally graded (BDFG) rectangular plates in the fluid medium. Material properties of the BDFG plate change in both the thickness and length directions via power-law distributions and Mori-Tanaka model. The governing equation of motion of BDFG plate in the fluid-plate system is formulated basing on Hamilton's principle and the refined quasi three-dimensional (3D) plate theory with improved function f(z). The fluid velocity potential is derived from the boundary conditions of the fluid-plate system and is used to determine the added mass. The discrete system of equations is derived from the Galerkin weak form and numerically analyzed by IGA. The accuracy and reliability of the proposed solutions are verified by comparing the obtained results with those published in the literature. Moreover, the effects of the various parameters such as the interaction boundary condition, geometric parameter, submerged depth of plate, fluid density, fluid level, and the material volume control coefficients on the free vibration behavior of BDFG plate in the fluid medium are investigated in detail. Some major findings regarding the numerical results are withdrawn in conclusions.

The main purpose of this paper is to present numerical results of static bending and free vibration of functionally graded porous(FGp) variable-thickness plates by using an edge-based smoothed finite element method(ES-FEM) associate with the mixed interpolation of tensorial components technique for the three-node triangular element(MITC3), so-called ES-MITC3. This ES-MITC3 element is performed to eliminate the shear locking problem and to enhance the accuracy of the existing MITC3 element. In the ES-MITC3 element, the stiffness matrices are obtained by using the strain smoothing technique over the smoothing domains formed by two adjacent MITC3 triangular elements sharing an edge. Materials of the plate are FGp with a power-law index(k) and maximum porosity distributions(U) in the forms of cosine functions. The influences of some geometric parameters, material properties on static bending, and natural frequency of the FGp variable-thickness plates are examined in detail.

To achieve high work performance for compliant mechanisms of motion scope,continuous work condition,and high frequency,we propose a new hybrid algorithm that could be applied to multi-objective optimum *** this investigation,we use the tools of finite element analysis(FEA)for a magnificationmechanism to find out the effects of design variables on the magnification ratio of the mechanism and then select an optimal mechanism that could meet design requirements.A poly-algorithm including the Grey-Taguchi method,fuzzy logic system,and adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system(ANFIS)algorithm,was utilized mainly in this *** FEA outcomes indicated that design variables have significantly affected on magnification ratio of the mechanism and verified by analysis of variance and analysis of the signal to noise of grey relational *** results are also predicted by employing the tool of ANFIS in *** conclusion,the optimal findings obtained:Its magnification is larger than 40 times in comparison with the initial design,the maximum principal stress is 127.89Mpa,and the first modal shape frequency obtained 397.45 ***,we found that the outcomes obtained deviation error compared with predicted results of displacement,stress,and frequency are 8.76%,3.6%,and 6.92%,respectively.

Although fibers are used only infrequently as an additive in concrete in the construction industry,fiberenhanced concrete is known to provide a wide range of advantages over conventional *** main objective of this study was to investigate the influences of fiber type and content on the mechanical properties and durability of highperformance fiber-reinforced concrete(HpFRC)designed using a novel densified mixture design algorithm with fly ash and rice husk *** types of fiber,including polypropylene(pp)fiber,steel fiber(SF),and hybrid fiber(HF),were *** on the results,the inclusion of fibers decreased HpFRC flowability,regardless of fiber *** the compressive strength of HpFRC with 1.6%pp fiber content was 11.2%below that of the reference HpFRC specimen at 91 d of curing age,the 91-d compressive strengths of both SF and HF-enhanced HpFRC specimens were significantly better than that of the reference HpFRC ***,the HpFRC specimens incorporating SF and HF both exhibited better splitting tensile and flexural strengths as well as less drying shrinkage than the HpFRC specimens incorporating pp ***,the fiber-enhanced specimens,especially those with added SF,registered less surface electrical resistivity and greater vulnerability to chloride ion penetration than the reference HpFRC specimen.

Herein,a two-node beam element enriched based on the Lagrange and Hermite interpolation function is proposed to solve the governing equation of a functionally graded porous(FGp)curved nanobeam on an elastic foundation in a hygro–thermo–magnetic *** material properties of curved nanobeams change continuously along the thickness via a power-law distribution,and the porosity distributions are described by an uneven porosity *** effects of magnetic fields,temperature,and moisture on the curved nanobeam are assumed to result in axial loads and not affect the mechanical properties of the *** equilibrium equations of the curved nanobeam are derived using Hamilton’s principle based on various beam theories,including the classical theory,first-order shear deformation theory,and higher-order shear deformation theory,and the nonlocal elasticity *** accuracy of the proposed method is verified by comparing the results obtained with those of previous reliable ***,the effects of different parameters on the free vibration behavior of the FGp curved nanobeams are investigated comprehensively.
