Online Computation Offloading and Trajectory Scheduling for UAV-Enabled Wireless Powered Mobile Edge Computing

The unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)-enabled mobile edge computing(MEC) architecture is expected to be a powerful technique to facilitate 5 G and beyond ubiquitous wireless connectivity and diverse vertical applications and services, anytime and anywhere. Wireless power transfer(WPT) is another promising technology to prolong the operation time of low-power wireless devices in the era of Internet of Things(IoT). However, the integration of WPT and UAV-enabled MEC systems is far from being well studied, especially in dynamic environments. In order to tackle this issue, this paper aims to investigate the stochastic computation offloading and trajectory scheduling for the UAV-enabled wireless powered MEC system. A UAV offers both RF wireless power transmission and computation services for IoT devices. Considering the stochastic task arrivals and random channel conditions, a long-term average energyefficiency(EE) minimization problem is formulated.Due to non-convexity and the time domain coupling of the variables in the formulated problem, a lowcomplexity online computation offloading and trajectory scheduling algorithm(OCOTSA) is proposed by exploiting Lyapunov optimization. Simulation results verify that there exists a balance between EE and the service delay, and demonstrate that the system EE performance obtained by the proposed scheme outperforms other benchmark schemes.

Equilibrium charge and triboelectric coefficient of spheres in a rotating container

Contact electrification occurs in many granular material systems due to particle-particle and particle-wall contacts.In this paper,we used a simple device to characterize the electrification of different spheres in a rotating spherical container.The charge of the spheres was quantified by a Faraday cup after rotating for various time and the disperse behaviors of charged spheres were recorded by a camera.The effects of the rotational time,sphere size,rotational speed,sphere material,and relative humidity on the equilibrium charge and triboelectric coefficient were analyzed.The results show that the equilibrium surface charge density is independent of the sphere size and the rotating speed,whereas the larger rotating speed enhances the triboelectric coefficient.It is also shown that charge relaxation constants are two orders of magnitude lower than the charge generation constants for all spheres at a low relative humidity.The increase of water molecules in the air was found to result in the decline of charge generation constant and the rise of charge relaxation constant,which together cause the decrease of the equilibrium surface charge density.

Microcos paniculata: a review on its botany, traditional uses, phytochemistry and pharmacology

The shrub Microcos paniulata(MPL;Tiliaceae), distributed in south China, south and southeast Asia, yields a phytomedicine used to treat heat stroke, fever, dyspepsia, diarrhea, insect bites and jaundice. Phytochemical investigations on different parts of MPL indicate the presence of flavonoids, alkaloids, triterpenoids and organic acids. The MPL leaves, fruits, barks and roots extracts showed antidiarrheal, antimicrobial and insecticidal, anti-inflammation, hepatoprotective, cardiovascular protective, blood lipids reducing, analgesic, jaundice-relieving and antipyretic activities, etc. The review aims to summary the traditional uses, botany,phytochemistry, pharmacological bioactivity, quality control, toxicology and potential mechanisms of MPL. Additionally, this review will highlight the existing research gaps in knowledge and provide a foundation for further investigations on this plant.

The dislocation structure of slip bands in deformed high entropy alloy nanopillars

Remarkable diversity is observed in dislocation interactions that are responsible for intermittent and sudden crystal slips.While large crystal slips can be easily observed on the surface of deformed crystals,unraveling the underlying dislocation interaction mechanisms,however,has been a longstanding challenge in the study of single-crystal plasticity.A recent study demonstrated that the sluggish dislocation dynamics in the high entropy alloy(HEA)of Al_(0.1)CoCrFeNi enables the observation of slip bands for a direct link to dislocation avalanches in a nanopillar.Here,we further examined the dislocation structure of slip bands in the HEA nanopillars oriented for single slip.Experimental evidence was provided on the dislocation organization in a slip band based on groups of primary dislocations,secondary dislocations,and dislocation pileups.The results were compared with the previously proposed slip band models.The unique aspects of the HEA that enable such observations were also investigated through an examination of the dislocation microstructure and its response to applied forces in the HEA nanopillars.

Genetic Analysis of Two Novel GPI Variants Disrupting H Bonds and Localization Characteristics of 55 Gene Variants Associated with Glucose-6-phosphate Isomerase Deficiency

Objective:Glucose-6-phosphate isomerase(GPI)deficiency is a rare hereditary nonspherocytic hemolytic anemia caused by GPI gene variants.This disorder exhibits wide heterogeneity in its clinical manifestations and molecular characteristics,often posing challenges for precise diagnoses using conventional methods.To this end,this study aimed to identify the novel variants responsible for GPI deficiency in a Chinese family.Methods:The clinical manifestations of the patient were summarized and analyzed for GPI deficiency phenotype diagnosis.Novel compound heterozygous variants of the GPI gene,c.174C＞A(p.Asn58Lys)and c.1538G＞T(p.Trp513Leu),were identified using whole-exome and Sanger sequencing.The AlphaFold program and Chimera software were used to analyze the effects of compound heterozygous variants on GPI structure.Results:By characterizing 53 GPI missense/nonsense variants from previous literature and two novel missense variants identified in this study,we found that most variants were located in exons 3,4,12,and 18,with a few localized in exons 8,9,and 14.This study identified novel compound heterozygous variants associated with GPI deficiency.These pathogenic variants disrupt hydrogen bonds formed by highly conserved GPI amino acids.Conclusion:Early family-based sequencing analyses,especially for patients with congenital anemia,can help increase diagnostic accuracy for GPI deficiency,improve child healthcare,and enable genetic counseling.

Clinical Analysis and Mental Health Survey of Hemophilia Carriers:a Cross-sectional Study

Objective:Hemophilia carriers(HCs),who are heterozygous for mutations in the clotting factor Ⅷ/clotting factor Ⅸ gene(F8 or F9),may have a wide range of clotting factor levels,from very low,similar to afflicted males,to the upper limit of normal,and may experience mental health issues.The purpose of this study was to provide genetic information on mothers of hemophilia patients and to understand the clotting factor activity and phenotype of HCs.Additionally,we aimed to investigate the mental health status of HCs in China.Methods:A total of 127 hemophilia mothers,including 93 hemophilia A(HA)mothers and 34 hemophilia B(HB)mothers,were enrolled in this study.Long distance PCR,multiplex PCR,and Sanger sequencing were used to analyze mutations in F8 or F9.Coagulation factor activity was detected by a one-stage clotting assay.The Symptom Checklist 90(SCL-90,China/Mandarin version)was given to HCs at the same time to assess their mental health.Results:A total of 90.6％of hemophilia mothers were diagnosed genetically as carriers,with inversion in intron 22 and missense mutations being the most common mutation types in HA and HB carriers,respectively.The median clotting factor level in carriers was 0.74 IU/mL(ranging from 0.09 to 1.74 IU/mL)compared with 1.49 IU/mL(ranging from 0.93 to 1.89 IU/mL)in noncarriers,of which 14.3％of HCs had clotting factor levels of 0.40 IU/mL or below.A total of 53.8％(7/13)of HA carriers with low clotting factor levels(less than 0.50 IU/mL)had a history of bleeding,while none of the HB carriers displayed a bleeding phenotype.The total mean score and the global severity index of the SCL-90 for surveyed HCs were 171.00(±60.37)and 1.78(±0.59),respectively.A total of 67.7％of the respondents had psychological symptoms,with obsessive-compulsive disorder being the most prevalent and severe.The pooled estimates of all nine factors were significantly higher than those in the general population(P＜0.05).Conclusions:The detection rate of gene mutations in hemophilia mothers was 90.6％,with a median clotti

Recognition of trench basins in collisional orogens:Insights from the Yarlung Zangbo suture zone in southern Tibet

Trench basin,as an important sedimentary repository in oceanic subduction zones,documents faithfully the evolution of paleodrainage and paleogeographic information.Because of the frequent intense deformation during and after deposition,the recognition of trench-basin strata in orogenic belts is quite challenging.Several trench-fill deposits have been identified from the Yarlung Zangbo suture in southern Tibet,which can be classified into two types based on major differences in formation timing and tectonic setting.The first type developed during subduction of the Neotethyan oceanic slab in the Cretaceous(e.g.,the Jiachala,Rongmawa,and Luogangcuo formations),and the second type developed during the initial stage of the India-Asia collision in the Palaeogene(e.g.,the Sangdanlin-Zheya formations).The former was originally deposited on the subducting oceanic crust and then accreted as tectonic slices into the subduction complex;the latter was deposited unconformably on the continental margin of the subducting Indian plate and then involved in the subduction complex during the continental collision.Typical lithologies of trench-basin fills include abyssal chert,siliceous shale,silty to sandy turbidites,debris flows deposits,and slump deposits without carbonate.Detritus feeding these basins were chiefly from the uplifted terrane in the upper plate.This paper summarizes the geological features of trench basins developed in southern Tibet and proposes criteria for recognizing trench-basins in collisional orogens.

Subharmonic and Combination Resonance of Rotating Pre-deformed Blades Subjected to High Gas Pressure

The present paper deals with the investigation of dynamic responses of a rotating pre-deformed blade in four cases of resonance,including two subharmonic resonances and two combination resonances.The dimensionless gas excitation amplitude is assumed to share the same order with the dimensionless vibration displacement.Four cases of resonance are confirmed by examining the secular terms.The theoretical analysis framework is established for each resonance case based on the method of multiple scales.The original dynamic system is integrated numerically by the Runge–Kutta method.The frequency components and phases obtained from fast Fourier transform of the numerical response are used to verify the theoretical results.For the purpose of contrast,modulation equations are also integrated numerically.In all four resonance cases,the theoretical results agree well with the numerical simulation.Parameter studies are conducted to clarify the effects of system parameters on the perturbation curves.Various results are obtained for the rotating blade.A quasi-saturation phenomenon occurs in both combination resonances of summed type and difference type,and the corresponding limit value of the second-mode response can be reduced by decreasing the external detuning parameter.The quasi-saturation phenomenon of rotating blade only appears with high gas pressure.The subharmonic resonance of second mode and the combination resonance of summed type are hard to excite in practice compared with the other two cases.

A subband excitation substitute based scheme for narrowband speech watermarking

We propose a new narrowband speech watermarking scheme by replacing part of the speech with a scaled and spectrally shaped hidden signal. Theoretically, it is proved that if a small amount of host speech is modified, then not only an ideal channel model for hidden communication can be established, but also high imperceptibility and good intelligibility can be achieved. Furthermore, a practical system implementation is proposed. At the embedder, the power normalization criterion is first imposed on a passband watermark signal by forcing its power level to be the same as the original passband excitation of the cover speech, and a synthesis filter is then used to spectrally shape the scaled watermark signal. At the extractor, a bandpass filter is first used to get rid of the out-of-band signal, and an analysis filter is then employed to compensate for the distortion introduced by the synthesis filter. Experimental results show that the data rate is as high as 400 bits/s with better bandwidth efficiency, and good imperceptibility is achieved. Moreover, this method is robust against various attacks existing in real applications.
