The phylogenetic relationships of introduced Aphelinus （Hymenoptera： Aphelinidae）, biological control agents of the Russian wheat aphid （Homoptera： Aphididae）

Several species of Aphelinus have been introduced to the US from the Old World for biological control of the Russian wheat aphid, Diuraphis noxia （Modvilko）. Reproductive incompatibility has been observed among populations collected from different geographic areas. We examined whether or not the reproductive incompatibility between strains of A. asychis was caused by distant phylogenetic relationships. Ribosomal DNA sequences of internal transcribed spacers 2 （ITS2） were analyzed in several species of Aphelinus collected from multiple sites of Europe and Asia. Yhe phylogenetic analysis showed that strains within the species A. albipodus and A. asychis are not monophyletic, and two clearly divergent clades were revealed among sequenced samples. Our results suggest that the reproductive incompatibility between three exotic strains ofA. asychis was more likely caused by divergence of phylogeny than by symbiotic bacteria.

Targeted therapies include small-molecule inhibitors and monoclonal antibodies, have made treatment more tumor-specific and less toxic, and have opened new possibilities for tailoring cancer treatment. Nevertheless, there remain several challenges to targeted therapies, including molecular identification, drug resistance, and exploring reliable biomarkers. Here, we present several selected signaling pathways and molecular targets involved in human cancers including Aurora kinases, PI3K/mTOR signaling, FOXO-FOXM1 axis, and MDM2/MDM4-p53 interaction. Understanding the molecular mechanisms for tumorigenesis and development of drug resistance will provide new insights into drug discovery and design of therapeutic strategies for targeted therapies.

Enabling innovation and access to health technologies remains a key strategy in combating infectious diseases in low-and middle-income countries(LMICs).However,a gulf between paying markets and the endemicity of such diseases has contributed to the dearth of R&D in meeting these public health *** the pharmaceutical industry views emerging economies as potential new markets,most of the world’s poorest bottom billion now reside in middle-income countries-a fact that has complicated tiered access ***,product development partnerships-particularly those involving academic institutions and small firms-find commercial opportunities in pursuing even neglected diseases;and a growing pharmaceutical sector in BRICS countries offers hope for an indigenous base of *** innovation will be shaped by 1)access to building blocks of knowledge;2)strategic use of intellectual property and innovative financing to meet public health goals;3)collaborative norms of open innovation;and 4)alternative business models,some with a double bottom *** such resource constraints,LMICs are poised to develop a new,more resource-effective model of innovation that holds exciting promise in meeting the needs of global health.

As dipyranylidenes are excellent hole carriers, applications in organic solar cells or organic light emitting diode are envisaged. In the present study, we investigate the morphology of 2,2＇,6,6＇-tetraphenyl-4,4＇-dipyranylidene （DIPO-Ph4） deposited under vacuum on a silicon nitride （Si3N4） substrate, a paradigmatic system for the study of molecular crystal/inorganic substrate interfaces. Samples with various coating ratios and different thermal treatments were prepared. The films were characterized by atomic force microscopy and scanning transmission X-ray microscopy to gain insight into material growth. The results show a change in orientation at a molecular level depending upon the evaporation conditions. We are now able to tailor an organic layer with a specific molecular orientation and a specific electronic behavior.

The optical performance of a receiver has a great influence on the efficiency and stability of a solar thermal power *** of the literature focuses on the optical performance of receivers with different geometric shapes,but less research is conducted on the effects of critical geometric *** this paper,the commercial software TracePro was used to investigate the effects of some factors on a conical cavity receiver,such as the conical angle,the number of loops of the helical tube,and the distance between the focal point of the collector and the *** factors affect the optical efficiency,the maximum heat flux density,and the light distribution in the conical *** optical performance of the conical receiver was studied and analyzed using the Monte Carlo ray tracing *** make a reliable simulation,the helical tube was attached to the inner wall of the cavity in the proposed *** results showed that the amount of light rays reaching the helical tube increases with the increasing of the conical angle,while the optical efficiency decreases and the maximum heat flux density *** increase in the number of loops contributed to an increase in the optical efficiency and a uniform light *** conical cavity receiver had an optimal optical performance when the focal point of the collector was near the aperture.

Different kinds of media spiked with monkeypox virus(MPXV)were subjected to heat inactivation at different temperatures for various periods of *** results showed that MPXV was inactivated in less than 5 min at 70℃and less than 15 min at 60℃,with no difference between viruses from the West African and Central African *** present findings could help laboratory workers to manipulate MPXV in optimal biosafety conditions and improve their protocols.

Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation(aHSCT)is a standard validated therapy for patients suffering from malignant and nonmalignant hematological ***,aHSCT procedures are limited by potentially life-threatening complications,and one of the most serious complications is acute graft-versus-host disease(GVHD).During the last decades,DNA sequencing technologies were used to investigate relationship between composition or function of the gut microbiome and disease *** if it remains unclear whether these microbiome alterations are causative or secondary to the presence of the disease,they may be useful for diagnosis,prevention and therapy in aHSCT ***,we summarized the most recent findings of the association between human gut microbiome changes and acute GVHD in patients receiving aHSCT.
