Clinical characteristics and mortality risk prediction model in children with acute myocarditis

Background Acute myocarditis(AMC)can cause poor outcomes or even death in children.We aimed to identify AMC risk factors and create a mortality prediction model for AMC in children at hospital admission.Methods This was a single-center retrospective cohort study of AMC children hospitalized between January 2016 and January 2020.The demographics,clinical examinations,types of AMC,and laboratory results were collected at hospital admission.In-hospital survival or death was documented.Clinical characteristics associated with death were evaluated.Results Among 67 children,51 survived,and 16 died.The most common symptom was digestive disorder(67.2%).Based on the Bayesian model averaging and Hosmer–Lemeshow test,we created a final best mortality prediction model(acute myocarditis death risk score,AMCDRS)that included ten variables(male sex,fever,congestive heart failure,left-ventricular ejection fraction4,fulminant myocarditis,abnormal creatine kinase-MB,and hypotension).Despite differences in the characteristics of the validation cohort,the model discrimination was only marginally lower,with an AUC of 0.781(95%confidence interval=0.675–0.852)compared with the derivation cohort.Model calibration likewise indicated acceptable fit(Hosmer‒Lemeshow goodness-of-fit,P¼=0.10).Conclusions Multiple factors were associated with increased mortality in children with AMC.The prediction model AMCDRS might be used at hospital admission to accurately identify AMC in children who are at an increased risk of death.

Aerial target threat assessment based on gated recurrent unit and self-attention mechanism

Aerial threat assessment is a crucial link in modern air combat, whose result counts a great deal for commanders to make decisions. With the consideration that the existing threat assessment methods have difficulties in dealing with high dimensional time series target data, a threat assessment method based on self-attention mechanism and gated recurrent unit(SAGRU) is proposed. Firstly, a threat feature system including air combat situations and capability features is established. Moreover, a data augmentation process based on fractional Fourier transform(FRFT) is applied to extract more valuable information from time series situation features. Furthermore, aiming to capture key characteristics of battlefield evolution, a bidirectional GRU and SA mechanisms are designed for enhanced features.Subsequently, after the concatenation of the processed air combat situation and capability features, the target threat level will be predicted by fully connected neural layers and the softmax classifier. Finally, in order to validate this model, an air combat dataset generated by a combat simulation system is introduced for model training and testing. The comparison experiments show the proposed model has structural rationality and can perform threat assessment faster and more accurately than the other existing models based on deep learning.

The rodent running-wheel recording apparatus is a reliable approach for studying cir-cadian rhythm.This study demonstrated how to construct a simple and intelligent running-wheel recording system.The running wheel was attached to the cage's base,whereas the Hall sensor was attached to the cage's cover.Then,the RJ25 adaptor relayed the running signal to the main control board.Finally,the main control board was connected to the USB port of the computer with the USB connection.Data were collected using the online-accessible,self-created software Magturning.Through Magturning,generated data were saved and exported in real time.Afterward,the device was validated by collecting data on the locomotor activities of mice under dif-ferent light conditions.In conclusion,this new device can record circadian activity of rodents.Our device is appropriate for interdisciplinary investigations related to biological clock research.

Cesium removal from radioactive wastewater by adsorption and membrane technology

Radiocesium is frequently present in radioactive wastewater,while its removal is still a challenge due to its small hydrated radius,high diffusion coefficient,and similar chemical behavior to other alkali metal elements with high background concentrations.This review summarized and analyzed the recent advances in the removal of Cs+from aqueous solutions,with a particular focus on adsorption and membrane separation methods.Various inorganic,organic,and biological adsorbents have undergone assessments to determine their efficacy in the removal of cesium ions.Additionally,membrane-based separation techniques,including reverse osmosis,forward osmosis,and membrane distillation,have also shown promise in effectively separating cesium ions from radioactive wastewater.Additionally,this review summarized the main approaches,including Kurion/SARRY system+desalination system and advanced liquid processing system,implemented after the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant accident in Japan to remove radionuclides from contaminated water.Adsorption technology and membrane separation technology play a vital role in treatment of contaminated water.

Background:Lung adenocarcinoma is a very pervasive histological form of lung cancers,and inhibiting metastasis is crucial for effective treatment.In this investigation,we explored the functional interaction of miR-30a-5p and the putative transcription factor 2 of the homeodomain(PHTF2)in dictating the aggressiveness and metastasis of lung adenocarcinoma.Method:We collected clinical samples to evaluate the expression patterns of miR-30a-5p and PHTF2 in lung adenocarcinoma along with normal tissues.Cellular experiments including cell count kit(CCK)-8 growth assay,apoptosis analysis,migration and invasion examinations were performed to assess the aggressiveness of lung adenocarcinoma cells.Furthermore,we examined tumorigenesis and metastasis in a nude mouse model.Results:MiR-30a-5p exhibited downregulation pattern in lung adenocarcinoma samples.Transfection of miR-30a-5p mimic in lung adenocarcinoma cells resulted in the suppression of malignant characteristics.Notably,the administration of miR-30a-5p mimic also curbed tumorigenesis and metastasis of lung adenocarcinoma cells in animal model.Moreover,PHTF2 was found to be a molecular target of miR-30a-5p.Upregulating PHTF2 counteracted the tumor-suppressive effect of the miR-30a-5p mimic.Conclusion:miR-30a-5p functions as a tumor-suppressive molecule while PHTF2 acts as an oncogenic factor in the development and metastasis of lung adenocarcinoma.Therefore,targeting miR-30a-5p and PHTF2 could be developed into a promising therapeutic approach for inhibiting metastasis in lung adenocarcinoma.

Identification of the key genes and mechanisms associated with transcatheter arterial chemoembolisation refractoriness in hepatocellular carcinoma

BACKGROUND Transcatheter arterial embolisation(TACE)is the primary treatment for intermediate-stage hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)patients while some HCC cases have shown resistance to TACE.AIM To investigate the key genes and potential mechanisms correlated with TACE refractoriness in HCC.METHODS The microarray datasets of TACE-treated HCC tissues,HCC and non-HCC tissues were collected by searching multiple public databases.The respective differentially expressed genes(DEGs)were attained via limma R package.Weighted gene co-expression network analysis was employed for identifying the significant modules related to TACE non-response.TACE refractoriness-related genes were obtained by intersecting up-regulated TACE-associated and HCC-associated DEGs together with the genes in significant modules related to TACE nonresponse.The key genes expression in the above two pairs of samples was compared respectively via Wilcoxon tests and standard mean differences model.The prognostic value of the key genes was evaluated by Kaplan-Meier curve.Multivariate analysis was utilised to investigate the independent prognostic factor in key genes.Single-cell RNA(scRNA)sequencing analysis was conducted to explore the cell types in HCC.TACE refractoriness-related genes activity was calculated via AUCell packages.The CellChat R package was used for the investigation of the cell–cell communication between the identified cell types.RESULTS HCC tissues of TACE non-responders(n=66)and TACE responders(n=81),HCC(n=3941)and non-HCC(n=3443)tissues were obtained.The five key genes,DLG associated protein 5(DLGAP5),Kinesin family member 20A(KIF20A),Assembly factor for spindle microtubules(ASPM),Kinesin family member 11(KIF11)and TPX2 microtubule nucleation factor(TPX2)in TACE refractoriness-related genes,were identified.The five key genes were all up-regulated in the TACE non-responders group and the HCC group.High expression of the five key genes predicted poor prognosis in HCC.Among the key genes,TPX2 was an independent prognostic factor.Four cel

Preparation of Chemically Recyclable Poly(ether-alt-ester) by the Ring Opening Polymerization of Cyclic Monomers Synthesized by Coupling Glycolide and Epoxides

Polyester and polyether are two key oxygenated polymers, and completely alternative sequence of poly(ester-alt-ether) could efficiently combine the advantages(including flexibility, degradability, etc.) of both segments. Currently, despite their copolymers could be synthesized from one-pot mixture of cyclic esters and epoxides, perfectly alternative microstructure is very challenging to realize and typically restricted to certain monomer pairs. Moving forward, synthesizing poly(ester-alt-ether) from commercially available and largescale monomers would be a significant advance. For example, successfully commercialized poly(glycolic acid)(PGA), which is not easily soluble in polymers due to its high crystallinity and is brittle and difficult to control the degradation cycle, would encounter a new paradigm if engineered into poly(ester-altether). In this work, starting from the design of monomer with hybrid structures, we successfully synthesized a series of 1,4-dioxan-2-one containing different substituents based on glycolide(GA) and epoxides using commercially available Salen-Cr(III) and PPNCl catalytic systems.The new monomers underwent ring-opening polymerization(ROP) to form a series of poly(ester-alt-ether) with perfectly alternating glycolic acid and propylene glycol repeat units under catalytic system of thiourea/base. The poly(ester-alt-ether) have significantly lower glass-transition temperature than PGA. Additionally, the poly(ester-alt-ether) can be chemically recovered to monomer using Sn(Oct)2 or 1,8-diazabicyclo[5.4.0]undecane-7-ene(DBU) as a catalyst in solution, thus establishing a closed-loop life cycle. From monomers derived from GA and epoxides, this work furnishes a novel strategy for the synthesis of poly(ester-alt-ether) with chemical recyclability.

A whole-net cooperative positioning method based on CDGNSS and inter-vehicle ranging

Relative positioning is recognized as an important issue for vehicles in urban environments.Multi-vehicle Cooperative Positioning(CP)techniques which fuse the Global Navigation Satellite System(GNSS)and inter-vehicle ranging have attracted attention in improving the performance of baseline estimation between vehicles.However,current CP methods estimate the baselines separately and ignore the interactions among the positioning information of different baselines.These interactions are called’information coupling’.In this work,we propose a new multivehicle precise CP framework using the coupled information in the network based on the Carrier Differential GNSS(CDGNSS)and inter-vehicle ranging.We demonstrate the benefit of the coupled information by deriving the Cramer-Rao Lower Bound(CRLB)of the float estimation in CP.To fully use this coupled information,we propose a Whole-Net CP(WN-CP)method which consists of the Whole-Net Extended Kalman Filter(WN-EKF)as the float estimation filter,and the Partial Baseline Fixing(PBF)as the ambiguity resolution part.The WN-EKF fuses the measurements of all baselines simultaneously to improve the performance of float estimation,and the PBF strategy fixes the ambiguities of the one baseline to be estimated,instead of full ambiguity resolution,to reduce the computation load of ambiguity resolution.Field tests involving four vehicles were conducted in urban environments.The results show that the proposed WN-CP method can achieve better performance and meanwhile maintain a low computation load compared to the existing methods.

Digital Twin Modeling Enabled Machine Tool Intelligence:A Review

Machine tools,often referred to as the“mother machines”of the manufacturing industry,are crucial in developing smart manufacturing and are increasingly becoming more intelligent.Digital twin technology can promote machine tool intelligence and has attracted considerable research interest.However,there is a lack of clear and systematic analyses on how the digital twin technology enables machine tool intelligence.Herein,digital twin modeling was identified as an enabling technology for machine tool intelligence based on a comparative study of the characteristics of machine tool intelligence and digital twin.The review then delves into state-of-the-art digital twin modelingenabled machine tool intelligence,examining it from the aspects of data-based modeling and mechanism-data dual-driven modeling.Additionally,it highlights three bottleneck issues facing the field.Considering these problems,the architecture of a digital twin machine tool(DTMT)is proposed,and three key technologies are expounded in detail:Data perception and fusion technology,mechanism-data-knowledge hybrid-driven digital twin modeling and virtual-real synchronization technology,and dynamic optimization and collaborative control technology for multilevel parameters.Finally,future research directions for the DTMT are discussed.This work can provide a foundation basis for the research and implementation of digital-twin modeling-enabled machine tool intelligence,making it significant for developing intelligent machine tools.
