Verification of neutron-induced fission product yields evaluated by a tensor decompsition model in transport-burnup simulations

Neutron-induced fission is an important research object in basic science.Moreover,its product yield data are an indispensable nuclear data basis in nuclear engineering and technology.The fission yield tensor decomposition(FYTD)model has been developed and used to evaluate the independent fission product yield.In general,fission yield data are verified by the direct comparison of experimental and evaluated data.However,such direct comparison cannot reflect the impact of the evaluated data on application scenarios,such as reactor transport-burnup simulation.Therefore,this study applies the evaluated fission yield data in transport-burnup simulation to verify their accuracy and possibility of application.Herein,the evaluated yield data of235U and239Pu are applied in the transport-burnup simulation of a pressurized water reactor(PWR)and sodium-cooled fast reactor(SFR)for verification.During the reactor operation stage,the errors in pin-cell reactivity caused by the evaluated fission yield do not exceed 500 and 200 pcm for the PWR and SFR,respectively.The errors in decay heat and135Xe and149Sm concentrations during the short-term shutdown of the PWR are all less than 1%;the errors in decay heat and activity of the spent fuel of the PWR and SFR during the temporary storage stage are all less than 2%.For the PWR,the errors in important nuclide concentrations in spent fuel,such as90Sr,137Cs,85Kr,and99Tc,are all less than 6%,and a larger error of 37%is observed on129I.For the SFR,the concentration errors of ten important nuclides in spent fuel are all less than 16%.A comparison of various aspects reveals that the transport-burnup simulation results using the FYTD model evaluation have little difference compared with the reference results using ENDF/B-Ⅷ.0 data.This proves that the evaluation of the FYTD model may have application value in reactor physical analysis.

Development of multi-group Monte-Carlo transport and depletion coupling calculation method and verification with metal-fueled fast reactor

The accurate modeling of depletion,intricately tied to the solution of the neutron transport equation,is crucial for the design,analysis,and licensing of nuclear reactors and their fuel cycles.This paper introduces a novel multi-group Monte-Carlo depletion calculation approach.Multi-group cross-sections(MGXS)are derived from both 3D whole-core model and 2D fuel subassembly model using the continuous-energy Monte-Carlo method.Core calculations employ the multi-group Monte-Carlo method,accommodating both homogeneous and specific local heterogeneous geometries.The proposed method has been validated against the MET-1000 metal-fueled fast reactors,using both the OECD/NEA benchmark and a new refueling benchmark introduced in this paper.Our findings suggest that microscopic MGXS,produced via the Monte-Carlo method,are viable for fast reactor depletion analyses.Furthermore,the locally heterogeneous model with angular-dependent MGXS offers robust predictions for core reactivity,control rod value,sodium void value,Doppler constants,power distribution,and concentration levels.

The elastic rebound theory,which frames our understanding of earthquakes,suggests that the accumulated elastic strain on faults will ultimately be released through earthquakes[1].As such,identifying the location,rate,and accumulation of slip deficit on faults constitutes a basis for seismic potential assessment[2].Interseismic coupling(ISC)refers to the ratio of the slip deficit rate on a fault to the far-field loading rate,where full and no coupling correspond to 100%and 0%slip deficits,respectively.

In this paper we prove that isometries with respect to the Kobayashi metric between certain domains having boundary points at which the boundary is infinitely flat extend continuously to the boundary.The strategy is to reestablish the Gehring-Hayman-type Theorem for these complex domains.Furthermore,the regularity of boundary extension map is given.

Lymphatic vessels,comprising the secondary circulatory system in human body,play a multifaceted role in maintaining homeostasis among various tissues and organs.They are tasked with a serious of responsibilities,including the regulation of lymph absorption and transport,the orchestration of immune surveillance and responses.Lymphatic vessel development undergoes a series of sophisticated regulatory signaling pathways governing heterogeneous-origin cell populations stepwise to assemble into the highly specialized lymphatic vessel networks.Lymphangiogenesis,as defined by new lymphatic vessels sprouting from preexisting lymphatic vessels/embryonic veins,is the main developmental mechanism underlying the formation and expansion of lymphatic vessel networks in an embryo.However,abnormal lymphangiogenesis could be observed in many pathological conditions and has a close relationship with the development and progression of various diseases.Mechanistic studies have revealed a set of lymphangiogenic factors and cascades that may serve as the potential targets for regulating abnormal lymphangiogenesis,to further modulate the progression of diseases.Actually,an increasing number of clinical trials have demonstrated the promising interventions and showed the feasibility of currently available treatments for future clinical translation.Targeting lymphangiogenic promoters or inhibitors not only directly regulates abnormal lymphangiogenesis,but improves the efficacy of diverse treatments.In conclusion,we present a comprehensive overview of lymphatic vessel development and physiological functions,and describe the critical involvement of abnormal lymphangiogenesis in multiple diseases.Moreover,we summarize the targeting therapeutic values of abnormal lymphangiogenesis,providing novel perspectives for treatment strategy of multiple human diseases.

Communication Resources Allocation for Time Delay Reduction of Frequency Regulation Service in High Renewable Penetrated Power System

The high renewable penetrated power system has severe frequency regulation problems.Distributed resources can provide frequency regulation services but are limited by com-munication time delay.This paper proposes a communication resources allocation model to reduce communication time delay in frequency regulation service.Communication device resources and wireless spectrum resources are allocated to distributed resources when they participate in frequency regulation.We reveal impact of communication resources allocation on time delay reduction and frequency regulation performance.Besides,we study communication resources allocation solution in high renewable energy penetrated power systems.We provide a case study based on the HRP-38 system.Results show communication time delay decreases distributed resources'ability to provide frequency regulation service.On the other hand,allocating more communication resources to distributed resources'communica-tion services improves their frequency regulation performance.For power systems with renewable energy penetration above 70%,required communications resources are about five times as many as 30%renewable energy penetrated power systems to keep frequency performance the same.Index Terms-Communication resources allocation,commun-ication time delay,distributed resource,frequency regulation,high renewable energy penetrated power system.

BACKGROUND Light chain(AL)amyloidosis is a plasma cell dyscrasia characterized by the pathologic production and extracellular tissue deposition of fibrillar proteins derived from immunoglobulin AL fragments secreted by a clone of plasma cells,which leads to progressive dysfunction of the affected organs.The two most commonly affected organs are the heart and kidneys,and liver is rarely the dominant affected organ with only 3.9%of cases,making them prone to misdia-gnosis and missed diagnosis.CASE SUMMARY A 65-year-old woman was admitted with a 3-mo history of progressive jaundice and marked hepatomegaly.Initially,based on enhanced computed tomography scan and angiography,Budd-Chiari syndrome was considered and balloon dilatation of significant hepatic vein stenoses was performed.However,addi-tional diagnostic procedures,including liver biopsy and bone marrow-exami-nation,revealed immunoglobulin kapa AL amyloidosis with extensive liver involvement and hepatic vascular compression.The disease course was progre-ssive and fatal,and the patient eventually died 5 mo after initial presentation of symptoms.CONCLUSION AL amyloidosis with isolated liver involvement is very rare,and can be easily misdiagnosed as a vascular disease.

Impacts of proppant distribution on development of tight oil reservoirs with threshold pressure gradient

Field evidence indicates that proppant distribution and threshold pressure gradient have great impacts on well productivity.Aiming at the development of unconventional oil reservoirs in Triassic Chang-7 Unit,Ordos Basin of China,we presented an integrated workflow to investigate how(1)proppant placement in induced fracture and(2)non-linear flow in reservoir matrix would affect well productivity and fluid flow in the reservoir.Compared with our research before(Yue et al.,2020),here we extended this study into the development of multi-stage fractured horizontal wells(MFHWs)with large-scale complicated fracture geometry.The integrated workflow is based on the finite element method and consists of simulation models for proppant-laden fluid flow,fracture flow,and non-linear seepage flow,respectively.Simulation results indicate that the distribution of proppant inside the induced cracks significantly affects the productivity of the MFHW.When we assign an idealized proppant distribution instead of the real distribution,there will be an overestimation of 44.98%in daily oil rate and 30.63%in cumulative oil production after continuous development of 1000 days.Besides,threshold pressure gradient(TPG)also significantly affects the well performance in tight oil reservoirs.If we simply apply linear Darcy’s law to the reservoir matrix,the overall cumulative oil production can be overrated by 77%after 1000 days of development.In general,this research provides new insights into the development of tight oil reservoirs with TPG and meanwhile reveals the significance of proppant distribution and non-linear fluid flow in the production scenario design.

A quantum federated learning framework for classical clients

quantum federated learning(QFL)enables collaborative training of a quantum machine learning(QML)model among multiple clients possessing quantum computing capabilities,without the need to share their respective local data.However,the limited availability of quantum computing resources poses a challenge for each client to acquire quantum computing capabilities.This raises a natural question:Can quantum computing capabilities be deployed on the server instead?In this paper,we propose a QFL framework specifically designed for classical clients,referred to as CC-QFL,in response to this question.In each iteration,the collaborative training of the QML model is assisted by the shadow tomography technique,eliminating the need for quantum computing capabilities of clients.Specifically,the server constructs a classical representation of the QML model and transmits it to the clients.The clients encode their local data onto observables and use this classical representation to calculate local gradients.These local gradients are then utilized to update the parameters of the QML model.We evaluate the effectiveness of our framework through extensive numerical simulations using handwritten digit images from the MNIST dataset.Our framework provides valuable insights into QFL,particularly in scenarios where quantum computing resources are scarce.

Taiji-TianQin-LISA network:Precisely measuring the Hubble constant using both bright and dark sirens

In the coming decades,the space-based gravitational-wave(GW)detectors such as Taiji,TianQin,and LISA are expected to form a network capable of detecting millihertz GWs emitted by the mergers of massive black hole binaries(MBHBs).In this work,we investigate the potential of GW standard sirens from the Taiji-TianQin-LISA network in constraining cosmological parameters.For the optimistic scenario in which electromagnetic(EM)counterparts can be detected,we predict the number of detectable bright sirens based on three different MBHB population models,i.e.,popⅢ,Q3d,and Q3nod.Our results show that the TaijiTianQin-LISA network alone could achieve a constraint precision of 0.9%for the Hubble constant,meeting the standard of precision cosmology.Moreover,the Taiji-TianQin-LISA network could effectively break the cosmological parameter degeneracies generated by the CMB data,particularly in the dynamical dark energy models.When combined with the CMB data,the joint CMB+Taiji-TianQin-LISA data offerσ(w)=0.036 in the wCDM model,which is close to the latest constraint result obtained from the CMB+SN data.We also consider a conservative scenario in which EM counterparts are not available.Due to the precise sky localizations of MBHBs by the Taiji-TianQin-LISA network,the constraint precision of the Hubble constant is expected to reach 1.2%.In conclusion,the GW standard sirens from the Taiji-TianQin-LISA network will play a critical role in helping solve the Hubble tension and shedding light on the nature of dark energy.
