Three different kinds of viruses, the spherical virus SCSV with a diameter of about 280 nm,the rhabdovirus SCRV with a size about 250×120 nm, and the baculovirus SCBV with a size about 200×100 nm, were observed from the tissues of diseased mandarin fish Siniperca chuatsi with outbreak of infection and acute lethality. This phenomenon implicated that the reason why the epizootic disease of mandarin fish could not be quenched by only one kind of virus vaccine can be explained by the fact that the fish may be infected by different kinds of viruses. Therefore, more attention should be paid to the complexity of virus pathogens in the prevention strategy for mandarin fish diseases.

Forty embryonic hearts were taken out by anatomical needle from denuded embryos of the ovovivipar-ity guppy fish that were dechorioned by mechanic method or by trypsin digestion, and were in vitro cultured. In the cultured hearts, 80% have maintained beating in vitro for 4 weeks, and the longest record for beating was 142 d. Owing to fish embryo transparency, beating frequency and blood color changes are easily viewed from the embryonic hearts under a dissecting microscope. The current study established the in vitro culture method of embryonic hearts in guppy fish, which can be used as a model for the study of heart and cardiovascular system in vertebrates.

The MaMV-DC cyanophage,which infects the bloom-forming cyanobacterium Microcystis aeruginosa,was isolated from Lake Dianchi,Kunming,***-one cyanobacterial strains were used to detect the host range of *** aeruginosa FACHB-524 and plaque purification were used to isolate individual cyanophages,and culturing MaMV-DC with cyanobacteria allowed us to prepare purified cyanophages for further *** microscopy demonstrated that the negatively stained viral particles are tadpole-shaped with an icosahedral head approximately 70 nm in diameter and a contractile tail approximately 160 nm in *** one-step growth experiments,the latent period and burst size of MaMV-DC were estimated to be 24–48 hours and approximately 80infectious units per cell,*** endonuclease digestion and agarose gel electrophoresis were performed using purified MaMV-DC genomic DNA,and the genome size was estimated to be approximately 160 *** dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis(SDS-PAGE)analysis revealed four major structural *** results support the growing interest in using freshwater cyanophages to control bloom-forming cyanobacterium.

In contrast to fish,amphibians inhabit both aquatic and terrestrial *** better understand osmoregulation in fish and amphibian,we have investigated the morphological changes in kidney cells to osmotic *** address this,kidney cell line isolated from the freshwater grass carp(CIK)and Chinese giant salamander(GSK)were challenged to different mediums with distinct osmotic pressures(100,300 and 700 mOsm).Morphological alterations of the fish and amphibian cells were compared by optical and electron *** hyposmotic treatment(100 mOsm),both CIK and GSK cells became unhealthy and show condensed chromatin,swollen mitochondria and cytoplasmic ***,after hyperosmotic treatment(700 mOsm),shrunken CIK cells with multipolar shape,pale or lightly stained cytoplasm,condensed chromatin,vacuoles and swollen mitochondria were *** cells were seriously damaged and most were completely *** results suggest that fish kidney cells show a higher degree of tolerance to hyperosmoticity by comparing to amphibians and provide novel insights on the osmoregulatory capacity and adaptability of kidney cells between the two animal groups.

Objective: To analyze the effect of combined extracorporeal shock wave and rehabilitation training treatment in patients with muscle articulation chronic pain (MACP). Methods: Ninety-seven MACP patients admitted to our hospital from September 2021 to September 2023 were randomly selected and were divided into Group A (control group, 46 cases, rehabilitation training treatment) and Group B (observation group, 51 cases, extracorporeal shock wave with rehabilitation training treatment), and outcomes of the two groups were compared. Results: The treatment efficiency, post-treatment clinical indexes (upper and lower limb function scores, activities of daily living (ADL) scores, visual analog scale (VAS) scores), and short-form 36 (SF-36) scores of Group B were better than those of Group A (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Combined extracorporeal shock wave and rehabilitation training treatment for MACP patients improved their limb function, daily activities, quality of life, and reduced pain.

The double-stranded RNA(dsRNA)-dependent protein kinase(PKR) belongs to the eIF2a kinase family and plays a critical role in interferon(IFN)-mediated antiviral ***,in Japanese flounder(Paralichthys olivaceus),a PKR gene has been *** this study,we showed that PoPKR localized to the cytoplasm,and the dsRNA-binding motifs(dsRBMs) played a determinative role in protein *** cultured FEC cells,PoPKR was detected at a low level of constitutive expression but was highly induced after treatment with UV-inactivated grass carp hemorrhagic virus,active SMRV and Poly I:C although with different expression *** flounder,PoPKR was ubiquitously distributed in all tested tissues,and SMRV infection resulted in significant upregulation at mRNA and protein *** order to reveal the role of PoPKR in host antiviral response,its expression upon exposure to various inducers was characterized and further compared with that of PoHRI,which is another eIF2a kinase of ***,expression comparison revealed that all inducers stimulated upregulation of PoHRI in cultured flounder embryonic cells and fish,with a similar kinetics to PoP-KR but to a less *** results suggest that,during antiviral immune response,both flounder eIF2a kinases might play similar roles and that PoPKR is the predominant kinase.
