Tissue optical clearing enhances efficacy of vascular targeted photodynamic therapy of mouse dorsal skin

Vascular-targeted photodynamic therapy(V-PDT)is an effective treatment for port wine stains(PWS).However,repeated treatment is usually needed to achieve optimal treatment outcomes,possibly due to the limited treatment light penetration depth in the PWS lesion.The optical clearing technique can increase light penetration in depth by reducing light scattering.This study aimed to investigate the V-PDT in combination with an optical clearing agent(OCA)for the therapeutic enhancement of V-PDT in the rodent skinfold window chamber model.Vascular responses were closely monitored with laser speckle contrast imaging(LSCI),optical coherence tomography angiography,and stereo microscope before,during,and after the treatment.We further quantitatively demonstrated the effects of V-PDT in combination with OCA on the blood flow and blood vessel size of skin microvasculature.The combination of OCA and V-PDT resulted in significant vascular damage,including vasoconstriction and the reduction of blood flow.Our results indicate the promising potential of OCA for enhancing V-PDT for treating vascular-related diseases,including PWS.

Origin and tectonic setting of low-Si alkaline magma

Despite of the relatively rare occurrence of alkaline igneous rocks on Earth, they are the most diverse group of igneous rocks due to variations in their mineral assemblages and geochemical compositions. Alkaline igneous rocks are generally characterized by Si undersaturation, and K-Na(and in some cases C) enrichment. Although there is no unified alkaline igneous rock classification scheme, diagrams such as total alkalis-SiO_(2) or K_(2)O-SiO_(2) can be used to classify alkaline igneous rocks. The origins of silica-saturated alkaline rocks(SiO_(2)>52 wt.%) are relatively complex because multiple episodes of magmatism are often involved, therefore most studies have focused on the origins of silica-undersaturated alkaline magmas.Numerous experimental petrological studies have been conducted in the past few decades. Initially, it was considered that enrichment of trace elements was only achieved by low-degree partial melting of mantle peridotite, but the experimental melts could not reproduce the geochemical composition of natural alkaline igneous rocks. Subsequent studies have focused on carbonate-bearing eclogites that represent the average component of subducted oceanic crust. Although experimental studies indicate that silica-undersaturated and alkali-oversaturated melts can be generated from eclogites, some studies have considered that natural silica-undersaturated alkaline igneous rocks are the result of multi-stage source enrichment by incompatible elements. Low-degree partial melts of the mantle can be emplaced in the lithospheric mantle, forming veins consisting of phlogopite, amphibole, and pyroxene. Melting experiments including these components show that the produced melts better reproduce the naturally occurring silica-undersaturated alkaline magmas. Silica-deficient alkaline igneous rocks occur in various tectonic settings. Resistance development,cross-resistance,and fitness costs associated with Aphis gossypii resistance towards sulfoxaflor and acetamiprid in different geographical regions

Aphis gossypii has become increasingly difficult to manage due to its strong insecticide resistance.In the laboratory,we established sulfoxaflor-resistant and acetamiprid-resistant strains in two A.gossypii populations with different basal insecticide resistance levels,and evaluated the effects of basal insecticide resistance on the resistance development and cross-resistance,as well as differences in fitness.Under the same selection pressure,Yarkant A.gossypii(with low basal insecticide resistance)evolved resistance to sulfoxaflor and acetamiprid more quickly than Jinghe A.gossypii(with high basal insecticide resistance),and the evolution of A.gossypii resistance to sulfoxaflor developed faster than acetamiprid in both Yarkant and Jinghe,Xingjiang,China.The sulfoxaflor-resistant strains selected from Yarkant and Jinghe developed significant cross-resistance to acetamiprid,imidacloprid,thiamethoxam and pymetrozine;while the acetamiprid-resistant strains developed significant cross-resistance to sulfoxaflor,imidacloprid,thiamethoxam,pymetrozine,and chlorpyrifos.The relative fitness of A.gossypii decreased as the resistance to sulfoxaflor and acetamiprid developed.The relative fitness levels of the sulfoxaflor-resistant strains(Yarkant-SulR and Jinghe-SulR)were lower than those of the acetamipridresistant strains(Yarkant-AceR and Jinghe-AceR).In addition,the relative fitness levels of sulfoxaflor-and acetamiprid-resistant strains were lower in Jinghe than in Yarkant.In summary,basal insecticide resistance of A.gossypii and insecticide type affected the evolution of resistance to insecticides in A.gossypii,as well as cross-resistance to other insecticides.The sulfoxaflor-and acetamiprid-resistant A.gossypii strains had obvious fitness costs.The results of this work will contribute to the insecticide resistance management and integrated management of A.gossypii.

Experimental investigation on waterproofing performance of segmental joint with double gaskets for shield tunnel

The waterproofing capacity of segmental joints is an essential indicator for the long-term service performance of shield tunnels.The segmental joints with double gaskets have been adopted to improve the waterproof performance for certain tunnels with high water pressure,especially water-conveyance tunnels.This paper presents a series of waterproofing tests on joints with different settings of double gaskets via an improved test apparatus.Four cases are investigated,including(i)double gaskets with equal high/low waterproof capacity,(ii)the outer gasket with higher waterproof capacity,and(iii)the outer gasket with lower waterproof capacity.Different joint openings are also considered.Moreover,the water pressures at two cavities are continuously monitored to highlight the waterproofing mechanism and failure pattern of double gaskets.The results demonstrate that the gasket with the higher waterproofing capacity dominates the overall waterproofing capacity of joint with double gaskets;only a little enhancement of the waterproofing capacity is found for the joint with the same double gaskets.The waterproofing capacity of joints with double gaskets decreases with the increase of the joint opening.The failure pattern depends on the arrangement of double gaskets,and four stages can be identified during the whole failure process.The advantages of double gaskets in case of joint rotation are also discussed.

Design of GH4169 diaphragm for combined improvements of yield strength and surface roughness

Diaphragm compressors have become the primary source of on-site hydrogen compression for hydrogen fuelling stations around the world.The most common hydrogen-compressor-failure mechanism has been identified as diaphragm fracture due to low ten-sile strength and poor surface properties.In this study,a new type of GH4169 diaphragm with high yield strength and low surface roughness was fabricated.Microstructures,tensile behaviours and surface properties of the specimens were characterized by using scanning electron microscopy,an electronic universal testing machine and atomic force microscopy,respectively.The evolution of theandphases with temperature has been examined.Bothandphases were precipitant-strengthened phases for GH4169 and the volume and size ofandphases increase with ageing time.In addition,thephase is the main strengthening phase andis the supportive strengthening phase.Tensile strength was increased due to the strengthening phases at the cost of ductility.The roughness of the diaphragm could reach an arithmetic average roughness(Ra)of 0.1μm by applying a cooling-assisted polishing process.This work improves the reliability and reduces the auxiliary steps and down-time for diaphragm compressors.

Malignant tumors,with the characteristics of easy metastasis and recurrence,are a serious threat to health of mankind.It is urgent to develop promising clinical cancer targeted agents with combination of rapid diagnosis and efficient therapies.Compared with the conventional photosensitizing agents,the recent advances of nanoagents based on transition metal-oxide clusters possess unique structural and electronic properties,greatly improving cancer survival rate,meanwhile,keeping high contrast imaging.This review provides a brief introduction of metal-oxide clusters,including both nanoclusters to molecular clusters,specifically polyoxometalates(POMs).Subsequently,biocompatibility of metal-oxide clusters is emphasized from aspects of endocytosis,macropinocytosis,and phagocytosis.Through the classification of late and early transition metals oxide clusters,recent outcomes of light-guided nanoagents are represented with their intriguing chemical and optical properties in their diagnosing and photochemotherapy performance.It shed light on the summary of next generation multifunctional cancer targeting agents'developments as well as outlook of materials selection trends and research direction in the future.

地震灾后调查表明盆地对地震动有显著的放大效应.低速、松散的沉积层和下伏基岩之间的物性差异,通常被认为是导致地震破坏增加的直接原因,它会显著增加盆地内地震动的持续时间、放大地震动幅度.可靠的沉积层结构和基阶共振频率有利于估计沉积层的放大作用并评估该区地震危险性.本研究利用渤海湾地区43个流动地震台站的远震波形资料提取了P波接收函数,进一步通过接收函数自相关得到了台站下方沉积层的共振频率,并依照钻孔资料推导出的共振频率和沉积层厚度之间的经验关系,给出了研究区的沉积层厚度.研究区共振频率存在由东北向西南减小的趋势,其中研究区东北部共振频率主要介于0.30~0.77 Hz之间,对应的沉积层厚度介于120~500 m;研究区西南平原地区绝大部分台站的共振频率低于0.30 Hz,沉积层厚度介于500~1252 m.本文结果与前人采用HVSR方法给出的共振频率具有较好的一致性,通过与已有反射和钻孔资料对比研究,推测本文所给出的沉积厚度为晚第三纪-第四纪(N+Q)的沉积盖层厚度.

区位选择和决策是经济投资活动中最基本和核心的议题。随着乡村旅游的快速增长,乡村旅游投资科学决策对当地乡村旅游产业效率和发展成效具有极其重要的作用。为理解乡村旅游投资内涵、认识区域乡村旅游阶段发展背景下其投资区位选择因子演化特征与过程,本研究从人地关系视角,在理解乡村旅游投资内涵的基础上,构建了乡村旅游投资区位决策的影响因子体系。研究发现:(1)人地关系视角下,乡村旅游投资具有系统的“主体-要素-对象”体系,其区位选择以产业经济、社会文化、自然环境区位因子体系为基础。(2)区位因子对乡村旅游投资决策的影响水平呈现产业经济、社会文化、自然环境递减变化特征,并随乡村旅游地由产业萌芽、产业发展、快速扩张到提质增效的阶段演化出现向产业经济集中的现象。(3)乡村旅游投资区位选择阶段演化是由乡村地域人地关系系统影响乡村旅游投资收益预期,作用于乡村旅游投资“主体-要素-对象”体系,在不同发展阶段形成差异化投资策略和区位决策的过程。

对于通过前端浪涌防护模块对数字电源浪涌冲击进行抑制的方法,当浪涌能量过高时,存在浪涌防护模块通常无法有效抑制全部浪涌能量的问题。针对该问题,分析了浪涌的产生原因及特性,研究了浪涌在数字电源中的传递路径及在不同观测点的浪涌波形,进而提出了印刷电路板(Printed circuit board,PCB)布局优化、电路优化及磁屏蔽等数字电源浪涌抑制新方法。所提新方法原理简单、可靠性高,能使数字电源获得良好的浪涌抑制能力。研制了1.2k W试验样机并进行浪涌测试试验,试验结果表明所提出的浪涌抑制新方法可抗4级浪涌试验,能够保障数字电源正常工作。
