Enhanced Anion-Derived Inorganic-Dominated Solid Electrolyte Interphases for High-Rate and Stable Sodium Storage

It is highly desirable for the promising sodium storage possessing high rate and long stable capability,which are mainly hindered by the unstable yet conventional solvent-derived organic-rich solid electrolyte ***,an electrolyte solvation chemistry is elaborately manipulated to produce an enhanced anion-derived and inorganic components-dominated solid electrolyte interphases by introducing a low permittivity(4.33)bis(2,2,2-trifluoroethyl)ether diluent into the sodium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imidedimethoxyethane-based high concentration electrolyte to obtain a localized high concentration *** bis(2,2,2-trifluoroethyl)ether breaks the balance of original cation solvation structure and tends to interact with Na^(+)-coordinated dimethoxyethane solvent rather than Na^(+)in high concentration electrolyte,leaving an enhanced Coulombic interaction between Na^(+)and(FSO_(2))_(2)N^(-),and more(FSO_(2))_(2)N^(-)can enter the Na^(+)solvation shell,forming a further increased number of Na^(+)-(FSO_(2))_(2)N^(-)-dimethoxyethane clusters(from 82.0%for high concentration electrolyte to 94.3%for localized high concentration electrolyte)at a low salt *** preferential reduction of this(FSO_(2))_(2)N^(-)-enriched clusters rather than the dimethoxyethane-dominated Na^(+)solvation structure produces an enhanced anion-derived and inorganic components-dominated solid electrolyte *** reversible charge storage process of Na is decoupled by operando Raman along with a shift of D and G *** from the enhanced anion-derived electrode-electrolyte interface,the commercial hard carbon anode in localized high concentration electrolyte shows a well rate capability(5 A g^(−1),70 mAh g^(−1)),cycle performance and stability(85%of initial capacity after 700 cycles)in comparison to that of high concentration electrolyte(68%)and low concentration electrolyte(only 5%after 400 cycles),indicative of uniqueness and superiorities towards stable Na st

Six-membered-ring inorganic materials: definition and prospects

The six-membered ring (SMR) is a common structure unit for numerous material systems. These materials include, but are not limited to, the typical two-dimensional materials such as graphene, h-BN, and transition metal dichalcogenides, as well as three-dimensional materials such as beryllium, magnesium, Mg B2 and Bi2Se3. Although many of these materials have already become ‘stars’ in materials science and condensed-matter physics, little attention has been paid to the roles of the SMR unit across a wide range of compositions and structures. In this article, we systematically analyze these materials with respect to their very basic SMR structural unit, which has been found to play a deterministic role in the occurrence of many intriguing properties and phenomena, such as Dirac electronic and phononic spectra, superconductivity and topology. As a result, we have defined this group of materials as SMR inorganic materials, opening up a new perspective on materials research and development. With their unique properties, SMR materials deserve wide attention and in-depth investigation from materials design, new physical discoveries to target-wizard applications. It is expected that SMR materials will find niche applications in next-generation information technology, renewable energy, space, etc.

Biochar amendment offers a chance for sustainable ***,the effectiveness of biochar relies on its physical and chemical properties,which are heavily affected by biochar production conditions and management ***,substantial uncertainties regarding the use of biochar exist in agricultural systems *** study provides the first quantitative evaluation of the impacts of biochar characteristics and management practices on key ecosystem services by performing a second-order meta-analysis based on 34,628 paired observations in biochar-amended and unamended ***,biochar enhances phytotoxicity alleviation,physiology regulation,soil remediation and carbon sequestration,and microbial functional gene ***,some prominent trade-offs exist between crop productivity and ecosystem service deliveries including for nutrient cycling,microbial function,climate change mitigation,and the soil microbial *** adoption of low C:N biochar produced at high pyrolysis temperatures from sewage sludge-derived feedstock,in combination with a moderate application rate and inorganic fertilizer input,shows potential for achieving synergistic promotion of crop productivity and ecosystem *** outcomes highlight the need for judicious implementation of biochar-based solutions to site-specific soil *** quantified synergy and tradeoff relationships will aid the establishment of a sustainable biochar development framework that strengthens necessary ecosystem services commensurate with food security assurance.

Microstructure and structural color in wing scales of butterfly Thaumantis diores

The butterfly Thaumantis diores is a species in the Northeast of China. There are two kinds of scales on its wings, which overlap like roof tiles and completely cover the membrane. The SEM results showed that only Type-I scales play a key role in forming the blue structural color. Type-II scales have black chemical color. The cross section micro-configuration of scales is achieved by using the transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The brilliant blue generated through the multilayer microstructure is explained by the photonic crystal reason. The multilayer microstructure of the ridges is optimized to 1D Bragg stack for simulation. The reflectivity of the wing is measured by a spectrometer, and the experimental graph accord with the simulation curves basically. When this species fly, the wing's color and brightness can change because of the transform between structural color and chemical color. The bionic color-changing design and the significance of this effect in video stealth or other fields are discussed at the end of the paper.

RNA-remodeling proteins,including RNA helicases and chaperones,play vital roles in the remodeling of structured *** viral replication,viruses require RNA-remodeling proteins to facilitate proper folding and/or re-folding the viral RNA *** B3(CVB3)and Coxsackieviruses B5(CVB5),belonging to the genus Enterovirus in the family Picornaviridae,have been reported to cause various infectious diseases such as hand-foot-and-mouth disease,aseptic meningitis,and viral ***,little is known about whether CVB3 and CVB5 encode any RNA remodeling *** this study,we showed that 2C proteins of CVB3 and CVB5 contained the conserved SF3 helicase A,B,and C motifs,and functioned not only as RNA helicase that unwound RNA helix bidirectionally in an NTP-dependent manner,but also as RNA chaperone that remodeled structured RNAs and facilitated RNA strand annealing independently of *** addition,we determined that the NTPase activity and RNA helicase activity of 2C proteins of CVB3 and CVB5 were dependent on the presence of divalent metallic *** findings demonstrate that 2C proteins of CVBs possess RNA-remodeling activity and underline the functional importance of 2C protein in the life cycle of CVBs.

Poly(1,8-octanediol citrate)/bioactive glass composite with improved mechanical performance and bioactivity for bone regeneration

Poly（1,8-octanediol-co-citrate）（POC） represents a new promising biocompatible and biodegradable polyester that has been extensively investigated for soft tissue engineering. However, the poor mechanical performance and poor bioactivity limit its application in bone regeneration. In this study, a series of POC/bioactive glasses （BG） composites were developed using 45S5 Bioglass^Θ and a phytic acid- derived bioactive glass （referred as PSC）. The results indicated that calcium in BG could enhance the crosslinking of the POC/BG composites by forming calcium dicarboxylate bridges and thus improve their mechanical performances. When PSC were used, the composites exhibited significantly better mechanical properties compared to composites with 45S5 Bioglass^Θ. For example, by incorporating 70wt% PSC, the compressive strength of POC/PSC composites could be improved to approximately 50 MPa and modulus 1.3-h 0.1 GPa. Furthermore, all these POC/PSC composites showed good in vitro bioactivity and cellular biocompatibility. Histology results in femoral condyle defects of Sprague-Dawley rats indicated that the POC/PSC samples integrated well with surrounding tissues and stimulated bone regeneration. The improved mechanical properties and bioactivity of POC/PSC composites make them promising for potential application in bone regeneration.

Refined chronology of prehistoric cultures and its implication for re-evaluating human-environment relations in the Hexi Corridor,northwest China

The reconstruction of high-resolution chronologies for prehistoric cultures is a prerequisite for understanding the history of human evolution and its relationship with environmental change, and is valuable for exploring the trajectory of transcontinental cultural exchanges in prehistoric time. The Hexi Corridor of northwest China was one of the earliest centers for long-distance culture exchange in the prehistoric world. The timing and sequence of cultural changes in this area remains poorly understood resulting from the lack of radiometric age control. This paper presents a refined radiocarbon(14 C) chronology to resolve the timing of human occupation and cultural evolution in the Hexi Corridor. Radiocarbon dating of crop remains, which have an annual life cycle, has the advantage of eliminating problems such as the carbon stored in ‘old wood’. As a result,14C dates from crop remains are used to test the validity of the14C dates derived from charcoal, bone and plant remains. The resultant database of ages is modelled using the Bayesian approach. The updated chronology presented in this paper shows generally good agreement with the original dates used to constrain cultural evolution in the Hexi Corridor. However, the occupation of the corridor by the Shajing and Shanma Late Bronze Age-Early Iron Age cultures appears to have taken place ~300 years later than previously thought. On the basis of comparing this updated chronology of cultural evolution with palaeoclimatic and historical records, it is proposed that the collapse of the Shajing and Shanma cultures occurred as a result of geopolitical impact rather than climate change.

Ochratoxin A(OTA)is one of the most common pollutants in aquatic *** a first line of defense,intestinal barriers could be utilized against OTA in order to prevent *** product supplementation is one of the most popular strategies to alleviate toxicity induced by mycotoxins,but there is a lack of knowledge about how it functions in the teleost *** this study,720 juvenile grass carp of about 11 g were selected and four treatment groups(control group,OTA group,curcumin[Cur]group,and OTA+Cur group)were set up to conduct a 60-day growth *** the test,the growth performance and intestinal health related indexes of grass carp were *** addition of dietary Cur could have the following main results:(1)inhibit absorption and promote efflux transporters mRNA expression,reducing the residuals of OTA,(2)decrease oxidative stress by reducing oxidative damage and enhancing the expression of antioxidant enzymes,(3)promote mitochondrial fusion proteins to inhibit the expression of mitotic proteins and mitochondrial autophagy proteins and enhance mitochondrial function,(4)reduce necroptosis-related gene expression through inhibiting the tumor necrotic factor receptor-interacting protein kinase/mixed lineage kinase domain-like pathway,(5)reduce the expression of pro-inflammatory factors by inhibiting the Toll-like receptor 4/nuclear factor-κB signaling pathway to alleviate the intestinal inflammatory *** summary,the results suggested that Cur could alleviate OTA-induced intestinal damage by enhancing antioxidant capacity and mitochondrial function as well as reducing necroptosis and inflammation in the grass carp *** study provided a theoretical basis and production implications for dietary Cur that could improve growth performance and alleviate the intestinal damage induced by OTA in fish.

Transmetalation of carborane-fused zirconacycles to Cu（II） induces the C-C coupling reaction to form four-membered rings. This serves as a new efficient and general methodology for the generation of a series of carborane-fused cyclobutenes and cyclobutanes. A reaction mechanism involving transmetalation to Cu（II） and reductive elimination is proposed.

Experimental investigation on color variation mechanisms of structural light in Papilio maackii ménétriès butterfly wings

The body color in animals results from billions of years of their natural evolution in order to evade natural enemies, catch quarries or display themselves beauty, in-vestigation on mechanisms of structural light is an important aspect of bionics. Based on the phenomenon of Papilio maackii ménétriès’ blue scales changing into green ones immediately after dropping some alcohol aqua on the underwing sur-face and soon returning back to the original color, the relationship between micro-structure, optics characteristic of scales and changing color effect were studied using the Olympus Stereomicroscope, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) and Ultraviolet (UV)-Visible Spectropho-tometer. The color variation mechanisms of blue scales of Papilio maackii mé-nétriès in Chinese Northeast were revealed in this paper. When visible lights trav-eled through the concaver structure with multilayer reflector and the filled medium with different refractive indices, the reflected lights in definite wavelengths pro-duced interference and color at that wavelength came into being. It has important academic reference value to biomimetics design of video stealth materials.
