Efficacy and Safety of Bufei Jiedu Granules in Treating Multidrug-Resistant Pulmonary Tuberculosis:A Multi-center,Double-Blinded and Randomized Controlled Trial

Objective: To assess the efficacy and safety of Bufei Jiedu(BFJD) Granules as adjuvant therapy for patients with multidrug-resistant pulmonary tuberculosis(MDR-PTB). Methods: A large-scale, multi-center, double-blinded, and randomized controlled trial was conducted in 18 sentinel hospitals in China from December 2012 to December 2016. A total of 312 MDR-PTB patients were randomly assigned to BFJD Granules or placebo groups(1:1) using a stratified randomization method, which both received the long-course chemotherapy regimen for 18 months(6 Am-Lfx-P-Z-Pto, 12 Lfx-P-Z-Pto). Meanwhile, patients in both groups also received BFJD Granules or placebo twice a day for a total of 18 months, respectively. The primary outcome was cure rate. The secondary outcomes included time to sputum-culture conversion, changes in lung cavities and quality of life(QoL) of patients. Adverse reactions were monitored during and after the trial. Results: A total of 216 cases completed the trial, 111 in the BFJD Granules group and 105 in the placebo group. BFJD Granules, as adjuvant treatment, increased the cure rate by 13.6% at the end of treatment, compared with the placebo(58.4% vs. 44.8%, P=0.02), and accelerated the median time to sputum-culture conversion(5 months vs. 11 months). The cavity closure rate of the BFJD Granules group(50.6%, 43/85) was higher than that of the placebo group(32.1%, 26/81;P=0.02) in patients who completed the treatment. At the end of the intensive treatment, according to the 36-item Short Form, the BFJD Granules significantly improved physical functioning, general health, and vitality of patients relative to the placebo group(all P<0.01). Overall, the death rates in the two groups were not significantly different;5.1%(8/156) in the BFJD Granules group and 2.6%(4/156) in the placebo group. Photochemical Production of Methyl Halides with Guaiacol as the Precursor

Methyl halides are crucial trace greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, playing a significant role in global climate change and the atmospheric environment. This study investigated the photochemical production of methyl halides in an artificial seawater system using guaiacol as a precursor through laboratory simulation experiments. The influences of various environmental factors, including illumination time, radiation wavebands, illumination intensity, concentrations of guaiacol and halide ions（X-）, Fe3+, salinity, dissolved oxygen（DO）, and pH value on the photochemical production of methyl halides were examined. We demonstrated that increased illumination intensity and duration promote the photochemical production of methyl halides, with a notable enhancement under UV-B radiation. Guaiacol and halide ions were identified as key precursors, and their high concentrations facilitated the formation of methyl halides. Additionally, different types of halide ions exhibited a competitive relationship in producing methyl halides. The study found that an increase in pH inhibited the photochemical formation of CH3I due to the reaction between OH-and ·CH3. Dissolved oxygen was found to inhibit the photochemical formation of CH3I while promoting the formation of CH3Cl. Conversely, an appropriate concentration of Fe3+enhanced the photochemical production of methyl halides. Field observations indicated a high photochemical production of methyl halides in the natural waters near Qingdao's coastal area, likely due to the high concentration of dissolved organic matter（DOM）, which supports photochemical reactions. Furthermore, the photochemical production of methyl halides in natural seawater was significantly higher than in dark conditions, underscoring the importance of illumination in promoting these photochemical processes in seawater.

Ag-doped Ti3C2Tx sensor: A promising candidate for low-concentration H2S gas sensing

Trace hydrogen sulphide (H2S) could reflect the severity of insulation faults in gas-insulated switchgear (GIS), therefore, accurate and fast detection of low-concentration H2S is important for on-line monitoring, fault diagnosis, and state evaluation in GIS. Ag-Ti3C2Tx chemiresistive-type sensors were fabricated via drop-coating with self-reduction synthesised Ag-doped Ti3C2Tx. The as-prepared sensors exhibited an excellent sensitivity and selectivity to H2S with an extremely low detection of limit of 18.57 parts per billion (ppb) at 25 degrees C (room temperature). The response of Ag-Ti3C2Tx sensor to 10 parts per million (ppm) H2S was enhanced similar to 12 times than that of the pristine Ti3C2Tx sensor. The compositing of Ti3C2Tx with Ag nanoparticles (NPs) enabled the fast response/recovery time for H2S detection. Further analysis found that the enhanced H2S sensing performances could be attributed to chemical sensitisation, adsorbed oxygen species regulation and high Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) surface area. This study paves the way for Ag-Ti3C2Tx as room-temperature sensing materials to detect low-concentration H2S in GIS.

An effective and reliable prediction of the remaining useful life(RUL)of a tool is important to a metal forming process because it can significantly reduce unexpected maintenance,avoid machine shutdowns and increase system *** study proposes a new data-driven approach to the RUL prediction for metal forming processes under multiple contact sliding *** data-driven approach took advantage of bidirectional long short-term memory(BLSTM)and convolutional neural networks(CNN).A pre-trained lightweight CNN-based network,WearNet,was re-trained to classify the wear states of workpiece surfaces with a high accuracy,then the classification results were passed into a BLSTM-based regression model as inputs for RUL *** experimental results demonstrated that this approach was able to predict the RUL values with a small error(below 5%)and a low root mean square error(RMSE)(around 1.5),which was more superior and robust than the other state-of-the-art methods.
