BACKGROUND Knee joint pain and stiffness are the two main symptoms of knee osteoarthritis(OA)and thus restrict a patient’s activities,such as walking and walking up and *** lower body positive pressure(LBPP)treadmill as one of the emerging body weight support system devices brings new hope for exerciserelated rehabilitation for knee OA *** To investigate the biomechanical effects and the subjective clinical assessment of LBPP treadmill walking exercise when compared with conventional therapy in mild to moderate knee OA *** Eighteen patients with mild-to-moderate knee OA were recruited in this randomized controlled trial(RCT)*** eligible knee OA patients were randomly assigned to two groups:LBPP and control *** patients in the LBPP group performed an LBPP walking training program for 30 min/session per day,6 d per week for 2 wk whereas the patients in the control group performed walking on the ground for the same *** patients underwent clinical assessments and three-dimensional gait analysis at pre-and 2-wk *** The Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Arthritis Index and visual analog scale scores in both the LBPP group and control group were found to decrease significantly at the post-treatment point than the pre-treatment point(LBPP:70.25±13.93 vs 40.50±11.86;3.88±0.99 vs 1.63±0.52;control:69.20±8.88 vs 48.10±8.67;3.80±0.79 vs 2.60±0.70,P<0.001).Moreover,compared with the control group,the LBPP group showed more improvements in walking speed(P=0.007),stride length(P=0.037),and knee range of motion(P=0.048)during walking,which represented more improvement in walking *** The results of our RCT study showed that the LBPP group has a greater effect on improving gait parameters than the conventional group,although there was no significant advantage in clinical *** finding indicates that LBPP treadmill walking training might be an effective approach for alleviating pai

Research trends and development status of TCM network pharmacology: a bibliometric study

Objective: To analyze the research status, development context and trend of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) network pharmacology from birth to the present. Methods: In this study, bibliographic data and references of articles on TCM network pharmacology were collected from Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC), and software including CiteSpace, VOSviewer and Microsoft Excel were applied for the bibliometric analysis of periodicals and the quantity of literature, and for the construction and analysis of the co-occurrence network of countries, journals, research institutes and authors, clusters of co-cited references, and time distribution network of keywords. Results: 249 articles were included in this study. The time span was from 2011 to 2018, and the annual volume of publications showed an increasing trend year by year. The 77 journals contain relevant literature, and the average impact factor of the journal is 3.215. Chinese Journal of Natural Medicines, Scientific Reports, PLoS One have high influence in the field of TCM network pharmacology. Universities and research institutes including China Academy of Chinese Medical Science and Northwest Agriculture & Forestry University are the major forces in this field. Wang Yonghua and Li Shao are authors with high influence in this field, with a considerable number of relevant documents and citations. According to the clustering results of co-cited references, research topics can be classified into 13 development contexts such as “compound danshen formula”,“computational tool”, and “new multi-compound drug discovery”. Hotspots of TCM network pharmacology include “drug discovery”,“mechanism” and “cardiovascular disease”, and relevant research methods and research contents including drugs and diseases tend to be constantly enriched. The central nervous system, information integration center of the body, is mainly composed of neurons and glial cells. The neuron is one of the most basic and important structural and functional units of the central nervous system, with sensory stimulation and excitation conduction functions. Astrocytes and microglia belong to the glial cell family, which is the main source of cytokines and represents the main defense system of the central nervous system. Nerve cells undergo neurotransmission or gliotransmission, which regulates neuronal activity via the ion channels, receptors, or transporters expressed on nerve cell membranes. Ion channels, composed of large transmembrane proteins, play crucial roles in maintaining nerve cell homeostasis. These channels are also important for control of the membrane potential and in the secretion of neurotransmitters. A variety of cellular functions and life activities, including functional regulation of the central nervous system, the generation and conduction of nerve excitation, the occurrence of receptor potential, heart pulsation, smooth muscle peristalsis, skeletal muscle contraction, and hormone secretion, are closely related to ion channels associated with passive transmembrane transport. Two types of ion channels in the central nervous system, potassium channels and calcium channels, are closely related to various neurological disorders, including Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and epilepsy. Accordingly, various drugs that can affect these ion channels have been explored deeply to provide new directions for the treatment of these neurological disorders. In this review, we focus on the functions of potassium and calcium ion channels in different nerve cells and their involvement in neurological disorders such as Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, depression, epilepsy, autism, and rare disorders. The development of low-temperature solid oxide fuel cells(LT-SOFCs)is of significant importance for realizing the widespread application of *** has stimulated a substantial materials research effort in developing high oxide-ion conductivity in the electrolyte layer of *** this context,for the first time,a dielectric material,CaCu_(3)Ti_(4)O_(12)(CCTO)is designed for LT-SOFCs electrolyte application in this *** individual CCTO and its heterostructure materials with a p-type Ni_(0.8)Co_(0.15)Al_(0.05)LiO_(2−δ)(NCAL)semiconductor are evaluated as alternative electrolytes in LT-SOFC at 450–550℃.The single cell with the individual CCTO electrolyte exhibits a power output of approximately 263 mW cm^(-2) and an open-circuit voltage(OCV)of 0.95 V at 550℃,while the cell with the CCTO–NCAL heterostructure electrolyte capably delivers an improved power output of approximately 605 mW cm^(-2) along with a higher OCV over 1.0 V,which indicates the introduction of high hole-conducting NCAL into the CCTO could enhance the cell performance rather than inducing any potential short-circuiting *** is found that these promising outcomes are due to the interplay of the dielectric material,its structure,and overall properties that led to improve electrochemical mechanism in CCTO–***,density functional theory calculations provide the detailed information about the electronic and structural properties of the CCTO and NCAL and their heterostructure CCTO–*** study thus provides a new approach for developing new advanced electrolytes for LT-SOFCs.

Introduction To improve compliance with voiding diaries in children with primary monosymptomatic nocturnal enuresis(PMNE),a new modified 3-day weekend frequency-volume chart(FVC)was designed,and the compliance and validity of this modified FVC was evaluated by comparing with the International Children's Continence Society(ICCS)recommended voiding *** A total of 1200 patients with PMNE were enrolled in the study from 13 centers in China and were randomly assigned to record this modified FVC or the ICCS-recommended voiding *** primary outcome measure was the compliance,assessed by comparing the completing index and the quality score of diaries between two *** secondary outcome measure was the validity,evaluated by comparing the constituent of subtypes,micturition parameters and response rate to *** Among the 1200 participants enrolled in the study,447 patients completed the ICCS-recommended voiding diary and 469 completed the modified *** diurnal completing index and the quality score of the modified FVC group were better than those of the ICCS *** addition,there was no significant difference between these two groups in the subtype classification,or in the response rate to *** The modified FVC could be applied to obtain the voiding characteristics of children with PMNE as the ICCS-recommended voiding diary does and offers a reasonable and better choice for children with PMNE from the unselected population in the future.

Variation and evolution of NP genes of human avian H_5N_1 virus strains

In order to reveal variation and revolution of NP genes of human avian H5 N1 influenza virus strains, the NP gene of a human avian H5 N1 influenza virus strain in Guangdong was sequenced and the global NP genes of strains were retrieved. The sequences were analyzed by DNAStar 5.0, and the evolutionary speed was studied with reference to the epidemiological data. It was found that NP genes of 45 strains during 1997-2006 were homologically classified into three groups： strains in 1997-1998, strains in 2004-2005 and strains from 2003 to 2006. There were 35 substitutions in NPs in all strains accounting for a ratio of 7.03% （35/498）. An additional glycoprotein domain （NGT430-432） was found in NP genes in the strains of 2003-2006, the mutation of N370S in GD-01-06 resulted in occurrence of one more glycoprotein domain （NES368-370）. In the synonymous variation, Ks values in NP were 2.03 × 10^-5-2.55 × 10^-5 Nt/d and K. values in NP were 1.58 × 10^-6-3.10 × 10^-6 Nt/d. There didn＇t exist obviously selective pressure. An additional glycoprotein domain in every strain of 2003-2006 and one more in strain GD-01-06 might change the antigenicity of human avian H5 N1 influenza virus. The variation on human avian H5 N1 influenza strains occurred frequently in the natural world, which would result in high probability of human-human transmission along with the natural evolution of the virus.

Spinal cord injuries impose a notably economic burden on society,mainly because of the severe after-effects they *** the ongoing development of various therapies for spinal cord injuries,their effectiveness remains ***,a deeper understanding of metabolism has opened up a new therapeutic opportunity in the form of metabolic *** this review,we explore the metabolic changes that occur during spinal cord injuries,their consequences,and the therapeutic tools available for metabolic *** spinal cord metabolism is characterized by independent cellular metabolism and intercellular metabolic ***,spinal cord injury results in metabolic disorders that include disturbances in glucose metabolism,lipid metabolism,and mitochondrial *** metabolic disturbances lead to corresponding pathological changes,including the failure of axonal regeneration,the accumulation of scarring,and the activation of *** rescue spinal cord injury at the metabolic level,potential metabolic reprogramming approaches have emerged,including replenishing metabolic substrates,reconstituting metabolic couplings,and targeting mitochondrial therapies to alter cell *** available evidence suggests that metabolic reprogramming holds great promise as a next-generation approach for the treatment of spinal cord *** further advance the metabolic treatment of the spinal cord injury,future efforts should focus on a deeper understanding of neurometabolism,the development of more advanced metabolomics technologies,and the design of highly effective metabolic interventions.
