Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the third leading cause of cancer-related death worldwide.1 E2 ubiquitin conjugating enzymes (UBE2) are potential therapeutic targets in tumors arising from genomic instability and tumor microenvironment (TME).2,3 UBE2S, an important UBE2, has demonstrated strong oncogenic activities in various malignant cancers, including HCC. However, a comprehensive study regarding its role in HCC is still absent, and its association with immunology and drug response of HCC is still unclear. In this study, we conducted a pan-cancer analysis of UBE2S expression and prognosis, carried out enrichment analysis of UBE2S-associated genes, and analyzed association between UBE2S expression and HCC microenvironment, stemness and drug response. Collectively, our results demonstrated that UBE2S expression was significantly increased in multiple types of cancer, including HCC, and harbors prognostic values for HCC. Potential function of UBE2S involves modulation of ubiquitin mediated proteolysis and cell cycle progression. Furthermore, in HCC, UBE2S expression was positively correlated with TME infiltration, microsatellite instability (MSI), DNA methylation, stemness and drug response. These findings highlighted the possible pivotal roles of UBE2S in HCC prognosis, precision immunotherapy and drug response.

The syndrome of multiple morphological abnormalities of the sperm flagella(MMAF)is a specific kind of asthenoteratozoospermia with a mosaic of flagellar morphological abnormalities(absent,short,bent,coiled,and irregular flagella).MMAF was proposed in 2014 and has attracted increasing attention;however,it has not been clearly understood.In this review,we elucidate the definition of MMAF from a systematical view,the difference between MMAF and other conditions with asthenoteratozoospermia or asthenozoospermia(such as primary mitochondrial sheath defects and primary ciliary dyskinesia),the knowledge regarding its etiological mechanism and related genetic findings,and the clinical significance of MMAF for intracytoplasmic sperm injection and genetic coun sell ng.This review provides the basic kno wledge for MMAF and puts forward some suggestions for further investigations.

Massive multiple-input multiple-output(MIMO),a technique that can greatly increase spectral efficiency(SE)of cellular networks,has attracted significant interests in recent years.One of the major limitations of massive MIMO systems is pilot contamination,which will deteriorate the SE.The superimposed pilot-based scheme has been proved to be a viable method for pilot contamination reduction.However,it cannot break through another limitation of massive MIMO,i.e.,spatial correlation.In addition,it will also lead to interference between the pilot and user data since they are imposed together.In this paper,we try to tackle these two issues,which will be described as follows.Firstly,a column-wise asymptotically orthogonal matrix,named as pseudo-channel matrix,is developed by orthogonalization of received signal.To recover the information about the large-scale fading(LSF)coefficients,the pseudo-channel matrix is truncated according to the cardinality of adjacent users set(CAUS).By this means,spatial correlation can be mitigated effectively.Secondly,robust independent component analysis(RobustICA)is used to reduce the interference caused by user data,and as a result the system performance can be further improved.Numerical simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

The southwestern depression of the Qiongdongnan Basin(QDNB)hosts thick Cenozoic sediments and awaits major hydrocarbon discovery.Multichannel seismic(MCS)profile CFT2011 across the southwestern QDNB reveals a~60-km-wide fuzzy reflection zone(FRZ)within the sediments,but its origin and distribution remain unclear.Here ocean bottom seismometer(OBS)data of Line CFT2011 are processed with focus on the velocity structures by traveltime tomography inversion and analyzed together with the coincident and adjacent MCS profiles.The OBS velocity results show that the giant FRZ features lower velocity with difference up to 1.5 km/s and smaller vertical velocity gradient than the surrounding sedimentary sequences at the same depth,likely resulting from enhanced fluid infilling.The MCS profile exhibits that the giant FRZ is about 3-9-km thick and extends from the Paleogene strata rich in organic matters upward to the lower Pleistocene sediments.Within the shallow overlying sediments,multiple bright spots with reverse polarity are imaged and their reflection amplitudes increase with offset,consistent with the features of gas-charged sediments.They are probably shallow gas reservoirs with gases sourced from the deep FRZ.Therefore,the FRZ is proposed to be a giant gas-charged zone,which probably contains lots of hydrocarbon gases migrated vertically from the deep Paleogene source rocks through the boundary faults of the depressions and the minor fractures generated under overpressure.This FRZ is also imaged on the adjacent MCS profiles MCS-L1 and MCS-L2 with the width of about 40 km and 68 km,respectively.It is roughly estimated to cover an area of~1900 km2 and host a volume of~11400 km3 assuming an average thickness of 6 km,implying huge natural gas potential in the sedimentary depression of the southwestern QDNB of the South China Sea.

Professional dance is characterized by high impulsiveness,elegance,and aesthetic beauty.In order to reach the desired professionalism,it requires years of long and exhausting practice,good physical condition,musicality,but also,a good understanding of choreography.Capturing dance motions and transferring them to digital avatars is commonly used in the film and entertainment industries.However,so far,access to high-quality dance data is very limited,mainly due to the many practical difficulties in capturing the movements of dancers,making it prohibitive for largescale data acquisition.In this paper,we present a model that enhances the professionalism of amateur dance movements,allowing movement quality to be improved in both spatial and temporal domains.Our model consists of a dance-to-music alignment stage responsible for learning the optimal temporal alignment path between dance and music,and a dance-enhancement stage that injects features of professionalism in both spatial and temporal domains.To learn a homogeneous distribution and credible mapping between the heterogeneous professional and amateur datasets,we generate amateur data from professional dances taken from the AIST++dataset.We demonstrate the effectiveness of our method by comparing it with two baseline motion transfer methods via thorough qualitative visual controls,quantitative metrics,and a perceptual study.We also provide temporal and spatial module analysis to examine the mechanisms and necessity of key components of our framework.

Slow oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)involving proton transport remains the limiting factor for electrochemical performance of proton-conducting cathodes.To further reduce the operating temperature of protonic ceramic fuel cells(PCFCs),developing triple-conducting cathodes with excellent electrochemical performance is required.In this study,K-doped BaCo_(0.4)Fe_(0.4)Zr_(0.2)O_(3−δ)(BCFZ442)series were developed and used as the cathodes of the PCFCs,and their crystal structure,conductivity,hydration capability,and electrochemical performance were characterized in detail.Among them,Ba_(0.9)K_(0.1)Co_(0.4)Fe_(0.4)Zr_(0.2)O_(3−δ)(K10)cathode has the best electrochemical performance,which can be attributed to its high electron(e^(−))/oxygen ion(O^(2−))/H^(+)conductivity and proton uptake capacity.At 750℃,the polarization resistance of the K10 cathode is only 0.009Ω·cm^(2),the peak power density(PPD)of the single cell with the K10 cathode is close to 1 W·cm^(−2),and there is no significant degradation within 150 h.Excellent electrochemical performance and durability make K10 a promising cathode material for the PCFCs.This work can provide a guidance for further improving the proton transport capability of the triple-conducting oxides,which is of great significance for developing the PCFC cathodes with excellent electrochemical performance.

Janus polymerization consists of anionic and cationic ring opening polymerizations(AROP and CROP)at the two ends of a single propagating polymer chain,followed by a self-triggered chain extension generating multiblock copolymers(MBCPs)in one step.In the contribution,Janus polymerization by Tm(OTf)_(3) or Er(OTf)_(3) catalyst with an epoxy initiator is applied to synthesize MBCPs of semi-crystalline poly(ε-caprolactone)(PCL)blocks from coordinated AROP and poly(1,3-dioxolane-co-ε-caprolactone)(P(DO-co-CL))blocks from CROP of DO with CL.Meanwhile,amorphous random copolymers[P(DO-r-CL)]are synthesized as control by employing other rare earth triflates[RE(OTf)_(3),RE=Y,Nd,Gd and Lu]as catalysts or in the absence of an initiator via CROP.On account of the distinguishable chemical structures and thermal properties between Janus MBCPs and cationic random copolymers,Janus features are confirmed including the CROP and AROP at a single propagating chain.The resultant amphiphilic copolymers self-assemble to nanoparticles in aqueous solution with designable diameters with the corresponding ratios of hydrophilic and hydrophobic seg-ments.MBCPs exhibit good shape memory properties with appropriate deformation temperature close to human body's,providing a prospect on the applications in biomedical devices.

Photoelectrochemical(PEC) hydrogen production from water splitting is a green technology to convert solar energy into renewable hydrogen fuel. The construction of host/guest architecture in semiconductor photoanodes has been proven to be an effective strategy to improve solar-to-fuel conversion efficiency. In this study, WO_(3)@Fe_(2)O_(3) core-shell nanoarray heterojunction photoanodes are synthesized from the in-situ decomposition of WO_(3)@Prussian blue(WO_(3)@PB) and then used as host/guest photoanodes for photoelectrochemical water splitting, during which Fe_(2)O_(3) serves as guest material to absorb visible solar light and WO_(3) can act as host scaffolds to collect electrons at the contact. The prepared WO_(3)@Fe_(2)O_(3) shows the enhanced photocurrent density of 1.26 m A cm^(-2)(under visible light) at 1.23 V. vs RHE and a superior IPEC of 24.4% at 350 nm, which is higher than that of WO_(3)@PB and pure WO_(3)(0.43 m A/cm^(-2) and 16.3%, 0.18 m A/cm^(-2) and 11.5%) respectively, owing to the efficient light-harvesting from Fe_(2)O_(3) and the enhanced electron-hole pairs separation from the formation of type-Ⅱ heterojunctions, and the direct and ordered charge transport channels from the one-dimensional(1D) WO_(3) nanoarray nanostructures. Therefore, this work provides an alternative insight into the construction of sustainable and cost-effective photoanodes to enhance the efficiency of the solar-driven water splitting.

Compared with traditional hydraulic actuators, an Electro-Mechanical Actuator(EMA)is small in size and light in weight, so it has become more widely used. Aerodynamic load on aircraft control surface varies dramatically, and a change of flight environment leads to uncertainties of motor parameters. Therefore, high-dynamic response and strong anti-disturbance capability of an EMA are of great significance for aircraft rudder control and flight attitude adjustment. In order to improve dynamic response and disturbance rejection of an EMA and simplify control parameters tuning, a robust high-dynamic servo system based on Linear Active Disturbance Rejection Control(LADRC) is proposed for an EMA employing a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor(PMSM).Firstly, total disturbances of the EMA are analyzed, including parameter uncertainties, load variation, and static friction. A disturbance observer based on a reduced-order Extended State Observer(ESO) is designed to improve the anti-interference ability and dynamic performance. Secondly, the servo control architecture is simplified to a double-loop system, and a composite control of position and speed with acceleration feed-forward is presented to improve the EMA frequency bandwidth.Thirdly, the ideal model of the EMA is transformed into a simple cascade integral form with a disturbance observer, which makes it convenient to analyze and design the controller. Robustness performance comparisons are realized in frequency domain. Finally, simulation and experimental results have verified the effectiveness of the proposed strategy for EMAs.

To the Editor:As of January 27,2022,there were 363,062,293 cases and 5,645,884deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic1.The prevalent mutated strains have aggravated the global pandemic2.SARS-Co V-2 is highly mutable,and the mutations on the spike(S)protein resulted in a high transmission of COVID-19 and vaccine breakthrough infection3.For example,there is a notable decrease in neutralizing ability of BNT162b2 vaccination-elicited antibodies against the Delta and other variants4,5,and attenuation of peak viral burden and vaccine effectiveness are reduced with Delta variant6.
