Interfacial Electronic Modulation of Dual-Monodispersed Pt–ni_(3)S_(2) as Efficacious Bi-Functional Electrocatalysts for Concurrent H_(2) Evolution and Methanol Selective Oxidation

Constructing the efficacious and applicable bifunctional electrocatalysts and establishing out the mechanisms of organic electro-oxidation by replacing anodic oxygen evolution reaction(OER) are critical to the development of electrochemicallydriven technologies for efficient hydrogen production and avoid CO_(2) emission. Herein, the hetero-nanocrystals between monodispersed Pt(~ 2 nm) and ni_(3)S_(2)(~ 9.6 nm) are constructed as active electrocatalysts through interfacial electronic modulation, which exhibit superior bi-functional activities for methanol selective oxidation and H_(2) generation. The experimental and theoretical studies reveal that the asymmetrical charge distribution at Pt–ni_(3)S_(2) could be modulated by the electronic interaction at the interface of dual-monodispersed heterojunctions, which thus promote the adsorption/desorption of the chemical intermediates at the interface. As a result, the selective conversion from CH_(3)OH to formate is accomplished at very low potentials(1.45 V) to attain 100 m A cm^(-2) with high electronic utilization rate(~ 98%) and without CO_(2) emission. Meanwhile, the Pt–ni_(3)S_(2) can simultaneously exhibit a broad potential window with outstanding stability and large current densities for hydrogen evolution reaction(HER) at the cathode. Further, the excellent bi-functional performance is also indicated in the coupled methanol oxidation reaction(MOR)//HER reactor by only requiring a cell voltage of 1.60 V to achieve a current density of 50 m A cm^(-2) with good reusability.

Isotopic characteristics and source analysis of atmospheric ammonia during agricultural periods in the Xichuan area of the Danjiangkou Reservoir

nitrogen deposition is an important means of exogenous nitrogen input in reservoir *** activities around the reservoir lead to a sharp increase in the concentration of ammonia in the atmosphere,which poses a threat to the reservoir water *** the contribution of agricultural ammonia release to atmospheric nH_(x)(gaseous nH_(3)and particulate nH_(4)^(+)),in the reservoir area can provide a theoretical foundation for local reactive nitrogen *** collected atmospheric nH_(3)and nH_(4)^(+)samples during the agricultural periods and analyzed the isotopic characteristics of atmospheric nH_(x)and the contribution rates of different ammonia sources in the Xichuan area of the Danjiangkou *** results showed that the initialδ~(15)n values of nH_(3)(-30.0‰to–7.2‰)and particulate nH_(4)^(+)(–33‰to+4.9‰for finer and coarser particles,respectively)are different,and their contribution ratios from dissimilar ammonia sources are also different,among which nH_(4)^(+)is more susceptible to meteorological ***,since the atmospheric nH_(x)in the Xichuan area is mainly gaseous nH_(3),the final sources of atmospheric ammonia nitrogen source depend on gaseous nH_(3).Agricultural sources(59%-74%)were the main nH_(3)sources in this *** them,the fertilizer use emission was dominant;it had the highest contribution rate in summer during the agricultural period and a more prominent impact in areas with less human *** regulation of the application of high-ammonia releasing fertilizer,especially during the agricultural period in summer,is an effective way to reduce the threat of atmospheric ammonia to water health.

Regulating ion transport behaviors toward dendrite-free potassium metal batteries:recent advances and perspectives

With abundant potassium resources and high capacity,potassium metal batteries(PMBs)present a compelling option for the next generation of energy storage ***,PMBs suffer from an unstable anode interface caused by uncontrolled dendrite growth,which results in unsatisfactory cyclability and safety *** investigations suggest that significant progress has been made in enhancing the interfacial stability of *** various effective strategies for stabilizing interfaces can ultimately be attributed to the regulation of the sluggish ion transfer kinetics and irregular deposition,i.e.,the arrangement of ion transport behaviors at the *** modulation of ions transport rate and ions deposition directions makes it possible to obtain a dendrite-free and smooth deposition ***,the influencing factors and action mechanism of K^(+)interface transport behaviors are discussed to understand the nature of material design for constructing stable anode interfaces,including regulating the solvation and desolvation structures,accelerating K^(+)transport kinetics and controlling K^(+)deposition *** addition,the deficiencies and prospects of the research on electrolyte,separators and designed electrode involved in the manufacturing and testing and ion transport process of PMBs are *** review is expected to provide some possible directions for constructing dendrite-free interfaces in advanced PMBs-related research and offer significant insights for prospective experimental research and commercial applications.

Photocatalytic degradation of tetracycline by copper(I)oxide loaded on Daylily Stalk derived carbon material

In this work,Daylily Stalks derived n doped carbon material(n-DSC)with a high specific surface area was firstly prepared by a chemical activation method,and then cubic Cu_(2)O nanoparticles were combined with the prepared n-DSC to obtain n-DSC/Cu_(2)O composite as the catalyst for the photocatalytic degradation of tetracycline(TC)antibiotics under visible *** is found that the obtained composite had higher photocatalytic activity than pure Cu_(2)***,25 wt%n-DSC/Cu_(2)O composite showed the highest photocatalytic performance with 95%of TC degradation within 100 min and more excellent *** with various characterizations,it is confirmed that carbon bonds should be conducive to the separation of photoelectron and hole,and the carbon layer with an excellent electrical conductivity on Cu_(2)O can reduce the charge transfer resistance between n-DSC and Cu_(2)O,thereby improving the absorption of visible light and enhancing the photocatalytic ***,it is considered that the synergistic effect of photo-generated electron pair in Cu_(2)O and n-DSC could promote the photodegradation efficiency of n-DSC/Cu_(2)O *** addition,the active species capture experiment confirmed that•OH and•O_(2)􀀀should be the main active species for TC degradation under visible *** study is expected to provide a novel low-cost photocatalysts for pollutants removal.

A composite material comprising a carbon layer and spherical carbon/carbon cloth(C-SC/CC)was fabricated using a hydrothermal-pyrolysis method,employing carbon cloth as the substrate and glucose as the carbon *** C-SC/CC electrode was evaluated as an electrocatalytic electrode for hydrogen production by electrolysis of Bunsen reaction *** electrode prepared with 4 g of glucose and annealed at 800°C showed excellent electrocatalytic *** requires only a potential of 185 mV(***)to achieve a current density of 10 mA/***,the electrode demonstrated good stability with a 6%loss in current density after 1000 cycles of scanning from 0.2 V to 1.2 *** results indicate the potential of the SC/CC electrode as an efficient and durable electrocatalyst for the electrolysis of H2SO4 and HI.

Revealing Al-O/Al-F reaction dynamic effects on the combustion of aluminum nanoparticles in oxygen/fluorine containing environments:A reactive molecular dynamics study meshing together experimental validation

Improving the energy conversion efficiency in metallic fuel(e.g.,Al)combustion is always desirable but challenging,which often involves redox reactions of aluminum(Al)with various mixed oxidizing *** instance,Al-O reaction is the most common pathway to release limited energy while Al-F reaction has received much attentions to enhance Al combustion ***,microscopic understanding of the Al-O/Al-F reaction dynamics remains unsolved,which is fundamentally necessary to further improve Al combustion *** this work,for the first time,Al-O/Al-F reaction dynamic effects on the combustion of aluminum nanoparticles(n-Al)in oxygen/fluorine containing environments have been revealed via reactive molecular dynamics(RMD)simulations meshing together combustion *** RMD simulation systems of Al core/O_(2)/HF,n-Al/O_(2)/HF,and n-Al/O_(2)/CF4 with oxygen percentage ranging from 0%to 100%have been *** n-Al combustion in mixed O_(2)/CF_4 environments have been conducted by constant volume combustion *** results show that Al-O reaction exhibits kinetic benefits while Al-F reaction owns thermodynamic benefits for n-Al *** n-Al/O_(2)/HF,Al-O reaction gives faster energy release rate than Al-F reaction(1.1 times).The optimal energy release efficiency can be achieved with suitable oxygen percentage of 10%and 50%for n-Al/O_(2)/HF and n-Al/O_(2)/CF_4,*** combustion experiments,90%of oxygen percentage can optimally enhance the peak pressure,pressurization rate and combustion ***,Al-O reaction prefers to occur on the surface regions while Al-F reaction prefers to proceed in the interior regions of n-Al,confirming the kinetic/thermodynamic benefits of Al-O/Al-F *** synergistic effect of Al-O/Al-F reaction for greatly enhancing n-Al combustion efficiency is demonstrated at atomicscale,which is beneficial for optimizing the combustion performance of metallic fuel.

Self-assembled VS_(2) microflowers buffering volume change during charging and discharging towards high-performance zinc ion batteries

VS_(2) has attracted increasing attention as a cathode material for aqueous zinc ion batteries because of its proper large layer spacing,weak interlayer interactions,multiple valence states of V,and excellent electrical conductivity,but its large volume change during charging and discharging leads to poor cycling ***,we report a one-step hydrothermal synthesis of VS_(2) microflowers with proper lamellar spacing,which provides a stable framework for the insertion/deinsertion of zinc ions and enhances the cycling stability,delivering an initial charge capacity of 128.3 mAh g^(-1) at 3 A g^(-1) and maintains a charge capacity of 100.1 mAh g^(-1) after 900 *** addition,the optimized VS_(2) cathode shows specific capacities of 215.7 and 150.5 mAh g^(-1) at the current densities of 0.1 and 2 A g^(-1),respectively,demonstrating that the microflower structure with a high specific surface area and a short diffusion distance also significantly enhances the rate performance.

Electronic modulation of sprout-shaped niCoP nanoarrays by n and Ce doping for efficient overall water splitting

Bifunctional catalysts for hydrogen/oxygen evolution reactions(HER/OER)are urgently needed given the bright future of water splitting hydrogen production ***,the self-supporting n and Ce dual-doped niCoP nanoarrays(denoted n,Ce-niCoP/nF)grown on ni foam are successfully *** the n,Ce-niCoP/nF simultaneously acts as the HER and OER electrodes,the voltages of 1.54 and 2.14 V are obtained for driving 10 and 500 mA·cm^(-2)with a robust durability,and demonstrate its significant potential for practical water *** to both experiments and calculations,the electronic structure of niCoP may be significantly altered by strategically incorporating n and Ce into the lattice,which in turn optimizes the Gibbs free energy of HER/OER intermediates and speeds up the water splitting ***,the sprout-shaped morphology significantly increases the exposure of active sites and facilitates charge/mass transfer,thereby augmenting catalyst *** study offers a potentially effective approach involving the regulation of anion and cation double doping,as well as architectural engineering,for the purpose of designing and optimizing innovative electrocatalysts.

Antarctic krill Euphausia superba plays a key role in the Antarctic food *** trophic linkage between krill and other macro-organisms has been studied in the past decades,but the variability of parasites in krill is less studied and remains poorly ***,it is important to understand the factors that influence abundance and infection of parasites in ***,the relationship between the infection intensity of parasite and krill diet needs to be clarified,which is helpful for understanding the role of parasite in the food *** investigated the abundance of the highly prevalent gregarine parasites in the digestive tract of krill and the factors influencing the gregarine infection to krill in the East *** infection rate of Cephaloidophora pacifica Avdeev,1985 to krill(n=50 individuals)was 94%.The results of generalized linear model show the infection intensity of *** to the host was related significantly to the station,krill size,and maturity stage,but not the food species and abundance in the stomach of *** of *** in krill differed among stations,and the lowest abundance occurred in the station nearest to the *** abundance varied among sexual maturity stages of krill and increased with krill size.
