RNF213 in moyamoya disease: Genotype-phenotype association and the underlying mechanism

Moyamoya disease (MMD) is a cerebrovascular disorder characterized by a steno-occlusive internal carotid artery and compensatory vascular network formation. Although the precise pathogenic mechanism remains elusive, genetic association studies have identifiedRNF213 as the principal susceptibility gene for MMD, with the single nucleotide polymorphism p.R4810K recognized as the founder variant predominantly in the Asian populations. Distinct genotype-phenotype correlations are observable inRNF213-related MMD. The clinical manifestations linked to p.R4810K bear commonalities within Asian cohort, including familial predisposition, earlier age of onset, ischemic episodes, and involvement of the posterior cerebral artery (PCA). However, despite these shared phenotypic characteristics, there is significant heterogeneity inRNF213-related MMD presentations. This diversity manifests as variations across ethnic groups, inconsistent clinical symptoms and prognosis, and occurrence of other vasculopathies involvingRNF213. This heterogeneity, in conjunction with the observed low disease penetrance ofRNF213 mutations, suggests that the presence of these mutations may not be sufficient to cause MMD, underscoring the potential influence of other genetic or environmental factors. Although the current research might not have fully identified these additional contributors, experimental evidence points toward the involvement ofRNF213 in angiogenesis, lipid metabolism, and the immune response. Future research is required to unveil the molecular mechanisms and identify the factors that synergize withRNF213 in the pathogenesis of MMD.

Enhanced removal of ethylbenzene from gas streams in biotrickling filters by Tween-20 and Zn(Ⅱ)

The effects of Tween-20 and Zn（II） on ethylbenzene removal were evaluated using two biotrickling filters（BTFs）, BTF1 and BTF2. Only BTF1 was fed with Tween-20 and Zn（II）.Results show that ethylbenzene removal decreased from 94% to 69% for BTF1 and from 74%to 54% for BTF2 with increased organic loading from 64.8 to 189.0 g ethylbenzene/（m3·hr） at EBRT of 40 sec. The effect of EBRT（60–15 sec） at a constant ethylbenzene inlet concentration was more significant than that of EBRT（30–10 sec） at a constant organic loading. Biomass accumulation rate within packing media was reduced significantly.

A long-standing conjecture in complex geometry says that a compact Hermitian manifold with constant holomorphic sectional curvature must be Kèahler when the constant is non-zero and must be Chern flat when the constant is *** conjecture is known in complex dimension 2 by the work of Balas-Gauduchon in 1985(when the constant is zero or negative)and by Apostolov±Davidov±Muskarov in 1996(when the constant is positive).For higher dimensions,the conjecture is still largely *** this article,we restrict ourselves to pluriclosed manifolds,and confirm the conjecture for the special case of Strominger Kèahler-like manifolds,namely,for Hermitian manifolds whose Strominger connection(also known as Bismut connection)obeys all the Kaèhler symmetries.

Response of grain yield to plant density and nitrogen rate in spring maize hybrids released from 1970 to 2010 in Northeast China

The objective of this study was to identify the response of grain yield to plant density and nitrogen rate in spring maize hybrids released from 1970 to 2010 and grown extensively in Northeast ***-one hybrids were grown for 2 years in Northeast China at densities of 30,000,52,500,75,000,and 97,500 plants ha^(-1)and N application levels of 0,150,300,and 450 kg N ha^(-1).Irrespective of density or nitrogen application rate,grain yields both per plant and per unit area were significantly higher for newer than older *** plant density increased from 30,000 to 97,500 plant ha^(-1),yield per plant of 1970 s,1980 s,1990 s,and 2000 s hybrids decreased by 50%,45%,46%,and 52%,*** response of grain yield per unit area to plant density was *** estimated optimum plant densities were about 58,000,49,000,65,000,and 65,000 plants ha^(-1)for hybrids released in the 1970 s,1980s,1990 s,and 2000 s,*** theoretical optimum densities for the hybrids released from the 1970 s to the 2000 s increased by 1750 plants ha^(-1)decade^(-1).Nitrogen fertilization significantly increased grain yields per plant and per unit area for all *** theoretical optimum N application rates for high yield for hybrids released in the 1970 s and 1980 s were about 280 and 360 kg ha^(-1),and the hybrids from the 1990 s and 2000 s showed highest yield at 330 kg ha^(-1)*** significant difference in the grain yields of 2000 s hybrids between the N levels of 150 to 450 kg ha^(-1)was *** yield gains per plant and per unit area were found,with average increases of 17.9 g plant^(-1)decade^(-1)and936 kg ha^(-1)decade^(-1)over the period 1970–2010,*** gains were attributed mainly to increased yield per plant,contributed by increases in kernel number per ear and1000-kernel *** rates of lodging and barren plants of newer hybrids were significantly lower than those of older ones,especially at high plant density.
