Effect of coral sand on the mechanical properties and hydration mechanism of magnesium potassium phosphate cement mortar

Damaged structures on coral islands have been spalling and cracking due to the dual corrosion of tides and waves.To ensure easy access to aggregate materials,magnesium potassium phosphate cement(MKPC)and coral sand(CS)are mixed to repair damaged structures on coral islands.However,CS is significantly different from land-sourced sand in mineral composition,particle morphology,and strength.This has a substantial impact on the hydration characteristics and macroscopic properties of MKPC mortar.Therefore,in this study we investigated the compressive strength,interfacial mechanical properties,and corrosion resistance of MKPC CS mortar.Changes in the morphology,microstructure,and relative contents of hydration products were revealed by scanning electron microscope-energy dispersive spectrometer(SEM-EDS)and X-ray diffraction(XRD).The results indicated that the compressive strength increased linearly with the interfacial micro-hardness,and then stabilized after long-term immersion in pure water and Na2SO4 solution,showing excellent corrosion resistance.Compared with MKPC river sand(RS)mortar,the hydration products of CS mortar were an intermediate product 6KPO2·8H2O with a relative content of 3.9%at 1 h and 4.1%at 12 h.The hydration product MgKPO_(4)·6H_(2)O increased rapidly after 7-d curing,with an increased growth rate of 1100%.Our results showed that CS promoted the nucleation and formation of hydration products of MKPC,resulting in better crystallinity,tighter overlapping,and a denser interfacial transition zone.The results of this study provide technical support for applying MKPC mortar as a rapid repair material for damaged structures on coral islands.

Plasmonic molecular assays： Recent advances and applications for mobile health

Plasmonics-based biosensing assays have been extensively employed for biomedical applications. Significant advancements in use of plasmonic assays for the construction of point-of-care （POC） diagnostic methods have been made to provide effective and urgent health care of patients, especially in resource- limited settings. This rapidly progressive research area, centered on the unique surface plasmon resonance （SPR） properties of metallic nanostructures with exceptional absorption and scattering abilities, has greatly facilitated the development of cost-effective, sensitive, and rapid strategies for disease diagnostics and improving patient healthcare in both developed and developing worlds. This review highlights the recent advances and applications of plasmonic technologies for highly sensitive protein and nucleic acid biomarker detection. In particular, we focus on the implementation and penetration of various plasmonic technologies in conventional molecular diagnostic assays, and discuss how such modification has resulted in simpler, faster, and more sensitive alternatives that are suited for point-of-use. Finally, integration of plasmonic molecular assays with various portable POC platforms for mobile health applications are highlighted.

MXenes have aroused intensive enthusiasm because of their exotic properties and promising applications.However,to date,they are usually synthesized by etching technologies.Developing synthetic technologies provides more opportunities for innovation and may extend unexplored applications.Here,we report a bottom-up gas-phase synthesis of Cl-terminated MXene(Ti_(2)CCl_(2)).The gas-phase synthesis endows Ti_(2)CCl_(2) with unique surface chemistry,high phase purity,and excellent metallic conductivity,which can be used to accelerate polysulfide conversion kinetics and dramatically prolong the cyclability of Li-S batteries.In-depth mechanistic analysis deciphers the origin of the formation of Ti_(2)CCl_(2) and offers a paradigm for tuning MXene chemical vapor deposition.In brief,the gas-phase synthesis transforms the synthesis of MXenes and unlocks the hardly achieved potentials of MXenes.

Smartphone-based cytometric biosensors for point-of-care cellular diagnostics

Analysis on a single-cell basis is both fundamental and meaningful in biomedical research and clinical practice.Flow cytometry is one of the most popular approaches in this field with broad applications in cell sorting,counting,and identification of rare cells.However,the complicated design and bulky size of conventional flow cytometry have restricted their applications mainly in centralized laboratories.With the recent development of smartphone devices,smartphone-based cytometry has been explored and tested for single-cell analysis.Compared with traditional cytometers,smartphone-based cytometric biosensors are more suitable for point-of-care(POC)uses,such as on-site disease diagnosis and personal health monitoring.In this review article,the history of traditional flowcytometry is introduced,and advances of smartphone-enabled cytometry are summarized in detail based on different working principles.Representative POC applications of smartphone cytometers are also discussed.The achievements demonstrated so far illustrate the potential of smartphone-based cytometric devices to transform single-cell measurement in general,with a significant impact in POC diagnostics,preventive medicine,and cell biology.

Inherent-attribute-aware dual-graph autoencoder for rating prediction

Autoencoder-based rating prediction methods with external attributes have received wide attention due to their ability to accurately capture users'preferences.However,existing methods still have two significant limitations:i)External attributes are often unavailable in the real world due to privacy issues,leading to low quality of representations;and ii)existing methods lack considering complex associations in users'rating behaviors during the encoding process.To meet these challenges,this paper innovatively proposes an inherent-attribute-aware dual-graph autoencoder,named IADGAE,for rating prediction.To address the low quality of representations due to the unavailability of external attributes,we propose an inherent attribute perception module that mines inductive user active patterns and item popularity patterns from users'rating behaviors to strengthen user and item representations.To exploit the complex associations hidden in users’rating behaviors,we design an encoder on the item-item co-occurrence graph to capture the co-occurrence frequency features among items.Moreover,we propose a dual-graph feature encoder framework to simultaneously encode and fuse the high-order representations learned from the user-item rating graph and item-item co-occurrence graph.Extensive experiments on three real datasets demonstrate that IADGAE is effective and outperforms existing rating prediction methods,which achieves a significant improvement of 4.51%~41.63%in the RMSE metric.

Two-Photon Luminescence Imaging of Bacillus Spores Using Peptide-Functionalized Gold Nanorods

Bacillus subtilis spores(a simulant of Bacillus anthracis)have been imaged by two-photon luminescence(TPL)microscopy,using gold nanorods(GNRs)functionalized with a cysteine-terminated homing peptide.Control experiments using a peptide with a scrambled amino acid sequence confi rmed that the GNR targeting was highly selective for the spore surfaces.The high sensitivity of TPL combined with the high affi nity of the peptide labels enables spores to be detected with high fi delity using GNRs at femtomolar concentrations.It was also determined that GNRs are capable of signifi cant TPL output even when irradiated at near infrared(NIR)wavelengths far from their longitudinal plasmon resonance(LPR),permitting considerable fl exibility in the choice of GNR aspect ratio or excitation wavelength for TPL imaging.

为研究矿山露天-地下联合开采过程中围岩移动变化过程,以大红山铁矿露天-地下联合开采工程为依托,处理A34~A37勘探线间的微震事件,并对该微震事件时空分布规律进行研究。同时,推导可嵌入数值模拟中的基于微震事件的岩体损伤模型,利用该模型初步分析得到A34~A37勘探线间联采过程中岩体损伤及岩移发展过程,初步认为截至2019年,F2断层对地下矿开采导致的岩体移动的抑制作用基本失效,仅775 m标高附近的抑制效果存在,确定围岩陷落角为79.3°,移动角为74°。为确认基于微震监测的岩体损伤模型数值模拟计算的可靠性,采用随机介质放矿理论,结合现场实测地表塌陷情况,对数值模拟分析得到的岩移结论进行验证。研究可为类似矿山露天-地下联合开采岩移分析等提供一定参考。

目的探讨负压真空袋固定全上肢在乳腺癌保乳术后调强放射治疗(IMRT)中的体位精度及重复性价值。方法回顾性分析2020年10月至2022年5月乳腺癌保乳术后调强放疗患者34例,随机均分为试验组和对照组。试验组采用80 cm×120 cm真空袋全上肢塑型固定;对照组采用70 cm×100 cm真空袋上肢部分塑型固定,双手交叉置于额前。治疗前后分别获取左右(X)、头脚(Y)、腹背(Z)三维方向分次间、分次内的摆位误差(ΔP1、ΔP2);由ΔP1计算临床靶体积(CTV)至计划靶体积(PTV)三维方向的外放范围。计算当次治疗前后三维方向体表线偏移值ΔP3。两组ΔP1、ΔP2、ΔP3在同一方向上的摆位误差采用配对样本t检验;ΔP1与ΔP3在组内的相关性采用Pearson相关性分析。结果试验组和对照组在X、Y、Z三维方向上的ΔP1进行比较,差异无统计学意义(P>0.05);试验组和对照组在X、Y、Z三维方向上的PTV外扩值分别为4.97 mm、6.31 mm、5.38 mm和8.24 mm、9.96 mm、7.52 mm,差异有统计学意义(P=0.02)。试验组和对照组在Z方向的ΔP2分别为(0.29±1.02)mm、(-0.09±1.49)mm,ΔP3分别为(-0.63±0.95)mm、(-1.05±1.35)mm,两组差异均有统计学意义(P<0.05)。Pearson相关性分析结果显示,两组ΔP1与ΔP3在Z方向均存在相关性(r=0.450,P<0.05;r=0.630,P<0.05)。结论真空袋固定全上肢可提高乳腺癌保乳术后全乳IMRT中的体位精度及重复性,可能有一定的临床参考及推广价值。

金属矿“露天-崩落-充填”多采区联合开采地表移动规律研究

金属矿多采区、多方法联合开采产生的地表移动变形具有复杂性,为揭示联合开采岩体移动变形规律,以大红山铁矿“露天-崩落-充填”联合开采为例,开展了三维有限元全弹性数值模拟研究,并对地表自动全站仪位移监测数据进行了分析。研究结果表明:相比Ⅰ号铜矿体充填法开采,主矿体崩落法开采对地表移动及露天边坡的稳定性影响最大,移动范围已越过F2断层,并波及到露天顶部境界;地下充填与崩落法开采对露天顶部境界的水平位移是反向的,边坡易产生张拉开裂;地下主采区北部沿脉巷道在采动应力叠加下易发生开裂;监测数据表明,虽然地下崩落法开采造成的沉降位移未波及露天边坡,边坡稳定性较好,且地表开裂范围无明显扩展,但移动范围有进一步外扩的趋势。综合数值计算与监测数据分析结果,提出了保障联合开采的安全防护措施,包括边坡防护、设计优化、监测系统升级、塌陷坑废石回填治理等,从而有利于大红山铁矿多采区、多方法联合开采安全平稳过渡。

A loss-of-function mutant allele of a glycosyl hydrolase gene has been co-opted for seed weight control during soybean domestication

The resultant DNA from loss-of-function mutation can be recruited in biological evolution and development.Here,we present such a rare and potential case of“to gain by loss”as a neomorphic mutation during soybean domestication for increasing seed weight.Using a population derived from a chromosome segment substitution line of Glycine max(SN14)and Glycine soja(ZYD06),a quantitative trait locus(QTL)of 100-seed weight(q HSW)was mapped on chromosome 11,corresponding to a truncatedβ-1,3-glucosidase(βGlu)gene.The novel gene hsw results from a 14-bp deletion,causing a frameshift mutation and a premature stop codon in theβGlu.In contrast to HSW,the hsw completely lostβGlu activity and function but acquired a novel function to promote cell expansion,thus increasing seed weight.Overexpressing hsw instead of HSW produced large soybean seeds,and surprisingly,truncating hsw via gene editing further increased the seed size.We further found that the core 21-aa peptide of hsw and its variants acted as a promoter of seed size.Transcriptomic variation in these transgenic soybean lines substantiated the integration hsw into cell and seed size control.Moreover,the hsw allele underwent selection and expansion during soybean domestication and improvement.Our work cloned a likely domesticated QTL controlling soybean seed weight,revealed a novel genetic variation and mechanism in soybean domestication,and provided new insight into crop domestication and breeding,and plant evolution.
