Late Mesozoic magmatism in the Jiaodong Peninsula,East China:Implications for crust-mantle interactions and lithospheric thinning of the eastern North China Craton

A section from the Linglong gold deposit on the northwestern Jiaodong Peninsula,East China,containing Late Mesozoic magmatic rocks from mafic and intermediate dikes and felsic intrusions,was chosen to investigate the lithospheric evolution of the eastern North China Craton(NCC).Zircon U-Pb data showed that low-Mg adakitic monzogranites and granodiorite intrusions were emplaced during the Late Jurassic(~145 Ma) and late Early Cretaceous(112-107 Ma),respectively;high-Mg adakitic diorite and mafic dikes were also emplaced during the Early Cretaceous at^139 Ma and ~118 Ma,and 125-145 Ma and 115-120 Ma,*** geochemical data,including whole-rock major and trace element compositions and Sr-Nd-Pb isotopes,imply that the mafic dikes originated from the partial melting of a lithospheric mantle metasomatised through hydrous fluids from a subducted oceanic ***-Mg adakitic monzogranites and granodiorite intrusions originated from the partial melting of the thickened lower crust of the NCC,while high-Mg adakitic diorite dikes originated from the mixing of mafic and felsic *** Mesozoic magmatism showed that lithosphere-derived melts showed a similar source depth and that crust-derived felsic melts originated from the continuously thickened lower crust of the Jiaodong Peninsula from the Late Jurassic to Early *** infer that the lower crust of the eastern NCC was thickened through compression and subduction of the Palaeo-Pacific plate beneath the NCC during the Middle *** rollback of the plate from ~160 Ma resulted in lithospheric thinning and accompanied Late Mesozoic magmatism.

Tectonic evolvement of metamorphic complexes at Jilin paleocontinental margin during the transition from late Archaean to early Proterozoic

The kinematics and dynamical process of tectonic evolvement of metamorphic complexes at the interim from late Archaean to early Proterozoic is one of the key problems in geosciences. For the disputation on the genesis of metamorphic complexes at the margin of Jilin palaeocontinent, this paper takes the example of Banshigou region, Jilin Province to discuss the dynamical evolution of palaeocontinent during the transition from late Archaean to early Pro- terozoic (2600—2000 Ma). On the time sequence, from center to palaeocontinental margin, it shows a series of dynamical movements including underplating, horizontal movement, subduc- tion, intraplate extension and separation. And its corresponding sequence of kinematical modes is as follows: vertical movement, horizontal movement, extension and shearing in contact zone, uplift-sliding movement in paleocontinental margin and interformational sliding, resulting in such tectonite sequence, tectonic gneiss, gneissic complex, gneissic complex-mylonite, mylonite and fracture cleavage-mylonite, which consist of the main body of metamorphic complexes. Their palaeostresses are: < 20, 20.40, 21.72, 28.80 and 30.8-69.8 MPa respectively. The deforma- tional metamorphic temperature is between hornblende and low-grade greenschist facies. The general deformational characters of Jilin palaeocontinent reflect a complete dynamic system of crust evolution, which indicates that the formation of the metamorphic complexes and the tec- tonic evolution are altered from vertical movement to compression to extension. It also indicates a continuous tectonic transformation from deep to shallow, and from ductile to brittle. The trans- formation between different dynamic mechanisms not only forms tectonic rocks, but also benefits the linking up, exchange and enrichment with rock-forming minerals and ore-forming elements. Coupling Effects on Gold Mineralization of Deep and Shallow Structures in the Northwestern Jiaodong Peninsula, Eastern China

For understanding the possible deep-seated processes and geodynamic constrains on gold mineralization, comprehensive physicochemical and geochemical studies of gold mineralization have been undertaken within the paleo-lithosphere framework during the metailogenic epoch from the northwestern part of the Jiaodong Peninsula in this paper. A general image of the paleo-crust has been remained although it has been superimposed and reformed by post-metailogenic tectonic movements. The gold ore deposits occur usually in local uplifts and gradient belts featuring a turn from steep to gentle in granite-metamorphic contact zones, relative uplifts of gradient zones of the Curier isothermal interfaces, depressions of the Moho discontinuity and areas where depth contours are cut by isotherms perpendicularly. Gold mineralization and lithogenesis are characterized by high temperature, low pressure and high strength of thermal flux. The depth of mineralization ranges from 0.8 to 4.5 km. The depth of the top interface of the granitic complex in the metallogenic epoch is about 3 km. There is a low-velocity layer （LVL） at the bottom of the upper crust with a depth close to 19.5 km, which may be a detachment belt in the crust. The appearance of the LVL indicates the existence of paleo-hyperthermal fluid or relics of molten magma chambers, which reflects partial melting within the crust during the diagenetic and metallogenic epochs and the superposition effects of strike-slip shearing of the Taulu fault zone. The subsidence of the Moho is probably attributed to the coupling process of the NW-SE continental collision between North China and the Yangtze Block and the strike-slip movement of the Tanlu fault accompanied with underplating of mantle magma in the northwestern part of the Jiaodong Peninsula. Crucial control on magmatic-hydrothermal Sn deposit in the Tengchong block,SW China:Evidence from magma differentiation and zircon geochemistry

Magmatic-hydrothermal Sn deposits are commonly associated with high silica magmas,but why most global high silica granites do not bear economic Sn ore grades remains *** crucial factors controlling magmatic-hydrothermal Sn mineralization,including advanced fractionation and depressurization-induced rapid cooling,were revealed in the case study of the Guyong granitic pluton linked with the Xiaolonghe Sn deposit,in the Tengchong block,SW *** Guyong granitic pluton comprises three petrological facies:less evolved biotite syenogranite,evolved alkali granite and leucogranite,and highly evolved facies(the protolith of greisenized granite).Similar crystallization ages(~77 Ma)and gradual contact between different petrological facies indicate the Guyong granitic pluton records a continuous fractionation *** Carlo-revised Rayleigh fractionation model suggests the fractionation degree of the Guyong pluton is markedly high(>87 wt.%)that can only be achieved by a high initial water(≥4 wt.%)content in the parent granitic magma revealed by rhyolite-MELTS *** degree fractionation causes the first Sn enrichment but it also significantly increases the viscosity of evolved magmas,suppressing the exsolution and transport of hydrothermal ***,it must be compensated by the second critical factor:depressurization-induced rapid cooling,reflected by the occurrence of highly metamict zircons in the greisenized *** highly metamict feature,indicated by the large full width at half maximum(FWHM)values of zirconν3(SiO_(4)) peak(>19.5 cm^(-1)),suggests these zircons do not experience thermal annealing but rapidly ascend into a shallow cooling ***-induced rapid cooling facilitates exsolution and transport of hydrothermal fluids,interacting with wall rocks and resulting in Sn mineralization.

We investigate the role of crustal architectures playing in controlling the genesis and nature of supergiant Jiaodong orogenic gold system via seismic *** deployed an NWW-SEE-trending broadband seismic linear array traversing the province to construct a shear wave velocity(V_S)transect based on ambient noise *** crustal V_S transect reveals a prominent low velocity zone(LVZ)at 12–20 km depths across the whole province and high V_S anomalies at 8–12 km depths underneath the western part that hosts most of the ore *** interpret the former as a hydrothermal alteration zone related to mineralization and the latter as a crustal component containing large amounts of mafic rocks(e.g.,amphibolites).In addition,a listric fault system and a strike-slip fault system are imaged in the western and eastern parts of the province,*** features of crustal velocities with regional geological observations that ores are tempo-spatially associated with mafic dikes,we propose a model of gold metallogenic *** this model,ponding and degassing of the mafic magmas led to the formation of a hydrothermal alteration LVZ in the middle crust prior to ***,auriferous fluid was released from this intra-crustal hydrothermal alteration zone as it was heated by upwelling *** ore fluid ascending along the listric fault system possibly leached extra gold from the upper-crustal ***,the gold-rich fluid migrated up along different fault systems,leading to the disseminated-veinlet mineralization with great gold endowment in the western listric fault system and the quartz-vein type mineralization with relatively small ore tonnage in the eastern strike-slip fault system.

Alteration and mineralization styles of the orogenic disseminated Zhenyuan gold deposit, southeastern Tibet: Contrast with carlin gold deposit

Orogenic disseminated and Carlin gold deposits share much similarity in alteration and *** disseminated orogenic Zhenyuan Au deposit along the Ailaoshan shear zone,southeastern Tibet,was selected to clarify their *** alteration and mineralization from the different lithologies,including meta-quartz sandstone,carbonaceous slate,meta-(ultra)mafic rock,quartz porphyry and lamprophyre were *** to the mineral assemblage and replacement relationship in all types of host rocks,two reactions show general control on gold deposition:(1) replacement of earlier magnetite by pyrite and carbonaceous material;(2) alteration of biotite and phlogopite phenocrysts in quartz porphyry and lamprophyre into dolomite/ankerite and *** the lamprophyre is volumetrically minor and much less fractured than other host rocks,it contains a large portion of Au reserve,indicating that the chemically active lithology has played a more important role in gold precipitation compared to ***-ICP-MS analysis shows that Au mainly occurs as invisible gold in fine-grained pyrite disseminated in the host rocks,with Au content reaching to 258.95 *** diagenetic core of pyrite in meta-quartz sandstone enriched in Co,Ni,Mo,Ag and Hg is wrapped by hydrothermal pyrite enriched in Cu,As,Sb,Au,Tl,Pb and *** host rock lithology has much impact on the alteration and mineralization *** and sericite in altered lamprophyre show they have higher Mg than those developed in other of host rocks denoting that the carbonate and sericite incorporated Mg from phlogopite phenocrysts in the primary lamprophyre during *** ore fluid activated the diagenetic pyrite in meta-quartz sandstone leading the hydrothermal pyrite enriched in Cu,Mo,Ag,Sb,Te,Hg,Tl,Pb and Bi,but the hydrothermal pyrite in meta-(ultra)mafic rock is enriched in Co and Ni as the meta-(ultra)mafic rock host rock contain high content of Co and ***,Au and As s

Tourmaline geochemistry and boron isotopic variations as a guide to fluid evolution in the Qiman Tagh W-Sn belt, East Kunlun, China

The Qiman Tagh W-Sn belt lies in the westernmost section of the East Kunlun Orogen, NW China, and is associated with early Paleozoic monzogranites, tourmaline is present throughout this belt. In this paper we report chemical and boron isotopic compositions of tourmaline from wall rocks, monzogranites, and quartz veins within the belt, for studying the evolution of ore-forming fluids. Tourmaline crystals hosted in the monzogranite and wall rocks belong to the alkali group, while those hosted in quartz veins belong to both the alkali and X-site vacancy groups. Tourmaline in the walk rocks lies within the schorl-dravite series and becomes increasingly schorlitic in the monzogranite and quartz veins. Detrital tourmaline in the wall rocks is commonly both optically and chemically zoned,with cores being enriched in Mg compared with the rims. In the Al-Fe-Mg and Ca-Fe-Mg diagrams,tourmaline from the wall rocks plots in the fields of Al-saturated and Ca-poor metapelite, and extends into the field of Li-poor granites, while those from the monzogranite and quartz veins lie within the field of Li-poor granites. Compositional substitution is best represented by the MgFe_(-1), Al(NaR)_(-1), and AlO(Fe(OH))_(-1) exchange vectors. A wider range of δ^(11)B values from -11.1‰ to -7.1‰ is observed in the wall-rock tourmaline crystals, the B isotopic values combining with elemental diagrams indicate a source of metasediments without marine evaporates for the wall rocks in the Qiman Tagh belt. The δ^(11)B values of monzogranite-hosted tourmaline range from -10.7‰ and-9.2‰, corresponding to the continental crust sediments, and indicate a possible connection between the wall rocks and the monzogranite. The overlap in δ^(11)B values between wall rocks and monzogranite implies that a transfer of δ^(11)B values by anataxis with little isotopic fractionation between tourmaline and melts. Calcite Dissolution in Deionized Water from 50℃ to 250℃ at 10 MPa:Rate Equation and Reaction Order

Carbonate minerals and water （or geofluids） reactions are important for modeling of geochemical processes and have received considerable attention over the past decades. The calcite dissolution rates from 50℃ to 250℃ at 10 MPa in deionized water with a flow rate varying from 0.2 to 5 mL/min were experimentally measured in a continuous flow column pressure vessel reactor. The dissolution began near the equilibrium with c/ceq 〉 0.3 and finally reached the equilibrium at 100℃-250℃, so the corresponding solubility was also determined as 1.87, 2.02, 2.02 and 1.88×10^-***/L at 100℃, 150℃, 200℃ and 250℃ respectively, which was first increasing and then switching to decreasing with temperature and the maximum value might occur between 150℃ and 200℃. The experimental dissolution rate not only increased with temperature, but also had a rapid increase between 150℃ and 200℃ at a constant flow rate of 4 mL/min. The measured dissolution rates can be described using rate equations of R = k（1-c/ceq）n or R = kc-n. In these equations the reaction order n changed with temperature, which indicates that n was a variable rather than a constant, and the activation energy was 13.4 kJ/mol calculated with R = k（1-c/ceq）n or 18.0 kJ/mol with R = kc^-n, which is a little lower than the surface controlled values. The varied reaction order and lower activation energy indicates that calcite dissolution in this study is a complex interplay of diffusion controlled and surface controlled processes.

Late Paleozoic Fluid Systems and Their Ore-forming Effects in the Yuebei Basin,Northern Guangdong,China

Based on detailed and systematic researches of the geology of ore deposits, fluid inclusions and isotope geochemistry etc., and regarding the Late Paleozoic fluid system of the Yuebei Basin as an integrated object in this paper, we have revealed the temporo-spatial evolution law of the basin＇s fluid system and discussed its ore-forming effects by simulating and analyzing the distribution of ore-forming elements, the fluid thermodynamics and dynamics of evolution processes of this basin. The results show that Late Paleozoic ore-forming fluid systems of the Yuebei Basin include four basic types as follows. （1） The sea floor volcanic-exhalation system developed during the rapid basin slip-extension stage in the Mid-Late Devonian, which affected the Dabaoshan region. It thus formed the Dabaoshan-type Cu-Pb-Zn-Fe sea floor volcanic-exhalation sedimentary deposits. （2） The compaction fluid system developed during the stable spreading and thermal subsidence-compression stage of the basin in the Mid-Late Devonian. The range of its effects extended all over the whole basin. It resulted in filling-metasomatic deposits, such as the Hongyan-type pyrite deposits and pyrite sheet within the Fankou-type Cu-Pb-Zn-S deposits. （3） The hot water circulation system of sea floor developed during the stage of basin uplifting and micro-aulacogen from the late Late Carboniferous to Middle Carboniferous. The range of its effects covered the Fankou region. It thus formed MVT deposits, such as the main orebody of the Fankou-type Pb-Zn-S deposits. （4） The gravity fluid system developed during the stage of fold uplifting and the basin closed from Middle Triassic to Jurassic, forming groundwater hydrothermal deposits, e.g. the veinlet Pb-Zn-calcite orebodies of the Fankou-type Pb-Zn- S deposits. Migration and concentration of the ore-forming fluids were constrained by the state of temporo-spatial distribution of its fluid potential.
