Background:Computed tomography(CT)plays a great role in characterizing and quantifying changes in lung structure and function of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD).This study aimed to explore the performance of CT-based whole lung radiomic in discriminating COPD patients and non-COPD ***:This retrospective study was performed on 2785 patients who underwent pulmonary function examination in 5 hospitals and were divided into non-COPD group and COPD *** radiomic features of the whole lung volume were *** absolute shrinkage and selection operator(LASSO)logistic regression was applied for feature selection and radiomic signature construction.A radiomic nomogram was established by combining the radiomic score and clinical *** operating characteristic(ROC)curve analysis and decision curve analysis(DCA)were used to evaluate the predictive performance of the radiomic nomogram in the training,internal validation,and independent external validation ***:Eighteen radiomic features were collected from the whole lung volume to construct a radiomic *** area under the curve(AUC)of the radiomic model in the training,internal,and independent external validation cohorts were 0.888[95%confidence interval(CI)0.869–0.906],0.874(95%CI 0.844–0.904),and 0.846(95%CI 0.822–0.870),*** were higher than the clinical model(AUC were 0.732,0.714,and 0.777,respectively,Plinical factor ***:The intuitive nomogram constructed by CT-based whole-lung radiomic has shown good performance and high accuracy in identifying COPD in this multicenter study.

Long-term outcomes of gemcitabine and cisplatin in patients with recurrent or metastatic esophageal squamous cell carcinoma： a phase Ⅱ trial

Background Esophageal cancer is the sixth most common cause of cancer-related death worldwide. Prior studies had demonstrated potential synergistic antitumor activity of gemcitabine in combination with cisplatin. Therefore, we studied the efficacy and tolerability of such combination for esophageal cancer. Methods Between October 2003 and October 2006, thirty-eight patients with metastatic or recurrent advanced squamous cell carcinoma of the esophagus were enrolled. The median number of treatment cycles per patient was 4 （range 1-7）. Gemcitabine was given at 1000 mg/m2 over 30 minutes on days 1, 8 and cisplatin 40 mg/m2 was given on days 1,2 in an every 21-day cycle. Results The median follow-up for all 38 patients was 76 months （range 11-88 months）. The overall response rate was 42.1% （95%Cl, 25.5%-56.5%）. Median progression-free survival and median survival for all patients were 4.1 months （95%C/, 3.0-5.7 months） and 10 months （95%C/, 7-12 months）, respectively. Patients with a response had significantly longer median survival compared with the patients without a response （11 months vs. 7.5 months, P=0.0069）. Overall survival at 1 year was 36.8%, at 2 years was 10.5%, and at 5 years was 5.3%. The most common grade 3-4 toxicity for all patients was leucopenia （44.7%）. Conclusions This cisplatin-gemcitabine regimen was manageable and had significant efficacy in patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma. Patients with a response had improved survival time. Furthermore, a small number of the Datients with metastatic esoohaaeal cancer were still alive in 5 vears with this reaimen.

The stability of matrix graphite under neutron irradiation and in corrosive environments is crucial for the safe operation of molten salt reactors(MSRs).Raman spectroscopy and a slow positron beam were employed to investigate the effects of He ion irradiation fluences and subsequent annealing on the microstructure and defects of the matrix *** ions with 500 keV energy and fluences ranging from 1.1×10^(15)ions∕cm^(2)to 3.5×10^(17)ions∕cm^(2)were used to simulate neutron irradiation at 300 *** samples with an irradiation fluence of 3.5×10^(16)ions∕cm^(2)were subjected to isochronal annealing at different temperatures(573 K,873 K and 1173 K)for 3 *** Raman results revealed that the D peak gradually increased,whereas the intrinsic G peak decreased with increasing irradiation *** the same irradiation fluence,the D peak gradually decreased,whereas the intrinsic G peak increased with increasing annealing *** positron beam analysis demonstrated that the density or size of irradiation defects(vacancy type)increased with higher irradiation fluence,but decreased rapidly with increasing annealing *** Raman spectral analysis of sample cross sections subjected to high irradiation fluences revealed the emergence of amorphization precisely at the depth where ion damage was most pronounced,whereas the surface retained its crystalline *** and positron annihilation analyses indicated that the matrix graphite exhibited good irradiation resistance to He ions at 300 ***,vacancy-type defects induced by He ion irradiation exhibit poor thermal stability and can be easily removed during annealing.

Dear Editor,This letter deals with the stabilization problem of nonlinear stochastic systems via self-triggered impulsive control(STIC), where the timing of impulsive control actions is not dependent on continuous state monitoring. In contrast to the existing self-triggered control method, novel self-triggered mechanism(STM) is proposed by incorporating a waiting time for stabilizing impulses. This allows for direct prediction of the next impulsive instant.

Tomato is a model system for studying fleshy fruit *** fertilization,cell division and expansion in the pericarp are crucial for fruit development and determine the final fruit ***3 was found to be expressed in the tomato ovary wall/pericarp of zero to two days post-anthesis fruits as a KNOX I class member,but its function in fruit development was ***,we found that mutations of TKN3 by CRISPR/Cas9 caused fruit developmental defects,and fruit weight was dramatically reduced in the tkn3cr *** observation of fruit pericarps revealed that mutation of TKN3 repressed cell expansion after fertilization,leading to flattened cells in the mesocarp and thereby thinner pericarps in red ***,tkn3cr mutants also displayed pleiotropic phenotypes including enlarged leaves and floral organs,indicating conserved functions in meristem maintenance and leaf *** two-hybrid and BiFC assays further showed that TKN3 could interact with Solyc10g086640(a homolog of Arabidopsis PNY),which has a similar expression pattern as ***-wide identification of genes regulated by TKN3 indicated that the auxin and gibberellin(GA)pathways might mediate the function of *** works revealed that TKN3 controls cell expansion in pericarps,and provides new insights into the roles of KNOX proteins in fruit development.

Buoyancy-driven flows are prevalent in a wide range of geophysical and astrophysical systems. In this review, we focus on threepivotal effects that significantly influence the dynamics and transport properties of buoyancy-driven flows and may have impli-cations for natural systems. These effects pertain to the role of boundary conditions, the impact of rotation, and the effect offinite size. Boundary conditions represent how the fluid flow interacts with different kinds of surfaces. Rotation, as the Earth’srotation in geophysical systems or the whirling of astrophysical systems, introduces Coriolis and centrifugal forces, leading tothe profound vortical structure and distinct transport property. Finite size, representing geometrical constraints, influences thebehavior of buoyancy-driven flows across varying geometrical settings. This review aims to provide a holistic understanding ofthe intricate interplay of these factors, offering insights into the complex natural phenomena from the perspectives of the threeeffects.

This paper extends the one-dimensional(1D) nonlocal strain gradient integral model(NStraGIM) to the two-dimensional(2D) Kirchhoff axisymmetric nanoplates,based on nonlocal strain gradient integral relations formulated along both the radial and circumferential directions. By transforming the proposed integral constitutive equations into the equivalent differential forms, complemented by the corresponding constitutive boundary conditions(CBCs), a well-posed mathematical formulation is established for analyzing the axisymmetric bending and buckling of annular/circular functionally graded(FG) sandwich nanoplates. The boundary conditions at the inner edge of a solid nanoplate are derived by L'H?spital's rule. The numerical solution is obtained by the generalized differential quadrature method(GDQM). The accuracy of the proposed model is validated through comparison with the data from the existing literature. A parameter study is conducted to demonstrate the effects of FG sandwich parameters, size parameters, and nonlocal gradient parameters.

Plants have mechanisms to transport secondary metabolites from where they are biosynthesized to the sites where they function,or to sites such as the vacuole for ***,current research has mainly focused on metabolite biosynthesis and regulation,and little is known about their ***,a class diterpenoid with medicinal properties,is biosynthesized in the periderm of Salvia miltiorrhiza ***,we discovered that tanshinone can be transported out of peridermal cells and secreted into the soil environment and that the ABC transporter SmABCG1 is involved in the efflux of tanshinoneⅡA and tanshinoneⅠ.The SmABCG1 gene is adjacent to the diterpene biosynthesis gene cluster in the *** *** temporal–spatial expression pattern of SmABCG1 is consistent with tanshinone accumulation ***1 is located on the plasma membrane and preferentially accumulates in the peridermal cells of *** *** expression in Xenopus laevis oocytes demonstrated that SmABCG1 can export tanshinoneⅡA and tanshinoneⅠ.CRISPR/Cas9-mediated mutagenesis of SmABCG1 in *** hairy roots resulted in a significant decrease in tanshinone contents in both hairy roots and the culture medium,whereas overexpression of this gene resulted in increased tanshinone ***76AH3 transcript levels increased in hairy roots overexpressing SmABCG1 and decreased in knockout lines,suggesting that SmABCG1 may affect the expression of CYP76AH3,indirectly regulating tanshinone ***,tanshinoneⅡA showed cytotoxicity to Arabidopsis *** findings offer new perspectives on plant diterpenoid transport and provide a new genetic tool for metabolic engineering and synthetic biology research.
