Winter extreme precipitation over the Tibetan Plateau influenced by Arctic sea ice on interdecadal timescale

The Tibetan Plateau(TP)and the Arctic are the most sensitive regions to global climate ***,the interdecadal varibility of winter extreme precipitation over the TP and its linkage with Arctic sea ice are still *** this study,the characteristics and mechisnems of the TP extreme precipitation(TPEP)influenced by Arctic sea ice on interdecadal timescale are studied based on the daily precipitation,monthly sea ice concentration and ERA5 reanalysis data from 1980 to *** found that the dominant mode of the TPEP in winter mostly exhibits a uniform spatial variation on the interdecadal timescale,with an opposite weak variation in the southeastern TP,and the Arctic sea ice concentration(SIC)before 2002 are larger than that after *** interdecadal variation of TPEP is affected by two teleconnection wave trains regulated by the Barents and Kara Sea *** the light ice years,a remarkable positive geopotential height(HGT)anomaly appears over the Barents-Kara Sea and a remarkable negative HGT anomaly is located over the Lake *** wave trains originating over the Barents-Kara Sea can be *** southern branch forms a wave train through the North Atlantic along the subtropical westerly jet stream,showing a‘+-+-+'pattern of HGT anomalies from Arctic to the *** HGT anomaly controls the western TP,which creates dynamic and water vapor conditions for the *** northern branch forms a wave train through the Lake Baikal and the southeast of the TP,showing a‘+-+'HGT anomaly *** HGT anomaly controls the southeastern TP,which is not conducive to precipitation in the *** the SIC in the Barents-Kara Sea increases,the situation is *** above analysis also reveals the reason for the difference in the east-west distribution of the TPEP.

Asian summer monsoon responses to the change of land‒sea thermodynamic contrast in a warming climate:CMIP6 projections

It is of practical significance to use the updated Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 6(CMIP6)models to study the impact of changes in land‒sea thermodynamic contrast(TC)on the Asian summer monsoon under different scenarios and to compare the similarities and differences of the impact mechanisms between different monsoon *** this study,we investigated future changes of the Asian summer monsoon under four Shared Socioeconomic Pathway(SSP)scenarios using 19 CMIP6 *** intensity of the South Asian summer monsoon(SASM)is projected to decrease by 2.6%,6.3%,10.1%,and 11.1%,while the East Asian summer monsoon(EASM)intensity is projected to increase by 4.6%,7.9%,7.4%,and 9.8%until the end of the 21st century for SSP126,SSP245,SSP370,and SSP585 scenarios,***,summer precipitation in Asia is projected to increase remarkably in 2015-2099 under all four *** inconsistent warming trends over the Tibetan Plateau(TP),Northwest Pacific,and tropical Indian Ocean would greatly impact the monsoon *** upper-troposphere warming trend over the surrounding oceans is remarkably greater than that over the TP,while the near-surface warming trend over the surrounding oceans is smaller than that over the *** decrease of upper-troposphere TC between the TP and tropical Indian Ocean results in a weakening of the SASM *** enhancement of the lower-troposphere TC between the TP and Northwest Pacific would strengthen the EASM *** budget analysis shows that the water-vapor would increase in the future,which would thermodynamically enhance summer precipitation through the anomalous vertical moisture transport associated with mean *** strengthening of the meridional circulation of the EASM would increase monsoon precipitation,while the weakening of zonal circulation of the SASM would dynamically reduce South Asian summer precipitation.

Metasurface holography has great application potential in the fields of optical display, optical storage, and security. Traditional metasurface holography uses the well-designed subwavelength structure to modulate the incident laser beam. Although many researches about laser metasurface holography have been realized,metasurface holography based on quantum light sources is rare. Here, we realized quantum metasurface holography through single-photon and multichannel polarization multiplexing metasurfaces, and we compared the quantum results with laser results.

Effect of the vortical structures on the hydrodynamic performance of a pitching hydrofoil

The objective is to study the vortical structural behaviors of a transient pitching hydrofoil and their effects on the hydrodynamic performance. The pitching motion of the hydrofoil is set to pitch up with an almost constant rate from 5° to 15° and then back to 5°, with the Reynolds number 4.4×10^(5) and the frequency 2 Hz. The results show that the main coherent structures around the pitching hydrofoil include small-scale laminar separation bubble (LSB), large-scale second vortex (SV) and trailing edge vortex (TEV) which are all vortical. The relationship between the vortical structure and the lift is investigated with the finite-domain impulse theory. It indicates that the major part of the lift is contributed by the LSB, whereas the shedding and the formation of the SV and TEV cause the fluctuation of the lift. The proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) method is applied to capture the most energetic modes, revealing that the LSB mode occupies a large amount of energy in the flow field. The dynamic mode decomposition (DMD) method accurately extracts the dominant frequency and modal characteristics, with the first mode corresponding to the mean flow, the second mode corresponding to the LSB structure and the third and fourth modes corresponding to the vortex shedding.

BACKGROUND Ectopic bronchogenic cysts are a type of congenital cystic tumor that are extremely difficult to diagnose and can be ectopically located in various organs,with the possibility of malignant transformation. Here we report a case of an ectopic bronchogenic cyst in the liver initially misdiagnosed as a gallbladder *** SUMMARY The patient was a middle-aged woman whose chief complaint was intermittent pain in the upper abdomen. Imaging examination revealed a cystic space in the left inner lobe of the liver. She was admitted to our hospital for treatment. Based on abdominal examination and imaging findings, the initial diagnosis was gallbladder diverticulum with cholestasis combined with chronic ***, following intraoperative observations and postoperative pathologic assessment, the diagnosis was revised to ectopic bronchogenic cyst of the *** Radiologists, hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgeons, gastrointestinal surgeons,urologists, and even neurosurgeons should be aware and consider a possible diagnosis of ectopic bronchogenic cysts, especially when other types of cyst,cystadenoma, and other diseases are excluded. The disease and its complications should be detected and correctly diagnosed and treated as early as possible in order to avoid adverse outcomes.

Association between the cumulative triglyceride-glucose index and the recurrence of atrial fibrillation after radiofrequency catheter ablation

BACKGROUND Triglyceride-glucose(TyG)index values are a new surrogate marker for insulin *** study aimed to explore the relationship between cumulative TyG index values and atrial fibrillation(AF)recurrence after radiofrequency catheter ablation(RFCA).METHODS A total of 576 patients with AF who underwent RFCA at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University were included in this *** participants were grouped based on cumulative TyG index values tertiles within 3 months after *** regression and restricted cubic spline analyses were used to determine the relationship between cumulative TyG index values and AF *** predictive value of all risk factors was assessed by receiver operating curve *** There were 375 patients completed the study(age:63.23±10.73 years,64.27%male).The risk of AF recurrence increased with increasing cumulative TyG index values *** adjusting for potential confounders,patients in the medium cumulative TyG index group[hazard ratio(HR)=4.949,95%CI:1.778–13.778,P=0.002]and the high cumulative TyG index group(HR=8.716,95%CI:3.371–22.536,P<0.001)had a higher risk of AF recurrence than those in the low cumulative TyG index *** restricted cubic spline regression model also showed an increased risk of AF recurrence with increasing cumulative TyG index *** considering cumulative TyG index values,left atrial diameter,and lactate dehydrogenase levels as a comprehensive factor,the model could effectively predict AF recurrence after RFCA[area under the curve(AUC)=0.847,95%CI:0.797–0.897,P<0.001].CONCLUSIONS Cumulative TyG index values were a risk factor for AF recurrence after *** longitudinal TyG index values may assist with optimized for risk stratification and outcome prediction for AF recurrence.

Membrane technology has become one of the most promising separation technologies for its energy saving, high separation efficiency, environmental friendliness, and economic feasibility. Covalent organic frameworks(COFs) with intrinsically high porosity, controllable pore size, uniform pore size distribution and long-range ordered channel structure, have emerged as next-generation materials to fabricate advanced separation membranes. This feature article summarizes some latest studies in the development of pure COF membranes in our lab, including their fabrication and applications in chemical separations. Finally, current challenges facing high-performance COF separation membranes are discussed.

Development of component stiffness equations for thread-fixed one-side bolt connections to an enclosed rectangular hollow section column under tension

Reinforcement corrosion is the main cause of performance deterioration of reinforced concrete(RC)*** research has been performed to investigate the life-cycle cost(LCC)of coastal bridge piers with nonuniform corrosion using different *** this study,a reliability-based design optimization(RBDO)procedure is improved for the design of coastal bridge piers using six groups of commonly used materials,i.e.,normal performance concrete(NPC)with black steel(BS)rebar,high strength steel(HSS)rebar,epoxy coated(EC)rebar,and stainless steel(SS)rebar(named NPC-BS,NPC-HSS,NPC-EC,and NPC-SS,respectively),NPC with BS with silane soakage on the pier surface(named NPC-Silane),and high-performance concrete(HPC)with BS rebar(named HPC-BS).First,the RBDO procedure is improved for the design optimization of coastal bridge piers,and a bridge is selected to illustrate the ***,reliability analysis of the pier designed with each group of materials is carried out to obtain the time-dependent reliability in terms of the ultimate and serviceability ***,the repair time of the pier is predicted based on the time-dependent reliability ***,the time-dependent LCCs for the pier are obtained for the selection of the optimal design.
