Attenuation of Chlorinated Contamination in Three Different Depths of Aquifers at Remediation Site

The cleanup of carbon tetrachloride(CCl4)in groundwater is challenging due to its high volatility and tendency to form a dense nonaqueous liquid phase.From the engineering applications perspective,the pump-and-treat(PAT)technology has substantial advantages owing to its large-scale implementation ability to solve groundwater contamination.However,few studies focused on the variation in chloride contaminants in remediation sites after the contaminated groundwater was pumped and treated.Herein,we monitored the changes in chlorinated contamination in groundwater from 12 aquifers at the field level for 6 months.Considering that the natural attenuation of chlorinated contamination is inseparable from the action of microorganisms,the major environmental factors influencing biodegradation were also evaluated.A redundancy analysis(RDA)showed that inorganic salts(DS,DN,and DF)were the most important factor(>60%)affecting the concentration of chloride contaminants,including the negative correlation between DN and the degradation of contaminants in shallow aquifers.In deep aquifers,DS,DF,and pH explained most of the degradation of chloride contaminants.For bedrock layers,DCl was positively relevant to the chloride contaminants in wells PTJ2 and PTJ10.In addition,EC and DS accounted for 73.2%and 92.4%of the contaminant’s variance in wells PTJ4 and PTJ8,respectively.Moreover,the concentrations of the corresponding contaminations and physicochemical variation in three different depths of aquifers were compared;the shallower aquifers showed a higher biodegradation.The in situ monitoring and analysis of contaminated groundwater in remediation sites under PAT will promote practical wastewater treatment technologies in engineering applications.

Solid-state atomic hydrogen as a broad-spectrum RONS scavenger for accelerated diabetic wound healing

Hydrogen therapy shows great promise as a versatile treatment method for diseases associated with the overexpression of reactive oxygen and nitrogen species（RONS）. However, developing an advanced hydrogen therapy platform that integrates controllable hydrogen release, efficient RONS elimination, and biodegradability remains a giant technical challenge. In this study, we demonstrate for the first time that the tungsten bronze phase H0.53WO3（HWO） is an exceptionally ideal hydrogen carrier, with salient features including temperature-dependent highly-reductive atomic hydrogen release and broad-spectrum RONS scavenging capability distinct from that of molecular hydrogen. Moreover, its unique p H-responsive biodegradability ensures post-therapeutic clearance at pathological sites. Treatment with HWO of diabetic wounds in an animal model indicates that the solid-state atomic H promotes vascular formation by activating M2-type macrophage polarization and anti-inflammatory cytokine production, resulting in acceleration of chronic wound healing. Our findings significantly expand the basic categories of hydrogen therapeutic materials and pave the way for investigating more physical forms of hydrogen species as efficient RONS scavengers for clinical disease treatment.

Analysis of two naval pilots’ ejection injuries: Two case reports

BACKGROUND Recently,two naval pilots in a two-seat trainer jet were forced to eject urgently due to sudden mechanical failure during night-time training.They were both successfully rescued and sent to the hospital for emergency treatment.In this study,we investigate their ejection injuries and recovery process.CASE SUMMARY We analyzed the clinical data of the traumatic condition and recovery process from ejection injuries of two pilots who ejected from a failed trainer jet and survived.After being successfully rescued and sent to the hospital,they were diagnosed with multiple ejection injuries,including eye trauma,limb bone and joint injury,rib and spine injury,and so on.Both cases underwent fluid replacement,acid suppression,nutritional support,hemostasis,bone metabolism improvement,phlegm elimination,psychological measurement,blood circulation promotion and detumescence,physical therapy,and external fixation with braces for 1 mo before being discharged from hospital.They then recuperated in a sanatorium for 2 mo,and the related laboratory tests and supplementary examinations show that they recovered from all the above injuries.After successfully passing the psychological test and physical examination,they returned to flight duty 3 mo after ejection.CONCLUSION The causes and conditions of ejection injury in the pilots were very complex.Although they finally recovered quickly and were released,it also serves as a reminder that attention should be paid to pilots’ejection and parachute training in order to significantly reduce ejection injury and improve the ejection success rate.In addition,air defense support personnel should strengthen search and rescue and on-site emergency measures,and locate and rescue pilots in distress as early as possible to reduce subsequent injuries.

Weldability of 1000 MPa Grade Ultra-low Carbon Bainitic Steel

Maximum hardness test in weld heat-affected zone（HAZ）,oblique Y-groove cracking test and mechanical property test of welding joint of 1 000 MPa grade ultra-low carbon bainitic steel were carried out,so as to research the weldability of the steel.The results show that the steel has lower cold cracking sensitivity,and preheating temperature of 100 ℃ can help completely eliminate cold cracks,generating good process weldability.The increase of preheating temperature can reduce the hardening degree of heat-affected zone.The strength of welding joint decreases and hardness reduces when heat inputs increase,and excellent mechanical properties can be obtained when low welding heat inputs are used.Fine lath bainites of different orientations combined with a few granular bainites that effectively split the original coarse austenite grains are the foundation of good properties.

目的探讨急性缺血性脑卒中(AIS)机械取栓后出血转化(HT)的分型及影响因素。方法回顾性分析436例AIS机械取栓患者的临床资料,总结HT发生、临床分型和影像学分型,多因素logistic回归分析AIS机械取栓后HT的影响因素。结果HT发生率为16.5%,无症状、轻度症状、重度症状HT分别占HT总数的41.7%、31.9%和26.4%。HI-1、HI-2、PH-1、PH-2型分别占HT总数的43.1%、25.0%、20.8%和11.1%。糖尿病、取栓次数≥3次、入院时NIHSS评分>15分、术前CTA侧支循环评分≤3级、心源性栓塞型AIS、发病至入院时间>6 h是HT的独立危险因素(P<0.01或0.05)。结论AIS机械取栓后以无症状HT和HI-1型较为常见;AIS机械取栓后HT的独立危险因素较多。

FAM53B promotes pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma metastasis by regulating macrophage M2 polarization

BACKGROUND Our study investigated the role of FAM53B in regulating macrophage M2 polarization and its potential mechanisms in promoting pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma(PDAC)metastasis.AIM To further investigate the role of FAM53B in regulating macrophage M2 polarization and its potential mechanism in promoting PDAC metastasis.Our goal is to determine how FAM53B affects macrophage M2 polarization and to define its underlying mechanism in PDAC metastasis.METHODS Cell culture and various experiments,including protein analysis,immunohisto-chemistry,and animal model experiments,were conducted.We compared FAM53B expression between PDAC tissues and healthy tissues and assessed the correlation of FAM53B expression with clinical features.Our study analyzed the role of FAM53B in macrophage M2 polarization in vitro by examining the expression of relevant markers.Finally,we used a murine model to study the role of FAM53B in PDAC metastasis and analyzed the potential underlying mechanisms.RESULTS Our research showed that there was a significant increase in FAM53B levels in PDAC tissues,which was linked to adverse tumor features.Experimental findings indicated that FAM53B can enhance macrophage M2 polarization,leading to increased anti-inflammatory factor release.The results from the mouse model further supported the role of FAM53B in PDAC metastasis,as blocking FAM53B prevented tumor cell invasion and metastasis.CONCLUSION FAM53B promotes PDAC metastasis by regulating macrophage M2 polarization.This discovery could lead to the development of new strategies for treating PDAC.For example,interfering with the FAM53B signaling pathway may prevent cancer spread.Our research findings also provide important information for expanding our understanding of PDAC pathogenesis.

Ultraviolet‑Irradiated All‑Organic Nanocomposites with Polymer Dots for High‑Temperature Capacitive Energy Storage

Polymer dielectrics capable of operating efficiently at high electric fields and elevated temperatures are urgently demanded by next-generation electronics and electrical power systems.While inorganic fillers have been extensively utilized to improved high-temperature capacitive performance of dielectric polymers,the presence of thermodynamically incompatible organic and inorganic components may lead to concern about the long-term stability and also complicate film processing.Herein,zero-dimensional polymer dots with high electron affinity are introduced into photoactive allyl-containing poly(aryl ether sulfone)to form the all-organic polymer composites for hightemperature capacitive energy storage.Upon ultraviolet irradiation,the crosslinked polymer composites with polymer dots are efficient in suppressing electrical conduction at high electric fields and elevated temperatures,which significantly reduces the high-field energy loss of the composites at 200℃.Accordingly,the ultraviolet-irradiated composite film exhibits a discharged energy density of 4.2 J cm^(−3)at 200℃.Along with outstanding cyclic stability of capacitive performance at 200℃,this work provides a promising class of dielectric materials for robust high-performance all-organic dielectric nanocomposites.

Parkinson’s disease(PD)is a prevalent neurodegenerative disorder accompanied by movement disorders and neuroinflammatory injury.Anti-inflammatory intervention to regulate oxidative stress in the brain is beneficial for managing PD.However,traditional natural antioxidants have failed to meet the clinical treatment demands due to insufficient activity and sustainability.Herein,Cu-doping zeolite imidazolate framework-8(ZIF-8)nanozyme is designed to simulate Cu/Zn superoxide dismutase(SOD)by biomimetic mineralization.The nanozyme composite is then integrated into thermosensitive hydrogel(poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid)-poly(ethylene glycol)-poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid)(PLGA-PEG-PLGA))to form an effective antioxidant system(Cu-ZIF@Hydrogel).The thermosensitive hydrogel incorporating nanozymes demonstrate distinct viscoelastic properties aimed at enhancing local nanozyme adhesion,prolonging nanozyme retention time,and modulating antioxidant activity,thus significantly improving the bioavailability of nanozymes.At the cellular and animal levels of PD,we find that Cu-ZIF@Hydrogel bypass the blood-brain barrier and efficiently accumulate in the nerve cells.Moreover,the Cu-ZIF@Hydrogel significantly alleviate the PD’s behavioral and pathological symptoms by reducing the neuroinflammatory levels in the lesion site.Therefore,the hydrogel-incorporating nanozyme system holds great potential as a simple and reliable avenue for managing PD.

Dynamics of a prestressed Timoshenko beam subject to arbitrary external load

The free vibration and transient wave in a prestressed Rayleigh-Timoshenko beam subject to arbitrary transverse forces are analyzed by the newly developed method of reverberation-ray matrix (MRRM). The effects of shear deformation and rotational inertia are taken into consideration. With a Fourier transform technique, the general wave solutions with two sets of unknown amplitude coefficients are obtained in the transformed domain for an unbonded prestressed beam under the action of arbitrary external excitations. From the coupling at joints and the compatibility of displacements in each member, the free and forced vibration responses of a beam with various boundary conditions are finally evaluated through certain numerical algorithms. Results are presented for a simply-supported beam subject to either a point fixed load or moving load. Good agreement with the finite element method (FEM) is obtained. The present work is instructive for high-speed railway bridge design and structural health monitoring.
