Comparative Analysis of ARIMA and LSTM Model-Based Anomaly Detection for Unannotated Structural Health Monitoring Data in an Immersed Tunnel

Structural Health Monitoring(SHM)systems have become a crucial tool for the operational management of long tunnels.For immersed tunnels exposed to both traffic loads and the effects of the marine environment,efficiently identifying abnormal conditions from the extensive unannotated SHM data presents a significant challenge.This study proposed amodel-based approach for anomaly detection and conducted validation and comparative analysis of two distinct temporal predictive models using SHM data from a real immersed tunnel.Firstly,a dynamic predictive model-based anomaly detectionmethod is proposed,which utilizes a rolling time window for modeling to achieve dynamic prediction.Leveraging the assumption of temporal data similarity,an interval prediction value deviation was employed to determine the abnormality of the data.Subsequently,dynamic predictive models were constructed based on the Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average(ARIMA)and Long Short-Term Memory(LSTM)models.The hyperparameters of these models were optimized and selected using monitoring data from the immersed tunnel,yielding viable static and dynamic predictive models.Finally,the models were applied within the same segment of SHM data,to validate the effectiveness of the anomaly detection approach based on dynamic predictive modeling.A detailed comparative analysis discusses the discrepancies in temporal anomaly detection between the ARIMA-and LSTM-based models.The results demonstrated that the dynamic predictive modelbased anomaly detection approach was effective for dealing with unannotated SHM data.In a comparison between ARIMA and LSTM,it was found that ARIMA demonstrated higher modeling efficiency,rendering it suitable for short-term predictions.In contrast,the LSTM model exhibited greater capacity to capture long-term performance trends and enhanced early warning capabilities,thereby resulting in superior overall performance.

Background:Noise exposure can lead to hearing loss and multiple system dysfunctions.As various forms of noise exist in our living environments,and our auditory organs are very sensitive to acoustic stimuli,it is a challenge to protect our hearing system in certain noisy environments.Presentation of the hypothesis:Herein,we propose that our hearing organ could serve as a noise eliminator for high intensity noise and enhance acoustic signal processing abilities by increasing the signal-noise ratio.For suprathreshold signals,the hearing system is capable of regulating the middle ear muscles and other structures to actively suppress the sound level to a safe range.Testing the hypothesis:To test our hypothesis,both mathematic model analyses and animal model studies are needed.Based on a digital 3D reconstructed model,every structure in the auditory system can be analyzed and tested for its contribution to the process of noise reduction.Products manufactured by this bionic method could be used and verified in animal models and volunteers.Implications:By mimicking the noise-reduction effect of the sophisticated structures in the hearing system,we may be able to provide a model that establishes a new active-sound-suppression mode.This innovative method may overcome the limited capabilities of current noise protection options and become a promising possibility for noise prevention.

Effects of iron oxide on crystallization behavior and spatial distribution of spinel in stainless steel slag

Chromium plays a vital role in stainless steel due to its ability to improve the corrosion resistance of the latter.However,the re-lease of chromium from stainless steel slag(SSS)during SSS stockpiling causes detrimental environmental issues.To prevent chromium pollution,the effects of iron oxide on crystallization behavior and spatial distribution of spinel were investigated in this work.The results revealed that FeO was more conducive to the growth of spinels compared with Fe2O3 and Fe3O4.Spinels were found to be mainly distrib-uted at the top and bottom of slag.The amount of spinel phase at the bottom decreased with the increasing FeO content,while that at the top increased.The average particle size of spinel in the slag with 18wt%FeO content was 12.8μm.Meanwhile,no notable structural changes were observed with a further increase in FeO content.In other words,the spatial distribution of spinel changed when the content of iron oxide varied in the range of 8wt%to 18wt%.Finally,less spinel was found at the bottom of slag with a FeO content of 23wt%.

Mesenteric adipose tissue B lymphocytes promote intestinal injury in severe acute pancreatitis by mediating enteric pyroptosis

Background:Visceral adipose tissue(VAT)has been linked to the severe acute pancreatitis(SAP)prognosis,although the underlying mechanism remains unclear.It has been reported that pyroptosis worsens SAP.The present study aimed to verify whether mesenteric adipose tissue(MAT,a component of VAT)can cause secondary intestinal injury through the pyroptotic pathway.Methods:Thirty-six male Sprague Dawley(SD)rats were divided into six different groups.Twelve rats were randomly divided into the SAP and control groups.We monitored the changes of MAT and B lymphocytes infiltration in MAT of SAP rats.Twelve SAP rats were injected with MAT B lymphocytes or phosphate buffer solution(PBS).The remaining twelve SAP rats were first injected with MAT B lymphocytes,and then with MCC950(NLRP3 inhibitor)or PBS.We collected blood and tissue samples from pancreas,gut and MAT for analysis.Results:Compared to the control rats,the SAP group showed inflammation in MAT,including higher expression of tumor necrosis factor(TNF-α)and interleukin-6(IL-6),lower expression of IL-10,and histological changes.Flow cytometry analysis revealed B lymphocytes infiltration in MAT but not T lymphocytes and macrophages.The SAP rats also exhibited intestinal injury,characterized by lower expression of zonula occludens-1(ZO-1)and occludin,higher levels of lipopolysaccharide and diamine oxidase,and pathological changes.The expression of NLRP3 and n-GSDMD,which are responsible for pyroptosis,was increased in the intestine of SAP rats.The injection of MAT B lymphocytes into SAP rats exacerbated the inflammation in MAT.The upregulation of pyroptosis reduced tight junction in the intestine,which contributed to the SAP progression,including higher inflammatory indicators and worse histological changes.The administration of MCC950 to SAP+MAT B rats downregulated pyroptosis,which subsequently improved the intestinal barrier and ameliorated inflammatory response of SAP.Conclusions:In SAP,MAT B lymphocytes aggravated local inflammation,and promoted the injury to the int

Evaluation of the efficacy and safety of endoscopic band ligation in the treatment of bleeding from mild to moderate gastric varices type 1

BACKGROUND According to practice guidelines,endoscopic band ligation(EBL)and endoscopic tissue adhesive injection(TAI)are recommended for treating bleeding from esophagogastric varices.However,EBL and TAI are known to cause serious complications,such as hemorrhage from dislodged ligature rings caused by EBL and hemorrhage from operation-related ulcers resulting from TAI.However,the optimal therapy for mild to moderate type 1 gastric variceal hemorrhage(GOV1)has not been determined.Therefore,the aim of this study was to discover an individualized treatment for mild to moderate GOV1.AIM To compare the efficacy,safety and costs of EBL and TAI for the treatment of mild and moderate GOV1.METHODS A clinical analysis of the data retrieved from patients with mild or moderate GOV1 gastric varices who were treated under endoscopy was also conducted.Patients were allocated to an EBL group or an endoscopic TAI group.The differences in the incidence of varicose relief,operative time,operation success rate,mortality rate within 6 wk,rebleeding rate,6-wk operation-related ulcer healing rate,complication rate and average operation cost were compared between the two groups of patients.RESULTS The total effective rate of the two treatments was similar,but the efficacy of EBL(66.7%)was markedly better than that of TAI(39.2%)(P<0.05).The operation success rate in both groups was 100%,and the 6-wk mortality rate in both groups was 0%.The average operative time(26 min)in the EBL group was significantly shorter than that in the TAI group(46 min)(P<0.01).The rate of delayed postoperative rebleeding in the EBL group was significantly lower than that in the TAI group(11.8%vs 45.1%)(P<0.01).At 6 wk after the operation,the healing rate of operation-related ulcers in the EBL group was 80.4%,which was significantly greater than that in the TAI group(35.3%)(P<0.01).The incidence of postoperative complications in the two groups was similar.The average cost and other related economic factors were greater for the EBL than for the TAI(P<0.01).CONC

目的探究活血通督汤在大鼠坐骨神经损伤中的保护效应。方法选取了54只成年雄性大鼠,按照随机数字表法将其分为假手术组、模型对照组以及活血通督汤组,每组18只。再根据大鼠造模后处死的时间节点,分为术后第7、14、28天三个亚组,每个亚组6只大鼠。假手术组仅进行坐骨神经的暴露而没有进行钳夹处理,而模型组和活血通督汤组则采用钳夹法建立了坐骨神经损伤模型。在术后第7、14、28天分别处死各亚组大鼠并取材。观察大鼠坐骨神经受损程度及NICD和Hes1蛋白的表达水平。结果模型组的坐骨神经组织病理改变明显,随着时间推移未见改善趋势。活血通督汤组的坐骨神经组织病理变化较模型组有明显改善,随着时间推移呈进一步改善趋势。在蛋白表达方面,与模型对照组相比,活血通督汤组在术后各时间节点的NICD和Hes1的表达量都明显增加(P<0.01)。结论活血通督汤可能通过Notch信号转导通路促进坐骨神经损伤的修复。

El Niño and the AMO Sparked the Astonishingly Large Margin of Warming in the Global Mean Surface Temperature in 2023

In 2023,the majority of the Earth witnessed its warmest boreal summer and autumn since 1850.Whether 2023 will indeed turn out to be the warmest year on record and what caused the astonishingly large margin of warming has become one of the hottest topics in the scientific community and is closely connected to the future development of human society.We analyzed the monthly varying global mean surface temperature(GMST)in 2023 and found that the globe,the land,and the oceans in 2023 all exhibit extraordinary warming,which is distinct from any previous year in recorded history.Based on the GMST statistical ensemble prediction model developed at the Institute of Atmospheric Physics,the GMST in 2023 is predicted to be 1.41℃±0.07℃,which will certainly surpass that in 2016 as the warmest year since 1850,and is approaching the 1.5℃ global warming threshold.Compared to 2022,the GMST in 2023 will increase by 0.24℃,with 88%of the increment contributed by the annual variability as mostly affected by El Niño.Moreover,the multidecadal variability related to the Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation(AMO)in 2023 also provided an important warming background for sparking the GMST rise.As a result,the GMST in 2023 is projected to be 1.15℃±0.07℃,with only a 0.02℃ increment,if the effects of natural variability—including El Niño and the AMO—are eliminated and only the global warming trend is considered.

Thermal stability of permafrost under U-shaped crushed rock embankment of the qinghai-Tibet Railway

The U-shaped crushed rock embankment(UCRE),of which widely utilized in the permafrost regions along the qinghai-Tibet Railway,has the capability to rapidly reduce the ground temperature of the underlying permafrost.However,there remains uncertainty regarding the adaptation of UCRE to climate change and its long-term cooling trend.This study focuses on nine UCRE monitoring sites along the qinghai-Tibet Railway to analyze the dynamic variations of the ground temperature underlying permafrost from 2006 to 2020.The efficiency of UCRE in stabilizing permafrost temperature in different permafrost zones is evaluated by considering the permafrost table,ground temperature,and MAGT,as well as the temperature difference between the top and bottom of the crushed rock layer and the ground temperature variation index(GTVI).The results show that UCRE is suitable for application in extremely unstable warm permafrost regions where the MAGT is higher than-0.5℃.Moreover,UCRE effectively diminishes the disparity in permafrost thermal stability between the sunny and shaded shoulders of the embankment.The short-term and long-term effect of cooling permafrost is experiencing a change related with permafrost stability.Notably,in stable cold permafrost regions with MAGT lower than-1.5℃,the long-term cooling effect of UCRE on permafrost seems to gradually di-minishes,but UCRE continues to fulfill the role of stabilizing the underlying permafrost thermal state over the long-term.These results show that UCRE can quickly restore and stabilize the thermal state of permafrost in the early stages of construction,and adapt to the influence of future climate change.The findings provide important guidance for understanding the variations of permafrost thermal stability beneath the embankment in permafrost regions,as well as for improving the embankment stability and operational safety of the qinghai-Tibet Railway.

Strength reduction method for slope based on a ubiquitous-joint criterion and its application

In order to expand the application of strength reduction methods with the ubiquitous-joint criterion,the corresponding program is compiled using FLAC3D software.A procedure for strength reduction in the ubiquitous-joint criterion is proposed to study the safety factor of slopes as well as the relationships of the bedding plane inclination angle β and the safety factor F.The results show that:1) for the bedding rock slope,the various failure modes cause different variations of the safety factor F;2) a bedding rock slope can be divided into two types by the angle between the bedding plane inclination and slope surface inclination α;when α≤45°,the bedding slope can be strictly defined as the subsequent bedding rock slope;when 45°<α<90°,the bedding slope is defined as an oblique bedding slope;3) for bedding rock slopes,the safety factor increases with an increase in α;for inverse bedding slopes,when the bedding plane inclination angle β is small,the safety factor F of the slope increases at first,then decreases with an increase in α;when β is large,the safety factor F increases with an increase in α.

Foreign bodies(FBs)ingestion in children is one of the common presentations to the emergency department.The majority of FBs ingestion occurs in children younger than 3 years,with males showing a slight predominance[1].Although most FBs pass through the gastrointestinal tract spontaneously,some FBs need urgent medical intervention and even surgical management owing to the complications of obstruction or perforation and a potential risk to children’s health[2].Therefore,timely diagnosis and rational treatment are crucial for reducing FBs complications.However,optimal indications and/or timing of surgery remain controversial.In this study,we discussed the characteristics of FBs ingestion in children and summarized our experience in its management.
