Automatic detection of small bowel lesions with different bleeding risks based on deep learning models

BACKGROUND Deep learning provides an efficient automatic image recognition method for small bowel(SB)capsule endoscopy.CE)that can assist phy.icians in ***,the existing deep learning models present some unresolved *** To propose a novel and effective classification and detection model to automatically.identify.various SB lesions and their bleeding risks,and label the lesions accurately.so as to enhance the diagnostic efficiency.of phy.icians and the ability.to identify.high-risk bleeding *** The proposed model represents a two-stage method that combined image classification with object ***,we utilized the improved ResNet-50 classification model to classify.endoscopic images into SB lesion images,normal SB mucosa images,and invalid ***,the improved y.LO-V5 detection model was utilized to detect the ty.e of lesion and its risk of bleeding,and the location of the lesion was *** constructed training and testing sets and compared model-assisted reading with phy.ician *** The accuracy.of the model constructed in this study.reached 98.96%,which was higher than the accuracy.of other sy.tems using only.a single *** sensitivity.specificity.and accuracy.of the model-assisted reading detection of all images were 99.17%,99.92%,and 99.86%,which were significantly.higher than those of the endoscopists’*** image processing time of the model was 48 ms/image,and the image processing time of the phy.icians was 0.40±0.24 s/image(Py.diagnostic effect on a variety.of SB lesions and their bleeding risks in CE images,which enhances the diagnostic efficiency.of phy.icians and improves the ability.of phy.icians to identify.high-risk bleeding groups.

The mode-division multiplexing technique combined with a few-mode erbium-doped fiber amplifier(FM-EDFA)demonstrates significant potential for solving the capacity.limitation of standard single-mode fiber(SSMF)transmission ***,the differential mode gain(DMG)arising in the FM-EDFA fundamentally.limits its transmission capacity.and ***,an innovative DMG equalization strategy.using femtosecond laser micromachining to adjust the refractive index(RI)is *** mode-dependent attenuations can be achieved according to the DMG profile of the FM-EDFA,enabling DMG *** validate the proposed strategy.DMG equalization of the commonly.used FM-EDFA configuration was *** results revealed that by.optimizing both the length and RI modulation depth of the femtosecond laser-tailoring area,the maximum DMG(DMGmax)among the 3 linear-polarized(LP)mode-group was mitigated from 10 dB to 1.52 dB,whereas the average DMG(DMGave)over the C-band was reduced from 8.95 dB to 0.78 ***,a 2-LP mode-group DMG equalizer was experimentally.demonstrated,resulting in a reduction of the DMGmax from 2.09 dB to 0.46 dB,and a reduction of DMGave over the C band from 1.64 dB to 0.26 dB,with only.a 1.8 dB insertion ***,a maximum range of variable DMG equalization was achieved with 5.4 dB,satisfy.ng the requirements of the most commonly.used 2-LP mode-group amplification scenarios.

Sex differences in human pre-gastrulation embry.s

Human fetuses exhibit notable sex differences in growth rate and response to the intrauterine environment, y.t their origins and underly.ng mechanisms remain uncertain. Here, we conduct a detailed investigation of sex differences in human pre-gastrulation embry.s. The lower methy.ation and incomplete inactivation of the X chromosome in females, as well as the sex-specific cell-cell communication patterns,contribute to sex-differential transcription. Male trophectoderm is more inclined toward sy.cy.iotrophoblast differentiation and exhibits a stronger hormone secretion capacity. while female trophectoderm tends to retain cy.otrophoblast program with stronger mitochondrial function as well as higher vasculogenesis and immunotolerance signals. Male primitive endoderm initiates the anterior visceral endoderm transcriptional program earlier than females. The cell cy.le activities of the epiblast and primitive endoderm are higher in males compared to females, while the situation is opposite in the trophectoderm. In conclusion, our study.provides in-depth insights into the sex differences in human pre-gastrulation embry.s and contributes to unraveling the origins of the sex differences in human fetal development.

This study.aimed to investigate the effects of male hepatitis B virus(HBV)infection on male fertility.embry.nic development,and in vitro fertilization/intracy.oplasmic sperm injection(IVF/ICSI)*** performed a retrospective cohort study.that included 3965 infertile couples who received fresh embry. transfer cy.les for the first time at the Fujian Maternity.and Child Health Hospital(Fuzhou,China)from January.2018 to January.*** couples were categorized based on their HBV infection status into the HBV group(HBV-positive men and HBV-negative women)and the control group(HBV-negative couples).A 1:1 propensity.score matching was performed with relatively.balanced *** characteristics,semen parameters,laboratory.outcomes,clinical outcomes,and obstetric and neonatal outcomes were compared between *** propensity.score matching,821 couples were included in each *** groups had similar semen parameters and obstetric and neonatal *** HBV group showed a significantly.lower live birth rate than the control group(Py.higher abortion rate than the control group(Py.embry.s and blastocy.t formation were significantly.lower in the HBV group than those in the control group(both P<0.05).In conclusion,in couples who undergo IVF/ICSI,male HBV infection reduces the live birth rate and increases the risk of ***,the incidence of low birth weight in women with IVF/ICSI does not increase with male HBV infection.
