Treatment of the acute thromboembolic event during endovascular embolization of intracranial aneurysm

Objective:The study aimed to discuss the treatment of acute thromboembolic event(TE)during endovascular embolization of intracranial ***:Between April 2013 and April 2019,158 patients with 167 intracranial aneurysms were treated with endovascular embolization in our hospital,in which 9 cases of acute TEs occurred during the embolization *** clinical data,radiological findings and treatments of the 9 patients were reviewed and ***:The TEs occurred at the aneurysmal neck in 3 patients,at distal part of the parent artery in 3,in the stent in 2,and at the proximal part of the parent artery in ***-arterial(IA)infusion of tirofiban were performed in 6 patients,mechanical thromboectomy(MT)with a stent in 2 patients,and combined use of the two methods in 1 *** to the modified Thrombolysis In Cerebral Infarction(mTICI)score,7 patients had recanalization of 2b/3a,1 patients had recanalization of 1,and 1 patients had recanalization of *** discharge,the mRS score was 0 in 3 patients,1 in 3 patients,and 2,3,4 in 1 patient each.6 months after the endovascular treatment,the mRS score was 0 in 5 patients,1 in 2 patients,and 3 in 1 ***:IA tirofiban and MT are effective remedies for the acute TE during endovascular embolization of intracranial aneurysm,reasonable selection of which may improve the prognosis of patients.

Carbonate clumped isotope(Δ47)is a new and reliable *** carbonates in lake sediments are good archives to reconstruct lake water temperature using clumped isotope ***,applications of carbonate clumped isotope thermometry to lacustrine carbonates are still scarce because the existed organic and/or sulfur contaminants in such samples interfere with clumped isotope analysis and cause notable temperature ***,exploring an effective way to remove contamination is a prerequisite to widely applying carbonate clumped isotope thermometry to lake *** pretreating fine-grained endogenic carbonates from Dali lake sediments with hydrogen peroxide of different concentrations for different lengths of time,we conducted a series of conditional experiments to seek the optimal pretreatment condition for clumped isotope analysis.Δ47,Δ48 offset and 49 parameter were obtained from clumped isotope measurements to assess the effect of contamination *** showed that untreated samples("0%-0")had a very high 49 *** the treatment with hydrogen peroxide,the 49 parameter was significantly reduced while theΔ48 offset evidently ***Δ47,Δ48 offset and 49 parameter of samples pretreated under different conditions showed significant variability,even though the measuredΔ47 temperatures changed within a relatively narrow range(i.e.,from 17.0±1.3 to 22.8±1.6°C).Among various treated samples,the sample"3%-8"yielded a smallerΔ48 offset and 49 parameter,and lowerΔ47 temperature of 17.0±1.3°***,"reacting with 3%hydrogen peroxide for 8 h"was suggested to be the optimal condition for removing contaminants from lacustrine endogenic carbonates prior to clumped isotope *** the time when the pretreatment condition was too intense(i.e.,H2O2 concentration>3%and/or reaction time>8 h),secondary contaminants might have been generated in the closed reaction system,whose ultimately transformed state may interfere wit

Arsenic pollution poses a serious threat to human health,and is one of the most concerning environmental problems *** adsorption,fixation,and dissolution behaviors of arsenic on the surface of iron-(hydr-)oxides influence the environmental routes of arsenic cycle *** inner-sphere and outer-sphere adsorption configurations of arsenic on iron oxides have been proposed based on X-ray adsorption ***,there is no systematic study on the in situ speciation analysis and adsorption kinetics of these species at such interfaces,because of the lack of an efficient monitoring *** correlation of surface speciation and environmental stability is still ***,a shell-isolated SiO_(2)@Ag@Au-based surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy(SERS)platform was developed for speciation analysis of the adsorbed arsenic species by eliminating the chemical interaction between arsenic and *** ferrihydrite as a typical iron oxide,the intrinsic Raman spectra of the inner-sphere(~830 cm^(−1))and outer-sphere(~660 cm^(−1))complexes at the adsorption interface were *** the first time,the in situ kinetic monitoring of the formation and transformation of these species was *** correlating the speciation to the sequential extraction results,the environmental stability of arsenic on ferrihydrite was shown to be closely related to the adsorption *** was shown that stability can be significantly promoted by transforming loosely bonded species(outer-sphere complexes)into inner-sphere *** work demonstrated the applicability of SERS with shell-isolated plasmonic particles for arsenic geochemical cycle monitoring and mechanism *** also provided a convenient tool for developing effective strategies for arsenic pollutant control and abatement.

Existing visualized tracer studies of the corticospinal tract have been focused on rodents, which have markedly different spinal cord structures compared with humans. In this study, the segmental artery feeding the spinal cord was embolized with digital subtraction angiography to establish a goat model of ischemic spinal cord injury. Biotinylated dextran amine was injected into the motor function areas of the cortex in goats with ischemic spinal cord injury. The corticospinal tract originates from the cerebral cortex motor function area, and travels towards the lateral funiculus at the contralateral spinal dorsal horn after decussation at the pyramid. The number of corticospinal tract positive fibers was found to be gradually reduced. These findings indicate that digital subtraction angiography can be applied to a goat model of ischemic spinal cord injury. Biotinylated dextran amine visualizes the course of the goat corticospinal tract in the spinal cord, which is similar to the human spinal cord. Biotinylated dextran amine is an ideal tracer for the corticospinal tract.

Dear Editor,Electric vehicle(EV)sales have significantly grown over the years to fulfill growing demands for economic travel and greenhouse gas mitigation.1 However,the surge in the number of EVs has led to charging anxiety as users struggle to find an available charging station before running out of electricity,resulting in longer reserve and waiting times.2 Moreover,severe mobility restrictions caused by infectious diseases,such as coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19),have greatly affected people’s travel behavior3,4 and hindered their willingness to use EVs,given that charging in public spaces consumes time and increases the risk of contracting the virus.5 This implies that in the postpandemic era,in which individuals coexist with the virus,the interplay between the two important trends,namely vehicle electrification and mobility restrictions,can extensively affect people’s daily commuting by using EVs.

Superalloys are commonly used in aircraft manufacturing;however,the requirements for high surface quality and machining accuracy make them difficult to *** this study,a hybrid electrochemical discharge process using variable-amplitude pulses is proposed to achieve this *** this method,electrochemical machining(ECM)and electrical discharge machining(EDM)are unified into a single process using a sequence of variable-amplitude pulses such that the machining process realizes both good surface finish and high machining ***,the machining mechanism of the hybrid electrochemical discharge process using variable-amplitude pulses is *** mechanism is investigated by observations of machining waveforms and machined *** is found that,with a high-frequency transformation between high-and low-voltage waveforms within a voltage cycle,the machining mechanism is frequently transformed from EDM to pure *** critical discharge voltage is 40 *** pulse voltages greater than 40 V are applied,the machining accuracy is good;however,the surface has defects such as numerous discharge *** machining accuracy is maintained when high-voltage pulses are replaced by low-voltage pulses to enhance electrochemical *** results indicate that the proposed hybrid electrochemical discharge process using variable-amplitude pulses can yield high-quality surfaces with high machining accuracy.

Remediation of 2,4-dichlorophenol-contaminated groundwater using nano-sized CaO_(2)in a two-dimensional scale tank

This study evaluates the applicability of nano-sized calcium peroxide(CaO_(2))as a source of H_(2)O_(2)to remediate 2,4-dichlorophenol(2,4-DCP)contaminated groundwater via the advanced oxidation process(AOP).First,the effect and mechanism of 2,4-DCP degradation by CaO_(2)at different Fe concentrations were studied(Fenton reaction).We found that at high Fe concentrations,2,4-DCP almost completely degrades via primarily the oxidation of·OH within 5 *** low Fe concentrations,the degradation rate of 2,4-DCP decreased *** main mechanism was the combined action of·OH and O_(2)^(·−).Without Fe,the 2,4-DCP degradation reached 13.6%in 213 h,primarily via the heterogeneous reaction on the surface of CaO_(2).Besides,2,4-DCP degradation was significantly affected by solution *** the solution pH was>10,the degradation was almost completely ***,we adopted a two-dimensional water tank experiment to study the remediation efficiency CaO_(2)on the water *** noticed that the degradation took place mainly in regions of pH<10(i.e.,CaO_(2)distribution area),both upstream and downstream of the *** 28 days of treatment,the average 2,4-DCP degradation level was≈36.5%.Given the inadequacy of the results,we recommend that groundwater remediation using nano CaO_(2):(1)a buffer solution should be added to retard the rapid increase in pH,and(2)the nano CaO_(2)should be injected copiously in batches to reduce CaO_(2)deposition.

Laser additive manufacturing(LAM)is a promising technology for processing bulk metallic glass(BMG)with freeform geometries or unlimited ***,the inherently brittle Fe-based BMGs produced by LAM have always been plagued by the micro-cracking induced by the large thermal stresses during the LAM *** solve this dilemma,316L stainless steel(SS)with excellent toughness and similar elemental composition was carefully selected as the second phase to form Fe-based BMG composites(BMGCs).The obtained Fe-based BMGCs are equipped with a heterogeneous structure,i.e.,the 316L SS phase is wrapped by the metallic glass and forms a unique"fishbone"structure with a ***,the special structure nicely improves a plastic strain of the Fe-based BMGC with a strength of 2355 MPa to~17%,achieving a record-breaking achievement among Fe-based amorphous with critical dimensions over 1mm.

Advanced electromagnetic(EM)wave absorbers with wide bandwidth is crucial to avoid EM interference and radiation,while achieving compensatio nal attenuation at different frequencies is challe ***,two-dimensional(2 D)sandwiched FeNi@SnO_(2)have been designed,for which SnO_(2)nanosheets provide numerous heterogeneous nucleation sites for the growth of dispersive FeNi nanoparticles with reduced *** SnO_(2)exhibits dipole polarization at 21.45 GHz with a width of~4.00 GHz,while the FeNi nanoparticles induce excha nge resonance at 18.13 GHz(~6.00 GHz width)and interfacial polarization at15.97 GHz(~6.00 GHz width).Such complementary attenuation mechanisms give rise to an impressive ultra-wide effective absorption bandwidth of 11.70 GHz with strong absorption of-49.1 dB at a small thickness of 1.75 *** only superior EM wave absorption is achieved in this work,it also provides a versatile strategy to integrate different loss mechanisms in the design of EM wave absorbers with extra-wide bandwidth.
