ISP and PAP4 peptides promote motor functional recovery after peripheral nerve injury

Both intracellular sigma peptide(ISP) and phosphatase and tensin homolog agonist protein(PAP4) promote nerve regeneration and motor functional recovery after spinal cord injury. However, the role of these two small peptides in peripheral nerve injury remains unclear. A rat model of brachial plexus injury was established by crush of the C6 ventral root. The rats were then treated with subcutaneous injection of PAP4(497 μg/d, twice per day) or ISP(11 μg/d, once per day) near the injury site for 21 successive days. After ISP and PAP treatment, the survival of motoneurons was increased, the number of regenerated axons and neuromuscular junctions was increased, muscle atrophy was reduced, the electrical response of the motor units was enhanced and the motor function of the injured upper limbs was greatly improved in rats with brachial plexus injury. These findings suggest that ISP and PAP4 promote the recovery of motor function after peripheral nerve injury in rats. The animal care and experimental procedures were approved by the Laboratory Animal Ethics Committee of Jinan University of China(approval No. 20111008001) in 2011.

Due to quick response and large quantity of electric motor torque,the traction wheels of battery electric vehicle are easy to slip during the initial phase of starting.In this paper,a sliding mode control approach of acceleration slip regulation is designed to prevent the slip of the traction wheels.The wheel slip ratio is used as the state variable for the formulation of system dynamics model.The fuzzy algorithm is utilized to adjust the switch function of sliding mode controller.After stability and robustness analysis,the sliding mode control law is transferred into C code and downloaded into vehicle control unit,which is validated under wet and dry road conditions.The experimental results with a small overshoot and a quick response during starting indicate that the sliding mode controller has good control efect on the slip ratio regulation.This article proposes an acceleration slip regulation method that improves the safety during acceleration for battery electric vehicle.

Selecting design variables and determining optimal hard⁃point coordinates are subjective in the traditional multiobjective optimization of geometric design of vehicle suspension,thereby usually resulting in poor overall suspension kinematic performance.To eliminate the subjectivity of selection,a method transferring multiobjective optimization function into a single⁃objective one through the integrated use of grey relational analysis(GRA)and improved entropy weight method(IEWM)is proposed.First,a comprehensive evaluation index of sensitivities was formulated to facilitate the objective selection of design variables by using GRA,in which IEWM was used to determine the weight of each subindex.Second,approximate models between the variations of the front wheel alignment parameters and the design variables were developed on the basis of support vector regression(SVR)and the fruit fly optimization algorithm(FOA).Subsequently,to eliminate the subjectivity and improve the computational efficiency of multiobjective optimization(MOO)of hard⁃point coordinates,the MOO functions were transformed into a single⁃objective optimization(SOO)function by using the GRA-IEWM method again.Finally,the SOO problem was solved by the self⁃adaptive differential evolution(jDE)algorithm.Simulation results indicate that the GRA⁃IEWM method outperforms the traditional multiobjective optimization method and the original coordinate scheme remarkably in terms of kinematic performance.

In recent years, the coamorphous drug delivery system has been established as a promising formulation approach for delivering poorly water-soluble drugs. The coamorphous solid is a single-phase system containing an active pharmaceutical ingredient(API) and other low molecular weight molecules that might be pharmacologically relevant APIs or excipients. These formulations exhibit considerable advantages over neat crystalline or amorphous material, including improved physical stability, dissolution profiles, and potentially enhanced therapeutic efficacy. This review provides a comprehensive overview of coamorphous drug delivery systems from the perspectives of preparation, physicochemical characteristics,physical stability, in vitro and in vivo performance. Furthermore, the challenges and strategies in developing robust coamorphous drug products of high quality and performance are briefly discussed.

With the aid of different types of mechanoreceptors,human is capable of perceiving stimuli from surrounding environments and manipulating various objects dexterously.In this paper,a bio-inspired tactile fingertip is designed mimicking human fingertip in both structures and functionalities.Two pairs of strain gages and(Polyvinylidene Fluoride)PVDF films are perpendicularly arranged to simulate the Fast-Adapting(FA)and Slowly Adapting(SA)type mechanoreceptors in human hands,while silicones,Polymethyl Methacrylate(PMMA),and electronic wires are applied to mimic the skin,bone and nerve fibers.Both static and dynamic forces can be perceived sensitively.A preprocessing electric circuit is further designed to transform the resistor changes into voltages,and then filter and amplify the four-channel signals.In addition to strong robustness due to the embedded structure,the developed fingertip is found sensitive to deformations via a force test experiment.Finally,two robotic experiments explore its recognition ability of contact status and object surface.Excellent performance is found with high accuracy of 99.72%achieved in discriminating six surfaces that are ubiquitous in daily life,which demonstrates the effectiveness of our designed tactile sensor.

Objective A commercially available reference product was“re-engineered”and the target emulsion was formulated to contain the same energy density,as well as the same percentage of energy sources,as the reference product.The particle size and distribution,polydispersity index(PDI),and zeta-potential of emulsions were measured as indices to analyse the quality of the emulsions.Methods The centrifugal stability(Ke)was examined as the main measure of the stability of the target emulsion.Critical parameters affecting the stability of emulsions were also determined,while the temperature was fixed at 30℃,shear speed at 3500 r/min,and shear time was 15 min.The optimal quantity of emulsifier was also studied in the crude homogenate.Results A relatively stable emulsion could be obtained by using PC-50 at a dosage of 2%as the emulsifier.A 2∶1 proportion of whey protein to casein,a 1∶1 proportion of maltodextrin(DE 10-15)to maltodextrin(DE 15-20)and medium chain triglyceride(MCT)in powder form were used to obtain the most desirable emulsion.Conclusion This study explored the critical parameters that influence the stability of a total nutrition enteral emulsion designed for cancer patients,providing useful information for further industrialisation of this and other emulsion products.

Lycophytes and ferns are unique and charismatic members of many terrestrial ecosystems and occupy the pivotal position in land plant origin and evolution.The Chinese lycophytes and ferns flora,with approximately 2000 species,contributes a substantial component to the global lycophytes and ferns diversity,with estimates of 12000 species.Among them,about 433 species are medicinally recorded and researches based on their phytochemical properties are important topics in natural medicines.This paper reviewed the research history and current status of chemical constituents and biological activities of lycophytes and ferns,which had highlighted the research progress of our group.

Single-cell RNA-sequencing(scRNA-seq)is a rapidly increasing research area in biomed-ical signal processing.However,the high complexity of single-cell data makes efficient and accurate analysis difficult.To improve the performance of single-cell RNA data processing,two single-cell features calculation method and corresponding dual-input neural network structures are proposed.In this feature extraction and fusion scheme,the features at the cluster level are extracted by hier-archical clustering and differential gene analysis,and the features at the cell level are extracted by the calculation of gene frequency and cross cell frequency.Our experiments on COVID-19 data demonstrate that the combined use of these two feature achieves great results and high robustness for classification tasks.
