Counteracting effects on ENSO induced by ocean chlorophyll interannual variability and tropical instability wave-scale perturbations in the tropical Pacific

Large perturbations in chlorophyll(Chl)are observed to coexist at interannual and tropical instability wave(TIW)scales in the tropical Pacific;at present,their combined effects on El Ni?o-Southern Oscillation(ENSO)through ocean biologyinduced heating(OBH)feedbacks are not understood well.Here,a hybrid coupled model(HCM)for the atmosphere and ocean physics-biogeochemistry(AOPB)in the tropical Pacific is adopted to quantify how ENSO can be modulated by Chl perturbations at interannual and TIW scales,individually or collectively,respectively.The HCM-based sensitivity experiments demonstrate a counteracting effect on ENSO:the bio-climate feedback due to large-scale Chl interannual variability acts to damp ENSO through its impact on upper-ocean stratification and vertical mixing,whereas that due to TIW-scale Chl perturbations tends to amplify ENSO.Because ENSO simulations are sensitively dependent on the ways Chl effects are represented at these different scales,it is necessary to adequately take into account these related differential Chl effects in climate modeling.A bias source for ENSO simulations is illustrated that is related with the Chl effects in the tropical Pacific,adding in a new insight into interactions between the climate system and ocean ecosystem on different scales in the region.These results reveal a level of complexity of ENSO modulations resulting from Chl effects at interannual and TIW scales,which are associated with ocean biogeochemical processes and their interactions with physical processes in the tropical Pacific.

Mode-insensitive and mode-selective optical switch based on asymmetric Y-junctions and MMI couplers

Driven by the large volume demands of data in transmission systems,the number of spatial modes supported by mode-division multiplexing(MDM)systems is being increased to take full advantage of the parallelism of the signals in different spatial modes.As a key element for photonic integrated circuits,the multimode waveguide optical switch(MWOS)is playing an important role for data exchange and signal switching.However,the function of the traditional MWOS is simple,which could only implement the mode-insensitive or mode-selective switching function;it is also difficult to scale to accommodate more spatial modes because of the limitation of the device structure.Therefore,it is still challenging to realize a multifunctional and scalable MWOS that could support multiple modes with low power consumption and high flexibility.Here,we propose and experimentally demonstrate a multifunctional MWOS based on asymmetric Y-junctions and multimode interference(MMI)couplers fabricated on a polymer waveguide platform.Both mode-insensitive and mode-selective switching functions can be achieved via selectively heating different electrode heaters.The fabricated device with the total length of∼0.8 cmshows an insertion loss of less than 12.1 dB,and an extinction ratio of larger than 8.4 dB with a power consumption of∼32 mW for both mode-insensitive and mode-selective switching functions,at 1550 nm wavelength.The proposed MWOS can also be scaled to accommodate more spatial modes flexibly and easily,which can serve as an important building block for MDM systems.

To the Editor:Dislocation of the mobile bearing is the most common reason for revisions in Asian patients who undergo Oxford mobile-bearing unicompartmental knee arthroplasty(Oxford MB UKA),with an incidence rate as high as 7.9%.[1]Multiple studies have shown that the bearing dislocation rate is significantly higher in Asian than in Western patients.[2]A poor bearing movement trajectory was considered one of the risk factors.Malpositioning of the component results in a wider space between the margin of the bearing and the lateral wall of the tibial component,leading to a poor bearing movement trajectory and even bearing rotation.The superior surface is designed with high surrounding rims(higher in the anterior and posterior parts,lower in the medial and lateral parts).When rotation occurs,the lower rim loses its restriction to mutual movement of the bearing and femoral component,which leads to dislocation.

基于SRv6的域内路由保护方案研究

网络故障导致大量的数据包丢失,并且严重影响网络性能,如何高效快速地应对网络中的故障是设计路由协议的基本要求和主要任务。目前,比较有效的方法是互联网部署的开放式最短路径优先(open shortest path first,OSPF)和中间系统到中间系统(intermediate system-to-intermediate system,IS-IS),通过动态路由协议解决网络故障,但是在协议动态收敛的过程中仍会有大量的报文被丢弃。因此,路由器厂商广泛采用了性能更好的路由保护方法来克服网络故障,然而,已有的路由保护方案普遍存在实现复杂度较高或者故障保护率偏低情况。针对上述问题,在SRv6实现了网络可编程性的基础上,提出一种基于SRv6的域内路由保护方案(research on intra-domain routing protection scheme based on SRv6,RPSRv6),方案首先提出了备份路径的计算规则,并根据备份路径计算规则在生成的增量最短路径树上,为所有受链路故障影响的源目的结点对计算备份路径,在此基础上,提出了Seg-ment List的计算规则,即计算出Segment List中SID的值与个数。在计算备份路径的过程中,每个受故障影响的结点和其他结点最多被访问一次,因此RPSRv6的时间复杂度具有较好的表现。实验结果表明,与已有的实现DC(downstream criterion)规则和U-Turn算法相比较,RPSRv6算法在故障保护率和路径拉伸度两个度量指标具有更好的实验效果,达到了100%的故障保护率并且在路径拉伸度方面达到了最优路径。

Network failures are unavoidable and occur frequently.When the network fails,intra-domain routing protocols deploying on the Internet need to undergo a long convergence process.During this period,a large number of messages are discarded,which results in a decline in the user experience and severely affects the quality of service of Internet Service Providers(ISP).Therefore,improving the availability of intra-domain routing is a trending research question to be solved.Industry usually employs routing protection algorithms to improve intra-domain routing availability.However,existing routing protection schemes compute as many backup paths as possible to reduce message loss due to network failures,which increases the cost of the network and impedes the methods deployed in practice.To address the issues,this study proposes an efficient routing protection algorithm based on optimized network topology(ERPBONT).ERPBONT adopts the optimized network topology to calculate a backup path with the minimum path coincidence degree with the shortest path for all source purposes.Firstly,the backup path with the minimum path coincidence with the shortest path is described as an integer programming problem.Then the simulated annealing algorithm ERPBONT is used to find the optimal solution.Finally,the algorithm is tested on the simulated topology and the real topology.The experimental results show that ERPBONT effectively reduces the path coincidence between the shortest path and the backup path,and significantly improves the routing availability.

在图像去雾领域中,目前多数去雾模型难以维持精度与效率的平衡,高精度的模型往往伴随着复杂的网络结构,而简单的网络结构又往往会导致低质量的结果.针对该问题提出一个基于雾浓度分类与暗-亮通道先验的多分支去雾模型,通过对带雾图像分类,使用复杂度不同的网络来处理不同雾浓度的图像,可在保证精度的同时提高计算效率.模型由轻量级雾图像分类器和基于暗-亮通道先验的多分支去雾网络2部分构成:前者将带雾图像分为轻雾、中雾、浓雾3类,输出雾浓度标签;后者包含3个结构相同、宽度不同的分支网络,根据雾浓度标签选择不同的分支网络处理不同雾浓度图像,恢复至无雾图像.提出一个新的雾浓度分类方法以及基于该方法的雾浓度分类损失函数,可根据带雾图像的暗通道特征和恢复难度,结合生成图像质量和模型计算效率,得到对带雾图像合理准确的分类结果,达到去雾效果和算力需求的良好平衡.提出新的暗通道与亮通道先验损失函数,用于约束分支去雾网络,可有效提高去雾精度.实验结果表明,模型能够以更低的网络参数量和复杂度得到更优的去雾结果.

DNA circuits are powerful tools in various applications such as logical computation,molecular diagnosis and synthetic biology.Leakage is a major problem in constructing complex DNA circuits.It directly affects the output signal and harms the circuit’s performance significantly.In the traditional DNA circuits,the gate complex is a duplex structure.There are insufficient energy barriers to prevent spontaneous detachment of strands,resulting in a leak prone.Herein,we have developed triplex-structure based DNA circuit with ultra-low leakage and high signal-to-noise ratio(SNR).The triplex structure improves the stability in the absence of input.At the same time,the driving force of the strand displacement cascades reduces the influence of the triplex structure on the desired reaction.The SNR of the DNA circuit was increased to 695,while the desired reaction rate remained 90%of the conventional translator circuit.The triplex-structure mediated leakage prevention strategy was further tested at different temperatures and in DNA translator and seesaw circuits.We also constructed modular basic logic gates with a high efficiency and low leakage.On this basis,we further constructed triplex-structure based tertiary DNA logic circuits,and the SNR reached 295,which,to the best of our knowledge,was among the highest of the field.We believe that our scheme provides a novel,valid,and general tool for reducing leakages,and we anticipate that it will be widely adopted in DNA nanotechnology.

A high EMS daisy-chain SPI interface for battery monitor system

A high EMS current-mode SPI interface for battery monitor IC（BMIC） is presented to form a daisychain bus configuration for the cascaded BMICs and the communication between the MCU and master BMIC.Based on analog and digital mixed filtering technique,the proposed daisy-chain can avoid the isolated communication issue in electromagnetic interference environment,and reduce the extensively required I/O ports of MCU,at the same time reduce the system cost.The proposed daisy-chain interface was introduced in a 6-ch battery monitor IC which was fabricated with 0.35μ m 30 V BCD process.The measurement result shows that the presented daisy-chain SPI interface achieves better EMS performance with different EMI injection while just consuming a total operation current up to 1 m A.

60 V tolerance full symmetrical switch for battery monitor IC

For stacked battery monitoring IC high speed and high precision voltage acquisition requirements,this paper introduces a kind of symmetrical type high voltage switch circuit.This kind of switch circuit uses the voltage following structure,which eliminates the leakage path of input signals.At the same time,this circuit adopts a high speed charge pump structure,in any case the input signal voltage is higher than the supply voltage,it can fast and accurately turn on high voltage MOS devices,and convert the battery voltage to an analog to digital converter.The proposed high voltage full symmetry switch has been implemented in a 0.18 μm BCD process;simulated and measured results show that the proposed switch can always work properly regardless of the polarity of the voltage difference between the input signal ports and an input signal higher than the power supply.

Energy-Efficient Routing Algorithm Based on Multipath Routing in Large-Scale Networks

A reduction in network energy consumption and the establishment of green networks have become key scientific problems in academic and industrial research.Existing energy efficiency schemes are based on a known traffic matrix,and acquiring a real-time traffic matrix in current complex networks is difficult.Therefore,this research investigates how to reduce network energy consumption without a real-time traffic matrix.In particular,this paper proposes an intra-domain energy-efficient routing scheme based on multipath routing.It analyzes the relationship between routing availability and energy-efficient routing and integrates the two mechanisms to satisfy the requirements of availability and energy efficiency.The main research focus is as follows:(1)A link criticality model is evaluated to quantitatively measure the importance of links in a network.(2)On the basis of the link criticality model,this paper analyzes an energy-efficient routing technology based on multipath routing to achieve the goals of availability and energy efficiency simultaneously.(3)An energy-efficient routing algorithm based on multipath routing in large-scale networks is proposed.(4)The proposed method does not require a real-time traffic matrix in the network and is thus easy to apply in practice.(5)The proposed algorithm is verified in several network topologies.Experimental results show that the algorithm can not only reduce network energy consumption but can also ensure routing availability.
