Network analysis reveals context-dependent structural complexity of social calls in serrate-legged small treefrogs

Vocal communication plays an important role in survival,reproduction,and animal social association.Birds and mammals produce com-plex vocal sequence to convey context-dependent information.Vocalizations are conspicuous features of the behavior of most anuran species(frogs and toads),and males usually alter their calling strategies according to ecological context to improve the attractiveness/competitiveness.However,very few studies have focused on the variation of vocal sequence in anurans.In the present study,we used both conventional method and network analysis to investigate the context-dependent vocal repertoire,vocal sequence,and call network structure in serrate-legged small treefrogs Kurixalus odontotarsus.We found that male K.odontotarsus modified their vocal sequence by switching to different call types and increasing repertoire size in the presence of a competitive rival.Specifically,compared with before and after the playback of advertisement calls,males emited fewer advertisement calls,but more aggressive calls,encounter calls,and compound calls during the playback period.Network analysis revealed that the mean degree,mean closeness,and mean betweenness of the call networks significantly decreased during the playback period,which resulted in lower connectivity.in addition,the increased proportion of one-way motifs and average path length also indicated that the connectivity of the call network decreased in competitive context.However,the vocal sequence of K.odontotarsus did not display a clear small-world network structure,regardless of context.Our study presents a paradigm to apply network analysis to vocal sequence in anurans and has important implications for understanding the evolution and function of sequence patterns.

Lithium-sulfur batteries are severely restricted by low electronic conductivity of sulfur and Li_(2)S,shuttle effect,and slow conversion reaction of lithium polysulfides(LiPSs).herein,we report a facile and highyield strategy for synthesizing dual-core single-atom catalyst(ZnCoN_(4)O_(2)/CN)with atomically dispersed nitrogen/oxygen-coordinated Zn-Co sites on carbon nanosheets.Based on density functional theory(DFT)calculations and LiPSs conversion catalytic ability,ZnCoN_(4)O_(2)/CN provides dual-atom sites of Zn and Co,which could facilitate Li^(+)transport and Li_(2)S diffusion,and catalyze LiPSs conversion more effectively than homonuclear bimetallic single-atom catalysts or their simple mixture and previously reported singleatom catalysts.Li-S cell with ZnCoN_(4)O_(2)/CN modified separator showed excellent rate performance(789.4 mA h g^(-1)at 5 C)and stable long cycle performance(0.05%capacity decay rate at 6C with 1000cycles,outperforming currently reported single atomic catalysts for LiPSs conversion.This work highlights the important role of metal active centers and provides a strategy for producing multifunctional dual-core single atom catalysts for high-performance Li-S cells.

Synthesis of a reduction-sensitive Bletilla striata polysaccharide amphiphilic copolymer

Recently, much special attention has been focused on the development of amphiphilic copolymers.herein, a reduction-sensitive stearic acid grafted-Bletilla striata polysaccharide copolymer（BSP-ss-SA）was synthesized and characterized. BSP-ss-SA copolymer could spontaneously form micelles with an average particle size of（106 ？ 4.36） nm. Particle sizes were dramatically larger under 10 mmol/L dithiothreitol（DTT） than that in absence of 10 mmol/L DTT. Docetaxel loading content and encapsulation efficiency of micelles were 5.94 wt% and 72.75 wt%, respectively. The docetaxel release rate in vitro in micelles could be remarkably accelerated in pH 7.4 phosphate buffer solution（PBS） containing 10 mmol/L DTT compared with that of micelles（0 mmol/L DTT）. Furthermore, MTT results demonstrated the anticancer activities in vitro of docetaxel-loaded BSP-ss-SA micelles on hepG2 were superior to that of docetaxel injection. BSP-ss-SA copolymer might be a promising nanocarrier for cancer chemotherapy drugs.

In recent years,the developed hemostatic technologies are still difficult to be applied to the hemostasis of massive arterial and visceral hemorrhage,owing to their weak hemostatic function,inferior wet tissue adhesion,and low mechanical properties.herein,a mussel-inspired supramolecular interaction-cross-linked hydrogel with robust mechanical property(308.47±29.20 kPa)and excellent hemostatic efficiency(96.5%±2.1%)was constructed as a hemostatic sealant.Typically,we combined chitosan(CS)with silk fibroin(SF)by cross-linking them through tannic acid(TA)to maintain the structural stability of the hydrogel,especially for wet tissue adhesion ability(shear adhesive strength=29.66±0.36 kPa).Compared with other materials reported previously,the obtained CS/TA/SF hydrogel yielded a lower amount of blood loss and shorter time to hemostasis in various arterial and visceral bleeding models,which could be ascribed to the synergistic effect of wound closure under wet state as well as intrinsic hemostatic activity of CS.As a superior hemostatic sealant,the unique hydrogel proposed in this work can be exploited to offer significant advantages in the acute wound and massive hemorrhage with the restrictive access of therapeutic moieties.

Aptamers are single-stranded DNA or RNA sequences that can specifically bind with the target protein or molecule via specific secondary structures.Compared to antibody-drug conjugates(ADC),aptamer-drug conjugate(ApDC)is also an efficient,targeted drug for cancer therapy with a smaller size,higher chemical stability,lower immunogenicity,faster tissue penetration,and facile engineering.Despite all these advantages,several key factors have delayed the clinical translation of ApDC,such as in vivo off-target effects and potential safety issues.In this review,we highlight the most recent progress in the development of ApDC and discuss solutions to the problems noted above.

公路隧道洞口景观构景元素分析

为了明确景观在隧道工程领域的研究和应用现状,对洞口景观构景元素进行了系统梳理,分析了构景元素的具体表现形式并提出了相应的设计建议。结果表明:隧道洞门类型决定了洞口景观设计的整体风格,借助洞门装饰、肌理、颜色、亮度、线型等元素的整体表现发挥洞门外观的构景效果;经过暗化和柔化处理的洞门墙面,可以减少对光线的反射,降低洞口亮度,减缓洞门压迫感;洞口绿化通过生态防护和栽植绿化达到生态修复和美化环境的目的,借助植物自身的吸光能力和低反射率对洞口进行减光处理,营造舒适的行车环境,是目前公路隧道景观设计的主流;洞口铭牌、小品建筑、彩色路面等诱导系统具有信息导向作用,通过造型、色彩、位置及风格的合理设置能够正确发挥视线诱导功能,提高驾驶人注意力;考虑地域文化以及与周围环境协调性的洞口景观设计可以缓解驾驶人心理紧张感,提高安全性和舒适性。

Physics-constrained neural network for solving discontinuous interface K-eigenvalue problem with application to reactor physics

Machine learning-based modeling of reactor physics problems has attracted increasing interest in recent years.Despite some progress in one-dimensional problems,there is still a paucity of benchmark studies that are easy to solve using traditional numerical methods albeit still challenging using neural networks for a wide range of practical problems.We present two networks,namely the Generalized Inverse Power Method Neural Network(GIPMNN)and Physics-Constrained GIPMNN(PC-GIPIMNN)to solve K-eigenvalue problems in neutron diffusion theory.GIPMNN follows the main idea of the inverse power method and determines the lowest eigenvalue using an iterative method.The PC-GIPMNN additionally enforces conservative interface conditions for the neutron flux.Meanwhile,Deep Ritz Method(DRM)directly solves the smallest eigenvalue by minimizing the eigenvalue in Rayleigh quotient form.A comprehensive study was conducted using GIPMNN,PC-GIPMNN,and DRM to solve problems of complex spatial geometry with variant material domains from the fleld of nuclear reactor physics.The methods were compared with the standard flnite element method.The applicability and accuracy of the methods are reported and indicate that PC-GIPMNN outperforms GIPMNN and DRM.

Do abrupt cryosphere events in High Mountain Asia indicate earlier tipping point than expected?

Tipping points of about 16 elements have been identified in Earth system,yet cryospheric tipping point of specific Alpine region has not been studied.here we analyzed three tipping elements(mountain glacier,snow cover,and permafrost)identified in recent years,evidenced by the facts of frequent occurrence of abrupt massive collapse of glacier mass and the widespread thermakarst of permafrost.Since 2015,strikingly abrupt cryosphere events(ACEs)have been consistently observed over a large range of High Mountain Asia(HMA).Those events were un-precedentedly significant in history,leading to collapses of glaciers following by disconnection of glacier tongue from accumulation basin and recession of thermakarst towards higher elevation.Strong decreasing of snow depth in 2022 was also observed since 2021/2022 winter,coinciding with extreme warming of the year.The widespread high warming rates in the last two decades over HMA might have triggered above ACEs.The dynamic thresholds of ACEs depend largely on high temperature,especially extreme heat wave,for both glaciers and permafrost,closely related to meltwater as a key factor for reaching initial conditions of abrupt changes,suggesting HMA cryosphere is a tipping element under the global warming level of 1.1℃.The ACEs can cause tremendous damage to local ecosystem and socioeconomy,measures to mitigate risks should be taken when the tipping points are reached.

Mild metal-organic-gel route for synthesis of stable sub-5-nm metal-organic framework nanocrystals

Nanoscale metal-organic frameworks （NMOFs） have attracted increased attention in recent years for miniaturized and/or biological applications.However,the synthesis of ultrasmall NMOFs with good stability is a great challenge.In this study,sub-5-nm nano-HKUST-1 was prepared for the first time via a mild metalorganic gel route without surfactants or capping agents.Controlling the gelation process via anion-ligand self-assembly is the key to the formation of NMOFs.The Tyndall effect,zeta potential,and liquid adsorption indicated strong stability of the obtained nano-HKUST-1,even in water.Adsorption experiments were performed using different dyes （crystal violet and methylene blue） to demonstrate the size-dependent adsorption thermodynamics and kinetics of this famous MOF.The results of this study provide new insights regarding the synthesis of NMOFs and their efficient applications.

Poly(3-hexylthio) thiophene Field-effect Transistor Device Performance: Impact of the Content of hexylthio Side Chain on Backbone

Regioregular poly(3-hexylthio)thiopene(P3HTT) has emerged tremendous potential in organic electronic applications due to the strong noncovalent interactions from the sulfur atom linked to thiophene. However, P3HTT generally exhibits low charge mobility mostly due to poor solution processability attributed to dense arrangement of hexylthio side chain in polymer, which led to strong noncovalent interactions among sulfur atoms. To balance the nonvalent interaction and aggregation for P3HTT, herein, we systematically study the effect of hexylthio side chain content in polymer backbone on the structure and properties. A series of regioregular P3HTT-based homopolymers(P3HTT, P3HTT-50,P3HTT-33 and P3HTT-25) were prepared via Kumada catalyst transfer polycondensation method from a set of mono-, bi-, ter-and quarterthiophenes containing different contents of hexylthio side chain. The DFT calculation shows the planarity of polymers backbone could be improved through reducing the density of hexylthio side chain in polymer mainchain. And significant changes in their crystallinity, aggregation and optical properties were observed with the content of hexylthio side chain reducing. The P3HTT-33 displayed the highest field-effect transistor hole mobility of 2.83×10^(-2) cm^(2)·V^(-1)·s^(-1) resulting from a balance between the crystallinity and planarity. This study demonstrates modulating the content of hexylthio side chain in P3HTT is an effective strategy to optimize the opto-electronic properties of polymer obtaining excellent semiconductor device performance.
