Unravelling the effects of complexation of transition metal ions on the hydroxylation of catechol over the whole pH region

Catechol pollutants(CATPs)serving as chelating agents could coordinate with many metal ions to form various CATPs-metal *** information is available on the effects of complexation of metal ions on CATPs *** work presents a systematical study of·OH-mediated degradation of catechol and catechol-metal complexes over the whole pH range in advanced oxidation processes(AOPs).Results show that the pH-dependent complexation of metal ions(Zn^(2+),Cu^(2+),Ti^(4+)and Fe^(3+))promotes the deprotonation of catechol under neutral and even acidic *** radical adduct formation(RAF)reactions are both thermodynamically and kinetically favorable for all dissociation and complexa-tion species,and-OH/-O-group-containing C positions are more vulnerable to·OH *** kinetic results show that the complexation of the four metal ions offers a wide pH range of effectiveness for catechol *** pH 7,the apparent rate constant(k_(app))values for different systems follow the order of catechol+Ti^(4+)≈catechol+Zn^(2+)>catechol+Cu^(2+)>catechol+Fe^(3+)>*** mechanistic and kinetic results would greatly improve our understanding of the degradation of CATPs-metal and other organics-metal complexes in *** toxicity assessment indicates that the·OH-based AOPs have the ability for decreasing the toxicity and increasing the biodegradability during the processes of catechol degradation.

为探究岩脉侵入角度对隧道开挖的影响,文章以泸石高速石棉隧道开挖时地层遭遇不同角度岩脉侵入为工程背景,通过UDEC离散元计算,总结岩脉侵入角度对隧道开挖的影响,给出有效处理措施,并得出以下结论:岩脉和被侵入岩体界面易发生塑性滑移,隧道开挖后岩脉区围岩变形最大,且岩脉区围岩有开裂、滑移和隆起现象,围岩变形随角度的减小而减小。边墙与仰拱连接处轴力、剪力、弯矩均最大,安全系数最小,三种工况均在0.3左右。衬砌轴力、剪力的最大值随角度减小而增大,弯矩受角度的影响较小。岩脉区域的安全系数在向着岩脉倾斜方向更小。岩脉侵入区域隧道开挖应采用岩脉区域局部注浆、封闭仰拱、增大衬砌厚度三种方法来加固围岩和提高衬砌承载能力。

Simulations and Projections of Winter Sea Ice in the Barents Sea by CMIP6 Climate Models

Dramatic changes in the sea ice characteristics in the Barents Sea have potential consequences for the weather and climate systems of mid-latitude continents,Arctic ecosystems,and fisheries,as well as Arctic maritime *** and projections of winter sea ice in the Barents Sea based on the latest 41 climate models from the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 6(CMIP6)are investigated in this *** show that most CMIP6 models overestimate winter sea ice in the Barents Sea and underestimate its decreasing *** discrepancy is mainly attributed to the simulation bias towards an overly weak ocean heat transport through the Barents Sea Opening and the underestimation of its increasing *** methods of observation-based model selection and emergent constraint were used to project future winter sea ice changes in the Barents *** indicate that sea ice in the Barents Sea will continue to decline in a warming climate and that a winter ice-free Barents Sea will occur for the first time during 2042-2089 under the Shared Socioeconomic Pathway 585(SSP5-8.5).Even in the observation-based selected models,the sensitivity of winter sea ice in the Barents Sea to global warming is weaker than observed,indicating that a winter ice-free Barents Sea might occur earlier than projected by the CMIP6 simulations.

On the Motion of Shear-Thinning heat-Conducting Incompressible Fluid-Rigid System

The full Navier-Stokes-Fourier system with mixed boundary condition that describes the motion of shear-thinning and incompressible viscous fluid in a rotating multi-screw extruder is investigated. The viscosity is assumed to depend on the shear rate and the temperature. The global existence of suitable weak solutions is established. The fictitious domain method which consists in filling the moving rigid screws with the surrounding fluid and taking into account the boundary conditions on these bodies by introducing a well-chosen distribution of boundary forces is used.

Vocal communication plays an important role in survival,reproduction,and animal social *** and mammals produce com-plex vocal sequence to convey context-dependent *** are conspicuous features of the behavior of most anuran species(frogs and toads),and males usually alter their calling strategies according to ecological context to improve the attractiveness/***,very few studies have focused on the variation of vocal sequence in *** the present study,we used both conventional method and network analysis to investigate the context-dependent vocal repertoire,vocal sequence,and call network structure in serrate-legged small treefrogs Kurixalus *** found that male *** modified their vocal sequence by switching to different call types and increasing repertoire size in the presence of a competitive ***,compared with before and after the playback of advertisement calls,males emited fewer advertisement calls,but more aggressive calls,encounter calls,and compound calls during the playback *** analysis revealed that the mean degree,mean closeness,and mean betweenness of the call networks significantly decreased during the playback period,which resulted in lower *** addition,the increased proportion of one-way motifs and average path length also indicated that the connectivity of the call network decreased in competitive ***,the vocal sequence of *** did not display a clear small-world network structure,regardless of *** study presents a paradigm to apply network analysis to vocal sequence in anurans and has important implications for understanding the evolution and function of sequence patterns.

Investigations of the dynamical behaviors of a millimeter-scale cavitation bubble near the rigid wall

The collapse of the cavitation bubble near the rigid wall emits shock waves and creates micro-jet,causing cavitation damage and operation instability of the hydraulic *** this paper,the millimeter-scale bubble near the rigid wall was investigated experimentally and numerically with the help of a laser photogrammetry system with nanosecond-micron space-time resolution and the open source package *** morphological characteristics of the bubble during its growth phase,collapse phase and rebound phase were observed by experiment and numerical simulation,and characteristics of the accompanying phenomena including the shock wave propagation and micro-jet evolution were well *** numerical results agree well with the experimental *** bubble starts from a tiny small size with high internal pressure and expands into a sphere with a radius of 1.07 mm forγ=d/R_(max)=*** bubble collapses into a heart shape and moves towards to the rigid wall during its collapse phase,resulting in a higher pressure load for the rigid wall in the second *** maximum pressure of the shock wave of the first bubble collapse phase reaches 5.4 MPa,and the velocity of the micro-jet reaches approximately 100 m/*** study enriches the existing experimental and numerical results of the dynamics of the near-wall cavitation bubble.

Bi nanoparticles encapsulated in nitrogen-doped carbon as a long-life anode material for magnesium batteries

Bismuth has garnered significant interest as an anode material for magnesium batteries(MBs) because of its high volumetric specific capacity and low working potential. Nonetheless, the limited cycling performance(≤100 cycles) limits the practical application of Bi as anode for MBs. Therefore, the improvement of Bi cycling performance is of great significance to the development of MBs and is also full of challenges. here, Bi nanoparticles encapsulated in nitrogen-doped carbon with single-atom Bi embedded(Bi@NC) are prepared and reported as an anode material for MBs. Bi@NC demonstrates impressive performance, with a high discharge capacity of 347.5 mAh g^(-1) and good rate capability(206.4 mAh g^(-1)@500 mA g^(-1)) in a fluoride alkyl magnesium salt electrolyte. In addition, Bi@NC exhibits exceptional long-term stability, enduring 400 cycles at 500 mA g^(-1). To the best of our knowledge, among reported Bi and Bi-based compounds for MBs, Bi@NC exhibits the longest cycle life in this work. The magnesium storage mechanism of Bi@NC is deeply studied through X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. This work provides some guidance for further improving the cycling performance of other alloy anodes in MBs.
