The Arlequin framework proposed by Ben Dhia in 1998 is a flexible and robust method for conducting global/local analysis of structures and materials.A penalty version of the Arlequin framework for the study of structural problems involving large deformation is considered *** implementation of the penalty-based Arlequin framework into ABAQUS is then explored and the corresponding Arlequin user element subroutine is *** nonlinear simulations of a cantilever beam and a shallow arch are conducted and the choice of the coupling operator with an appropriate penalty parameter is *** numerical results justify the feasibility of the proposed method,ensuring its further application to more complicated problems involving geometric or material nonlinearities.

The cytosolic chaperonin T-complex protein 1-ring complex(TRiC)or chaperonin containing T-complex protein 1(CCT)is essential in de novo folding of approximately 10%of the eukaryotic,newly translated polypeptides as well as misfolded *** is a close link between the TRiC/CCT cytosolic chaperonin and neurodegenerative diseases(Lopez et al.,2015).A lot of research suggests that CCT plays neuroprotective roles in neurodegenerative diseases including Huntington’s disease(Lopez et al.,2015).Either overexpression of a single or all eight subunits(CCT1-8)or treatment of the substrate-binding apical domain of yeast CCT1(ApiCCT1)prevented mutant Huntingtin aggregation and improved cellular and neuronal functions(Zhao et al.,2016).Importantly,our recent study has demonstrated that both CCT and ApiCCT could reduce mutant Huntingtin level and enhance both anterograde and retrograde axonal transport of brain-derived neurotrophic *** results led to restoration of the trophic status of striatal neurons from a bacterial artificial chromosome transgenic mouse model of Huntington’s disease(Zhao et al.,2016).Axonal transport is regulated by many factors including microtubule-associated protein tau,which promotes tubulin polymerization and stabilizes *** interaction between tau and microtubules plays a vital role in the pathogenesis of multiple neurodegenerative diseases(Wang and Mandelkow,2016).Interestingly,tau phosphorylation is also observed in brains of several Huntington’s disease mouse models and Huntington’s disease patients(Gratuze et al.,2016).In a recent study,we explored if CCT subunit has any effect on axonal transport in a tau-dependent pathway(chen et al.,2018b).We focused on the retrograde axonal transport of brain-derived neurotrophic factor,as neurotrophic factor-mediated signaling in the form of signaling endosome is essential in both the developing and the mature nervous system and dysregulation of trafficking of neurotrophic fact

Heteroatom doping can open the bandgap and increase the carrier density, thus extending the applications of graphene. Iron chloride （FeC13） intercalation has proven to be an efficient method for the heavy doping of graphene. In this study, we prepared continuous chemical vapor deposited graphene （CVD-G） consisting of hexagonal adlayer domains to study the FeC13 intercalation. The structure of the FeC13-treated CVD-G was easily characterized via atomic force microscopy because of the change in the interlayer distance. FeC13 crystals several nanometers thick were integrated with the graphene surface, and FeC13 layer flakes were intercalated between the CVD-G adlayers. The G-band position and two-dimensional band shape in the Raman spectra confirmed the intercalation of the FeC13 between the graphene layers. The FeCI~ intercalation increased the electrical conductivity of the CVD-G with a well-maintained transmittance, which could be beneficial for a sensitive photodetector.

The dynamics anMysis of recurrent neural networks （RNNs） is a first and necessary step for any practical applications of them. In the present paper, the easily verified theorem is found to ascertain the asymptotical stability for generic RNN model with projection mapping under the critical condition that a discriminant matrix defined by the networks is semi-positive definite. The results given here not only improve deeply upon the existing relevant critical as well as non-critical dynamics conclusions in literature, but also can be used in the practical application of RNNs directly.

Majority of non-Newtonian fluids are pseudoplastic with shear-thinning property, which means that the viscosity will be different in different parts of the stirred tank. In such mixing process, it is difficult to predict accurately the power consumption and mean shear rate for designing novel impeller. Metzner-Otto method is a widely accepted method to solve these questions in mixing non-Newtonian fluids. As a result, Metzner-Otto constant will become a key factor to achieve an optimum way of economical mixing. In this paper, taking glycerine and xanthan gum solutions as research system, the power consumption, stirred by the impeller composed of perturbed six-bent-bladed turbine （6PBT） with differently geometrical characteristics in a cylindrical vessel, is studied by means of computational fluid dynamics （CFD）. The flow is modeled as laminar and a multiple reference frame （MRF） approach is used to solve the discretized equations of motion. In order to determine the capability of CFD to forecast the flow process, the torque test experiment is used to measure the glycerine solution power consumption. The theological properties of the xanthan gum solutions are determined by a Brookfleld rheometer. It is observed that the power consumption predicted by numerical simulation agrees well with those measured using torque experiment method in stirring glycerine solution, which validate the numerical model. Metzner-Otto constant is almost not correlated with the flow behavior index of pseudoplastic fluids. This paper establishes the complete correlations of power constant and Metzner-Otto constant with impeller geometrical characteristics through linear regression analysis, which provides the valuable instructions and references for accurately predicting the power consumption and mean shear rate of pseudoplastic fluids in laminar flow, comparatively.

UV-induced degradation of odorous dimethyl sulfide （DMS） was carried out in a static White cell chamber with UV irradiation. The combination of in situ Fourier transform infrared （FT-IR） spectrometer, gas chromatograph-mass spectrometer （GC-MS）, wide-range particle spectrometer （WPS） technique, filter sampling and ion chromatographic （IC） analysis was used to monitor the gaseous and potential particulate products. During 240 min of UV irradiation, the degradation efficiency of DMS attained 20.9%, and partially oxidized sulfur-containing gaseous products, such as sulfur dioxide （SO2）, carbonyl sulfide （OCS）, dimethyl sulfoxide （DMSO）, dimethyl sulfone （DMSO2） and dimethyl disulfide （DMDS） were identified by in situ FT-IR and GC-MS analysis, respectively. Accompanying with the oxidation of DMS, suspended particles were directly detected to be formed by WPS techniques. These particles were measured mainly in the size range of accumulation mode, and increased their count median diameter throughout the whole removal process. IC analysis of the filter samples revealed that methanesulfonic acid （MSA）, sulfuric acid （H2SO4） and other unidentified chemicals accounted for the major non-refractory compositions of these particles. Based on products analysis and possible intermediates formed, the degradation pathways of DMS were proposed as the combination of the O（1D）- and the OH- initiated oxidation mechanisms. A plausible formation mechanism of the suspended particles was also analyzed. It is concluded that UV-induced degradation of odorous DMS is potentially a source of particulate pollutants in the atmosphere.

In the past decades, various neural network models have been developed for modeling the behavior of human brain or performing problem-solving through simulating the behavior of human brain. The recurrent neural networks are the type of neural networks to model or simulate associative memory behavior of human being. A recurrent neural network （RNN） can be generally formalized as a dynamic system associated with two fundamental operators： one is the nonlinear activation operator deduced from the input-output properties of the involved neurons, and the other is the synaptic connections （a matrix） among the neurons. Through carefully examining properties of various activation functions used, we introduce a novel type of monotone operators, the uniformly pseudo-projectionanti-monotone （UPPAM） operators, to unify the various RNN models appeared in the literature. We develop a unified encoding and stability theory for the UPPAM network model when the time is discrete. The established model and theory not only unify but also jointly generalize the most known results of RNNs. The approach has lunched a visible step towards establishment of a unified mathematical theory of recurrent neural networks.
