Dry deposition velocity of total suspended particles and meteorological influence in four locations in Guangzhou,China

Dry deposition velocity of total suspended particles(TSP) is an effective parameter that describes the speed of atmospheric particulate matter deposit to the natural surface.It is also an important indicator to the capacity of atmosphere self-depuration.However,the spatial and temporal variations in dry deposition velocity of TSP at different urban landscapes and the relationship between dry deposition velocity and the meteorological parameters are subject to large uncertainties.We concurrently investigated this relationship at four different landscapes of Guangzhou,from October to December of 2009.The result of the average dry deposition velocity is(1.49 ± 0.77),(1.44 ± 0.77),(1.13 ± 0.53) and(1.82 ± 0.82) cm/sec for urban commercial landscape,urban forest landscape,urban residential landscape and country landscape,respectively.This spatial variation can be explained by the difference of both particle size composition of TSP and meteorological parameters of sampling sites.Dry deposition velocity of TSP has a positive correlation with wind speed,and a negative correlation with temperature and relative humidity.Wind speed is the strongest factor that affects the magnitude of TSP dry deposition velocity,and the temperature is another considerable strong meteorological factor.We also find out that the relative humidity brings less impact,especially during the dry season.It is thus implied that the current global warming and urban heat island effect may lead to correlative changes in TSP dry deposition velocity,especially in the urban areas.

In this paper,we consider a modified nonlinear dynamic diffusion(DD)method for convection-diffusion-reaction equations.This method is free of stabilization parameters and capable of precluding spurious oscillations.We develop a reliable and efficient residual-type a posteriori error estimator,which is robust with respect to the diffusivity parameter.Furthermore,we propose a linearized adaptive DD algorithm based on the a posteriori estimator.Finally,we perform numerical experiments to verify the theoretical analysis and the performance of the adaptive algorithm.

Fe(83.2-x)CoxP(10)C6Cu(0.8)(x=0,4,6,8 and 10)alloys with a high amorphous-forming ability and good softmagnetic properties were successfully synthesized.Saturation magnetic flux density(Bs)is effectively enhanced from 1.53 T to 1.61 T for as-quenched alloy by minor Co addition,which is consistent well with the result of the linear relationship between average magnetic moment and magnetic valence.For Cocontained alloys,the value of corecivity(Hc)is mainly determined by magneto-crystalline anisotropy,while effective permeability(μe)is dominated by grain size and average saturation polarization.After proper heat treatment,the Fe(79.2)Co4P(10)C6Cu(0.8)nanocrystalline alloy exhibited excellent soft-magnetic properties including a high Bsof 1.8 T,a low Hcof 6.6 A/m and a highμeof 15,510,which is closely related to the high volume fraction of α-(Fe,Co)grains and refined uniform nanocrystalline microstructure.

Comparative Analysis of Epidemiological Features of HIV/AIDS Cases Aged Over and Under 50 Years Old—China,2010-2022

Introduction:Recent data indicate a year-on-year increase in the proportion of human immunodeficiency virus/acquired immunodeficiency syndrome(HIV/AIDS)cases reported among individuals aged≥50 in China.This study compares the epidemiological characteristics of HIV/AIDS cases in populations above and below 50 years of age.By doing so,it seeks to scrutinize the current epidemiological landscape of HIV within these distinct age cohorts and suggest tailored interventions for each group.Methods:We utilized data from the Chinese HIV/AIDS Comprehensive Response Information Management System for our comparative analysis.Joinpoint regression analysis was employed to assess the trends in standardized detection rates.Results:In China,the number of newly reported HIV/AIDS cases in the 15-49 age group increased from 51,436 in 2010 to 55,397 in 2022,while it increased from 11,751 in 2010 to 51,856 in 2022 in the group aged≥50 years.Recent years have seen a greater proportion and detection rate of HIV/AIDS cases among the≥50 age demographic compared to the 15-49 age group.In 2022,significant statistical differences were observed between males and females in both age cohorts with respect to education,marital status,occupation,mode of transmission,location of diagnosis,and region.Conclusions:The observed trend of a rising proportion of HIV/AIDS cases in individuals aged 50 years and older necessitates heightened attention.It is imperative that we develop and implement interventions specifically designed to prevent and control the transmission of HIV within this demographic.

Excellent reusability of FeBC amorphous ribbons induced by progressive formation of through-pore structure during acid orange 7 degradation

The high-efficient degrading ability of Fe BC amorphous ribbons toward acid orange 7(AO7)via redox reactions is reported and compared with that of Fe PC amorphous ribbons.The time required for degrading50%of AO7 using Fe BC amorphous ribbons is only 1/3 of that using Fe PC amorphous ribbons.In the Fe BC amorphous matrix,galvanic cell structures are formed between the Fe-B and Fe-C bonds because of the large difference in their bonding strengths,which contributes to the low reaction activation energy and the high degrading efficiency of Fe BC amorphous ribbons.The extremely long service life of Fe BC amorphous ribbons comes from the progressive formation of 3 D porous nanosheet networks that allow more efficient mass transport and a larger specific surface area.The Fe BC amorphous ribbons show a satisfying degrading ability in not only acidic but also neutral and weak alkaline AO7 solutions.This work provides an effective and environmental-friendly material for degrading azo dyes.

Type one protein phosphatases(TOPPs)contribute to the plant defense response in Arabidopsis

Plant immunity must be tightly controlled to avoid activation of defense mechanisms in the absence of pathogen attack. Protein phosphorylation is a common mechanism regulating immune signaling. In Arabidopsis thaliana, nine members of the type one protein phosphatase(TOPP) family(also known as protein phosphatase 1, PP1) have been identified. Here, we characterized the autoimmune phenotype of topp4-1, a previously identified dominant-negative mutant of TOPP4. Epistasis analysis showed that defense activation in topp4-1 depended on NON-RACE-SPECIFIC DISEASE RESISTANCE1,PHYTOALEXIN DEFICIENT4, and the salicylic acid pathway.We generated topp1/4/5/6/7/8/9 septuple mutants to investigate the function of TOPPs in plant immunity. Elevated defense gene expression and enhanced resistance to Pseudomonas syringae pv. tomato(Pst) DC3000 in the septuple mutant indicate that TOPPs function in plant defense responses. Furthermore, TOPPs physically interacted with mitogen-activated protein kinases(MAPKs)and affected the MAPK-mediated downstream defense pathway. Thus, our study reveals that TOPPs are important regulators of plant immunity.
