Torn discoid lateral meniscus treated with arthroscopic meniscectomy:observations in 62 knees

Background Discoid lateral meniscus of the knee is common in Chinese population. There has been considerable debate about the best treatment for discoid lateral meniscus tears. The purpose of this study was to observe the effect of arthroscopic meniscectomy for the treatment of discoid lateral meniscus tears. Methods Between July 1999 and December 2004, arthroscopic meniscectomy was performed on 62 menisci of 57 patients with discoid lateral meniscus tears （52 unilateral, 5 bilateral）. 41 menisci were ＂complete discoid meniscus＂, 21 =incomplete＂. According to the extent of the meniscus tears, partial meniscectomy was performed on 52 knees, total meniscectomy on 7 knees, and partial meniscectomy combined with meniscus suture on 3 knees through an arthroscope After the operations, early rehabilitation training programs, including straight-leg-raising and range-of-motion exercises, were carried out. 51 patients were followed up for 1 year 2 months to 6 years 5 months （mean, 3 years 3 months）, 6 patients were lost. Lysholm-Ⅱ scoring system was used to assess the function of the knee joints before the operation and during the follow-up. Results The operations on all the 62 knees were successful without complications. The patients could walk normally after completing the 2-week postoperation rehabilitation program. After 3-4 weeks they could lead a normal life and participate in a moderate amount of sports or other physical activities. The mean Lysholm-Ⅱ score was 89 （60--100） during the follow-up, which was significantly higher than that before the operation （50, range 34-74; P〈0.01）. 88% of the patients achieved excellent or good clinical results. Conclusions Arthroscopic meniscectomy is an alternative for treatment of discoid lateral meniscus tears with minimal traumatic effects. It can achieve early mobilization and a low complication rate, as well as the preservation of the meniscus structure and functions to the largest extent. In combination with proper rehabil

Metabolomic-based analysis reveals bile acid-mediated ovarian failure induced by low temperature in zebrafish

As ectotherms, fish are highly sensitive to temperature fluctuations, which can profoundly impact their reproductive cycles. In this study, we investigated the fertility and histological characteristics of zebrafish(Danio rerio) ovaries exposed to a temperature gradient ranging from the thermopreferendum temperature of the species,27℃, to lower temperatures of 22℃, 20℃, and 13℃ over a period of two weeks. Comparative metabolomic(six biological replicates for each temperature) and transcriptomic(four biological replicates for each temperature) analyses were conducted under the four temperature conditions. Results indicated that lower temperatures inhibited oocyte development and differential metabolites were involved in steroid hormone production,antioxidant function, and lipid and protein *** reproductive hormones, increased proteolysis,and lipid degradation significantly impeded oocyte development and egg maturation. Notably, a significant increase in bile acid content was noted in the ovaries of the cold-treated fish, indicating that bile acids play a critical role in ovarian failure. Overall, these findings provide valuable insights into the mechanisms governing the reproductive response of fish to cold stress.

Effects of water molecules on luminescence in europium and terbium coordination polymers with p-fluorobenzoic acid as ligand

Our previous experimental observations show that the crystal structure of lanthanide luminescent complexes synthesized in aqueous solution usually contains a large number of coordination water molecules or free water *** order to probe the influence of water molecules on luminescent processes of lanthanide complexes,the photoluminescence properties of Ln-FBA(Ln=Eu and Tb,FBA=p-fluorobenzoic acid)coordination polymers at different ambient temperatures,in different solvents and aqueous DMSO solutions with different volume concentrations were systematically *** experiment results show that the presence of water molecules can promote the energy transfer from FBA ligand to Ln3+,at the same time,can cause luminescent non-radiation quenching of lanthanide *** addition,the variation of emission intensity ratio of 615 nm/591 nm peaks of Eu^(3+)with increasing the volume concentration of H_(2)O can be potentially used for the quantitatively detection of water traces in organic *** order to suppress the non-radiation quenching caused by the water molecules,Ln-FBA(Ln=Eu and Tb)coordination polymers were embedded into the PVP matrix to prepare Ln-FBA@PVP hybrid *** photoluminescence investigation indicates that PVP can not only block the quenching effect of water molecules on luminescence,but also effectively sensitize Eu^(3+)and Tb^(3+)*** experimental conclusions are useful for probing the influence of water molecules on luminescent processes of lanthanide complexes,quantitatively detecting water traces in organic solvents and enhancing the photoluminescence intensity in lanthanide complexes.

Very high-energy electrons(VHEEs)are potential candidates for FLASH radiotherapy for deep-seated *** proposed a compact VHEE facility based on an X-band high-gradient high-power *** this study,we investigated and realized the first X-band backward traveling-wave(BTW)accelerating structure as the buncher for a VHEE facility.A method for calculating the parameters of single cell from the field distribution was introduced to simplify the design of the BTW ***-domain circuit equations were applied to calculate the transient beam parameters of the buncher in the unsteady state.A prototype of the BTW structure with a thermionic cathode-diode electron gun was designed,fabricated,and tested at high power at the Tsinghua X-band high-power test *** structure successfully operated with 5-MW microwave pulses from the pulse compressor and outputted electron bunches with an energy of 8 MeV and a pulsed current of 108 mA.

Effect of short-time low-temperature austenitizing on microstructure and mechanical properties of DT300 ultra-high strength steel fabricated by laser powder bed fusion

To address the inhomogeneous microstructure and improve the mechanical properties of DT300 ultra-high strength steel specimens fabricated by laser powder bed fusion,different post-heat treatment schedules are *** the increase in austenitizing temperature and time,the migration rate of austenite grain boundaries continuously increases with the dissolution of nano-carbides,and the formation of nano-oxides and twin martensite is also inhibited *** rapid growth in the size of prior austenite grains and martensite laths,as well as the decrease in the content of nano-oxides and twin martensite,led to a rapid decrease in the strength(yield strength and ultimate tensile strength)from HT2 to HTF *** HT1 specimens(austenitizing at 830℃for 30 min,then oil quenching and tempering at 300℃for 120 min and finally air cooling)display excellent mechanical properties of yield strength of 1572 MPa,ultimate tensile strength of 1847 MPa,elongation of 9.84%,and fracture toughness of 106 MPa m^(1/2),which are counterparts to those of conventional DT300 steel forgings after heat treatment.

Suppressing nonradiative recombination and releasing residual strain areprerequisites to improving the efficiency and stability of perovskite solar cells(PSCs).Here,long-chain polyacrylic acid(PAA)is used to reinforce SnO_(2)film and passivate SnO_(2)defects,forming a structure similar to“reinforcedconcrete”with high tensile strength and fewer ***,PAA is also introduced to the SnO_(2)/perovskite interface as a“buffer spring”torelease residual strain,which also acts as a“dual-side passivation interlayer”to passivate the oxygen vacancies of SnO_(2)and Pb dangling bonds in *** a result,the best inorganic CsPbBr_(3)PSC achieves a championpower conversion efficiency of 10.83%with an ultrahigh open-circuit voltageof 1.674 *** unencapsulated PSC shows excellent stability under 80%relative humidity and 80℃over 120 days.

目的了解气象因素单独及其交互作用对内蒙古自治区鄂尔多斯市鼠密度的影响。方法收集2013-2021年鄂尔多斯市鼠密度资料,采用广义相加模型分析气象因素单独作用及交互作用对鼠密度的影响。结果鄂尔多斯市鼠密度总体呈逐年下降趋势。鼠密度与滞后2月的月平均气温、月平均气压呈非线性关系,与当月的平均日照时数呈线性关系。子午沙鼠密度与月平均气温呈非线性关系,随着温度升高呈波动下降趋势,在约12℃时鼠密度出现1个小高峰,而在18℃左右时达到最低谷,随后迅速上升;鼠密度随月平均气压的升高而呈先升高后降低的趋势,约864 hPa达到峰值;月平均日照时数对子午沙鼠密度呈现正向的线性关系。滞后2月的月平均气温与同期月累计降水量和当月的平均日照时数均有一定的交互作用,滞后2月的适宜温度(约12℃)下强降水和当月短平均月日照时数有利于子午沙鼠密度升高。结论月平均日照时数、月平均气温及月平均气压对子午沙鼠密度呈线性及非线性影响,各气象因素间有一定的交互作用。
