Studies on Suction-Assisted Installation Behavior of Suction Caissons in Clay Under Various Undrained Shear Strengths

Suction caissons are widely used for anchoring floating platform and offshore wind *** of the suction caisson into the desired position under the combination of its self-weight and applied suction resulted from pumping out the encased water is integral to practical *** tests were carried out to investigate the suctionassisted installation of suction caissons in clay under various undrained shear *** was found that there exists a critical penetration depth *** the penetration depth is smaller than the critical value,the soil plug undrained shear strength is higher than intact clay(i.e.,clay prior to installation).However,when the penetration depth is greater than the critical penetration depth,the undrained shear strength of soil plug is lower than intact *** critical value decreases with the increasing consolidation time and undrained shear strength of *** suction-assisted installation,cracks occur around suction *** installation way has little effect on the crack *** influence range(i.e.,the maximum distance between the crack and the suction caisson edge)was found to increase with the increasing friction coefficient of interface between the suction caisson wall and soil and decreases with the increasing soil undrained shear *** addition,the drained condition of the clay during installation is dominated by the caisson aspect ratio,the undrained shear strength and the friction coefficient between the caisson wall and *** to estimate the penetration resistance and the required suction to install the suction caisson are summarized.

Online monitoring and diagnosis of production processes face great challenges due to the nonlinearity and multivariate of complex industrial *** process monitoring methods employ kernel function or multilayer neural networks to solve the nonlinear mapping problem of ***,the above methods increase the model complexity and are not interpretable,leading to difficulties in subsequent fault recognition/diagnosis/location.A process monitoring and diagnosis method based on the free energy of Gaussian-Bernoulli restricted Boltzmann machine(GBRBM-FE)was ***,a GBRBM network was established to make the probability distribution of the reconstructed data as close as possible to the probability distribution of the raw *** this basis,the weights and biases in GBRBM network were used to construct F statistics,which represents the free energy of the *** smaller the energy of the sample is,the more normal the sample ***,F statistics can be used to monitor the production *** diagnose fault variables,the F statistic for each sample was decomposed to obtain the Fv statistic for each *** analyzing the deviation degree between the corresponding variables of abnormal samples and normal samples,the cause of process abnormalities can be accurately *** application of converter steelmaking process demonstrates that the proposed method outperforms the traditional methods,in terms of fault monitoring and diagnosis performance.

Ammonia volatilization from a Chinese cabbage field under different nitrogen treatments in the Taihu Lake Basin, China

Ammonia（NH3） volatilization is a major pathway of nitrogen（N） loss from soil-crop *** vegetable cultivation is one of the most important agricultural land uses worldwide,a deeper understanding of NH3 volatilization is necessary in vegetable production *** therefore conducted a 3-year（2010-2012） field experiment to characterize NH3 volatilization and evaluate the effect of different N fertilizer treatments on this process during the growth period of Chinese *** volatilization rate,rainfall,soil water content,p H,and soil NH4~＋were measured during the growth *** results showed that NH3 volatilization was significantly and positively correlated to topsoil p H and NH4＋*** factors and fertilization method also significantly affected NH3 ***,organic fertilizer（OF） increased NH3 volatilization by 11.77%-18.46%,compared to conventional fertilizer（CF,urea）,while organic-inorganic compound fertilizer（OIF） reduced NH3 volatilization by 8.82%-12.67% compared to ***,slow-release fertilizers had significantly positive effects on controlling NH3 volatilization,with a 60.73%-68.80% reduction for sulfur-coated urea（SCU）,a 71.85%-78.97% reduction for biological Carbon Power~？ urea（BCU）,and a 77.66%-83.12% reduction for bulk-blend controlled-release fertilizer（BBCRF）relative to *** study provides much needed baseline information,which will help in fertilizer choice and management practices to reduce NH3 volatilization and encourage the development of new strategies for vegetable planting.

There is a lack of systematic research on the expression of internal control genes used for gene expression normalization in real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction in spinal cord injury *** this study,we used rat models of spinal cord hemisection to analyze the expression stability of 13 commonly applied reference genes:Actb,Ankrd27,CypA,Gapdh,Hprt1,Mrpl10,Pgk1,Rictor,Rn18s,Tbp,Ubc,Ubxn11,and *** results show that the expression of Ankrd27,Ubc,and Tbp were stable after spinal cord injury,while Actb was the most unstable internal control ***27,Ubc,Tbp,and Actb were consequently used to investigate the effects of internal control genes with differing stabilities on the normalization of target gene *** gene expression levels and changes over time were similar when Ankrd27,Ubc,and Tbp were used as internal controls but different when Actb was used as an internal *** recommend that Ankrd27,Ubc,and Tbp are used as internal control genes for real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction in spinal cord injury *** study was approved by the Administration Committee of Experimental Animals,Jiangsu Province,China(approval No.20180304-008)on March 4,2018.

Earth Pressure Distribution and Sand Deformation Around Modified Suction Caissons(MSCs) Under Monotonic Lateral Loading

The modified suction caisson(MSC) is a novel type of foundation for ocean engineering, consisting of a short external closed-top cylinder-shaped structure surrounding the upper part of the regular suction caisson(RSC). The MSC can provide larger lateral bearing capacity and limit the deflection compared with the RSC. Therefore, the MSC can be much more appropriate to use as an offshore wind turbine foundation. Model tests on the MSC in saturated sand subjected to monotonic lateral loading were carried out to investigate the effects of external structure sizes on the sand surface deformation and the earth pressure distribution along the embedded depth. Test results show that the deformation range of the sand surface increases with the increasing width and length of the external structure. The magnitude of sand upheaval around the MSC is smaller than that of the RSC and the sand upheaval value around the MSC in the loading direction decreases with the increasing external structure dimensions. The net earth pressure in the loading direction acting on the internal compartment of the MSC is smaller than that of the RSC at the same embedded depth. The maximum net earth pressure acting on the external structure outer wall in the loading direction is larger than that of the internal compartment, indicating that a considerable amount of the lateral load and moment is resisted by the external skirt structure.

Modelling envelope and temporal fine structure components of frequency-following responses in rat inferior colliculus

In studies of auditory perception, a dichotomy between envelope and temporal fine structure(TFS) has been emphasized. It has been shown that frequency-following responses(FFRs) in the rat inferior colliculus can be divided into the envelope component(FFREnv)and the temporal fine structure component(FFRTFS). However, the existing FFR models cannot successfully separate FFREnv and FFRTFS. This study was to develop a new FFR model to effectively distinguish FFREnv from FFRTFS by both combining the advantages of the two existing FFR models and simultaneously adding cellular properties of inferior colliculus neurons. To evaluate the validity of the present model, correlations between simulated FFRs and experimental data from the rat inferior colliculus were calculated. Different model parameters were tested, FFRs were calculated, and the parameters with highest prediction were chosen to establish an ideal FFR model. The results indicate that the new FFR model can provide reliable predictions for experimentally obtained FFREnv and FFRTFS.

Colorimetric and fluorimetric detection of cysteine: Unexpected Michael addition–elimination reaction

The synthesis of three isomers based on Michael addition mechanism for the detection of sulfurcontaining species in aqueous solution is described. These compounds are constructed by conjugating an enone to a coumarin fluorophore. A substituted-phenyl（o, m, or p-） was appended at the carbonyl carbon to adjust the reactivity. The experimental results showed that（E）-7-（diethylamino）-3-（3-（3-hydroxyphenyl）-3-oxoprop-1-en-1-yl）-2H-chromen-2-one（m-QPS） and（E）-7-（diethylamino）-3-（3-（4-hydroxyphenyl）-3-oxoprop-1-en-1-yl）-2H-chromen-2-one（p-QPS） barely react with sulfur-containing nucleophiles, while（E）-7-（diethylamino）-3-（3-（2-hydroxyphenyl）-3-oxoprop-1-en-1-yl）-2H-chromen-2-one（o-QPS） exhibited a fast response toward sulfite, sulfide and thiols in DMSO/phosphate buffer（2：1）. The above results are probably due to the intramolecular H-bonding activated Michael *** interestingly, cysteine triggered unusual photophysical responses of o-QPS： the original absorption（488 nm） and emission peaks（573 nm） underwent significant blue shifts initially and then recovered,which might be caused by the Michael addition and elimination reaction, respectively.

Modified artificial neural network model with an explicit expression to describe flow behavior and processing maps of Ti2AlNb-based superalloy

The elevated-temperature deformation behavior of Ti2AlNb superalloy was observed by isothermal compression experiments in a wide range of temperatures(950–1200°C)and strain rates(0.001–10 s^(-1)).The flow behavior is nonlinear,strongly coupled,and *** constitutive models,namely the double multivariate nonlinear regression model,artificial neural network model,and modified artificial neural network model with an explicit expression,were applied to describe the Ti2AlNb superalloy plastic deformation *** comparative predictability of those constitutive models was further evaluated by considering the correlation coefficient and average absolute relative *** comparative results show that the modified artificial network model can describe the flow stress of Ti2AlNb superalloy more accurately than the other developed constitutive *** explicit expression obtained from the modified artificial neural network model can be directly used for finite element *** modified artificial neural network model solves the problems that the double multivariate nonlinear regression model cannot describe the nonlinear,strongly coupled,and multivariable flow behavior of Ti2AlNb superalloy accurately,and the artificial neural network model cannot be embedded into the finite element software ***,the modified artificial neural network model is mainly dependent on the quantity of high-quality experimental data and characteristic variables,and the modified artificial neural network model has not physical ***,the processing maps were applied to obtain the optimum processing parameters.

Development of high-performance dry-pressed anisotropic permanent ferrite for La-Ca-Sr-Co system

In this work,the BMS-12 pre-sintered material was used as the basic material,and the optimal secondary additive addition amount was found by the wet pressing ***,the anisotropic ferrite material was prepared by dry-pres sing method,and the effects of camphor adhesives,calcium stearate lubricant and powder particle size on the magnetic properties were *** experimental results show that the appropriate addition amount of camphor adhesive and calcium stearate lubricant is 0.6 wt%and 0.8 wt%,*** remanence and coercivity can be obtained for particle size of 0.85-1.00μ*** dry-pressed magnet ferrite was prepared with typical properties of magnetic induction intensity of Br=421 mT,induction coercivity of Hcb=296 kA·m-1,intrinsic coercivity of Hcj=369 kA·m-1 and maximum energy product of(BH)max=33.3 kJ·m-3,which have reached the level of TDK corporation product of FB5 *** shows that the dry-pressed magnet of La-Ca-Sr-Co system has higher remanence and intrinsic coercivity than the traditional wetpressed Sr-ferrite.
