Chitin hydrogel has been recognized as a promising material for various biomedical applications because of its biocompatibility and biodegradability.However,the fabrication of strong chitin hydrogel remains a big challenge because of the insolubility of chitin in many solvents and the reduced chain length of chitin regenerated from solutions.We herein introduce the fabrication of chitin hydrogel with biomimetic structure through the chemical transformation of chitosan,which is a water-soluble deacetylated derivative of chitin.The reacetylation of the amino group in chitosan endows the obtained chitin hydrogel with outstanding resistance to swelling,degradation,extreme temperature and pH conditions,and organic solvents.The chitin hydrogel has excellent mechanical properties while retaining a high water content(more than 95 wt.%).It also shows excellent antifouling performance that it resists the adhesion of proteins,bacteria,blood,and cells.Moreover,as the initial chitosan solution can be feasibly frozen and templated by ice crystals,the chitin hydrogel structure can be either nacre-like or wood-like depending on the freezing method of the precursory chitosan solution.Owing to these anisotropic structures,such chitin hydrogel can exhibit anisotropic mechanics and mass transfer capabilities.The current work provides a rational strategy to fabricate chitin hydrogels and paves the way for its practical applications as a superior biomedical material.

Over the past two decades,machine learning(ML)has elicited increasing attention in building energy management(BEM)research.However,the boundary of the ML-BEM research has not been clearly defined,and no thorough review of ML applications in BEM during the whole building life-cycle has been published.This study aims to address this gap by reviewing the ML-BEM papers to ascertain the status of this research area and identify future research directions.An integrated framework of ML-BEM,composed of four layers and a series of driving factors,is proposed.Then,based on the hype cycle model,this paper analyzes the current development status of ML-BEM and tries to predict its future development trend.Finally,five research directions are discussed:(1)the behavioral impact on BEM,(2)the integration management of renewable energy,(3)security concerns of ML-BEM,(4)extension to other building life-cycle phases,and(5)the focus on fault detection and diagnosis.The findings of this study are believed to provide useful references for future research on ML-BEM.

Recently,ground coverings change detection(CD)driven by bitemporal hyperspectral images(HSIs)has become a hot topic in the remote sensing community.There are two challenges in the HSI‐CD task:(1)attribute feature representation of pixel pairs and(2)feature extraction of attribute patterns of pixel pairs.To solve the above problems,a novel spectral‐spatial sequence characteristics‐based convolutional transformer(S3C‐CT)method is proposed for the HSI‐CD task.In the designed method,firstly,an eigenvalue extrema‐based band selection strategy is introduced to pick up spectral information with salient attribute patterns.Then,a 3D tensor with spectral‐spatial sequence characteristics is proposed to represent the attribute features of pixel pairs in the bitemporal HSIs.Next,a fusion framework of the convolutional neural network(CNN)and Transformer encoder(TE)is designed to extract high‐order sequence semantic features,taking into account both local context information and global sequence dependencies.Specifically,a spatial‐spectral attention mechanism is employed to prevent information reduction and enhance dimensional interactivity between the CNN and TE.Finally,the binary change map is determined according to the fully‐connected layer.Experimental results on real HSI datasets indicated that the proposed S3C‐CT method outperforms other well‐known and state‐of‐the‐art detection approaches in terms of detection performance.

Seasonal minimum Antarctic sea ice extent(SIE)in 2022 hit a new record low since recordkeeping began in 1978 of 1.9 million km^(2) on 25 February,0.17 million km^(2) lower than the previous record low set in 2017.Significant negative anomalies in the Bellingshausen/Amundsen Seas,the Weddell Sea,and the western Indian Ocean sector led to the new record minimum.The sea ice budget analysis presented here shows that thermodynamic processes dominate sea ice loss in summer through enhanced poleward heat transport and albedo-temperature feedback.In spring,both dynamic and thermodynamic processes contribute to negative sea ice anomalies.Specifically,dynamic ice loss dominates in the Amundsen Sea as evidenced by sea ice thickness(SIT)change,while positive surface heat fluxes contribute most to sea ice melt in the Weddell Sea.

Background:Interleukin-15(IL-15)is a promising immunotherapeutic agent owing to its powerful immune-activating effects.However,the clinical benefits of these treatments are limited.Crosstalk between tumor cells and immune cells plays an important role in immune escape and immunotherapy drug resistance.Herein,this study aimed to obtain in-depth understanding of crosstalk in the tumor microenvironment for providing potential therapeutic strategies to prevent tumor progression.Methods:T-cell killing assays and co-culture models were developed to determine the role of crosstalk between macrophages and tumor cells in breast cancer resistant to IL-15.Western blotting,histological analysis,CRISPR-Cas9 knockout,multi-parameter flow cytometry,and tumor cell-macrophage co-injection mouse models were developed to examine the mechanism by which IL-15Rα^(+)tumor-associated macrophages(TAMs)regulate breast cancer cell resistance to IL-15.Results:We found thatmacrophages contributed to the resistance of tumor cells to IL-15,and tumor cells induced macrophages to express high levels of theαsubunit of the IL-15 receptor(IL-15Rα).Further investigation showed that IL-15Rα^(+)TAMs reduced the protein levels of chemokine CX3C chemokine ligand 1(CX3CL1)in tumor cells to inhibit the recruitment of CD8^(+)T cells by releasing the IL-15/IL-15Rαcomplex(IL-15Rc).Administration of an IL-15Rc blocking peptide markedly suppressed breast tumor growth and overcame the resistance of cancer cells to anti-programmed cell death protein 1(PD-1)antibody immunotherapy.Interestingly,Granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor(GMCSF)inducedγchain(γc)expression to promote tumor cell-macrophage crosstalk,which facilitated tumor resistance to IL-15.Additionally,we observed that the non-transcriptional regulatory function of hypoxia inducible factor-1alpha(HIF-1α)was essential for IL-15Rc to regulateCX3CL1 expression in tumor cells.Conclusions:The IL-15Rc-HIF-1α-CX3CL1 signaling pathway serves as a crosstalk between macrophages and tumor cells in the t

目的在医用钛表面制备石墨烯薄膜,研究生长时间对石墨烯薄膜理化性能和生物学性能的影响。方法采用等离子体增强化学气相沉积设备,在医用钛表面制备石墨烯薄膜,控制石墨烯薄膜生长时间为5、10、30 min。通过拉曼光谱、扫描电子显微镜、接触角测量仪和电化学工作站对石墨烯薄膜的结构、表面形貌、表面润湿性和耐腐蚀性进行表征,通过小鼠成骨细胞培养评价石墨烯薄膜的细胞相容性。结果薄膜的拉曼结果呈现石墨烯的D、G和2D特征峰。生长时间为10 min和30 min的石墨烯薄膜在医用钛表面呈现垂直纳米片状态。随着生长时间的延长,医用钛表面石墨烯薄膜的水接触角逐渐增大。3组样品中,生长时间为5 min的样品具有最小的腐蚀电流密度(1.822×10^(‒7)A/cm^(2)),生长时间为10 min的样品具有最高的腐蚀电位(‒0.404 V);生长时间为5 min和10 min的样品有利于细胞的黏附与铺展,生长时间为30 min的样品对小鼠成骨细胞活性具有一定的抑制作用。结论石墨烯薄膜可以有效提高医用钛的耐腐蚀性。石墨烯薄膜生长时间影响其形貌,进而改变水接触角。不同生长时间的石墨烯薄膜对小鼠成骨细胞的黏附和铺展表现出明显的差异。

Red jujube(Ziziphus jujuba Mill.),as a traditional Chinese medicine and edible plant,has a long history and extensive uses.Red jujubes are not only widely used in the food industry and traditional Chinese medicine preparations,but also have attracted widespread research interest due to their rich functional components and various pharmacological effects.This paper reviewed the main functional components of jujubes,including polysaccharides,triterpenoid saponins,organic acids and alkaloids,and discussed in detail the pharmacological effects of these components such as blood sugar-regulating,antioxidant,anti-inflammatory and anti-tumor effects.Furthermore,the paper also summarized the safety issues such as drug interactions and toxic side effects of jujubes,and prospected the future development direction of jujube research.

Dear Editor,Tumor-associated macrophages(TAMs)are critical pro-tumor immunocytes and depletion of TAMs has been exploited for cancer therapy.1 However,the phenotypes and functions of TAMs are plastic,TAMs can also be effector cells by engulfing tumor cells and recruiting cytotoxic T cells,thus shaping the actions of TAMs is more scientific rational than depleting them indiscriminately.2 To promote the entry of reorienting TAMs into the clinical treatments of tumors,it is essential to explore the underline mechanisms controlling the anti-and pro-tumor activities of TAMs.
