Background:Previously published meta-epidemiological studies focused on Western medicine have identified some trial characteristics that impact the treatment effect of randomized controlled trials(RCTs).Nevertheless,it remains unclear if similar associations exist in RCTs on Chinese herbal medicine(CHM).Further,Chinese medicine-related characteristics have not been explored ***:To investigate trial characteristics related to treatment effect estimates on CHM *** strategy:This meta-epidemiological study searched 5 databases for systematic reviews on CHM treatment published between January 2011 and July *** criteria:An eligible systematic review should only include RCTs of CHM and conduct at least one *** extraction and analysis:Two reviewers independently conducted data extraction on general characteristics of systematic reviews,meta-analyses and included *** also assessed the risk of bias of RCTs using the Cochrane risk of bias tool.A two-step approach was used for data *** ratio of odds ratios(ROR) and difference in standardized mean differences (dSMD) with 95%confidence interval (CI) were applied to present the difference in effect estimates for binary and continuous outcomes,***:Ninety-one systematic reviews,comprising 1338 RCTs were *** binary outcomes,RCTs incorporated with syndrome differentiation (ROR:1.23;95%CI:[1.07,1.39]),adopting Chinese medicine formula (ROR:1.19;95%CI:[1.03,1.34]),with low risk of bias on incomplete outcome data (ROR:1.29;95%CI:[1.06,1.52]) and selective outcome reporting (ROR:1.12;95%CI:[1.01,1.24]),as well as a trial size≥100 (ROR:1.23;95%CI:[1.04,1.42]) preferred to show larger effect *** for continuous outcomes,RCTs with Chinese medicine diagnostic criteria (dSMD:0.23;95%CI:[0.06,0.41]),judged as high/unclear risk of bias on allocation concealment (dSMD:-0.70;95%CI:[-0.99,-0.42]),with low risk of bias on incomplete outcome data (dSMD:0.30

Rosiglitazone prevents murine hepatic fibrosis induced by Schistosoma japonicum

AIM: To evaluate the effect of rosiglitazone in a murine model of liver fibrosis induced by Schistosoma japonicum infection. METHODS: A total of 50 mice were randomly and averagely divided into groups A, B, C, D and E. The mice in group A served as normal controls, while those in the other four groups were infected with Schistosoma japonicum to induce the model of liver fibrosis. Besides, the mice in groups C, D and E were treated with praziquantel, rosiglitazone and praziquantel plus rosiglitazone, respectively. NF-κB binding activity and expression of PPARγ-mRNA were determined by Western blot assay and real-time quantitative PCR. Radioimmunonassay technique was used to detect the serum content changes of TNF-α and IL-6. Histological specimens were stained with HE. Expression of TGF-β1, a-smooth muscle actin and type ?Ⅰ?and type Ⅲ collagen was detected by immunohistochemistry and multimedia color pathographic analysis system. RESULTS: Inflammation and fibrosis in the rosiglitazone plus praziquantel treatment group (group E) were lightest among the mice infected with Schistosoma (P < 0.05). To further explore the mechanism of rosiglitazone action, we found that rosiglitazone can significantly increase the expression of PPARγ [E: -18.212 ± (-3.909) vs B: -27.315 ± (-6.348) and C: -25.647 ± (-5.694), P < 0.05],reduce the NF-κB binding activity (E: 88.89 ± 19.34 vs B: 141.11 ± 15.37, C: 112.89 ± 20.17 and D: 108.89 ± 20.47, P < 0.05), and lower the serum level of TNF-α (E: 1.613 ± 0.420 ng/mL vs B: 2.892 ± 0.587 ng/mL, C: 2.346 ± 0.371 ng/mL and D: 2.160 ± 0.395 ng/mL, P < 0.05) and IL-6 (E: 0.106 ± 0.021 ng/mL vs B: 0.140 ± 0.031 ng/mL and C: 0.137 ± 0.027 ng/mL, P < 0.05) in mice with liver fibrosis. Rosiglitazone can also substantially reduce the hepatic expression of TGF-β1, α-SMA type Ⅰand type Ⅲ collagen in mice with liver fibrosis. In-depth analysis of the fatigue mechanism induced by inclusions for high-strength bearing steels

A numerical study of stress distribution and fatigue behavior in terms of the effect of voids adjacent to inclusions was conducted with finite element modeling simulations under different *** mechanisms were also analyzed *** results showed that the effects of inclusions on fatigue life will distinctly decrease if the mechanical properties are close to those of the steel *** the inclusions,which are tightly bonded with the steel matrix,when the Young’s modulus is larger than that of the steel matrix,the stress will concentrate inside the inclusion;otherwise,the stress will concentrate in the steel *** voids exist on the interface between inclusions and the steel matrix,their effects on the fatigue process differ with their positions relative to the *** void on one side of an inclusion perpendicular to the fatigue loading direction will aggravate the effect of inclusions on fatigue behavior and lead to a sharp stress *** void on the top of inclusion along the fatigue loading direction will accelerate the debonding between the inclusion and steel matrix.

Efficiently simulating the work distribution of multiple identical bosons with boson sampling

Boson sampling has been theoretically proposed and experimentally demonstrated to show quantum computational ***,it still lacks the deep understanding of the practical applications of boson *** we propose that boson sampling can be used to efficiently simulate the work distribution of multiple identical *** link the work distribution to boson sampling and numerically calculate the transition amplitude matrix between the single-boson eigenstates in a one-dimensional quantum piston system,and then map the matrix to a linear optical network of boson *** work distribution can be efficiently simulated by the output probabilities of boson sampling using the method of the grouped probability *** scheme requires at most a polynomial number of the samples and the optical *** work opens up a new path towards the calculation of complex quantum work distribution using only photons and linear optics.

Study of deep transportation and plugging performance of deformable gel particles in porous media

Deformable gel particles(DGPs) possess the capability of deep profile control and flooding. However, the deep migration behavior and plugging mechanism along their path remain unclear. Breakage, an inevitable phenomenon during particle migration, significantly impacts the deep plugging effect. Due to the complexity of the process, few studies have been conducted on this subject. In this paper, we conducted DGP flow experiments using a physical model of a multi-point sandpack under various injection rates and particle sizes. Particle size and concentration tests were performed at each measurement point to investigate the transportation behavior of particles in the deep part of the reservoir. The residual resistance coefficient and concentration changes along the porous media were combined to analyze the plugging performance of DGPs. Furthermore, the particle breakage along their path was revealed by analyzing the changes in particle size along the way. A mathematical model of breakage and concentration changes along the path was established. The results showed that the passage after breakage is a significant migration behavior of particles in porous media. The particles were reduced to less than half of their initial size at the front of the porous media. Breakage is an essential reason for the continuous decreases in particle concentration, size, and residual resistance coefficient. However, the particles can remain in porous media after breakage and play a significant role in deep plugging. Higher injection rates or larger particle sizes resulted in faster breakage along the injection direction, higher degrees of breakage, and faster decreases in residual resistance coefficient along the path. These conditions also led to a weaker deep plugging ability. Smaller particles were more evenly retained along the path, but more particles flowed out of the porous media, resulting in a poor deep plugging effect. In vitro biocompatibility evaluation of silk-fibroin/ polyurethane membrane with cultivation of HUVECs

In order to investigate the in vitro biocompatibility of a novel polyurethane （PU） membrane modified by incorporation of superfine silk-fibroin powder （SFP）, which was prepared for small-diameter vascular grafts, with the cultivation of human umbilical vein endothelial cells （HUVECs）, PU and SFP were mixed with the ratios of 9：1, 7：3, 5：5, 3：7 （PU：SFP） to make four composite materials. Unmodified PU and polytetrafluoroethylene （PTFE） were added as control groups. CCK-8 assay was used to evaluate the cytotoxicity of these biomaterials. Data were processed using SPSS, and P〈 0.05 was considered to be statistically significant. Adherence and spreading of HUVECs on the surface of specimens was observed using direct contact cultivation. The toxicity ratings of the novel composites were grade 0-1, which is in the acceptable range. In all the experimental groups except control, SFP/PU with ratio of 1：9 had the least cytotoxicity property, and more content of SFP in the composite showed no improvement of the biocompatibility. HUVECs strongly attached to and grew on the surface of the biomaterials, and proliferated rapidly. The proliferation ability increased with increased proportion of SFP; however the cell quantity on the surface of the materials decreased when the proportion of SFP was equal to or larger than that of PU in the composite. It is concluded that this novel material has excellent cellular affinity with no cytotoxicity to HUVECs. Adding SFP gives PU better biocompatibility, while further research on optimum blend ratios is still needed.

Correlation analysis of interstitial maturity and prognosis of colorectal cancer:Meta-analysis

BACKGROUND To investigate the relationship between interstitial maturity and prognosis of colorectal *** To examine the correlation between interstitial maturity and the prognosis of colorectal *** The paper database PubMed,EMBASE,Cochranelibrary,Springerlink,CNKI,and Wanfang database were searched until December 2023."tumor stroma maturity""desmoplastic stroma reaction""desmoplastic reaction""stroma reaction""degree of stroma reaction""stroma classification""stroma density""colorectal cancer""colon cancer""rectal cancer""prognosis"were searched for the search *** system assessors independently screened the literature quality according to the inclusion exclusion criteria,Quality evaluation and data extraction were performed for the included literatures,and meta-analysis was performed for randomized control trials included at using Review Manager 5.2 *** Finally,data of 9849 patients with colorectal cancer from 19 cosets in 15 literatures were included,including 4339 patients with mature type(control group),3048 patients with intermediate type(intermediate group)and 2456 patients with immature type(immature group).The results of meta-analysis showed:Relapse-free survival[hazard ratio(HR)=2.66,95%confidence interval(CI):2.30-3.08;P<0.00001],disease-free survival(HR=3.68,95%CI:2.33-5.81;P<0.00001)and overall survival(HR=1.70,95%CI:1.53-1.87;P<0.00001)were significantly lower than those in mature group(control group);relapse-free survival(HR=1.36,95%CI:1.17-1.59;P<0.0001)and disease-free survival rate(HR=1.85,95%CI:1.53-2.24;P<0.0001)was significantly lower than the mature group(control group).CONCLUSION There is the correlation between tumor interstitial maturity and survival prognosis of colorectal cancer,and different degrees of tumor interstitial maturity have a certain impact on the quality of life of colorectal cancer patients.

Peracetic acid catalytic activation using Co3O4 nanocluster decorated graphitic carbon nitride for cefapirin degradation in water

This study innovated cobalt-based catalytic nanocomposites（CCNs） for the heterogeneous activation of peracetic acid（PAA）,a green and efficient advanced oxidation process for removing antibiotics from *** Co3O4catalysts exhibit limited activity due to stable electronic *** overcome this,CCNs were synthesized using a one-step condensation method,incorporating a size control strategy that anchors Co3O4nanoclusters within 4-5 nm onto six-fold cavity of g-C3N4,simultaneously modifying the coordination environment of *** alteration significantly enhances the adsorption energy of PAA and catalytic activity compared to commercial *** improved performance of CCN2,in particular,is attributed to a shift in the cobalt d band center towards the Fermi level,facilitating electron delocalization and transfer,enhancing Co-O bonding,and accelerating PAA ***2's superior activity,with a cefapirin（CFP） degradation kinetic rate constant(k1=0.760 min-1)～11 times that of PAA direct oxidation(k1=0.070 min-1) and～5 times that of commercial Co3O4/PAA system(k1=0.164 min-1),is due to its ability to generate dominant reactive species for antibiotic degradation,including alkoxy radicals(CH3C（=O）OO·),high valence metal(CoⅣ（=O）2+),and singlet oxygen（1O2）,with the latter two being crucial for the degradation *** degradation of CFP involved three mechanisms,including direct oxidation by PAA,decarboxylation,and open-ring reactions at nitrogen *** research provides insights into developing high-activity catalysts for efficient PAA activation and antibiotic removal,leveraging the strategy of shifting the transition metal d band center.

Long-term deformation analysis of Shuibuya concrete face rockfill dam based on response surface method and improved genetic algorithm
