Water-soluble chitosan promotes remediation of Pb-contaminated soil by Hylotelephium spectabile

Water-soluble chitosan(WSC)has been studied for its ability to mobilize soil Pb and promote the phytoremediation by Hylotelephium spectabile in Pb-contaminated *** aimed to clarify the internal mechanism by which wSC impacts phytoremediation by examining plant growth and Pb accumulation performance of *** as well as the Pb form,functional groups,and mineral phases of Pb-contaminated *** effectively decreased soil pH and activated Pb migration in rhizosphere soils,with a considerable increase in water-soluble and acid-extractable Pb by 29%-102%and 9%-65%,respectively,and a clear decreasing trend in reducible and oxidizable ***-transform infrared spectroscopy revealed a significant increase in amino and hydroxyl groups in the soil generated by *** coordination of Pb with amino and hydroxyl groups may play an important role in the formation of Pb complexes and activation of Pb in *** field trials,the application of WSC significantly increased Pb accumulation in *** by 125.44%,reaching 92 g/hm^(2).Moreover,the organic matter and nitrogen in the soils were increased by WSc,which improved the growth conditions of *** obvious growth inhibition was observed in either the pot or field ***,WSC is a promising chelating agent for mobilizing Pb in ***,WSC can be potentially used to boost ***-mediated phytoremediation of Pb-contaminatedfarmland.

Bifunctional electrolyte addition for longer life and higher capacity of aqueous zinc-ion hybrid supercapacitors

Owing to uncontrolled and uneven electrodeposition and side reactions,Zn metal anodes inevitably suffer from issues such as dendrite growth,hydrogen evolution reactions,and surface *** paper proposes an efficient strategy to address these critical issues for realizing long-life and high-capacity aqueous zinc-ion hybrid supercapacitors （ZHSCs） by incorporating low-concentration (0.05 mol·L-1) redox RbI electrolyte ***,rubidium cations have the ability to influence the negative Zn electrode surface via an electrostatic shielding mechanism,effectively protecting the electrode and minimizing undesired side *** an aqueous solution,iodide anions actively solvate Zn2+ions by stabilizing and modulating the solvation shell surrounding Zn2+.Moreover,the presence of iodide ions promotes the uniform deposition of Zn2+species by selective adsorption onto the electrode *** synergistic effect of the electrostatic shielding and halogen ions enables the realization of aqueous symmetric Zn||Zn cells with a substantial cycle life of more than 2000 h Additionally,when applied to commercial activated carbon（AC）,the proposed strategy facilitates the development of aqueous ZHSCs,exhibiting high specific capacitances(148.8 F·g-1at 4 A·g-1) and ultra-long cycling stability.

Shear mechanical properties and fracturing responses of layered rough jointed rock-like materials

This study aims to investigate mechanical properties and failure mechanisms of layered rock with rough joint surfaces under direct shear *** layered samples with dimensions of 100 mm×100 mm×100 mm were casted using rock-like materials,with anisotropic angle(α)and joint roughness coefficient(JRC)ranging from 15°to 75°and 2-20,*** direct shear tests were conducted under the application of initial normal stress(σ_(n)) ranging from 1-4 *** test results indicate significant differences in mechanical properties,acoustic emission(AE)responses,maximum principal strain fields,and ultimate failure modes of layered samples under different test *** peak stress increases with the increasingαand achieves a maximum value atα=60°or 75°.As σ_(n) increases,the peak stress shows an increasing trend,with correlation coefficients R² ranging from 0.918 to 0.995 for the linear least squares *** JRC increases from 2-4 to 18-20,the cohesion increases by 86.32%whenα=15°,while the cohesion decreases by 27.93%whenα=75°.The differences in roughness characteristics of shear failure surface induced byαresult in anisotropic post-peak AE responses,which is characterized by active AE signals whenαis small and quiet AE signals for a largeα.For a given JRC=6-8 andσ_(n)=1 MPa,asαincreases,the accumulative AE counts increase by 224.31%(αincreased from 15°to 60°),and then decrease by 14.68%(αincreased from 60°to 75°).The shear failure surface is formed along the weak interlayer whenα=15°and penetrates the layered matrix whenα=60°.Whenα=15°,as σ_(n) increases,the adjacent weak interlayer induces a change in the direction of tensile cracks propagation,resulting in a stepped pattern of cracks *** increase in JRC intensifies roughness characteristics of shear failure surface for a smallα,however,it is not pronounced for a largeα.The findings will contribute to a better understanding of the mechanical responses and failure mechanisms of the layered roc

AIM:To assess the clinical presentations and outcomes of idiopathic orbital inflammatory pseudotumor(IOIP)patients with orbital wall bone destruction(OWBD)and to propose an expanded classification system that includes bone ***:The study retrospectively reviewed clinical presentations,imaging findings,treatment modalities,and outcomes of six patients diagnosed histopathologically with IOIP and OWBD at the Beijing Tongren Hospital,Capital Medical University between October 2018 and June ***:Over two years,6(10%)of 60 IOIP patients at our hospital exhibited OWBD,but this may overrepresent severe *** cohort consisted of three men and three women,aged 17 to 60y(mean 35.5±16.1y).Presenting symptoms included proptosis,eyelid swelling,decreased visual acuity with pain,and palpable *** revealed multiple anatomical structures involved with the medial wall being the most common site of bone *** examination showed classic type in five patients and sclerosing type in one *** patients underwent surgical resection followed by methylprednisolone ***-up(mean 30.3±3.1mo)indicated three patients had no recurrence,while others had varying degrees of symptom persistence or ***:IOIP with bone destruction is a rare but significant subtype that mimics malignancy,leading to potential diagnostic and therapeutic *** findings suggest that complete surgical resection combined with adjunctive glucocorticoid therapy can yield favorable ***,larger-scale studies are needed to further optimize therapeutic approaches.

Wettability and corrosion behavior between alkaline slag from sodium smelting of vanadium-titanium magnetite and refractory substrates

The sodium smelting of vanadium-titanium magnetite can achieve the comprehensive utilization of Fe,V,and ***,the generation of alkaline slag during this process may cause damage to refractory *** wettability and corrosion behavior of alkaline slag on three types of refractory(MgO-C,SiC,and high alumina refractory)substrates were investigated at temperatures up to 1200℃.The effects of duration on the wettability of molten slag on SiC substrates were also *** showed that the high alumina refractory exhibited better wettability with the molten slag than the others,and thus,it is easier to be *** results of scanning electron microscopy coupled with energy dispersive spectroscopy showed that MgO-C and high alumina refractory substrates were severely *** was a visible and regular interfacial reaction layer between the slag and SiC refractory substrate,which was produced by the redox reaction between the metal oxides in the slag and the SiC refractory *** the increase in holding time,the interface layer expands and silico-ferrite phases are generated at the *** redox reaction between Fe_(2)O_(3) and SiC substrate is the main reason for the *** comparing the differences in wettability and corrosion behavior between the alkaline slag from sodium smelting of vanadium-titanium magnetite and MgO-C,SiC and high alumina refractories,it is concluded that SiC refractory has good corrosion resistance to the *** oxides in the slag accelerate the oxidation rate of SiC refractory.

Insight study of rare earth elements in PM_(2.5)during five years in a Chinese inland city:Composition

The booming development of rare earth industry and the extensive utilization of its products accompanied by urban development have led to the accelerated accumulation of rare earth elements(REEs)as emerging pollutants in atmospheric *** this study,the variation of REEs in PM_(2.5)with urban(a non-mining city)transformation was investigated through five consecutive years of sample *** compositional variability and provenance contribution of REEs in PM_(2.5)were characterized,and the REEs exposure risks of children and adults via inhalation,ingestion and dermal absorption were also *** results showed an increase in the total REEs concentration from 46.46±35.16 mg/kg(2017)to 81.22±38.98 mg/kg(2021)over the five-year period,with Ce and La making the largest *** actual increment of industrial and traffic emission source among the three pollution sources was 1.34 ng/m^(3).Coal combustion source displayed a downward *** was the main exposure pathway for REEs in PM_(2.5)for both children and *** contributed the most to the total intake of REEs in PM_(2.5)among the population,followed by La and *** exposure risks of REEs in PM_(2.5)in the region were relatively low,but the trend of change was of great *** was strongly recommended to strengthen the concern about traffic-related non-exhaust emissions of particulate matter.

High-performance broadband photodetector based on PtSe2/MoS2 heterojunction from visible to near-infrared region

Broadband photodetectors based on narrow bandgap 2D materials have garnered considerable interest for application in the field of optoelectronic devices. However, their large dark current hinders device performance. In this work, a PtSe2/MoS2heterojunction was fabricated for a broadband photodetector operating within the range of visible to near-infrared. The device exhibited suppressed dark currents with a high rectification ratio of 104. The built-in electric field of the heterojunction promoted carrier separation effectively, and the device achieved excellent photoelectric performance with responsivities of 1.7 × 103,27.52, and 21 mA/W at 635, 785, and 1550 nm wavelengths, respectively. Moreover, the specific detectivities(D*) were 2.2 × 1013Jones(635 nm), 3.55 × 1011Jones(785 nm), and 2.72 × 108Jones(1550 nm). The device demonstrated a rise/fall time of 131/241 μs under 1550 nm laser illumination. Visible and near-infrared imaging detection was also demonstrated based on the heterojunction device at room temperature. This work sheds light on the remarkable potential of PtSe2/MoS2heterojunctions in the domain of high-performance broadband photodetectors.

In this study,we aimed to assess the effect of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)infection on *** study comprised 110 sperm volunteers who self-reported SARS-CoV-2 infection from the Human Sperm Bank ofthe Center for Reproductive Medicine,Shandong University(Jinan,China).The volunteers had normal sperm concentration *** volunteer provided semen samples before and after *** selected 90 days after infection as the cutoff *** parameters within 90 days after infection of 109 volunteers(group A)were compared with semen parameters before ***,semen parameters on or after 90 days after infection of 36 volunteers(group B)were compared with semen parameters ***,based on whether the volunteers had completed the three-dose SARS-CoV-2 vaccination booster,volunteersin group A and B were further divided into two subgroups *** parameters were compared before and after infection ineach *** results showed that in this cohort population,the semen quality in volunteers with normal sperm concentrationsbefore infection decreased after SARS-CoV-2 infection within 90 days,while the semen quality returned to preinfection levels after *** completion of a three-dose SARS-CoV-2 vaccination booster may exert a protective effect on semen quality after infection.
