Study of deep transportation and plugging performance of deformable gel particles in porous media

Deformable gel particles(DGPs) possess the capability of deep profile control and flooding. However, the deep migration behavior and plugging mechanism along their path remain unclear. Breakage, an inevitable phenomenon during particle migration, significantly impacts the deep plugging effect. Due to the complexity of the process, few studies have been conducted on this subject. In this paper, we conducted DGP flow experiments using a physical model of a multi-point sandpack under various injection rates and particle sizes. Particle size and concentration tests were performed at each measurement point to investigate the transportation behavior of particles in the deep part of the reservoir. The residual resistance coefficient and concentration changes along the porous media were combined to analyze the plugging performance of DGPs. Furthermore, the particle breakage along their path was revealed by analyzing the changes in particle size along the way. A mathematical model of breakage and concentration changes along the path was established. The results showed that the passage after breakage is a significant migration behavior of particles in porous media. The particles were reduced to less than half of their initial size at the front of the porous media. Breakage is an essential reason for the continuous decreases in particle concentration, size, and residual resistance coefficient. However, the particles can remain in porous media after breakage and play a significant role in deep plugging. Higher injection rates or larger particle sizes resulted in faster breakage along the injection direction, higher degrees of breakage, and faster decreases in residual resistance coefficient along the path. These conditions also led to a weaker deep plugging ability. Smaller particles were more evenly retained along the path, but more particles flowed out of the porous media, resulting in a poor deep plugging effect. A precise dynamic model for towing and removing a defunct satellite with solar panels in orbit using a tethered net often has low computational efficiency owing to the complex contact and collision between the net and panels,which is not conducive to *** solve this problem,a“single main tether–multiple subtether”bifurcation structure with beads was employed as the tethered net *** study investigated the dynamics of tethered defunct satellites with solar panels,particularly the behavior of the attitude of the tethered satellite,oscillation of the main tether,and vibration of solar panels under different *** results showed that different attachment configurations of the subtethers and the flexibility of the main tether have an evident impact on the dynamic characteristics of the system.

Carbon efficiency modeling and optimization of solar-powered cellular networks

As wireless communication traffic experiences rapid growth, the carbon emissions caused by the communication industry are also on the rise. To achieve “carbon neutrality”, researchers are considering the use of renewable energy sources to power cellular networks, thereby reducing carbon emissions. However, a challenge arises when using renewable energy, specifically owing to the unpredictable nature of both the energy consumption of the cellular network and the power generation from renewable sources. This inconsistency results in low renewable energy utilization and reduced carbon efficiency. Herein, we construct a carbon efficiency model of solar-powered cellular networks using practical data from solar radiation. We propose a mechanism that alternately optimizes the performance of the renewable energy network and the cellular network. This approach is based on convex optimization theory and the Dinkelback algorithm, and it leads to the design of a carbon efficiency optimization algorithm. This algorithm aims to improve the carbon efficiency of cellular networks and reduce their carbon emissions. Simulation results demonstrate that our optimization scheme yields a maximum improvement of 2.56 × 108bps/g in the carbon efficiency of the cellular network as compared to conventional power allocation schemes such as the traditional water filling method and heuristic energy sharing and charge/discharge algorithms.

The estimation of fish mass is one of the most basic and important tasks in *** the mass of fish at different growth stages is of great significance for feeding,monitoring the health status of fish,and making breeding plans to increase *** existing estimation methods for fish mass often stay in the 2D plane,and it is difficult to obtain the 3D information on fish,which will lead to the *** solve this problem,a multi-view method was proposed to obtain the 3D information of fish and predict the mass of fish through a two-stage neural network with an edge-sensitive *** the first stage,the side-and downward-view images of the fish and some 3D information,such as side area,top area,length,deflection angle,and pitch angle,were captured to estimate the size of the fish through two vertically placed *** the area of the fish at different views was estimated accurately through the pre-trained image segmentation neural network with an edgesensitive *** the second stage,a fully connected neural network was constructed to regress the fish mass based on the 3D information obtained in the previous *** experimental results indicate that the proposed method can accurately estimate the fish mass and outperform the existing estimation methods.
