Chemokine platelet factor 4 accelerates peripheral nerve regeneration by regulating Schwann cell activation and axon elongation

Schwann cells in peripheral nerves react to traumatic nerve injury by attempting to grow and *** r,it is unclear what factors play a role in this *** this study,we searched a GEO database and found that expression of platelet factor 4 was markedly up-regulated after sciatic nerve *** factor is an important molecule in cell apoptosis,diffe rentiation,survival,and ***,polymerase chain reaction and immunohistochemical staining confirmed the change in platelet factor 4 in the sciatic nerve at different time points after ***-linked immunosorbent assay confirmed that platelet factor 4 was secreted by Schwann *** also found that silencing platelet factor 4 decreased the proliferation and migration of primary cultured Schwann cells,while exogenously applied platelet factor 4 stimulated Schwann cell prolife ration and migration and neuronal axon ***,knocking out platelet factor 4 inhibited the prolife ration of Schwann cells in injured rat sciatic *** findings suggest that Schwann cell-secreted platelet factor 4 may facilitate peripheral nerve repair and regeneration by regulating Schwann cell activation and axon ***,platelet factor 4 may be a potential therapeutic target for traumatic peripheral nerve injury.

Bioinspired Tactile Sensation Based on Synergistic Microcrack-Bristle Structure Design toward High Mechanical Sensitivity and Direction-Resolving Capability

Natural tactile sensation is complex,which involves not only contact force intensity detection but also the perception of the force direction,the surface texture,and other mechanical ***,the vast majority of the developed tactile sensors can only detect the normal force,but usually cannot resolve shear force or even distinguish the directions of the ***,we present a new paradigm of bioinspired tactile sensors for resolving both the intensity and the directions of mechanical stimulations via synergistic microcrack-bristle structure design and cross-shaped configuration *** microcrack sensing structure gives high mechanical sensitivity to the tactile sensors,and the synergistic bristle structure further amplifies the sensitivity of the *** cross-shaped configuration engineering of the synergistic microcrack-bristle structure further endows the tactile sensors with good capability to detect and distinguish the directions of the applied mechanical *** as-fabricated tactile sensors exhibit a high sensitivity(25.76 N^(−1)),low detection limit(5.4 mN),desirable stability(over 2,500 cycles),and good capability to resolve both mechanical intensity and directional *** promising application scenarios,surface texture recognition and biomimetic path explorations are successfully demonstrated with these tactile *** newly proposed tactile sensation strategy and technology have great potential applications in ingenious tactile sensation and construction of various robotic and bionic prostheses with high operational dexterity.

Adaptive sampling for corrugated plate digitization using a laser displacement sensor

The surface quality of a corrugated plate directly determines the heat transfer property of the thermal power mechanical *** detection methods are impractical for real-world production,being slow and *** contrast,the point laser displacement sensor,employing the optical triangle method,emerges as a promising device for assessing parts with variable curvature and highly reflective *** its benefits,high-density sampling by an innate frequency introduces challenges such as data redundancy and a poor signal-to-noise ratio,potentially affecting the efficiency and precision of subsequent data *** address these challenges,adjustable frequency data sampling has been developed for this sensor,allowing adaptive sampling for corrugated plate *** process begins with surface digitization to extract discrete points,which are transformed into intersection curves using the B-spline fitting ***,dominant points are identified,considering multigeometric constraints for curvature and arch ***,the sampling signal is adjusted based on the distribution information of dominant *** results indicate that the proposed method effectively minimizes redundant sampling without compromising the accurate capture of essential geometric features.

Predictors of Adverse Pregnancy Outcomes Following Traumatic Injuries

Objective After traumatic injury in pregnant women,providing timely and appropriate management for high-risk patients is crucial for both pregnant women and *** study aimed to identify risk factors that predict adverse pregnancy outcomes after traumatic *** A retrospective cohort study including 317 pregnant patients who experienced trauma was *** collected data included general demographics,injury mechanisms and adverse pregnancy *** were divided into two subgroups based on the absence or presence of trauma-related adverse pregnancy *** and multivariate logistic regressions were conducted to estimate the associations between clinical variables and adverse pregnancy *** A total of 41(12.93%)patients experienced adverse pregnancy outcomes within the first 24 h *** study revealed that age>35 years(OR=14.995,95%CI:5.024–44.755,Phe probability of posttraumatic adverse pregnancy *** age,gestational age at delivery,vaginal bleeding and positive FAST results were risk factors for abnormal *** Advanced maternal age,third trimester,and positive FAST results should alert multidisciplinary trauma teams to closely monitor patients to prevent adverse pregnancy outcomes.

In this paper,the numerical simulation method is used to study the ballistic performances of hourglass lattice sandwich structures with the same mass under the vertical incidence of *** is paid to elucidating the influences of rod cross-section dimensions,structure height,structure layer,and rod inclination angle on the deformation mode,ballistic performances,and ability to change the ballistic direction of *** results show that the ballistic performances of hourglass lattice sandwich structures are mainly affected by their structural *** this respect,structural parameters optimization of the hourglass lattice sandwich structures enable one to effectively improve their ballistic limit velocity and,consequently,ballistic performances.

Low Surface Brightness Galaxies Selected by Different Model Fitting

We present a study of low surface brightness galaxies(LSBGs) selected by fitting the images for all the galaxies inα.40 SDSS DR7 sample with two kinds of single-component models and two kinds of two-component models(disk+bulge):single exponential,single sersic,exponential+deVaucular(exp+deV),and exponential+sérsic(exp+ser).Under the criteria of the B band disk central surface brightness μ_(0,disk)(B)≥22.5 mag arcsec^(-2) and the axis ratio b/a> 0.3,we selected four none-edge-on LSBG samples from each of the models which contain 1105,1038,207,and 75 galaxies,*** are 756 galaxies in common between LSBGs selected by exponential and sersic models,corresponding to 68.42% of LSBGs selected by the exponential model and 72.83% of LSBGs selected by the sersic model,the rest of the discrepancy is due to the difference in obtaining μ_(0) between the exponential and sersic *** on the fitting,in the range of 0.5≤n≤1.5,the relation of μ_(0) from two models can be written as μ_(0,sérsic)-μ_(0,exp)=-1.34(n-1).The LSBGs selected by disk+bulge models(LSBG_(2)comps) are more massive than LSBGs selected by single-component models(LSBG_1comp),and also show a larger disk *** the bulges in the majority of our LSBG_(2)comps are not prominent,more than 60% of our LSBG_(2)comps will not be selected if we adopt a single-component model *** also identified 31 giant low surface brightness galaxies(gLSBGs) from LSBG_(2)*** are located at the same region in the color-magnitude diagram as other *** we compared different criteria of gLSBGs selection,we find that for gas-rich LSBGs,M_(*)> 10^(10)M_⊙ is the best to distinguish between gLSBGs and normal LSBGs with bulge.

Magnetic field imaging with radio-frequency optically pumped magnetometers [Invited]

High-sensitivity radio-frequency optically pumped magnetometers (RF-OPMs), working without cryogenic condition, play a critical role in magnetic field imaging(MFI) at low frequencies(e.g., 100 Hz to 1 MHz). We introduce the principle of operation and recent developments of RF-OPMs and focus on reviewing the MFI applications in magnetic induction tomography, ultralow-field magnetic resonance imaging, and magnetic particle imaging. For the applications of RF-OPMs, ranging from industrial monitoring to medical imaging and security screening, the unshielded and portable RF-OPMs(and RF-OPM array)techniques are still under the further development for detecting and scanning over the target object for accomplishing the final three-dimensional imaging, and thus extremely require the abilities of active compensation of the ambient magnetic field and sensor miniaturization in the future.

Enhanced degradation of florfenicol by microscale SiC/Fe:Dechlorination via hydrogenolysis

herein,the degradation of florfenicol(FLO)over zero-valent iron(ZVI)enhanced by SiC was systematically *** was found that 5 g/L of ZVI/SiC(1:3)at pH 3.0 could completely degrade 20 mg/L of FLO within 1 h,with a Kobsvalue of 0.0873 min^(-1),12.5 times greater than that of pure ZVI(0.0069 min^(-1)).Vibrating sample magnetometer(VSM)characterizations revealed that the use of SiC supporter reduces the magnetic intensity of ZVI,which mitigates iron particle agglomeration,increases Brunauer-Emmett-Teller(BET)surface area,and enhances FLO degradation ***,ZVI/SiC exhibits a much lower hydrogen evolution potential(heP)and significantly higher corrosion currents compared to pure *** was proposed to undergo degradation via reductive dechlorination,involving a hydrogenolysis mechanism that entails the cleavage of theσ*** study provides new insights into the reduction hydrogenation mechanism of ZVI.

Insufficient TRPM5 Mediates Lipotoxicity-induced Pancreaticβ-cell Dysfunction

Objective:While the reduction of transient receptor potential channel subfamily M member 5(TRPM5)has been reported in islet cells from type 2 diabetic(T2D)mouse models,its role in lipotoxicity-induced pancreaticβ-cell dysfunction remains *** study aims to study its ***:Pancreas slices were prepared from mice subjected to a high-fat-diet(HFD)at different time points,and TRPM5 expression in the pancreaticβcells was examined using immunofluorescence ***-stimulated insulin secretion(GSIS)defects caused by lipotoxicity were mimicked by saturated fatty acid palmitate(Palm).Primary mouse islets and mouse insulinoma MIN6 cells were treated with Palm,and the TRPM5 expression was detected using qRT-PCR and Western ***-induced GSIS defects were measured following siRNA-based Trpm5 *** detrimental effects of Palm on primary mouse islets were also assessed after overexpressing Trpm5 via an adenovirus-derived Trpm5(Ad-Trpm5).Results:HFD feeding decreased the mRNA levels and protein expression of TRPM5 in mouse pancreatic *** reduced TRPM5 protein expression in a time-and dose-dependent manner in MIN6 *** also inhibited TRPM5 expression in primary mouse *** of Trpm5 inhibited insulin secretion upon high glucose stimulation but had little effect on insulin *** of Trpm5 reversed Palm-induced GSIS defects and the production of functional maturation molecules unique toβ***:Our findings suggest that lipotoxicity inhibits TRPM5 expression in pancreaticβcells both in vivo and in vitro and,in turn,drivesβ-cell dysfunction.
