Nanodiamond/Ti3C2 MXene-coated quartz crystal microbalance humidity sensor with high sensitivity and high quality factor

To address the challenge of achieving both high sensitivity and a high quality factor in quartz crystal microbalance（QCM） humidity sensors,a nanodiamond（ND）/Ti3C2MXene composite-coated QCM humidity sensor was fabricated.The material characteristics of ND,Ti3C2MXene,and ND/Ti3C2MXene composite were analyzed by transmission electron microscopy（TEM） and Fourier transform infrared（FTIR） spectroscopy.The experimental results demonstrated that the hydrophilic ND nanoparticles coated on Ti3C2MXene nanosheet prevented the self-stacking of Ti3C2MXene and enhanced the sensitivity of Ti3C2MXene-based QCM humidity sensor.Moreover,the high mechanical modulus of Ti3C2MXene material helped ND/Ti3C2MXene composite-coated QCM humidity sensor to achieve a high quality factor（> 20,000）.ND/Ti3C2MXene compositecoated QCM humidity sensor exhibited a sensitivity of 82.45 Hz/%RH,a humidity hysteresis of 1.1 %RH,fast response/recovery times,acceptable repeatability,and good stability from 11.3%RH to 97.3%RH.The response mechanism of ND/Ti3C2MXene composite-coated QCM humidity sensor was analyzed in combination with a bi-exponential kinetic adsorption model.Finally,the potential application of ND/Ti3C2MXene composite-coated QCM humidity sensor was demonstrated through its frequency response to wooden blocks with different moisture contents.

In plants,the genome structure of hybrids changes compared with their parents,but the effects of these changes in hybrids remain elusive.Comparing reciprocal crosses between Col×C24 and C24×Col in Arabidopsis using high-throughput chromosome conformation capture assay(Hi-C)analysis,we found that hybrid three-dimensional(3D)chromatin organization had more long-distance interactions relative to parents,and this was mainly located in promoter regions and enriched in genes with heterosis-related pathways.The interactions between euchromatin and heterochromatin were increased,and the compartment strength decreased in hybrids.In compartment domain(CD)boundaries,the distal interactions were more in hybrids than their parents.In the hybrids of CURLY LEAF(clf)mutants clfCol×clfC24and clfC24×clfCol,the heterosis phenotype was damaged,and the long-distance interactions in hybrids were fewer than in their parents with lower H3K27me3.ChIP-seq data revealed higher levels of H3K27me3 in the region adjacent to the CD boundary and the same interactional homo-trans sites in the wild-type(WT)hybrids,which may have led to more long-distance interactions.In addition,the differentially expressed genes(DEGs)located in the boundaries of CDs and loop regions changed obviously in WT,and the functional enrichment for DEGs was different between WT and clf in the longdistance interactions and loop regions.Our findings may therefore propose a new epigenetic explanation of heterosis in the Arabidopsis hybrids and provide new insights into crop breeding and yield increase.

In this work,Fe_(3)O_(4) nanoparticles(NPs)loaded inside and outside halloysite nanotubes(HNTs)were prepared and developed as the heterogeneous Fenton-like catalysts for the removal of representative organic pollutants.Characterization results indicated that the samples with Fe_(3)O_(4) NPs loaded outside the HNTs lumen(Fe_(3)O_(4)/HNTs)and inside the HNTs lumen(Fe_(3)O_(4)@HNTs)were successfully prepared.Both samples had typical magnetic hysteresis loops,while Fe_(3)O_(4)@HNTs exhibited higher magnetization intensity.The comparative experiments showed that Fe_(3)O_(4)@HNTs had better Fenton-like catalytic ability than that of Fe_(3)O_(4)/HNTs in the degradation of various organic pollutants.Taking Rhodamine B(RhB)as an example,the adsorption thermodynamics and kinetics of RhB onto Fe_(3)O_(4)/HNTs and Fe_(3)O_(4)@HNTs were also investigated.The comparative results demonstrated that the adsorption ability of Fe_(3)O_(4)/HNTs was better than that of Fe_(3)O_(4)@HNTs.Moreover,the dissolved concentration of Fe^(2+)and production amount of hydroxyl radical(·OH)in the Fe_(3)O_(4)@HNTs-H_(2)O_(2) system were significantly higher than those in the Fe_(3)O_(4)/HNTs-H_(2)O_(2) system.Based on aforementioned comparison,the nano-confinement effect in the Fe_(3)O_(4)@HNTs-H_(2)O_(2) system was verified.This work provides meaningful guidance for the cheap and convenient design of nanoreactors for Fenton-like applications.

Currently,there is no solid criterion for judging the quality of the estimators in factor analysis.This paper presents a new evaluation method for exploratory factor analysis that pinpoints an appropriate number of factors along with the best method for factor extraction.The proposed technique consists of two steps:testing the normality of the residuals from the fitted model via the Shapiro-Wilk test and using an empirical quantified index to judge the quality of the factor model.Examples are presented to demonstrate how the method is implemented and to verify its effectiveness.

Recent landscape and trends for industry-sponsored pediatric clinical trials in China from 2013 to 2022

Importance: Pediatric medication is a challenging issue globally. Promoting trials of medications for children and implementing measures to encourage innovation for addressing unmet medical and health needs are important.Objective: To explore the recent landscape of pediatric clinical trials of new investigational drugs conducted by pharmaceutical enterprises in China from 2013 to 2022 to provide insight into pediatric drug development in the pharmaceutical industry and regulatory policy formulation.Methods: We performed a cross-sectional observational investigation of pediatric clinical trials registered from January 1, 2013, to December 31, 2022, on the Registration and Information Disclosure Platform for Drug Clinical Trials, the official registration platform established in 2013 for trials of new investigational drugs initiated by biopharmaceutical enterprises. Trials that included pediatric participants (under 18 years old) were retrieved, and their relevant characteristics were extracted and analyzed.Results: In total, 895 pediatric clinical trials were collected, accounting for 5.1% of the total registered clinical trials initiated prior to January 1, 2023. The overall average annual growth rate for the number of pediatric clinical trials was 12% (P he highest proportion (49.1%, 439). Of the 895 trials included, 736 (82.2%) were domestic trials, and 159 (17.8%) were international multicenter trials. In terms of tested drugs, investigations of biological products accounted for the largest proportion of trials (67.4%, 603). Among pediatric clinical trials, studies of vaccines accounted for the largest proportion of trials (41.0%, 367), followed by trials for rare diseases (17.2%, 154). The electric field-induced irreversible domain wall motion results in a ferroelectric(FE) hysteresis. In antiferroelectrics(AFEs), the irreversible phase transition is the main reason for the hysteresis effects, which plays an important role in energy storage performance. Compared to the well-demonstrated FE hysteresis,the structural mechanism of the hysteresis in AFE is not well understood. In this work, the underlying correlation between structure and the hysteresis effect is unveiled in Pb(Zr,Sn,Ti)O_(3) AFE system by using in-situ electrical biasing synchrotron X-ray diffraction. It is found that the AFE with a canting dipole configuration, which shows a continuous polarization rotation under the electric field, tends to have a small hysteresis effect. It presents a negligible phase transition, a small axis ratio, and electric field-induced lattice changing, small domain switching. All these features together lead to a slim hysteresis loop and a high energy storage efficiency. These results offer a deep insight into the structure-hysteresis relationship of AFEs and are helpful for the design of energy storage material.

This study aims to analyze the coking process and propose an effective method for the reutilization of fluid catalytic cracking(FCC)coke block.herein,we analyzed the basic characteristics and chemical composition of FCC coke blocks.The results showed that the main components were carbon,oxygen,and aluminum,accounting for 60.8%,26.6%,and 11.5%,respectively.Under the conventional catalytic cracking reaction temperature from 500°C to 600°C,the formation of the first aromatic hydrocarbon was particularly important for the formation of coke.The condensation of oil-gas-entrained catalyst particles and their heavy components was the physical cause of coking,while the dehydrogenation condensation reaction of oil-gas heavy components was the chemical factor.In addition,the membrane prepared by powdered coke had excellent photothermal conversion ability,which could be heated to more than 110°C within 360 s under two fixed light intensities.The evaporation rate of photothermal water was 5.89 kg m 2 h−1,which has great industrial application potential.These works provide a novel and effective method of separation membrane for the reutilization of FCC coke blocks.

Distributed acoustic sensing(DAS)technology has been a promising tool in various applications.Currently,the large size and relatively high cost of DAS equipment composed of discrete devices restrict its further popularization to some degree,and the photonic integration technology offers a potential solution.In this paper,we demonstrate an integrated interrogator for DAS on the silicon-on-insulator(SOI)platform.The design of the chip revolves around a Mach–Zehnder modulator(MZM)transmitter and a dual-quadrature and dualpolarization coherent receiver.The integrated interrogator supports multiple DAS schemes,including the time-gated digital optical frequency domain reflectometry(TGD-OFDR),which is adopted for system performance evaluation.59■strain resolution in 12.1km sensing fiber with 1.14 m spatial resolution(SR)is realized.Besides,along 49.0 km sensing fiber,81■strain resolution with 3.78 m SR is achieved.The results show that the integrated interrogator has comparable performance to the discrete DAS system.To the best of our knowledge,this is the first dedicated on-chip DAS interrogator,which validates the effectiveness of the blend of photonics integration and DAS technology.

Posttranslational modifications increase the complexity and functional diversity of proteins in response to complex external stimuli and internal changes.Among these,protein lipidations which refer to lipid attachment to proteins are prominent,which primarily encompassing five types including S-palmitoylation,N-myristoylation,S-prenylation,glycosylphosphatidylinositol(GPl)anchor and cholesterylation.Lipid attachment to proteins plays an essential role in the regulation of protein trafficking,localisation,stability,conformation,interactions and signal transduction by enhancing hydrophobicity.Accumulating evidence from genetic,structural,and biomedical studies has consistently shown that protein lipidation is pivotal in the regulation of broad physiological functions and is inextricably linked to a variety of diseases.Decades of dedicated research have driven the development of a wide range of drugs targeting protein lipidation,and several agents have been developed and tested in preclinical and clinical studies,some of which,such as asciminib and lonafarnib are FDA-approved for therapeutic use,indicating that targeting protein lipidations represents a promising therapeutic strategy.here,we comprehensively review the known regulatory enzymes and catalytic mechanisms of various protein lipidation types,outline the impact of protein lipidations on physiology and disease,and highlight potential therapeutic targets and clinical research progress,aiming to provide a comprehensive reference for future protein lipidation research.
