Single photon sources with single semiconductor quantum dots

In *** contribution, we briefly recall the basic concepts of quantum optics and properties of semicon- ductor quantum clot. （QD） which *** necessary to the nnderstanding of the physics of single-photon generation with single QDs. Firstly, we address the theory of quantmn emitter-cavity system, the fluorescence and optical properties of semiconductor QDs, and the photon statistics as well as opti- cal properties of the QDs. We then review the localizatioll of single semiconductor QDs in quantum confined optical microcavity systems to achieve their overall optical properties and perfornances in terms of strong coupling regime, elfieiency, directionality, and polarization control. Furthermore, we will discuss the recenl, progress on the fabrication of single photon sources, and various *** for embedding single QDs into mieroca,vities or photonic crystal nanoeavities and show how to ex- tend the wavelength range. We focus in part;icular on new generations of electrically driven QD single photon source leading to high repetition rates, efficiencies at elevated temperature operation. Besides strong eoupling regime, and high collection new development;s of room temperature sin- gle photon emission in the strong coupling regime are reviewed. The generation of indistinguishable photons and remaining challenges for pract ical single-photon sources are also discussed.

Group Living on Trees Does Not Elevate Inbreeding Risk in Shedao Pit Vipers Gloydius shedaoensis

Group living has increasingly been emphasized due to its potential consequence on inbreeding, nevertheless, the relationship between group living and inbreeding risk is largely unknown. The endangered snake species, Shedao pit viper(Gloydius shedaoensis) inhabiting mostly on Shedao Island(meaning "snake island" in Chinese), provides an excellent model system for research on group living and inbreeding risk. Small island area, high population density and extreme seasonal foraging opportunity prompt many individuals to live on the same tree, which likely increase the potential mating among relatives. To confirm this probability, we used genotypes from 13 microsatellites DNA markers and examined the genetic relationships between pair of individuals lived on the same tree. The results showed that snakes on the same tree did not show closer relationships compared with individuals from different trees. The group constructions based on scenarios of parental-offspring, full-sibling, half-sibling as well as cousin were not consistent with tree-based group living. In addition, we did not find significant correlation between pair of individual genetic distance and geographic distance going beyond trees, suggesting group living on trees might not elevate inbreeding risk.

Island species and their ecosystems play an important role in global biodiversity preservation,and many vulnerable island species are conservation *** insular habitat likely facilitates the species diversification process,it may also aggravate the fragility of these species with high risk of *** Shedao pit-viper Gloydius shedaoensis is an island endemic species with an extremely high population density,which has been categorized as vulnerable in the IUCN(International Union for the Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources)Red *** collected 13,148 SNP(Single Nucleotide Polymorphism)from across its genome and examined its genetic diversity and demographic *** Shedao pit-viper has a low genetic diversity but shows no sign of ***,population genetic structure analysis,including the neighbor-joining tree,principal coordinate analysis,clustering,and spatial autocorrelation,revealed a general lack of spatial *** the isolation by distance residues suggested a weak ***,the population is nearly panmictic and gene flow is evenly distributed across the island.A large number of individuals,small size of the island,and the lack of population structure likely all contribute to the lack of inbreeding in this *** also detected signs of male-biased dispersal,which likely is another inbreeding avoidance *** demographic analysis suggested that the historical population size and distribution of the species are much larger than their current *** multiple transgressive–regressive events since the Late Pleistocene are likely the main cause of the population size *** together,our results provide a basic scientific foundation for the conservation of this interesting and important species.

Effect of Acidified Aerosols on Initial Corrosion Behavior of Q235 Carbon Steel

The effect of simulated acidified marine aerosols on the corrosion morphology of carbon steel was studied using an in situ optical stereomicroscope and scanning electron microscope equipped with an energy-dispersive spectrometer and a whitelight *** morphologies of the carbon steel were identified under marine aerosols with diiferent droplet diameters,pH,and *** results showed that corrosion was initiated in tens of seconds under aerosol droplets acidified by HCl or *** the differences in the acidifier and diameter,corrosion for acidified droplets with pH>2 was general *** acidified droplets with pH<1,the corrosion morphology depended on the acidifier species,the ring-like morphology for HCl and ridge-like morphology for *** segregation of Cl^-was believed to be the main factor for the formation of the corrosion morphology under acidified droplets with pH<***,the concentration of SO4^2-in the droplets had some effect on the segregation of Cl-ions when pH<1.

Tumor microenvironment-responsive docetaxel-loaded micelle combats metastatic breast cancer

Efficient tumor-targeting drug delivery systems are urgently needed for treating metastatic breast *** this work, a docetaxel(DTX)-loaded micelle(pDM) as the tumor-microenvironment-responsive delivery platform is developed. The micelle is composed of a pH-sensitive amphiphilic copolymer,poly((1,4-butanediol)-diacrylate-b-N,N-diisopropylethylenediamine)-polyethyleneimine(BD-PEI), and a matrix metalloproteinase(MMP)-responsive polymer, poly((1,4-butanediol)-diacrylate-b-N,N-diisopropy lethylenediamine)-peptide-polyethylene glycol(PEG)(BD-peptide-PEG). The PEG block of BD-peptidePEG will be split by MMPs at the tumor microenvironment, which leads to the change of the surface charge and particle size of the micelle to more positive and smaller one. Owing to this transformation and enhanced permeability and retention(EPR) effect, pDM delivers more DTX into tumor tissues and is internalized more efficiently by tumor cells than the non-MMP-sensitive micelles in the 4 T1 tumorbearing mice model. In addition, DTX is released in acidic endo/lysosomes due to the dissociation of the micelle, triggered by the protonation of the hydrophobic block of BD-PEI. As a result, the DTX-loaded micelle inhibits primary tumor growth and pulmonary metastasis effectively. Thus, this pH/MMP-dual-sensitive drug delivery system, which simultaneously attains three keypoints: prolonged circulation time, directional and efficient uptake into tumor cells, and speedy intracellular drug release, is a promising strategy for metastatic breast cancer therapy.

Template effect of the solvents plays a key role in metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) *** addition,Bi3+ has a flexible and changeable coordination configuration,which is conducive to the construction of structurally diverse ***,we demonstrate that these features can be integrated into two stable bismuth-based porphyrin MOFs (named PFC-100 and PFC-101) with a wide range of light *** studies demonstrate that PFC-101 with weaker interactions of adjacent porphyrin planes achieves 22.2% photothermal conversion efficiency (PTCE);1.5-fold higher than that of PFC-100 (14.3%) under 660 nm *** study may shed light on the impact of solvent templates on the synthesis of bismuth-based MOFs,not only enriching the MOFs library but also broadening the horizon of their potential applications.

An Ethogram of the Toad-headed Lizard Phrynocephalus vlangalii during the Breeding Season

In this study, we intended to construct an ethogram of the toad-headed lizard Phrynocephalus vlangalii by classifying and describing its behaviors using the Posture-act-environment （PAE） method. Through direct field observation and video recording, we obtained eight postures, sixty-two acts and ten environments, and thus we formed an ethogram consisting of eighty-three behaviors encoded with PAE. A complete ethogram for a species could provide systematic behavioral information which helps to understand the connections among related behaviors and provides background information for specific behavioral study, hence the present ethogram will be greatly useful for future behavioral studies on P. vlangalii as well as other Phrynocephalus species.

Attractor for Lattice System of Dissipative Zakharov Equation

We consider the asymptotic behavior of solutions of an infinite lattice dynamical system of dissipative Zakharov equation. By introducing new weight inner product and norm in the space and establishing uniform estimate on ＂Tail End＂ of solutions, we overcome some difficulties caused by the lack of Sobolev compact embedding under infinite lattice system, and prove the existence of the global attractor; then by using element decomposition and the covering property of a polyhedron in the finite-dimensional space, we obtain an upper bound for the Kolmogorov ε-entropy of the global attractor; finally, we present the upper semicontinuity of the global attractor.

Coupling of reduced inorganic fertilizer with plant-based organic fertilizer as a promising fertilizer management strategy for colored rice in tropical regions

Colored rice is a type of high-quality,high-added-value rice that has attracted increasing attention in recent *** use of large amounts of inorganic nitrogen fertilizer in rice fields results in low fertilizer use efficiency and high environmental *** fertilizer is a promising way to improve soil quality and sustain high ***,most studies focus on the effect of animal-based organic *** effects of different ratios of plantbased organic fertilizer and inorganic fertilizer on the grain yield and quality of colored rice have rarely been ***,a two-year field experiment was conducted in 2020 and 2021 to study the effects of replacing inorganic N fertilizers with plant-based organic fertilizers on the yield,nitrogen use efficiency(NUE),and anthocyanin content of two colored rice varieties in a tropical region in *** experimental treatments included no nitrogen fertilization(T1),100% inorganic nitrogen fertilizer(T2),30%inorganic nitrogen fertilizer substitution with plant-based organic fertilizer(T3),60%inorganic nitrogen fertilizer substitution with plant-based organic fertilizer(T4),and 100% plantbased organic fertilizer(T5).The total nitrogen provided to all the treatments except T1 was the same at 120 kg *** results showed that the T3 treatment enhanced the grain yield and anthocyanin content of colored rice by increasing nitrogen use efficiency compared with *** average,grain yields were increased by 9 and 8%,while the anthocyanin content increased by 16 and 10% in the two colored rice varieties under T3 across the two years,respectively,as compared with *** study of the residual effect of partial substitution of inorganic fertilizers showed that the substitution of inorganic fertilizer with plant-based organic fertilizer improved the soil physiochemical properties,and thus increased the rice grain yield,in the subsequent *** highest grain yield of the subsequent rice crop was observe
