Enhanced hydrolytic removal of tylosin in wastewater using polymer-based solid acid catalysts converted from polystyrene

Antibiotic production wastewater usually contains high concentrations of antibiotic residues,which can cause instability and deterioration of biological wastewater treatment units and also domestication and proliferation of antibiotic-resistance bacteria.An effective pretreatment on antibiotics production wastewater is expected to selectively reduce the concentration of antibiotics and decrease the toxicity,rather than mitigate organic and other contaminants before further treatments.In this work,two polymer-based solid acids,PS-S and CPS-S bearing high concentrations of-SOH_(3)groups (up to 4.57 mmol/g),were prepared and successfully used for hydrolytic mitigation of 100 mg/L tylosin within 20 min.The co-existence of high concentrations of COD and humic substances did not affect the mitigation of tylosin obviously,while more than 500 mg/L of nitrogenous compounds suppressed the hydrolytic efficiency.Recycle and reuse experiments showed that the solid acids performed well in five cycles after regeneration.Three transformation products (P1,P2 and P3)were identified using UPLC-QTOF-MS/MS.Sugar moieties including mycarse,mycaminose,and mycinose detached and released simultaneously or in order from the 16-member lactone ring through desugarization,which led to a dramatic decrease in antibacterial activity as revealed by cytotoxicity evaluations using S.aureus.Ecotoxicity estimation indicated the acute toxicities of the hydrolyzed products to model species (e.g.,fish,daphnid and green algae) were classified as“not harmful”.This work suggested an effective and selective method to pretreat tylosin-contained production wastewater by using polymer-based solid acids.These results will shed light on effective elimination of antibiotics pollution from pharmaceutical industries through strengthening the pretreatments.

Preparation of CF/Ni-Fe/CNT/silicone layered rubber for aircraft sealing and electromagnetic interference shielding applications

To meet the needs of preventing information leakage in space engineering and military industry,an efficient method was introduced to obtain layered electromagnetic shielding sealing rubber.The carbon fiber,Ni-Fe coating,and Carbon Nano Tube(CNT)were combined by chemical plating and in-situ polymerization to obtain a lightweight(0.14 g/cm^(2))and thin(1 mm thick)Carbon fiber Fabric(CF)/Ni-Fe/CNT/silicone layered electromagnetic shielding composites.The layered material obtained by adjusting the electroless plating time exhibited a high Shielding Efficiency(SE)of 60.2–85.5 d B in the range of 0–4800 MHz,which can be used for aviation electromagnetic shielding.Carbon fibers and carbon nanotubes mainly attenuated electromagnetic waves through absorption loss,while the nickel-iron alloy coating through reflection loss interacted with the magnetic vector of incident Electro Magnetic(EM)radiation and magnetic dipoles,therefore,the EM Interference(EMI)shielding composite attenuated EM waves with the“absorptionreflection-absorption”cooperative interaction.Moreover,the flexible fabric substrate adhered with silicone rubber possessed a breaking elongation of 52.3%,which can be utilized as a good sealing material.Simultaneously,the outstanding exothermicity(67.2℃ under the applied voltage of 5 V)makes it possible to be applied in electric heating area.The electromagnetic shielding composites prepared in this paper have good potential in the fields of precision electronic equipment and aviation systems.

Bionic immunoactivator copresenting autophagy promoting and costimulatory molecules for synergistic cancer immunotherapy

Immunotherapy has great promise in improving malignant tumor treatment.However,the efficacy of existing strategies is often limited by the immunosuppressive environment.Here,we demonstrate an in situ bionic immunoactivator,PLT-Bec1/DTA-1,with possessed natural advantages of platelets for tumor recruitment and activation,on which DTA-1(CD357 monoclonal antibody)and Bec1 were tethered as combined immune boosters.PLT-Bec1/DTA-1,as a self-triggered release repository,can deliver the pre-tethered Bec1 and DTA-1 deeply through the secretion of platelet microparticles(PMPs),thereby cooperate tacitly and exhibit superiority in immune activation of dendritic cells(DCs)and T cells via autophagy inducibility,coupled with glucocorticoid-induced tumor necrosis factor receptor(GITR)-triggered T_(Reg) suppression,remodeled the immunosuppressive network of tumor microenvironment.PLT-Bec1/DTA-1 promoted antigen presentation and T cell proliferation,and alleviated the low activity state of bone marrow-derived dendritic cells(BMDCs)in tumor suppressive environment.PLT-Bec1/DTA-1 inhibited tumor recurrence(5-and 13-fold lower of control group in tumor volume)and CD8^(+)T/T_(Reg) ratio(6.3-and 8.8-fold vs.control group)in mouse tumor model after intravenous or subcutaneous administration.Also,PLT-Bec1/DTA-1 prevented tumor colonization in lung through in situ immune activation,and was slightly superior to the combined of Bec1 and PD-L1.Our findings highlight the promise of delivering immunostimulatory payloads via bionic carriers,eliciting automatic in situ activation of effector immune cells in tumor microenvironment for tumor eradication.All these results provide promising prospects into the application of immunoactivator in improving cancer synergistic immunotherapy to overcome the bottlenecks in clinic.

Effects of natural organic matter on cadmium mobility in paddy soil: A review

Cadmium(Cd) contamination in paddy soil has caused public concern. The uptake of Cd by rice plants depends on soil Cd mobility, which is in turn substantially influenced by organic matter(OM). In this review, we first summarize the fate of Cd in soil and the role of OM. We then focus on the effects of OM on Cd mobility in paddy soil and the factors influencing the remedial effectiveness of OM amendments. We further discuss the performance of straw incorporation in the remediation of Cd-contaminated paddy soils reported in laboratory and field studies. Considering the huge production of organic materials(such as straw) in agriculture, the use of natural OM for soil remediation has obvious appeal due to the environmental benefits and low cost. Although there have been successful application cases, the properties of OM amendments and soil can significantly affect the remedial performance of the OM amendments. Importantly, straw incorporation alone does not often decrease the mobility of Cd in soil or the Cd content in rice grains. Careful evaluation is required when considering natural OM amendments, and the factors and mechanisms that influence their remedial effectiveness need further investigation in paddy soil with realistic Cd concentrations.

Effects of Total Saponins from Dioscorea Nipponica Makino on Monosodium Urate-Induced M1-Polarized Macrophages through Arachidonic Acid Signaling Pathway:An in vitro Study

Objective To investigate and reveal the underlying mechanism of the effect of total saponins from Dioscoreae nipponica Makino(TSDN)on the arachidonic acid pathway in monosodium urate(MSU)crystal-induced M1-polarized macrophages.Methods M1 polarization of RAW264.7 cells were induced by 1µg/mL lipopolysaccharide(LPS).The methylthiazolyldiphenyl-tetrazolium bromide method was then used to screen the concentration of TSDN.MSU(500µg/mL)was used to induce the gouty arthritis model.Afterwards,10µg/L TSDN and 8µmol/L celecoxib,which was used as a positive control,were added to the above LPS and MSU-induced cells for 24 h.The mRNA and protein expressions of cyclooxygenase(COX)2,5-lipoxygenase(5-LOX),microsomal prostaglandin E synthase derived eicosanoids(mPGES)-1,leukotriene B(LTB)4,cytochrome P450(CYP)4A,and prostaglandin E_(2)(PGE_(2))were tested by real-time polymerase chain reaction and Western blotting,respectively.The enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay was used to test the contents of M1 markers,including inducible nitric oxid synthase(NOS)2,CD80,and CD86.Results TSDN inhibited the proliferation of M1 macrophages and decreased both the mRNA and protein expressions of COX2,5-LOX,CYP4A,LTB4,and PGE_(2)(P<0.01)while increased the mRNA and protein expression of mPGES-1(P<0.05 or P<0.01).TSDN could also significantly decrease the contents of NOS2,CD80,and CD86(P<0.01).Conclusion TSDN has an anti-inflammation effect on gouty arthritis in an in vitro model by regulating arachidonic acid signaling pathway.

Some Numerical Extrapolation Methods for the Fractional Sub-diffusion Equation and Fractional Wave Equation Based on the L1 Formula

With the help of the asymptotic expansion for the classic Li formula and based on the L1-type compact difference scheme,we propose a temporal Richardson extrapolation method for the fractional sub-diffusion equation.Three extrapolation formulas are presented,whose temporal convergence orders in L_(∞)-norm are proved to be 2,3-α,and 4-2α,respectively,where 0<α<1.Similarly,by the method of order reduction,an extrapola-tion method is constructed for the fractional wave equation including two extrapolation formulas,which achieve temporal 4-γ and 6-2γ order in L_(∞)-norm,respectively,where1<γ<2.Combining the derived extrapolation methods with the fast algorithm for Caputo fractional derivative based on the sum-of-exponential approximation,the fast extrapolation methods are obtained which reduce the computational complexity significantly while keep-ing the accuracy.Several numerical experiments confirm the theoretical results.

Total Saponin Fraction of Dioscorea Nipponica Makino Improves Gouty Arthritis Symptoms in Rats via M1/M2 Polarization of Monocytes and Macrophages Mediated by Arachidonic Acid Signaling

Objective:To explore the mechanism of effects of total saponin fraction from Dioscorea Nipponica Makino(TSDN)on M1/M2 polarization of monocytes/macrophages and arachidonic acid(AA)pathway in rats with gouty arthritis(GA).Methods:Seventy-two Sprague Dawley rats were randomly divided into 4 groups(n=18 in each):normal,model,TSDN at 160 mg/kg,and celecoxib at 43.3 mg/kg.Monosodium urate crystal(MSU)was injected into the rats’ankle joints to induce an experimental GA model.Blood and tissue samples were collected on the 3rd,5th,and 8th days of drug administration.Histopathological changes in the synovium of joints were observed via hematoxylin and eosin(HE)staining.The expression levels of arachidonic acid(AA)signaling pathway were assessed via real-time polymerase chain reaction(q PCR)and Western blot.Flow cytometry was used to determine the proportion of M1 and M2 macrophages in the peripheral blood.An enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA)was used to detect interleukine(IL)-1β,tumor necrosis factoralpha(TNF-α),IL-4,IL-10,prostaglandin E_(2)(PGE_(2)),and leukotriene B4(LTB4).Results:HE staining showed that TSDN improved the synovial tissue.q PCR and Western blot showed that on the 3rd,5th and 8th days of drug administration,TSDN reduced the m RNA and protein expressions of cyclooxygenase(COX)2,microsomal prostaglandin E synthase-1 derived eicosanoids(m PGES-1),5-lipoxygenase(5-LOX),recombinant human mothers against decapentaplegic homolog 3(Smad3),nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain-like receptor protein 3(NALP3),and inducible nitric oxide synthase(i NOS)in rats’ankle synovial tissues(P<0.01).TSDN decreased COX1 m RNA and protein expression on 3rd and 5th day of drug administration and raised it on the 8th day(both P<0.01).It lowered CD68 protein expression on days 3(P<0.01),as well as m RNA and protein expression on days 5 and 8(P<0.01).On the 3rd,5th,and 8th days of drug administration,TSDN elevated the m RNA and protein expression of Arg1 and CD163(P<0.01).Flow cytometry results showed that TSDN decreased

Objective To explore the application value of Magnetic Resonance(MR) three-dimensional(3D) sampling perfection with application-optimized contrasts using different flip-angle evolution(SPACE) and the short time inversion recovery(STIR) sequences in displaying the inferior alveolar nerve.Methods 10 volunteers were prospectively enrolled, non-enhanced and enhanced 3D-STIR MR sequence were performed using combined head and neck coil.Imaging scores of non-enhanced and enhanced 3D-STIR MR were evaluated. Moreover, signal intensity of the masseter muscle and medial pterygoid muscle were measured to calculate the signal intensity ratio(SIR) and contrast noise ratio( CNR). Results The subjective score of image quality of enhanced 3D-STIR MR sequence was higher than that of non-enhanced sequence,which had excellent consistency among observers,and the Kappa coefficients were 0.912,0.875,respectively.The SIR and CNR values of enhanced 3D-SPACE-STIR MR sequence of inferior alveolar nerve were higher than those of non-enhanced MR imaging.Conclusion The image background suppression of enhanced 3D-STIR MR sequence was superior to that of non-enhanced 3D--STIR MR sequence;Enhanced 3D-STIR MR sequence can clearly show the inferior alveolar nerve.

The present exploratory study investigates the performance of a new, rapid, synthetic MRI method for diagnostic image quality assessment in temporomandibular joint and related muscles. The multi-dynamic multi-echo (MDME) sequence was used for data acquisition, followed by synthetic image reconstruction on a 3T MRI scanner for 10 patients. The vendor termed the combined package Magnetic Resonance Imaging Compilation (MAGIC).

Salidroside is a phenolic secondary metabolite present in plants of the genus Rhodiola,and studies investigating its extensive pharmacological activities and mechanisms have recently attracted increasing attention.This review summarizes the progress of recent research on the antiproliferative activities of salidroside and its effects on breast,ovarian,cervical,colorectal,lung,liver,gastric,bladder,renal,and skin cancer as well as gliomas and fibrosarcomas.Thus,it provides a reference for the further development and utilization of salidroside.
