Sound speed profiles in high spatiotemporal resolution using multigrid three-dimensional variational method:a coastal experiment off northern Shandong Peninsula

It is essential to ac quire sound speed profiles(SSPs)in high-precision spatiotemporal resolution for undersea acoustic ***,conventional observation methods cannot obtain high-resolution ***,S SPs are complex and changeable in time and space,especially in coastal *** proposed a new space-time multigrid three-dimensional variational method with weak constraint term(referred to as STC-MG3DVar)to construct high-precision spatiotemporal resolution SSPs in coastal areas,in which sound velocity is defined as the analytical variable,and the Chen-Millero sound velocity empirical formula is introduced as a weak constraint term into the cost function of the *** spatiotemporal correlation of sound velocity observations is taken into account in the STC-MG3DVar method,and the multi-scale information of sound velocity observations from long waves to short waves can be successively *** weak constraint term can optimize sound velocity by the physical relationship between sound velocity and temperature-salinity to obtain more reasonable and accurate *** verify the accuracy of the STC-MG3DVar,SSPs observations and CTD observations(temperature observations,salinity observations)are obtained from field experiments in the northern coastal area of the Shandong *** average root mean square error(RMSE)of the STC-MG3DVar-constructed SSPs is 0.132 m/s,and the STC-MG3DVar method can improve the SSPs construction accuracy over the space-time multigrid 3DVar without weak constraint term(ST-MG3DVar)by 10.14%and over the spatial multigrid 3DVar with weak constraint term(SC-MG3DVar)by 44.19%.With the advantage of the constraint term and the spatiotemporal correlation information,the proposed STC-MG3DVar method works better than the ST-MG3DVar and the SCMG3DVar in constructing high-precision spatiotemporal re solution SSPs.

The field of digital audio forensics aims to detect threats and fraud in audio *** audio forensic techniques use digital signal processing to detect the authenticity of recorded speech,recognize speakers,and recognize recording ***-generated audio recordings from mobile phones are very helpful in a number of forensic *** article proposed a novel method for recognizing recording devices based on recorded audio ***,a database of the features of various recording devices was constructed using 32 recording devices(20 mobile phones of different brands and 12 kinds of recording pens)in various ***,the audio features of each recording device,such as the Mel-frequency cepstral coefficients(MFCC),were extracted from the audio signals and used as model ***,support vector machines(SVM)with fractional Gaussian kernel were used to recognize the recording devices from their audio *** demonstrated that the proposed method had a 93.4%accuracy in recognizing recording devices.

Effects of abiotic stress and hormones on the expressions of five13-CmLOXs and enzyme activity in oriental melon(Cucumis melo *** Makino)

Lipoxygenases（LOXs） are a group of non-heme,iron-containing enzymes and extensively involved in plant growth and development,ripening and senescence,stress responses,biosynthesis of regulatory molecules and defense *** our previous study,18 LOXs in melon genome were screened and identified,and five 13-LOX genes（CmLOX08,CmLOX10,CmLOX12,CmLOX13 and CmLOX18） were predicted to locate in *** analysis result showed that the five genes have high homology with jasmonic acid（JA） biosynthesis-related LOXs from other *** addition,promoter analysis revealed that motifs of the five genes participate in gene expression regulated by hormones and ***,we analyzed the expressions of the five genes and LOX activity in leaves of four-leaf stage seedlings of oriental melon cultivar Yumeiren under abiotic stress：wounding,cold,high temperature and hydrogen peroxide（H_2O_2）,and signal molecule treatments：methyl jasmonate（MeJA）,abscisic acid（ABA） and salicylic acid（SA）.Real time qPCR revealed that wounding and H_2O_2 induced the expressions of all the five *** CmLOX08 was induced by cold while only CmLOX13 was suppressed by high *** induced the expressions of CmLOXIO and CmLOX12 while inhibited CmLOX13 and *** increased the 3 genes expressions except CmLOX08 and CmLOX13,whereas SA decreased the effect,apart from *** the abiotic stresses and signal molecules treatments increased the LOX activity in leaves of oriental *** summary,the results suggest that the five genes have diverse functions in abiotic stress and hormone responses,and might participate in defense *** data generated in this study will be helpful in subcellular localization and transgenic experiment to understand their precise roles in plant defense response.

An application of the A-4DEnVar to coupled parameter optimization

In variational methods,coupled parameter optimization(CPO) often needs a long minimization time window(MTW) to fully incorporate observational information,but the optimal MTW somehow depends on the model *** analytical four-dimensional ensemble-variational(A-4DEnVar) considers model nonlinearity well and avoids adjoint *** can theoretically be applied to *** verify the feasibility and the ability of the A-4DEnVar in CPO,“twin” experiments based on A-4DEnVar CPO are conducted for the first time with the comparison of four-dimensional variational(4D-Var).Two algorithms use the same background error covariance matrix and optimization algorithm to control *** experiments are based on a simple coupled oceanatmosphere model,in which the atmospheric part is the highly nonlinear Lorenz-63 model,and the oceanic part is a slab ocean *** results show that both A-4DEnVar and 4D-Var can effectively reduce the error of state variables through ***,two methods produce almost the same results in most cases when the MTW is less than 560 time *** results are similar when the MTW is larger than 560 time steps and less than 880 time *** largest MTW of 4 D-Var and A-4DEnVar are 1 200 time ***,A-4DEnVar is not sensitive to ensemble size when the MTW is less than 720 time steps.A-4DEnVar obtains satisfactory results in the case of highly nonlinear model and long MTW,suggesting that it has the potential to be widely applied to realistic CPO.

Endovenous laser treatment vs conventional surgery for great saphenous vein varicosities: A propensity score matching analysis

Equilibrium Joining Strategies of Retrial Queueing Systems with Two-phase Service and Priority-purchasing

This paper considers the customer’s equilibrium joining-balking behavior in a retrial queue with two-phase service and priority-purchasing. If the arriving customer finds the server busy, the customer can make three choices (joining the orbit, purchasing the priority or balking) based on different levels of the system information. We consider two cases:the partially observable case and the fully unobservable case. The customer’s equilibrium strategy for the partially observable case and the fully unobservable case are derived. Then, an algorithm is developed to solve the optimal fee that maximizes the service provider’s profit. Finally, the influence of system parameters on performance measures, equilibrium joining strategies and the service provider’s profits is illustrated by numerical examples.

Bis-(8-hydroxyquinoline) copper nanoribbons: preparation,characterization, and photoconductivity

Bis-(8-hydroxyquinoline) copper nanoribbons with an average width of 400 nm, a thickness of 70 nm and the length of up to tens of micrometers, were synthesized by a facile solvothermal method. X-ray powder diffraction and Fourier transform infrared spectrum were employed to determine their structure. The photoconductivity of a bundle of nanoribbons was also measured, which exhibited unique photoresponse to light, indicating their potential applications in photoswitch nanodevices in the future.

Shikimic Acid Promotes Oligodendrocyte Precursor Cell Differentiation and Accelerates Remyelination in Mice

The obstacle to successful remyelination in demyelinating diseases, such as multiple sclerosis, mainly lies in the inability of oligodendrocyte precursor cells(OPCs) to differentiate, since OPCs and oligodendrocytelineage cells that are unable to fully differentiate are found in the areas of demyelination. Thus, promoting the differentiation of OPCs is vital for the treatment of demyelinating diseases. Shikimic acid(SA) is mainly derived from star anise, and is reported to have antiinfluenza, anti-oxidation, and anti-tumor effects. In the present study, we found that SA significantly promoted the differentiation of cultured rat OPCs without affecting their proliferation and apoptosis. In mice, SA exerted therapeutic effects on experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis(EAE), such as alleviating clinical EAE scores, inhibiting inflammation, and reducing demyelination in the CNS. SA also promoted the differentiation of OPCs as well as their remyelination after lysolecithin-induced ***, we showed that the promotion effect of SA on OPC differentiation was associated with the up-regulation of phosphorylated m TOR. Taken together, our resultsdemonstrated that SA could act as a potential drug candidate for the treatment of demyelinating diseases.
