Regolith thickness modeling using a GIS approach for landslide distribution analysis, NW Himalayas

Regolith thickness is considered as a contributing factor for the occurrence of ***, mostly it is ignored because of complex nature and as it requires more time and resources for investigation. This study aimed to appraise the role of regolith thickness on landslide distribution in the muzaffarabad and surrounding areas, NW *** this purpose regolith thickness samples were evenly collected from all the lithological units at representative sites within different slope and elevation classes in the field. Topographic attributes(slope, aspect, drainage, Topographic Wetness Index,elevation and curvature) were derived from the Digital Elevation model(DEm)(12.5 m resolution).Arc GIS model Builder was used to develop the regolith thickness model. Stepwise regression technique was used to explore the spatial variation of regolith thickness using topographic attributes and lithological units. The derived model explains about 88% regolith thickness variation. The model was validated and shows good agreement(70%) between observed and predicted values. Subsequently, the derived regolith model was used to understand the relationship between regolith thickness and landslide distribution. The analysis shows that most of the landslides were located within 1-5 m regolith thickness. However, landslide concentration is highest within 5-10 m regolith thickness, which shows that regolith thickness played a significant role for the occurrence of landslide in the studied area.

Saindha salt is considered to be more advantageous than the other edible salts for the patients suffering from diabetes,blood pressure and kidney *** explore the constituent elements of this salt,laser induced breakdown spectroscopy(LIBS) has been exploited for its qualitative and quantitative *** third harmonic(355 nm) of a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser has been used to produce the saindha salt plasma and the time integrated optical emission spectra were registered using a set of six miniature spectrometers covering the spectral range of 230-805 *** spectroscopic analysis of the emission spectra predominately revealed numerous neutral or singly ionized emission lines of Ca,mg,Na,K,Fe,Sr,Si,Li and *** laser produced plasma was characterized by calculating the electron temperature from the Boltzmann plots and the electron number density from the Stark broadened line profile as a function of laser irradiance and distance from the target *** relative concentration of the constituent elements was extracted by the integrated line intensities of the strongest spectral line of each element using the self-calibration-LIBS(SC-LIBS) and one-line calibration free-LIBS(OLCF-LIBS) *** cross-validation,the LIBS results have been compared with that obtained from the inductively coupled plasma-mass spectroscopy(ICP-mS) showing good agreement.

A PETROLOGICAL OVERVIEW OF THE KOHISTAN mAGmATIC ARC, NW HImALAYA, N. PAKISTAN

The Kohistan Terrane in N. Pakistan occupies the suture zone between the collided Indian and Asian plates [1] . It formed primarily as an intra\|oceanic island\|arc crust between 125 and 90ma prior to its accretion with the Asian plate along the Shyok suture. The final obduction of Kohistan onto the Indian plate in Early Eocene ensued the principal phase of the Himalayan orogeny.A two\|fold subdivision of the rocks forming the Kohistan crust is now well established [2] . much of the ultramafic\|mafic component of the arc crust developed in the intraoceanic setting prior to collision with Asia. mafic\|ultramafic plutonic complexes (Jijal and Sapat), together with gabbroic\|basaltic amphibolites (Kamila belt), at the base of the arc crust, and basaltic\|boninitic volcanics (the Chalt Formation) and Jaglot\|Yasin metasediments, in the upper arc crust are representative lithologies of this tectonic setting. Post Shyok suture lithologies include ca.80～45ma Kohistan Batholith, Early Eocene Utror\|Shamaran volcanics and sedimentary rocks deposited in Early Eocene Dir and Drosh basins in Andean\|type setting. The Chilas gabbronorite\|ultramafic complex was magmatically emplaced in the waning stages of the intraoceanic phase but preceded the onset of the Andean\|type magmatism.

Coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)is a current pandemic that has affected more than 195 countries *** this severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)pandemic,when treatment strategies are not yet clear and vaccines are not available,vitamins are an excellent choice to protect against this viral *** rationale behind this study was to examine the inhibitory effect of vitamins B,C,and D against the main protease of SARSCoV-2 and angiotensin-converting enzyme 2(ACE2),which have critical rolesin the immune *** docking,performed by using mOE-Dock of the Chemical Computing Group,was used to understand the *** vitamins all docked within the active sites of the mpro(PDB ID:6LU7)and ACE2 receptor proteins(PDB ID:6VW1).Vitamins B and C delivered maximum energy scores against both targets,while vitamin D displayed a binding energy score of−7.9532 kcal/mol for m^(pro) and−7.9297 for *** efficiency of all three vitamins is higher than the binding energy score of chloroquine(−6.889 kcal/mol),which is now under clinical *** use of vitamins is beneficial,being immune system restorative,and they also act as anti-COVID *** the potential beneficial effects of vitamin B and C are revealed through docking studies,further clinical trials are required for the validation of these results.

Cracking Phenomenon in Spot Welded Joints of Austenitic Stainless Steel

The spot welds nugget cracking of austenitic stainless steel at temperatures between 700°C - 1010°C was investigated. Traditionally, the cracks have been observed around the spot nugget in welded temperature. Actually, these cracks are developed due to incomplete melting and inappropriate electrode pressure, which causes an expulsion of molten metal. These cracks start to grow and cause either the interface or plug fracture according to the loading type. In this work, the micro-cracks in the weld nugget were indicated for this type of steel at elevated temperature. Cracks appear in a certain range of temperature;about 700°C - 750°C. The cracks like defect and cavitations were presented. According to the fracture mechanics point of view, these cracks reduce the mechanical strength. Therefore, these cracks have to be taken into account with a certain precaution. moreover, considering the working temperature and reducing the element may develop ferrite particles.

An efficient energy-management strategy for a DC microgrid powered by a photovoltaic/fuel cell/battery/supercapacitor

The outcome of this paper is to suggest an efficient energy-management strategy(EmS)for a direct-current(DC)microgrid(mG).The typical mG is composed of two renewable energy sources[photovoltaic(PV)systems and fuel cells(FCs)]and two energy-storage elements(lithium-ion battery and supercapacitor).An EmS was proposed to ensure optimal bus voltage with a power-sharing arrangement between the load and the *** a result,in the suggested DC mG,non-linear flatness control theory was used instead of the traditional proportional-integral control *** suggested EmS is intended to supply high power quality to the load under varying load conditions with fluctuating solar irradiation while considering the FC *** validate and prove the effectiveness of the proposed EmS,a mATLAB®environment was *** addition,the output power of the PV system was maximized using the particle swarm optimization algorithm as a maximum power point tracking(mPPT)technique to track the mPP of the 3000-W PV system under different irradiance *** results show that the suggested EmS delivers a stable and smooth DC bus voltage with minimum overshoot value(0.1%)and improved ripple content(0.1%).As a result,the performance of the DC mG was enhanced by employing the flatness control theory,which provides higher power quality by stabilizing the bus voltage.

AIm:To investigate the similarities and dissimilarities in patients with hepatitis B and hepatitis C,clinically and metabolically. mETHODS:Fifty patients with hepatitis B virus and hepatitis C virus infection were included in this study, along with fifty healthy controls for comparison *** blood(10 mL)samples from patients and healthy subjects were collected and made to clot before serum was separated and immediately levels of the enzymes,alkaline phosphatase(ALK),creatinine phosphokinase(CPK),lactate dehydrogenase (LDH),serum glutamate oxaloacetate transaminase(sGOT)and serum glutamate pyruvate transaminase(sGPT)were determined by a kit *** total con-tent of each metal the serum samples were analyzed using atomic absorption *** of cholesterol,triglycerides,urea,creatinine and uric acid were determined using a kit method on microlab 300. RESULTS:Serum magnesium and copper levels remained unchanged,whereas the concentration of zinc decreased and iron increased significantly in both groups of *** antioxidant activity was significantly decreased in both hepatitis B and *** the enzymes analyzed,ALK,s-GPT,LDH and s-GOT were all significantly increased in both patients with hepatitis B and C whereas CPK was significantly decreased in patients with hepatitis B and remained unchanged in patients with hepatitis C. CONCLUSION:The information accumulated by this study will help provide a better understanding of involved metabolic processes in order to design appropriate therapeutic approaches for treating these patients,so they can recover and lead normal lives.

Polyvinylbenzyl Tris-Aminodicarboxylate microspheres for the Optical Sensing of Cu<sup>2+</sup>Ions

In this work, a tris(2-aminoethyl)aminodicaboxylate functionality was substituted for the chloride of polyvinyl-benzyl chloride (PVBC) which was lightly cross-linked (2%) with divinyl benzene. The resulting derivatized polymer microspheres were embedded in a hydrogel matrix of poly vinyl alcohol cross-linked with glutaraldehyde to produce a sensing membrane. The latter responded selectively to Cu2+ solutions of different concentration ranges (1 × 10-4 m to 1 × 10-6 m). The response is based on the interaction between the metal cations and the negatively charged deprotonated dicarboxylate functional group, which led to neutralization of the charges. As a result, an increase in the turbidity of the sensing membrane occurred which is attributed to a change in the refractive index of the derivatized polymer microspheres relative to that of the hydrogel. The change in the turbidity of the sensing membrane was measured as absorbance using a conventional spectrophotometer. It was found that Cu2+ ions bind to the aminodicarboxylated-polymer with a formation constant, Kf, of 1 × 105 m-1. SEm, Eds and IR analyses were performed on the aminodicarboxylated microspheres and their Cu2+ complex.

空泡份额在两相流体积计算中是一个重要的过程变量。读数不准确,可能会导致数据和安全性的潜在损失。由于核工业上高安全标准,空泡份额是十分重要的。在内径为40mm的L形台架中,气水两相流由水平段流入竖直段台架,气体和液体速度分别从0到0.1988m/s和0.2209m/s到0.6629m/s。分别测量泡状流和弹状流下的压降。水平测量段安装差压传感器,传感器两端的压力感应线长度为lm。竖直段安装有两个绝压传感器和一个差压传感器,压力感应线长度与水平段相同。通过与广泛接受的贝格＆布里尔和弗里德尔的相关关系,对实验的压降结果进行了验证。实验压降结果与贝格和布里尔的结果有±3%的误差。将由摩擦压降估测的空泡份额与流体的实际空泡份额进行比较。精确的测量通常因为侵入性(光学探针)或非侵入性(x射线)技术的昂贵成本而受到限制,该研究集中于低成本有效精确测量空泡份额的方法。实验结果表明,空泡份额可以使用垂直截面的绝对压力传感器进行准确估测,而差压传感器引压管内气泡的存在使差压传感器的读数有一些问题。

On October 8, 2005, an earthquake of mw 7.6 shook northern Pakistan at 8：50：38 Am local time. The epicenter was located at 34°29′35″N, 73°37′44″E （USGS）, in Neelum Valley, 19 km northeast of muzaffarabad, the capital town of Pakistan-administered Kashmir. This deadliest of the Himalayan earthquakes took a toll of more than 80,000 of human lives, rendered millions homeless, and caused an estimated damage of US $ 5 billion.
