Comparison of Gatekeeping and Non-gatekeeping Designs in a Service System with Delay-sensitive Customers

This paper is motivated by a concern in China's current medical practice in which patients can bypass the primary care and seek secondary care *** employ a queueing approach to examine two settings,*** gatekeeping and non-gatekeeping settings,in a service system consisting of two types of service provider-one with basic skills(C-H),*** hospital,and the other with advanced skills(AAA-H),*** *** are heterogeneous with respect to service *** C-H can only serve customers with a complexity level of service requirement lower than the cure threshold,while the AAA-H can serve all *** aim to analyze the social planner's capacity decision for the C-H in both settings and assess the relative merit of each setting with respect to total social welfare,*** sum of customer benefits net of customer delay costs and service providers7 operating *** findings show that when the C-H's capacity is exogenous,the gatekeeper setting is preferable if the capacity of the C-H is in the intermediate range because customers'self-selection behavior gives rise to negative *** the C-H's capacity is optimized by the social planner,the non-gatekeeping setting is preferable if the capacity of the AAA-H is large or the cure threshold is high,because customers'self-selection behavior as well as the investment in the C-H's capacity can result in a better distribution of demand among the two service *** gatekeeping setting is preferable if the cure threshold is low because it is economical for the social planner to invest in a large capacity in the C-H to serve all *** also show numerically the conditions under which the two settings can achieve the first-best solution.

Block mapping spatial modulation scheme for MIMO systems

In this paper, a block mapping spatial modulation （BMSM） multiple-output （MIMO） wireless communication systems. In scheme is proposed to increase the transmit rate of multiple-input the BMSM scheme, the information to be transmitted is mapped into different combinations of transmit antenna indices and distinct constellation symbols at each time instant. Multiple transmit antennas are activated, which is different from spatial modulation （SM） and generalised spatial modulation （GSM） techniques, and also the information bits to be mapped to the digital constellation diagram exploits block mapping in the BMSM scheme. The multiplexing gain is obtained and the transmit rate is increased. The simulation results for some cases of channel states are presented which verifies the efficiency of the proposed BMSM scheme.

Enantioselective effects of imazethapyr residues on Arabidopsis thaliana metabolic profile and phyllosphere microbial communities

Imazethapyr(IM)is a widely used acetolactate synthase-inhibiting chiral *** has long-term residuals that may be absorbed by the human body through the edible parts of plants,such as vegetable leaves or ***,we selected a model plant,Arabidopsis thaliana,to determine the effects of R-IM and S-IM on its leaf structure,photosynthetic efficiency,and metabolites,as well as the structures of microorganisms in the phyllosphere,after 7 days of *** results indicated enantiomeric differences in plant growth between R-IM and S-IM;133μg/kg R-IM showed heavier inhibition of photosynthetic efficiency and greater changes to subcellular structure than S-IM.R-IM and S-IM also had different effects on metabolism and leaf microorganisms.S-IM mainly increased lipid compounds and decreased amino acids,while R-IM increased sugar *** relative abundance of Moraxellaceae human pathogenic bacteria was increased by R-IM treatment,indicating that R-IM treatment may increase leaf surface pathogenic *** research provides a new perspective for evaluating the harmfulness of pesticide residues in soil,phyllosphere microbiome changes via the regulation of plant metabolism,and induced pathogenic bacterial accumulation risks.

Eddy current measurement of the thickness of top Cu film of the multilayer interconnects in the integrated circuit （IC） manufacturing process

This paper proposes a new eddy current method, named equivalent unit method （EUM）, for the thickness measurement of the top copper film ofmultilayer interconnects in the chemical mechanical polishing （CMP） process, which is an important step in the integrated circuit （IC） manufacturing. The influence of the underneath circuit layers on the eddy current is modeled and treated as an equivalent film thickness. By subtracting this equivalent film component, the accuracy of the thickness measure- ment of the top copper layer with an eddy current sensor is improved and the absolute error is 3 nm for sampler measurement.

Fast separation of hen egg white protein with a phosphorylcholine type zwitterionic ion chromatography stationary phase

In this work, a kind of preparation method of zwitterionic ion chromatography （ZIC） stationary phase modified with phosphorylcholine （PC） was obtained by hydrolyzing after bonding phosphorylcholine dichloride to diol-silica to better explore the characteristics of the PC groups as ZIC stationary phase ligand in simultaneous separation of acidic proteins and basic proteins. The results showed that tv^o kinds of acidic proteins and three kinds of basic proteins can be separated completely, meanwhile, hen egg white was separated and purified and three kinds of egg white components ovalbumin, G2 ovoglobulin and ovotransfemin proteins were separated completely by one single step on PC-ZIC column, the purity of all proteins reached above 95%. PC-ZIC stationary phase was successfully improved with better separation capacity and selectivity than previously reported in this paper.

Racemic X-ray structure of L-type calcium channel antagonist Calciseptine prepared by total chemical synthesis

Snake toxin Calciseptine as a natural antagonist of L-type calcium channel has potential drug values, but its structural information remains unknown. Here, we report the total chemical synthesis of Calciseptine by using hydrazide based native chemical ligation. The crystal structure of Calciseptine was determined by racemic protein crystallography technique. Compared to the structure of its homologous family protein, we found that Calciseptine is adopting a typical three-finger structure.

Chemical synthesis and structural analysis of guanylate cyclase C agonist linaclotide

Guanylate cyclase C(GC-C) is an important receptor protein expressed by intestinal epithelial cells, and its dysregulation leads to severe intestinal diseases. Linaclotide is a 14-amino acid peptide approved by the FDA for the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome with constipation(IBS-C), which activates guanylate cyclase C to accelerate intestinal transit. Drug molecule design based on structural information plays a crucial role and the activity of linaclotide still need to improve, while the structure of linaclotide remains unknown. In this work, linaclotide and its D-enantiomer were obtained through Fmoc solid phase peptide synthesis method and co-crystalized through racemic crystallization. The crystal structure showed that linaclotide has a tight, three-beta turns structure immobilized by three pairs of disulfide bonds.

Brain remodeling after chronic median nerve compression in a rat model

Carpal tunnel syndrome is the most common compressive neuropathy,presenting with sensorimotor *** carpal tunnel syndrome patients,irregular afferent signals on functional magnetic resonance imaging are associated with changes in neural plasticity during peripheral nerve ***,it is difficult to obtain multi-point neuroimaging data of the brain in the *** the present study,a rat model of median nerve compression was established by median nerve ligation,i.e.,carpal tunnel syndrome *** cortex remodeling was determined by functional magnetic resonance imaging between normal rats and carpal tunnel syndrome models at 2 weeks and 2 months after *** of bilateral paws by electricity for 30 seconds,alternating with 30 seconds of rest period（repeatedly 3 times）,resulted in activation of the contralateral sensorimotor cortex in normal *** carpal tunnel syndrome rats received this stimulation,the contralateral cerebral hemisphere was markedly activated at 2 weeks after operation,including the primary motor cortex,cerebellum,and ***,this activation was not visible at 2 months after *** findings suggest that significant remodeling of the cerebral cortex appears at 2 weeks and 2 months after median nerve compression.

NES1 gene is thought to be a tumor-suppressor *** previous study found that overexpression of NES1 gene in PC3 cell line could slow down the tumor proliferation rate,associated with a mild decrease in BCL-2 *** BCL-2 decrease could increase the sensitivity of radiotherapy to ***,we supposed to have an“enhanced firepower”effect by combining overexpressed NES1 gene therapy and 131I radiation therapy uptake by overexpressed hNIS *** found a weak endogenous expression of hNIS protein in PC3 cells and demonstrated that the low expression of hNIS protein in PC3 cells might be the reason for the low iodine *** overexpressing hNIS in PC3,the radioactive iodine uptake ability was significantly *** of in vitro and in vivo tumor proliferation experiments and 18F-fluorothymidine(18F-FLT)micro-positron emission tomography/computed tomography(micro-PET/CT)imaging showed that the combined NES1 gene therapy and 131I radiation therapy mediated by overexpressed hNIS protein had the best tumor proliferative inhibition *** showed an obvious decrease of Ki-67 expression and the lowest BCL-2 *** data suggest that via inhibition of BCL-2 expression,overexpressed NES1 might enhance the effect of radiation therapy of 131I uptake in hNIS overexpressed PC3 cells.
