Effect of mixture sowing on biomass allocation in the artificially-planted pastures, Southeastern Tibetan

Artificial planting is an important measure to promote the restoration of degraded grassland and protect the ecological environment. The objectives of the current study were to investigate the allocation pattern between aboveground biomass(AGB) and belowground biomass(BGB) in different seeding types of artificially-planted pastures. We explored the variation in biomass and the relationship between above-and belowground biomass in four artificiallyplanted pastures with one species from Elymus nutans Griseb(EN, perennial), Elymus sibiricus Linn(ES, perennial), Medicago sativa Linn(MS, perennial), and Avena sativa Linn(AS, annual) and in six artificially-planted communities with mixtures of two species by seeding ratio 1:1 from the abovementioned grasses(EN + AS, MS + AS, EN + ES, MS + EN, MS + ES, AS + ES) in 2015 and 2016. The results showed that E. nutans is the most productive species with the highest biomass production among the single crops. MS + ES was the most productive group in 2015, while the group with the highest biomass production changed to AS + ES in 2016. AGB was positively correlated to BGB in the surface soil layer in the first year, but positively related to BGB in the subsoil layer in the second year. In the early stageof artificial grassland succession, plants allocated more biomass to aboveground parts, with a root to shoot(R/S) ratio of 1.98. The slope of the log-log relationship between AGB and BGB was 1.07 in 2016, which is consistent with the isometric theory. Different sowing patterns strongly affected the accumulation and allocation of biomass in artificiallyplanted grassland, E. sibiricus was the suitable plant in the alpine regions, which will be conducive to understanding vegetation restoration and plant interactions in the future.

The response of vegetation productivity to precipitation is becoming a worldwide *** reports on responses of vegetation to precipitation trends are based on the growth *** the soil freeze/thaw process,the soil water phase and heat transport change can affect root growth,especially during the thawing process in early spring.A field experiment with increased precipitation(control,increased 25%and increased 50%)was conducted to measure the effects of soil water in early spring on above-and below-ground productivity in an alpine steppe over two growing seasons from June 2017 to September *** increased 50%treatment significantly increased the soil moisture at the 10 cm depth,there was no difference in soil moisture between the increased 25%treatment and the control in the growing season,which was not consistent in the freeze/thaw *** soil moisture during the non-growing season retarded root *** precipitation in the freezing-thawing period can partially offset the difference between the control and increased precipitation plots in both above-and below-ground biomass.

Global patterns in above-ground net primary production and precipitation-use efficiency in grasslands

The above-ground net primary production(ANPP) and the precipitation-use efficiency(PUE) regulate the carbon and water cycles in grassland ecosystems, but the relationships among the ANPP, PUE and precipitation are still controversial. We selected 717 grassland sites with ANPP and mean annual precipitation(MAP) data from 40 publications to characterize the relationships ANPP–MAP and PUE–MAP across different grassland types. The MAP and ANPP showed large variations across all grassland types, ranging from 69 to 2335 mm and 4.3 to 1706 g m^(-2), respectively. The global maximum PUE ranged from 0.19 to 1.49 g m^(-2) mm^(-1) with a unimodal pattern. Analysis using the sigmoid function explained the ANPP–MAP relationship best at the global scale. The gradient of the ANPP–MAP graph was small for arid and semi-arid sites(MAP <400 mm). This study improves our understanding of the relationship between ANPP and MAP across dry grassland ecosystems. It provides new perspectives on the prediction and modeling of variations in the ANPP for different grassland types along precipitation gradients.

A Primary Study of the Subgroups of T Lymphocytes in MHV-3 Induced Chronic Viral Hepatitis

To study the contribution of T cell subsets in the pathogenesis of Murine hepatitis virus Type 3(MHV-3) induced chronic viral hepatitis in C3H/Hej mice,ninety C3H/Hej mice were chosen to individually receive 10 plaque forming units(PFU)of MHV-3 *** changes of virus titer and pathology in liver tissue were examined by standard plaque assay and by the hematoxylin/eosin(HE) staining method from 2 days post MHV-3 *** ratios of T cell subsets including CD3+CD4+CD8-,CD3+CD4-CD8+,CD3+CD4-CD8-,CD3+CD4+CD25+,CD3+CD4+CD25-and CD3+ CD4-CD25+ T lymphocyte of total T lymphocytes in blood,spleen and liver were examined at 0,2,4,6,8,10,12,15,20,25,30,40 days post MHV-3 infection by flow *** observed that the virus titer raised and showed persistent virus duplications and inflammatory changes in the livers of C3H/Hej mice from 2 days post MHV-3 *** double negative T cell(DN Treg cell) and CD4+CD25+ T cell ratios increased significantly from 2 days post MHV-3 infection in C3H/Hej mice,and CD3+CD4+CD8-,CD3+CD4-CD8+,CD3+CD4+CD25-and CD3+CD4-CD25+ T cell ratios decreased *** conclusion,the changes of virus titer and pathology in the livers of C3H/Hej mice post MHV-3 suggest their contribution to viral *** characterizations of DN Treg cells are that infection indicates that MHV-3 could induce the chronic inflammation in livers of C3H/Hej *** increase of the DN Treg cell and CD4+CD25+ T cell ratios in C3H/Hej mice post MHV-3 infection suggests that DN Treg cells and CD4+CD25+ T cells may both have important suppressive immunomodulation functions in the development of chronic viral hepatitis and have important roles in the virus persistent *** characterizations of DNT cell and CD4+CD25+ T cell are under investigation.

Erythrocytic or serum hydrogen sulfide association with hypertension development in untreated essential hypertension

Background Endogenous hydrogen sulfide （H2S） plays an important role in hypertension. The aim of this study was to investigate the role of erythrocyte and serum H2S in patients with untreated essential hypertension. Methods We recruited 62 patients （age 22-74 years） with untreated prehypertension or hypertension, and 64 normotensive subjects （age 18-64 years）. We assessed the 3-mercaptopyruvate sulphurtransferase （MPST） protein expression in erythrocytes and measured the H2S production from erythrocytes and serum H2S levels, then analyzed the association of erythrocytic or serum H2S content and blood pressure or cardiovascular risk factors （e.g., age, body mass index （BMI） and dyslipidemia）. A stepwise regression analysis was used to evaluate the possible relationship of erythrocytic H2S in hypertension. Results In hypertensive patients, erythrocyte H2S production （（111.04_＋.29.20） nmol/min per 10a erythrocytes） was higher than that in controls （（78.85＋19.38） nmol/min per 108 erythrocytes）, and serum H2S was also higher. The erythrocytic H2S production was associated with increased systolic blood pressure （sBP）, diastolic blood pressure （dBP）, age, BMI, level of C-reactive protein （CRP）, as well as triglycerides （TG） and high density lipoprotein cholesterol （HDL-C） Serum H2S was not associated with age or CRP. Stepwise regression analysis showed that erythrocytic H2S production was correlated with sBP, TG, HDL-C, low density lipoprotein cholesterol （LDL-C） and blood urea nitrogen （BUN） and serum H2S was correlated with dBP and TG. Results of receiver-operating characteristic curve analysis suggested that erythrocytic H2S production was a more sensitive predictor of hypertension development than serum H2S. Conclusion Ervthrocvtic or serum H^S Production is sensitive predictor of hvDertension.

Impact of baseline hepatitis B virus viral load on the long-term prognosis of advanced hepatocellular carcinoma treated with immunotherapy
