Berberine (BBR) is a natural compound isolated from coptis chinensis and for decades an over-the-count medicine in china for bacterial-caused diarrhea. We have identified BBR to be an effective drug in treating hyperlipidemia as well as hyperglycemia. clinical studies showed that oral administration of BBR caused significant reduction of blood cholesterol, LDL-c, triglyceride, as well as glucose and HbA1c in patients with hyperlipidemia or T2D. A small % of patients have minor and transient side- effect in the GI system. The cholesterol- lowering effect was associated with the ERK mediated LDLR mRNA up-regulation; the glucose-lowering effect mainly resulted from PKD-mediated insulin receptor expression as well as activation of AMPK. The clinical efficacy of BBR were verified by a large number of independent clinical groups in and outside china. For BBR absorption mechanism, we showed that BBR was first converted into dhBBR by nitroreductase in the gut microbiota, promoting BBR enter into intestinal well, where it was oxidized back to BBR, and then got into blood. Our recent study showed that BBR could also promote gut microbiota pathways to make ScFAs (such as butyrate), which entered blood and reduced blood lipids and glucose, suggesting a newly identified MOA of BBR. BBR is now in clinical trial in china. We consider it a multiple-target drug for metabolic disorders in clinic.

Taking extruded Al–Zn–Mg–cu alloy(7A04 alloy) bars as the research object, the effect and mechanism of pre-annealing treatments on the microstructure and mechanical properties of the aged alloy bars were investigated. The results show that a pre-annealing treatment at 350°c for 15 h before a T6 treatment substantially reduced the sensitivity of the microstructure and mechanical properties of the extruded 7A04 aluminum alloy specimens toward the extrusion temperature. The average grain sizes of the specimens extruded at 390 and 430°c after T6 treatment were 3.4 and 8.1 μm, respectively, and their elongations to failure were 7.0% and 9.2%, respectively. However, after pre-annealing + T6 treatment, the differences in both the grain sizes and the elongations of the specimens became small, i.e., their average grain sizes were 3.2 and 3.8 μm and their elongations were 12.0% and 13.3%, respectively. For the specimens extruded at the same temperature, pre-annealing treatment obviously improved the plasticity of the alloy, which is attributed to an increase in soft texture or to grain refinement in the specimens as a result of the pre-annealing + T6 treatment.

The interannual variability of wintertime snow depth over the Tibetan Plateau(TP) and related atmospheric circulation anomalies were investigated based on observed snow depth measurements and NcEP/NcAR reanalysis *** orthogonal function(EOF) analysis was applied to identify the spatio-temporal variability of wintertime TP snow *** depth anomalies were dominated by a monopole pattern over the TP and a dipole structure with opposite anomalies over the southeastern and northwestern *** atmospheric circulation conditions responsible for the interannual variability of TP snow depth were examined via regression analyses against the principal component of the most dominant EOF *** the upper troposphere,negative zonal wind anomalies over the TP with extensively positive anomalies to the south indicated that the southwestward shift of the westerly jet may favor the development of surface cyclones over the *** anomalous cyclone centered over the southeastern TP was associated with the anomalous westerly jet,which is conducive to heavier snowfall and results in positive snow depth *** anomalous cyclone was observed at 500 hPa over the TP,with an anomalous anticyclone immediately to the north,suggesting that the TP is frequently affected by surface *** analyses revealed that significant negative thickness anomalies exist around the TP from March to May,with a meridional dipole anomaly in *** persistent negative anomalies due to more winter TP snow are not conducive to earlier reversal of the meridional temperature gradient,leading to a possible delay in the onset of the Asian summer monsoon.

Removal characteristics and kinetic analysis of an aerobic vapor-phase bioreactor for hydrophobic alpha-pinene

Biofiltration is considered an effective method to control volatile organic compounds （VOcs） pollution. This study was conducted to evaluate the potential use of a bacterial biofilter packed with wood chips and peat for the removal of hydrophobic α-pinene. When inoculated with two pure degraders and adapted activated sludge, a removal efficiency （RE） of more than 95% was achieved after a start- up period of 11 days. The maximum elimination capacity （Ec） of 50 g/（m^***） with RE of 94% was obtained at empty bed retention time （EBRT） of 102 sec. When higher α-pinene concentrations and shorter EBRTs were applied, the REs and Ecs decreased significantly due to mass-transfer and biological reaction limitations. As deduced from the experimental results, approximately 74% of ct-pinene were completely mineralized by the consortiums and the biomass yield was 0.60 g biomass/g α-pinene. Sequence analysis of the selected bands excised from denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis revealed that the inoculated pure cultures could be present during the whole operation, and others were closely related to bacteria being able to degrade hydrocarbons. The kinetic results demonstrated that the whole biofiltration for α-pinene was diffusion-limit controlled owing to its hydrophobic characteristics. These findings indicated that this bacterial biofiltration is a promising technology for the remediation of hydrophobic industrial waste gases containing ct-pinene.

目的探讨18F-脱氧葡萄糖(FDG)正电子发射计算机断层扫描(PET/cT)代谢参数与鼻咽癌患者临床病理特征的关系及其对局部复发的预测价值,为临床诊治提供可靠依据。方法选取2020年1月~2022年1月于中山大学肿瘤防治中心行放疗的200例鼻咽癌患者作为研究对象,根据治疗后6个月内复发情况分为复发组(n=85)、未复发组(n=115)。比较两组临床病理特征及18F-FDG PET/cT代谢参数。分析不同参数与临床病理特征的关系及其对局部复发的预测价值。分析各参数不同表达者局部复发的危险度。结果复发组临床分期Ⅰ~Ⅱ期比例低于未复发组,淋巴结转移比例及18F-FDG PET/cT代谢参数最大标准摄取值(SUVmax)、平均标准摄取值(SUVmean)、峰值标准摄取值(SUVpeak)、病灶糖酵解总量(TLG)、肿瘤代谢体积(MTV)高于未复发组(Pc高于单项预测(PcT代谢参数SUVmax、MTV、TLG与鼻咽癌患者临床病理特征具有相关性,其与SUVpeak、SUVmean联合预测局部复发具有一定预测价值。

A thermodynamic analysis of the carbothermic reduction of high-phosphorus oolitic iron ore（HPOIO） was conducted by the Fact Sage thermochemical software. The effects of temperature, c/O ratio, additive types, and dosages both on the reduction of fluorapatite and the formation of liquid slag were studied. The results show that the minimum thermodynamic reduction temperature of fluorapatite by carbon decreases to about 850°c, which is mainly ascribed to the presence of SiO_2, Al_2O_3, and Fe. The reduction rate of fluorapatite increases and the amount of liquid slag decreases with the rise of c/O ratio. The reduction of fluorapatite is hindered by the addition of caO and Na_2cO_3, thereby allowing the selective reduction of iron oxides upon controlled c/O ratio. The thermodynamic results obtain in the present work are in good agreement with the experimental results available in the literatures.

creep behavior of γ-TiAl polysynthetically twinned (PST) crystals has been investigated at temperature between 700 and 800℃. The results show that the creep behavior of the crystals is strongly dependent on the angle between the lamellar boundaries and loading axis. The samples with the angle φ=45 deg. have the lowest creep resistance, while the samples with φ=0 deg., rather than φ=90 deg.,show the strongest creep resistance. The stress exponent and creep activation energy for the power law creep vary with the orientations of samples, which indicates that the creep mechanisms of the samples with different angle φ are quite *** deformation substructure has been examined by transmission electron microscopy (TEM),which shows that both gliding, perhaps also climbing, of dislocations and twinning contribute to the creep deformation with some particular observation in the samples with φ=90 deg. in which rotation of the γ plates across a true twin boundary was observed, which indicates the deformation mechanism of the samples is different from the samples in other orientations.
