Controllable split polarization singularities for ultra-precise displacement sensing

The topic of optical precise displacement measurement has garnered significant attention and generated widespread interest recently. The use of optical singularity offers a potential solution for this purpose, although effectively manipulating the singularity in an ideal manner remains challenging. In this work, we propose a theoretical approach to achieve controllable position modulation of the C-point in the focal plane, whose spatial position can be easily modulated by adjusting the relative offset factor β and the offset angle α of an azimuthal polarization beam(ApB), while the interval and orientation of the C-points can be flexibly regulated. Notably, the chiral polarization state undergoes a distinct reversal along the link-line connecting the two C-points, thereby providing a promising approach for accurate displacement sensing. To evaluate its sensing characteristics, the varying pattern of the scattered field intensity is monitored when sweeping a gold helix and nanoparticle along the link-line. The results of simulation quality index q verify that the equilibrium factor of the scattering field possesses an obvious linear relationship with the displacement, signifying a precise sub-nanometric *** research introduces new methods for the flexible control of polarization singularities in tightly focused fields,thereby enhancing the utilization of circular polarization properties near C-points for displacement *** findings not only enrich the field of nanometer measurement technology but also pave the way for new avenues of research in this domain.

Somatic GNA11/GNAq variants in a cohort of Chinese children with phakomatosis pigmentovascularis

Importance:postzygotic mutations in the GNAq/GNA11 genes,which encode the G-protein nucleotide binding protein alpha subunits,have been identified in patients with phakomatosis pigmentovascularis(ppV).However,little is known about the Chinese ***:To identify pathogenic mutations in pediatric patients with ppV within the Chinese ***:We performed whole-exome sequencing(WES)using skin lesion tissues from pediatric patients diagnosed with ***,ultradeep-targeted sequencing was conducted to validate the somatic mutations.A genotype-phenotype correlation was analyzed by integrating data from previous reports with the findings of the present ***:Thirteen patients were enrolled,all diagnosed with the cesioflammea type of ppV,except for one patient with an unclassifiable *** identified somatic GNA11 c.547C>T(p.R183C)variant in seven patients and GNAq c.548G>A(p.R183q)in four patients,with low allelic fractions ranging from 2.1%to 8.6%through ultradeep ***,a GNAq c.548G>A(p.R183q)variant was detected through targeted sequencing in one of two patients who did not exhibit detectable variants via *** genotype-phenotype correlation analysis,involving 15 patients with a GNA11 variant and 10 with a GNAq variant,revealed that facial capillary malformation(87%vs.50%,p=0.075)and ocular melanocytosis(80%vs.40%,p=0.087)appeared to be more frequent in patients with GNA11 mutation compared to those with GNAq *** four patients diagnosed with cesiomarmorata type or overlapping cesioflammea and cesiomarmorata type ppV carried the GNA11 ***:Our study demonstrated that the majority of ppV patients in the Chinese population carried a postzygotic variant of GNAq/GNA11,thus further confirming the pathogenic role of GNAq/GNA11 mosaicism in the development of ppV cesioflammea type.

XRL-SHAp-Cache:an explainable reinforcement learning approach for intelligent edge service caching in content delivery networks

Content delivery networks(CDNs) play a pivotal role in the modern internet infrastructure by enabling efficient content delivery across diverse geographical regions. As an essential component of CDNs, the edge caching scheme directly influences the user experience by determining the caching and eviction of content on edge servers. With the emergence of 5G technology, traditional caching schemes have faced challenges in adapting to increasingly complex and dynamic network environments. Consequently, deep reinforcement learning(DRL) offers a promising solution for intelligent zero-touch network governance. However, the blackbox nature of DRL models poses challenges in understanding and making trusting decisions. In this paper,we propose an explainable reinforcement learning(XRL)-based intelligent edge service caching approach,namely XRL-SHAp-Cache, which combines DRL with an explainable artificial intelligence(XAI) technique for cache management in CDNs. Instead of focusing solely on achieving performance gains, this study introduces a novel paradigm for providing interpretable caching strategies, thereby establishing a foundation for future transparent and trustworthy edge caching solutions. Specifically, a multi-level cache scheduling framework for CDNs was formulated theoretically, with the D3qN-based caching scheme serving as the targeted interpretable model. Subsequently, by integrating Deep-SHAp into our framework, the contribution of each state input feature to the agent's q-value output was calculated, thereby providing valuable insights into the decision-making process. Enhanced terahertz vibrational absorption spectroscopy using an integrated high-q resonator

The terahertz(THz) absorption spectrum is a powerful method to identify substances. The improvement focuses on sensitivity and recovery ability. Here, we demonstrate enhanced THz vibrational absorption spectroscopy based on an on-chip THz whispering gallery mode resonator(THz-WGMR). A THz-WGMR with high q can store energy and enhance the interaction between the THz waves and the target substances to capture the unique absorption fingerprint information. Therefore, it possesses significant sensitivity to identify trace amounts of substances. As a proof of concept, lactose powder and glucose powder are applied to demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach in recovering fingerprint absorption spectroscopy. Compared with a straight waveguide, the high sensitivity of the THz-WGMR is illustrated. The change of the transmissivity caused by the lactose reaches 7.8 d B around 532 GHz for the THz-WGMR, while only 1.4 d B for the straight waveguide, demonstrating the state-ofthe-art sensing performance in fingerprint absorption recovery. We believe the proposed integrated THz-WGMR will promote the THz identification of tiny fingerprint substances.

Universal basis underlying temperature, pressure and size induced dynamical evolution in metallic glass-forming liquids

The dramatic temperature-dependence of liquids dynamics has attracted considerable scientific interests and efforts in the past decades, but the physics of which remains elusive. In addition to temperature, some other parameters, such as pressure, loading and size, can also tune the liquid dynamics and induce glass transition, which makes the situation more complicated. Here, we performed molecular dynamics simulations for Ni_(50)Zr_(50) bulk liquid and nanodroplet to study the dynamics evolution in the complex multivariate phase space, especially along the isotherm with the change of pressure or droplet size. It is found that the short-time Debye–Waller factor universally determines the long-time relaxation dynamics no matter how the temperature, pressure or size changes. The basic correlation even holds at the local atomic scale. This finding provides general understanding of the microscopic mechanism of dynamic arrest and dynamic heterogeneity.
