A novel impedimetric biosensor was fabricated for total cholesterol sensing based on platinum nanoparticle and polypyrrole multilayer nanocomposite electrode. The Pt nanoparticles (PtNP) electrochemically deposited between two polypyrrole layers on indium tin oxide (ITO) glass plates (PtNP/PPY/ITO) have offered high-electroactive surface area and favourable microenvironment for immobilization of cholesterol esterase (ChEt) and cholesterol oxidase (ChOx) resulting in enhanced electron transfer between the enzyme system and the electrode. Impedimetric response studies of the ChEt-ChOx/PtNP/ITO nanobioelectrode exhibit improved linearity (2.5 × 10-4 to 6.5 × 10-3 M/l), low detection limit (2.5 × 10-4 M/l), fast response time (25 s), high sensitivity (196 Ω/mM/cm-2) and a low value of the Michaelis-Menten constant (Km, 0.2 M/l) with a regression coefficient of 0.997.

To the Editor,Cold agglutinin disease(CAD)is an IgM type of autoimmune disease with complement-mediated lysis of red blood cells(RBCs)usually characterized by clumping of RBCs.1 While RBC agglutination causes clinical symptoms of hemolytic anemia,agglutination caused by cold agglutinin is a notorious preanalytical and analytical factor that leads to spurious automated complete blood count results like falsely elevated mean corpuscular volume and decreased RBC count.2,3 The pathogenicity of IgM antibodies(Abs)and the peripheral smear findings are mainly determined by their thermal amplitude(TA)and clonality rather than their *** shed some light on this,the authors would like to present four cases of hemolytic anemia,which on further evaluation tested positive for polyspecific direct Coomb's test.

BACKGROUND Prediabetes is a well-established risk factor for major adverse cardiac and cerebrovascular events(MACCE).However,the relationship between prediabetes and MACCE in atrial fibrillation(AF)patients has not been extensively ***,this study aimed to establish a link between prediabetes and MACCE in AF *** To investigate a link between prediabetes and MACCE in AF *** We used the National Inpatient sample(2019)and relevant ICD-10 CM codes to identify hospitalizations with AF and categorized them into groups with and without prediabetes,excluding *** primary outcome was MACCE(all-cause inpatient mortality,cardiac arrest including ventricular fibrillation,and stroke)in AF-related *** Of the 2965875 AF-related hospitalizations for MACCE,47505(1.6%)were among patients with *** prediabetes cohort was relatively younger(median 75 vs 78 years),and often consisted of males(56.3%vs 51.4%),blacks(9.8%vs 7.9%),Hispanics(7.3%vs 4.3%),and Asians(4.7%vs 1.6%)than the non-prediabetic cohort(Ps group had significantly higher rates of hypertension,hyperlipidemia,smoking,obesity,drug abuse,prior myocardial infarction,peripheral vascular disease,and hyperthyroidism(all Ps cohort was often discharged routinely(51.1%vs 41.1%),but more frequently required home health care(23.6%vs 21.0%)and had higher *** adjusting for baseline characteristics or comorbidities,the prediabetes cohort with AF admissions showed a higher rate and significantly higher odds of MACCE compared to the non-prediabetic cohort[18.6%vs 14.7%,odds ratio(OR)1.34,95%confidence interval 1.26-1.42,Psubgroup analyses,males had a stronger association(aOR 1.43)compared to females(aOR 1.22),whereas on the race-wise comparison,Hispanics(aOR 1.43)and Asians(aOR 1.36)had a stronger association with MACCE with prediabetes vs whites(aOR 1.33)and blacks(aOR 1.21).CONCLUsION This population-

ATPase 6/8 gene （842 bp） of mitochondrial DNA was sequenced in Labeo rohita samples （n = 253） collected from nine rivers belonging to four river basins; Indus, Ganges, Brahmaputra and Mahanadi. Analysis revealed 44 haplotypes with high haplotype diversity （Hd） 0.694 and low nucleotide diversity （π） 0.001. The within population variation was larger （83.44%） than among population differences （16.56%）. The mean Fsv value （0.166; P 〈 0.05） for overall populations revealed moderate level of genetic structuring in the wild L. rohita populations. The haplotype network presented a single clade for wild L. rohita population, from different rivers. Negative values for Fu＇s index （Fs）, mismatch distribution analysis indicated period of expansion in L. rohita population. The time after recent expansion was estimated for each population, between 0.042 to 0.167 mya. The pattern of Isolation by Distance （IBD） was not significant （r = -0.113, P 〈 0.287）, when all the sampling locations were compared （Mantel test）, however, when an outlier （Indus, Brahmaputra and Mahanadi） was removed from the whole population set, a clear positive correlation between pairwise Fsv and geographic distance （Km） was seen. The analysis of data demonstrated that ATPase6/8 gene polymorphism is a potential marker to understand genetic population structure of wild L. rohita existing in different rivers. The study identified population substructure in wild L. rohita with common ancestral origin [Current Zoology 60 （4）： 460--471, 2014].

Microwave scattering for soil Texture at X-Band and Its Retrieval Using Genetic Algorithm

In the present paper, we have studied the effect of soil textures,?i.e., sand, silt and clay on microwave scattering at X-band (10 GHz) at various incidence angles and like polarizations (i.e., Horizontal-Horizontal;HH-, Vertical-Vertical;VV-). We have proposed a retrieval technique based on Genetic Algorithm (GA) to retrieve soil texture. For this purpose, ten types of soil mixtures having different percentage of sand, silt and clay have been analyzed. The observations were carried out by ingeniously assembled X-band scatterometer. A good agreement has been noticed between estimated and observed soil texture. study infers that soil texture is quite sensitive to radar scattering and it is possible to retrieve soil texture with radar/scatterometer data with good accuracy and this type of retrieved results can be helpful to predict soil strength as well as soil erosion of the particular area.
