In this manuscript, we are reporting structural, bonding, optical, dielectric, and electrical properties of Gd-doped ZnO composite samples (Zn1−xGdxO, x = 0, 0.05, 0.10) prepared by solid-state reaction method. XRD spectra confirm the wurtzite hexagonal phase with a grain size distribution of 42 - 47 nm. The FT-IR spectra confirm bonding behavior like Zn-O, O=c=O, and O-H stretching modes. FESEM micrographs show that the grains of crystallites possess nearly spherical morphology. Optical absorption spectra confirm that the optical band gap decreases systematically from 3.19 eV to 3.15 eV for x = 0.0 to x = 0.10 samples. For all samples, PL spectra exhibited near-band emission, blue emission, and green emission peaks. The dielectric constant decreases as the applied frequency increases. Hall effect results show that with increasing doping concentration of Gd, mobility and resistivity increase while bulk concentration decreases. current-Voltage study shows that current increases when temperature is increased. Rare earth-doped ZnO is potential material used for optoelectronics and spintronics device applications. Properties of Gd-doped ZnO are studied by various research groups, but dielectric studies are limitedly reported. Therefore, the present research work aims to study the change of electrical, optical, and dielectric properties of Gd-doped ZnO for device applications.

The application of extracellular vesicles,particularly exosomes(EXs),is rapidly expanding in the field of medicine,owing to their remarkable properties as natural carriers of biological *** study investigates utilization of exosomes derived from stromal cells of tumor adjacent normal tissues(NAF-EXs)for personalized medicine,which can be derived at the time of diagnosis by endoscopic ***,we show that exosomes(EXs)derived from NAFs demonstrate differential bio-physical characteristics,efficient cellular internalization,drug loading efficiency,pancreatic tumor targeting and delivery of ***-derived EXs(NAF-EXs)were used for loading ormeloxifene(ORM),a potent anti-cancer and desmoplasia inhibitor as a model *** found that ORM maintains normal fibroblast cell phenotype and renders them incompatible to be triggered for a cAF-like phenotype,which may be due to regulation of ca^(2+) influx in fibroblast ***-EXs-ORM effectively blocked oncogenic signaling pathways involved in desmoplasia and epithelial mesenchymal transition(EMT)and repressed tumor growth in xenograft mouse *** conclusion,our data suggests preferential tropism of NAF-EXs for PDAc tumors,thus imply feasibility of developing a novel personalized medicine for PDAc patients using autologous NAF-EXs for improved therapeutic outcome of anti-cancer ***,it provides the opportunity of utilizing this biological scaffold for effective therapeutics in combination with standard therapeutic regimen.

In this study we are reporting annealing induced optical properties of bismuth ferrite (BiFeO3) thin films deposited on glass substrate via spin coating at 5000 rpm. The structural, optical and surface morphology of BiFeO3 (BFO) thin films have been studied via X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), Optical absorption (UV-Vis) and Photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy. XRD spectra confirm annealing induced phase formation of BiFeO3 possessing a rhombohedral R3c structure. The films are dense and without cracks, although the presence of porosity in BFO/glass was observed. Moreover, optical absorption spectra indicate annealing induced effect on the energy band structure in comparison to pristine BiFeO3. It is observed that annealing effect shows an intense shift in the UV-Vis spectra as diffuse absorption together with the variation in the optical band gap. The evaluated optical band gap values are approximately equal to the bulk band gap value of BiFeO3.

Recent research findings indicate that the non-monotonic consumption of energy from lithium-ion(Li-ion)batteries results in a higher heat generation in electrical energy storage *** peak demands,a higher heat generation due to high discharging current increases the temperature from 80℃ to 120℃,thereby resulting in thermal *** address peak demands,an additional electrical energy storage component,namely supercapacitor(Sc),is being investigated by various research *** paper provides insights into the capability of Scs in lightweight electric vehicles(EVs)to address peak demands using the worldwide harmonized light-duty driving test cycle(WLTc)driving profile in MATLAB/Simulink at different ambient *** results indicate that temperature imposes a more prominent effect on Li-ion batteries compared with Scs under peak demand *** effect of the discharging rate limit on the Li-ion battery current is *** result shows that Scs can accommodate the peak demands for a low discharging current limit on the battery,thereby reducing heat *** impedance spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry are performed on Scs to analyze their thermal performance at different temperatures ranging from 0℃ to 75℃ under different bias values of-0.6,0,0.6,and 1 V,*** results indicate a higher specific capacitance of the Sc at an optimum operation temperature of 25℃ for the studied *** study shows that the hybrid combination of the Li-ion battery and Sc for a lightweight EV can address peak demands by reducing thermal stress on the Li-ion battery and increasing the driving range.

Objective:To investigate the effect of Ocimum sanctum hydroalcoholic extract(OSHE)on seizure control and neuronal injury in rats with lithium-pilocarpine-induced status epilepticus(SE).Methods:SE was induced by administering lithium chloride followed by pilocarpine 24 h *** was administered either alone or in combination with valproate(VPA)3 days before SE induction until 14 days post-SE *** parameters were recorded on day 1(0-3 h),day 1-3 and day 4-14 *** day 14 post-SE,neurobehavioural tests(elevated plus maze and passive avoidance)were done followed by total antioxidant capacity,neuron-specific enolase,immunohistochemistry,and electron microscopic assessment in the hippocampus and cortex ***:OSHE+VPA provided more significant seizure protection(75%)than VPA(62.5%),OSHE(62.5%),or SE control(12.5%)(overall P=0.003).The latency to stage-3/4 seizures was increased and the number of stage-3/4 seizures was reduced in all treatment groups compared to the SE control group(P=0.002 andctively).The OSHE+VPA group also had better memory retention than other treatment groups(Pce *** antioxidant capacity level was significantly higher and neuron-specific enolase was lower in the OSHE and OSHE+VPA groups compared to the SE control *** microscopic study showed significant myelin sheath damage(67.5%,Pcampus of the SE control group,which were alleviated by OSHE or OSHE+VPA *** immunohistochemical analysis,the OSHE,OSHE+VPA,and VPA groups had a significantly higher number of viable neurons and less neuronal loss compared to the SE control in the hippocampus(Pconclusions:OSHE either alone or in combination with VPA shows better seizure control by preservation of neuronal echotexture and reducing oxidative stress in the hippocampus.

Lysosomal storage disorders(LSD)are a rare group of genetic *** major LSDs that cause liver dysfunction are disorders of sphingolipid lipid storage[Gaucher disease(GD)and Niemann-Pick disease]and lysosomal acid lipase deficiency[cholesteryl ester storage disease and Wolman disease(WD)].These diseases can cause significant liver problems ranging from asymptomatic hepatomegaly to cirrhosis and portal *** storage cells initiate hepatic fibrosis in sphingolipid *** causes micronodular cirrhosis in lipid storage *** disorders must be keenly differentiated from other chronic liver diseases and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis that affect children and young ***,Niemann-Pick type c,and WD also cause neonatal cholestasis and infantile liver *** and liver phenotype correlation is variable in these *** with LSD may survive up to 4-5 decades except for those with neonatal onset *** diagnosis of all LSD is based on enzymatic activity,tissue histology,and genetic *** replacement is possible in GD and Niemann-Pick types A and B though there are major limitations in the *** that progress invariably require liver transplantation with variable *** prognosis of Niemann-Pick type c and WD is universally *** replacement therapy has a promising role in cholesteryl ester storage *** review attempts to outline the natural history of these disorders from a hepatologist’s perspective to increase awareness and facilitate better management of these rare disorders.

concerns for biodiversity loss, wildlife conservation, and habitat destruction have dominated the policy agenda worldwide for decades. Unsustainable human-induced development and negative interaction between humans and wildlife have emerged as predominant issues globally. The present study deals with human and elephant conflicts (HEc) in the Polpitigama Divisional Secretariat, Sri Lanka, which is located in the Kahalla-Pallekele elephant corridor and connects Wilpattu and Kaudulla wildlife sanctuaries. The research objectives are identifying spatial patterns of elephant habitat suitability and probable risk zones for HEc. The elephant habitat suitability and HEc risk zones were identified on spatial and temporal scales using Geographic Information System integrating Multi-criteria Decision Analysis. Different factors, including habitat suitability, distance to roads, distance to croplands, distance to forests and protected areas, settlements, and population density, were considered to determine HEc risk zones in the area. Topography, water, and vegetation criteria are considered when determining elephant habitat suitability. The results of the Analytic Hierarchy Process run the spatially explicit model. The results revealed that of the total area, 15.3% is very highly suitable for elephant habitats, while the least suitable areas contribute only 4%. About 33.8% of the area is moderately suitable for elephants. The risk map indicates that 23.7% of the total area is under very high risk for HEc, and the least risk areas only account for 5.4%. About 26.2% of the area falls under the moderate risk zone for HEc. Since the model considered three aspects of HEc, it will help policymakers in wildlife conservation to avoid and minimize the HEc.

Variceal bleeding is a serious complication of cirrhosis and portal *** the improvement in management of acute variceal bleed(AVB),it still carries significant *** pressure is the main driver of variceal bleeding and also a main predictor of *** in portal pressure has been the mainstay of management of variceal *** intrahepatic porto-systemic stent shunt(TIPSS)is a very effective modality in reducing the portal hypertension and thereby,controlling portal hypertensive ***,its use in refractory bleeding(rescue/salvage TIPSS)is still associated with high mortality.“Early”use of TIPSS as a“pre-emptive strategy”in patients with AVB at high risk of failure of treatment has shown to be superior to standard treatment in several *** patients with child c cirrhosis(up to 13 points)clearly benefit from early-TIPSS strategy,it’s role in less severe liver disease(child B)and more severe disease(child c>13 points)remains less ***,standard of care has improved in the last decade leading to improved 1-year survival in high-risk patients with AVB as compared to earlier“early”TIPSS *** in the real world,only a minority of patients with AVB fulfil the stringent criteria for early ***,there is unmet need to explore role of early TIPSS in management of AVB in well-designed prospective studies. In this review, we have appraised the role of early TIPSS, patient selection anddiscussed future directions in the management of patients with AVB.
