A New Classification of Path-Delay Fault Testability in Terms of Stuck-at Faults

A new classification of path-delay fault testability in a combinational circuit is presented in terms of testability of stuck-at faults in an equivalent circuit. Earlier results describing correlation of path-delay and stuck-at faults are either incomplete, or use a complex model of equivalent circuit based on timing parameters. It is shown here that a path-delay fault (rising or falling) is testable if and only if certain single or multiple stuck-at fault in the equivalent circuit is testable. Thus, all aspects of path-delay faults related to testability under various classification schemes can be interpreted using the stuck-at fault model alone. The results unify most of the existing concepts and provide a better understanding of path-delay faults in logic circuits. The backward bifurcation of a model for malaria infection

In this paper, an epidemic model of a vector-borne disease, namely, malaria, is consi- dered. The explicit expression of the basic reproduction number is obtained, the local and global asymptotical stability of the disease-free equilibrium is proved under certain conditions. It is shown that the model exhibits the phenomenon of backward bifurcation where the stable disease-free equilibrium coexists with a stable endemic equilibrium. Further, it is proved that the unique endemic equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable under certain conditions.

Dedifferentiated liposarcoma is a variant of liposarcoma with a more aggressive course. It occurs most commonly in the retroperitoneum and rarely in other anatomic locations. In the present report, we describe a case of dedifferentiated liposarcoma that occurred in an unusual location, sigmoid mesocolon, which has not yet been documented.

Effect of weathering on physico-chemical properties and combustion behavior of an Indian thermal coal

An open air stockpile of conical shape was formed with 3.5 m base diameter and 5 m height using 500 tons of -200 mm size ROM thermal coal on a concrete floor. Coal sample from the stockpile were collected at 30 days interval for analysis of various chemical properties like;proximate analysis, ultimate analysis, gross calorific value (GCV) and various combustion related properties such as ignition temperature, peak temperature, burnout temperature, maximum combustion rate, ignition index, burnout index, combustion performance index and combustion rate intensity index. Experimental results show that, due to weathering of coal fixed carbon decreased from 35.6% to 19.9%, elemental carb on (C) decreased from 46.6% to 28.6%, hydrogen (H) decreased from 3.3% to 2.9% and GCV decreased by up to 55% of original value during 330 days of storage of coal in an open atmosphere. Ash con tent of coal increased form 29.2% to 46.6% due to loss of combustibles. Sulfur (S) of coal was found to get increased from 0.33% to 1.08% during storage. The activation energy of coal combustion increased from 22 kJ/mol to 54 kJ/mol. Variation in combustion parameters signifies that weathering has significant negative impact on coal combustion properties as coal become difficult to ignite.

Performance characterization of Bi_2O_3/Al nanoenergetics blasted micro-forming system

This paper reports a novel micro-blast driven manufacturing process for micro-forming of Aluminum foils. The micro-blast is realized by using a nanoenergetic material system comprising of Bi_2O_3 microrods and aluminum particles. There is an enhanced need of forming of thin aluminum foil structures in small regions from point of view of drug packaging etc. The process developed caters to this need by using a single shot forming process using a micro-blast source. The micro-blast that is generated from an energetic composite system is made highly tunable by modulating the peak pressure generated through the blasting process and their impact in micro-forming of thin aluminum foils is observed through parametric studies. The engineering challenge involved in these experiments is to tune the blast pressure properties in order to address the forming of thin metal sheets with limiting boundary values as defined by the failure criteria. A variety of characterization techniques related to a thorough analysis of the synthesized material viz. X-ray diffraction(XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy(SEM) etc, are used to tune the functional properties like gauge blast pressure etc, of material system. We have found a material system that can generate a maximum peak pressure of 73.8 MPa with pressurization rate of 2460 GPas^(-1) and that is able to accomplish micro-forming on thin metal foils(around 0.3 mm thickness). Experimental investigations demonstrate that tunabilty aspect of the energetic composites when exercised can enable variant processes such as embossing, coining, drilling etc. which may be of significant utility to drug packaging industries. A proper mathematical modeling of the forming process and critical process parameters therein have also been detailed.

Cyanide Intoxication in Mice Through Different Routes and its Prophylaxis by α-Ketoglutarate

Antagonising effects of α-ketoglutarate (α-KG) could be attributed to complexing of the reactive nucleophile (CN-) to form cyanohydrin in cyanide intoxication. However, an enormous protection obtained could not be delineated on account of possible in situ binding of α-KG given intraperitoneally (i.p.) in mice to cyanide administered through the same route. The present study was designed to see the efficacy of a-KG alone or in combination with sodium nitrite (SN) and/or sodium thiosulfate (STS) in male mice exposed to cyanide administered through subcutaneous (s.c.) or inhalation route. A technique for generation of hydrogen cyanide (HCN) is also discussed. On the basis of protection index (PI), defined here as the LD50 of cyanide in protected mice/LD50 of cyanide in unprotected mice and survival time, STS + α-KG regimen was equipotent to the conventional SN + STS regimen. This is further substantiated by effect of α-KG in reducing plasma cyanide levels. The efficacy of α-KG remains undeterred irrespective of the route of cyanide intoxication, while the magnitude of protection varies.

A regional profile of AChE activity was noted in the Indian termite queen Odontotermes redemanni with the head recording the higher and body the lower range of *** enzyme characteristics such as substrate and temperature optima were more or less similar while pH requirement for optimum AChE activity varied from 7.0 to 7.6 In vitro inhibition of head and body AChE was studied using pure and commercial anticholinesterase ***,the commercial formulations like Metacid-50 and Carbaryl are potent enough at 1×10^(-8)M to produce 50%in vitro inhibition of AChE of head and body regions within 15 min of preincubation.A 20 min of preincubation(t0.5)was necessary to record 50%in vitro inhibition of AChE with known and pure anticholinesterase compounds such as DFP(3.5×10^(-10)M)and physostigmine(3.6×10^(-10)M).It is surmised that(a)the response of the head and body AChE to the commercial formulations of the insecticides may be used as a reliable and sensitive bioindicator of pesticidal contamination of the terrestrial environment and(b)termite control may be successfully done with the application of organophosphate or carbamate compounds.

Brewing and biochemical characterization of Camellia japonica petal wine with comprehensive discussion on metabolomics

A novel wine has been developed from Camellia japonica’s petal by fermenting the decoction with Saccharomyces cerevisiae or brewer’s yeast. pH, brix, specific gravity and alcohol percentage were tested to study the physicochemical properties of the wine. Qualitative tests indicated presence of phenols such as flavonoids, coumarins;protein;glyco-sides;glycerin;terpenoids;steroids;and fatty acids in the wine. Total phenol content was found high in the decoction and in its fermented form as well. In vitro biological activities such as antioxidant activity, antidiabetic activity and lipid peroxidation inhibition power were assessed in samples. Furthermore, GC-MS analysis helped to detect volatiles present in the unfermented decoction and understand the effect of fermentation on its changing metabolome while column chromatography assisted the separation of solvent-based fractions. Notable outcomes from this study were detection of bioactive compound quinic acid in the decoction and a proposed pathway of its metabolic breakdown after fermentation. Results of this research revealed biochemical and physicochemical acceptability of this wine prepared from an underutilized flower.
