Studies in recent years have shown that aquatic pollution by microplastics(Mps)can be considered to pose additional stress to amphibian ***,our knowledge of how Mps affect amphibians is very rudimentary,and even more limited is our understanding of their effects in combination with other emerging ***,we aimed to evaluate the possible toxicity of polyethylene Mps(pE-Mps)(alone or in combination with a mix of pollutants)on the health of physalaemus cuvieri *** 30 days of exposure,multiple biomarkers were measured,including morphological,biometric,and developmental indices,behavioral parameters,mutagenicity,cytotoxicity,antioxidant and cholinesterase responses,as well as the uptake and accumulation of pE-Mps in *** on the results,there was no significant change in any of the parameters measured in tadpoles exposed to treatments,but induced stress was observed in tadpoles exposed to pE-Mps combined with themixture of pollutants,reflecting significant changes in physiological and biochemical *** principal component analysis(pCA)and integrated biomarker response(IBR)assessment,effects induced by pollutants in each test group were distinguished,confirming that the exposure of *** tadpoles to the pE-Mps in combination with a mix of emerging pollutants induces an enhanced stress response,although the uptake and accumulation of pE-Mps in these animalswas ***,our study provides newinsight into the danger to amphibians of Mps coexisting with other pollutants in aquatic environments.

Quinoa (Chenopodium quinoa Willd.) is a staple food produced mainly by small-scale subsistence farmers in peru’s highland. Dry seeds (cv. pasankalla) were irradiated with doses of 150 Gy, 250 Gy and 350 Gy. In the M1 generation, the germination process was delayed with increasing radiation dose;seedling height, root length and leaf development were most reduced at 250 Gy and at 350 Gy, no plants survived. In M2, the maximum spectrum of chlorophyll mutations corresponded to 150 Gy and the maximum frequency to 250 Gy. The chlorine mutation was predominant, followed by xantha. Changes were registered for branch number, pedicel length, plant height, life-cycle duration, stem and foliage colour, and leaf morphology at the two doses, with improvements in plant type. More than one mutation per plant was found, especially at 250 Gy. In M3, the same spectrum of mutations was observed, along with a valuable change in grain colour.

This paper studied the transmission coefficient and escape frequencies in a system of planar dielectric layers where the refractive index changes from one layer to another through a Gaussian function. The wave equation with normal incidence is analyzed. For the calculations, the transfer matrix formalism is used. In a previous work, the transmission and escape problem for Gaussian electronic superlattices is investigated. Now it studied the electromagnetic modes for a system formed by layers where the refractive index of the structure is modulated by a Gaussian function. The system presents transparency bands of transmission and gaps without transmission. The escape frequencies are situated near these transparency bands but they do not coincide with them. is the frequency (mode) and Γdescribes the width of the states. For these systems, the escape states are very wide. A non Gaussian system presents resonance peaks in the transmission and the escape states are narrow. The formation of transparency bands in the transmission for a Gaussian system is attributed to the widening of the escape states.

Aims Invasive plants modify the structure and functioning of natural en-vironments and threat native plant *** species are often favored by human interference such as the creation of arti-ficial forest *** removal experiments may clarify if invasive plants are detrimental to native plant regeneration and how this is related to other local *** assessed the joint effect of envir-onment and competition with the invasive Tradescantia zebrina on tree species recruitment in an Atlantic Forest *** We carried out the experimental study in the Iguaçu National park,located in southern Brazil,using 30 plots distributed across five invaded sites during 6 *** counted *** leaves and recorded the abundance and height of tree recruits over time under contrasting environmental(forest edge *** interior)and removal(all aboveground biomass,only *** removal,and control)*** analyzed the effects of environment and re-moval treatment using generalized linear mixed *** Findings The invasive species performed better at the forest edge than in the *** higher competitive pressure of *** led to higher mortality and lower height of tree *** removal favored tree recruitment,especially in the forest *** study shows that *** hampers woody species regeneration in tropical Atlantic Forests,especially at the forest edge.

The focus of the study is to measure the level of awareness of Indigenous people on Climate Variation. It inquired into their observations and organizing strategy to cope with the early impacts of climate change on their socio-economic and cultural beliefs. The organization’s adaptation and mitigation practices to protect the environment are also discussed using as basis of analysis the multi-stakeholders framework of forest protection. The study documented and recognized the Indigenous peoples contributions to the preservation and protection of forest resources in Caraballo mountain and a shift in paradigm to Indigenous people’s centered forest resources management is recommended.

以玉米自交系R15(抗)×478(感)的F2分离群体(229个单株)为作图群体,构建了包含146个SSR标记位点的遗传连锁图谱,覆盖玉米基因组1666 cM,平均图距11.4 cM.通过麦粒嵌入法对229个F2∶4家系进行人工接种纹枯病菌,并采用相对病斑高(绝对病斑高除以穗位高)划分病级标准进行玉米纹枯病的抗性鉴定.应用复合区间作图法分析抗病QTL(数量性状基因座位)及遗传效应.结果共检测到6个抗性QTL,分别位于第2、6、10染色体上,与标记Umc2110、Bnlg1606、Umc2110、Bnlg1538、Umc1257和phi054连锁,各自可解释表型变异的10.35%、4.09%、8.33%、 5.18%、5.12%和4.18%.这些抗性QTL与控制株高和穗位高的基因之间表现为独立遗传.

Fluidized bed superheated steam drying is one of the technologies successfully applied to drying pulp in the sugar beet industry. It has the technological advantages of energy efficiency and safety (inert environment) required for use in drying bagasse. A comparison of the particle size distribution of bagasse and beet pulp was evaluated in terms of fluidization. The size distribution of bagasse particles is from 2 to 10 times broader than the equivalent distribution of beet pulp particles. The mean particle size of the bagasse is 1/3 of the mean size of the beet pulp. Fluidization tests proved that bagasse fluidization is possible. It was found that beet pulp and bagasse particles clearly differ on shape and size distribution which in turn will affect the design of the ancillary equipment and the fluidization systems if sugarcane bagasse is to be dried using superheated steam technology.

ANN （artificial neural network） is a technique successfully employed in many applications on several research fields. An appropriate configuration for neural networks is a tedious task, and it often requires the knowledge of an expert on the application. In this paper, a technique for automatic configuration for two types of neural networks is presented. The multilayer perceptron and recurrent Elman are the neural networks used here. The determination of optimal parameters for the neural network is formulated as an optimization problem, solved with the use of meta-heuristic MpCA （multiple particle collision algorithm）. The self-configuring networks are applied to perform data assimilation.

AIM: To investigate factors associated with gastric cancer (GC) in the Mexican population using a validated questionnaire. METHODS: We designed and validated in Spanish a Questionnaire to Find Factors Associated with Diseases of the Digestive Tract using GC as a model. A cross-sectional study using 49 subjects, with confirmed histopathological GC diagnosis, and 162 individuals without GC participated. Odds ratio and 95% CIs were estimated in univariate and multivariate analysis adjusted for possible confounding factors. In order to match age groups, a multivariate sub-analysis was performed in subjects ≥ 39 years of age and in females and males separately. RESULTS: In the univariate analysis, we found an association between GC and education to primary level or below, low socioeconomic status, the use of dental prostheses, omission of breakfast, consumption of very hot food and drink, addition of salt to prepared foods, consumption of salt-preserved foods and the pattern of alcohol consumption. We found protection against GC associated with the use of mouthwash, food refrigeration and regular consumption of fruit and vegetables. In the multivariate sub-analysis with subjects of ≥ 39 years, the omission of breakfast was identified as a risk factor for GC. CONCLUSION: Our study suggests an association between the omission of breakfast and the failure to refrigerate food with GC in the Mexican population.
