The adsorption capacities for the removal of hexavalent chromium from aqueous solutions by six carbon nanomaterials have been evaluated. Single-walled and multi-walled carbon nanotubes as received and after oxidation treatment, graphene oxide and reduced graphene oxide are the materials with different dimension and functionalization compared in this research. Carbon nanotubes have been modified using hydrogen peroxide as oxidizing agent under microwave radiation. The oxidation treatment on carbon nanotubes has a positive effect increasing the adsorbent–adsorbate interaction. Rate-controlling mechanisms and equilibrium data are analyzed using non-linear models. Non-linear method is proposed as the most suitable method for determining the kinetic and equilibrium parameters. The values of adsorption energy(E) obtained from the Dubinin–Radushkevich isotherm,have been found around 0.371 and 0.870 k J·mol-1, indicating physical adsorption. Therefore, the pseudo-second order model represents better the kinetic experimental data. The results show that the Langmuir isotherm provides a slightly better fit to the experimental data compared with the Freundlich isotherm, indicating homogeneous distribution of active sites on carbon nanomaterials and monolayer adsorption. The separation factors RLare found in the range of 0–1, suggesting that the adsorption process is suitable for all adsorbents. The mechanisms for hexavalent chromium removal have been proposed as electrostatic interactions and hydrogen bonding.

Assessment of liver fibrosis in chronic hepatitis C virus(HCV)infection is considered a relevant part of patient care and key for decision *** liver biopsy has been considered the gold standard for staging liver fibrosis,it is an invasive technique and subject to sampling errors and significant intra-and inter-observer *** the last decade,several noninvasive markers were proposed for liver fibrosis diagnosis in chronic HCV infection,with variable *** the clear advantage of being noninvasive,a more objective interpretation of test results may overcome the mentioned intra-and inter-observer variability of liver *** addition,these tests can theoretically offer a more accurate view of fibrogenic events occurring in the entire liver with the advantage of providing frequent fibrosis evaluation without additional ***,in general,these tests show low accuracy in discriminating between intermediate stages of fibrosis and may be influenced by several hepatic and extrahepatic *** methods are either serum markers(usually combined in a mathematical model)or imaging modalities that can be used separately or combined in algorithms to improve *** this review we will discuss the different noninvasive methods that are currently available for the evaluation of liver fibrosis in chronic hepatitis C,their advantages,limitations and application in clinical practice.

In this work,three cytosine derived nitrogen doped carbonaceous materials(noble carbons,NCs)with different atomic C/N ratios and porous networks have been synthesized and used as supports for pt Ru electrocatalysts in the ethanol oxidation reaction(EOR)for clean hydrogen ***,the metal phase and the carbon support play critical roles in the electrocatalysts final *** Nps size distribution was obtained over supports with low atomic C/N ratios(i.e.,4 and 6)and defined porosity(i.e.,1701 m^(2)g^(-1)for pt Ru/CNZ and 1834 m^(2)g^(-1)for pt Ru/CLZ,respectively).In contrast,a lower C/N ratio and poor porous network(i.e.,65 m^(2)g^(-1),pt Ru/CLK)led to the largest particle size and fostered an increase of the alloying degree between pt and Ru Nps(i.e.,3%for C/N~6 and 28%for C/N~3).Electrochemical active surface area was found to increase with decreasing Nps size and the alloy extent,due to a higher availability of pt active *** degradation tests showed that pt Ru/NCs outperform similar to pt Ru Nps on commercial carbon pointing at the stabilizing effect of *** Ru/CNZ exhibited the best electrochemical performance(i.e.,69.1 m A mgpt-1),outperforming pt Ru/CLZ and pt Ru/CLK by3-and 9-fold,respectively,due to a suitable compromise between particle sizes,degree of alloy,textural properties and elemental *** anodes were scaled-up to a proton exchange membrane cell and pt Ru/CNZ was proved to provide the best electrocatalytic activity(262 m A cm^(-2)and low energy requirements),matching the values obtained by the state of the art of EOR electrocatalysts.

Artificial intelligence(AI),a branch of machine learning(ML)has been increasingly employed in the research of trauma in various *** is the most common cause of trauma-related *** better elucidate the current role of AI and contribute to future development of ML in trauma care,we conducted a review focused on the use of ML in the diagnosis or treatment strategy of traumatic hemorrhage.A literature search was carried out on pubMed and Google *** and abstracts were screened and,if deemed appropriate,the full articles were *** included 89 studies in the *** studies could be grouped into five areas:(1)prediction of outcomes;(2)risk assessment and injury severity for triage;(3)prediction of transfusions;(4)detection of hemorrhage;and(5)prediction of *** analysis of ML in comparison with current standards for trauma care showed that most studies demonstrated the benefits of ML ***,most studies were retrospective,focused on prediction of mortality,and development of patient outcome scoring *** studies performed model assessment via test datasets obtained from different *** models for transfusions and coagulopathy have been developed,but none is in widespread ***-enabled ML-driven technology is becoming integral part of the whole course of trauma *** and application of ML algorithms using different datasets from initial training,testing and validation in prospective and randomized controlled trials are warranted for provision of decision support for individualized patient care as far forward as possible.
