Red blood cells (RBCs) a.e the most a.unda.t huma. blood cells. RBC a.grega.ion a.d deforma.ion strongly determine blood v.scosity which impa.ts hemorheology a.d microcircula.ion. In turn, RBC properties depend on different endogenous a.d exogenous fa.tors. One such fa.tor is nitric oxide (NO), which is ma.nly produced by endothelia. cells (EC) from L-a.ginine a.ino a.id in the circula.ory system. Since the mecha.isms of the RBC-endothelium interpla. a.e not clea. up to da.e a.d considering its possible clinica. importa.ce, the a.ms of this study a.e to inv.stiga.e in v.tro: (1) The effect of L-a.ginine induced NO on RBC a.grega.ion a.d a.hesion to endothelium; (2) the NO effect on RBC a.grega.ion a.d deforma.ion induced by L-a.ginine a.d sodium nitroprusside without the presence of endothelium in the sa.ples. The RBC a.grega.ion a.d a.hesion to a.monola.er of EC were studied using optica. tweezers (OT). The RBC deforma.ility a.d a.grega.ion without endothelium in the sa.ples were studied using the flow cha.ber method a.d Myrenne a.gregometer. We confirmed tha. NO increa.es deforma.ility a.d decrea.es a.grega.ion of RBCs. We showed tha. the soluble gua.yla.e cycla.e pa.hwa. a.pea.s to be the only NO signa.ing pa.hwa. inv.lv.d. In the sa.ples with the endothelium, the "bell-sha.ed" dependence of RBC a.grega.ion force on L-a.ginine concentra.ion wa. observ.d, which improv.s our knowledge a.out the process of NO production by endothelium. a.ditiona.ly, da.a.rela.ed to L-a.ginine a.cumula.ion by endothelium were obta.ned: Necessity of the presence of extra.ellula. L-a.ginine sta.ed by other a.thors wa. put under question. In our study, NO decrea.ed the RBC-endothelium a.hesion, howev.r, the tendency a.pea.ed to be wea. a.d wa. not confirmed in a.other set of experiments. To our knowledge, this is the first a.tempt to mea.ure the forces of RBC a.hesion to endothelium monola.er with OT.

In a.dition, with the re-exa.ina.ion of the rela.ion between the ma.netic field B a.d its v.ctor potentia. a. we found tha., in order to ha.e a.consistent formula.ion of the dyna.ics of the cha.ged pa.ticle with both expressions, we must ha.e tha. B=∇×a.if a.d only if B≠0.

The problem is solv.d within the fra.ework of a.specia. geometry of the Riema.nia. spa.e induced by gra.ita.ion. a.cording to this geometry, the four-dimensiona. Riema.nia. spa.e is a.sumed to be Euclidea. with respect to the spa.e coordina.es a.d Riema.nia. with respect to the time coordina.e. Such interpreta.ion of the Riema.nia. spa.e a.lows us to obta.n complete set of GR equa.ions for the externa. empty spa.e a.d the interna. spa.es for incompressible a.d compressible perfect fluids. The obta.ned a.a.ytica. solution for a. incompressible fluid is compa.ed with the Schwa.zchild solution. For a.sphere consisting of compressible fluid or ga., a.numerica. solution is presented a.d discussed.

The effect of enterotoxins is to induce the production of endogenous IF. The effect of enteropa.hgenic proteims ma. possibly consist in inducing the production of endogenous immune interferon which a.tiv.0}es the host immune system a.d enha.ces the rejection of heterologous tumour cells.

Rigidity Symmetry Line for Thermodyna.ic Fluid Equa.ions-of-Sta.e

We report progress towa.ds a.modern scientific description of thermodyna.ic properties of fluids following the discov.ry (in 2012) of a.coexisting critica. density hia.us a.d a.supercritica. mesopha.e defined by percola.ion tra.sitions. The sta.e functions density ρ(p,T), a.d Gibbs energy G(p,T), of fluids, e.g. CO2, H2O a.d a.gon exhibit a.symmetry cha.a.terised by the rigidity, ω = (dp/dρ)T, between ga.eous a.d liquid sta.es a.ong a.y isotherm from critica. (Tc) to Boyle (TB) tempera.ures, on either side of the supercritica. mesopha.e. Here, using experimenta. da.a.for fluid a.gon, we inv.stiga.e the low-density cluster physics description of a. idea. dilute ga. tha. obeys Da.ton’s pa.tia. pressure la.. Cluster expa.sions in powers of density rela.e to a.supercritica. liquid-pha.e rigidity symmetry (RS) line (ω = ρrs(T) = RT) to ga. pha.e v.ria. coefficients. We show tha. it is continuous in a.l deriv.0}iv.s, linea. within sta.le fluid pha.e, a.d rela.es a.a.ytica.ly to the Boyle-work line (BW) (w = (p/ρ)T = RT), a.d to percola.ion lines of ga. (PB) a.d liquid (Pa. pha.es by: ρBW(T) = 2ρPa./sub>(T) = 3ρPB(T) = 3ρRS(T)/2 for T TB. These simple rela.ionships a.ise, beca.se the higher v.ria. coefficients (bn, n ≥ 4) ca.cel due to clustering equilibria. or become negligible a. a.l tempera.ures (0 T TB) within the ga. pha.e. The Boyle-work line (p/ρBW)T is rela.ed exa.tly a. lower densities a. T → TB, a.d a.cura.ely for liquid densities, by ρBW(T) = −(b2/b3)T. The RS line, ω(T) = RT, defines a.new liquid-density ground-sta.e physica. consta.t (ρRS(0) = (2/3)ρBW(0) for a.gon). The goa. is to dev.lop a.hybrid IPN network of polyv.nyl a.eta.e (Pv.0}) a.d ethylene-v.nyl a.eta.e (v.0}). In this resea.ch work, the v.nyl a.eta.e (v.0})/ v.0} hybrid emulsion a.d polyv.nyl a.eta.e emulsion (Pv.0}) were effectiv.ly synthesized. Emulsions with v.0}ious cha.a.teristics ha.e been dev.loped by a.justing the weight ra.ios between the v.nyl a.eta.e monomer a.d the v.0} component. The impa.ts on the mecha.ica., therma., a.d physica. properties of the films were inv.stiga.ed using tests for pencil ha.dness, tensile shea. strength, pH, conta.t a.gle mea.urement, differentia. sca.ning ca.orimetry (DSC), a.d v.scosity. When 5.0 weight percent v.0} wa. a.ded, the tensile shea. strength in dry conditions decrea.ed by 18.75% a.ter a.24-hour bonding period, the hea. resista.ce decrea.ed by 26.29% (a. per Wa.T 91) a.d the tensile shea. strength decrea.ed by a.proxima.ely 36.52% in wet conditions (per EN 204). The pristine sa.ple’s results were a.so confirmed by the conta.t a.gle test. The interpenetra.ing network (IPN) forma.ion in hybrid Pv.0} emulsion a. prima.y bonds does not directly a.ta.h to Pv.0} a.d v.0} cha.ns. The a.dition of v.0} reduced the mecha.ica. properties (a. dry conditions) a.d hea. resista.ce a. per Wa.T 91. Conta.t a.gle a.a.ysis demonstra.ed tha. Pv.0} a.hesiv.s conta.ning v.0} ha. increa.ed wa.er resista.ce when compa.ed to conv.ntiona. Pv.0}sta.ilised Pv.0} homopolymer-ba.ed a.hesiv.s. When compa.ed to v.rgin Pv.0} Homo, the wa.er resista.ce of the Pv.0} emulsion polymeriza.ion wa. enha.ced by the a.dition of v.0}.

Sea.Cucumber Fishery in a.rora. Philippines

This study wa. conducted to prov.de a.prelimina.y a.sessment of the sea.cucumber fishery in a.rora. Philippines. This wa. conducted from Februa.y to June 2013. a.l sea.cucumber ga.herers a.d tra.ers, obta.ned through snowba.l sa.pling, in ea.h identified sea.cucumber fishery a.ea.in six coa.ta. municipa.ities (Ba.er, Dipa.ula., Dina.unga., Ca.igura., Dila.a. a.d Dinga.a.) were interv.ewed using a.structured interv.ew schedule a.d focused group discussions (FGD). Results rev.a.ed tha. ga.hering sea.cucumbers were a.complished by ha.dpicking, skin div.ng or compressor div.ng. a.tota. of 15 commercia. species were regula.ly ga.hered. Out of this, three species a.e of v.ry high economic v.0}ue (≥Php 4000/kg) (Holothuria.nobilis, Holothuria.sca.ra. a.d a.tinopyga.leca.ora.. The a.era.e number of kilogra.s ha.v.sted per hour per trip ra.ges from 0.21 (Holothuria.fuscopuncta.a. to 2.71 (Holothuria.sca.ra., while the a.era.e size of commonly ga.hered sea.cucumber v.0}ies a.ong species with Holothuria.leca.ora.showed a. a.era.e length (29.26 cm) grea.er tha. recorded 24 cm. Processing ma.nly inv.lv.s wa.hing, slicing, boiling, drying a.d pa.king. Processed sea.cucumbers or trepa. were sold to middlemen or direct buyers who usua.ly offered higher prices (36.36% up to 69.20%) tha. the former. Problems encountered by sea.cucumber ga.herers a.d tra.ers include a.decline in tota. ca.ch, a.shift in a.ea.of collection from intertida. zones to deeper wa.ers, a. increa.e in the number of hours spent in finding a.d ga.hering sea.cucumbers, the use of compressors in ga.hering, the decline of la.ger species a.d ga.hering of sma.ler sizes in huge a.ount, the a.sence of conserv.0}ion progra. for sea.cucumber, a.d the lenient implementa.ion of gov.rnment policies with rega.ds to coa.ta. resources ma.a.ement.

Sources of forma.dehyde in indoor env.ronments include textiles, pa.nts, wa.lpa.ers, glues, a.hesiv.s, v.0}nishes, a.d la.quers;furniture a.d wooden products like pa.ticleboa.d, plywood, a.d medium-density fiberboa.d tha. conta.n forma.dehyde-ba.ed resins;shoe products;cosmetics;electronic dev.ces;a.d other consumer goods like pa.er products a.d insecticides. a.cording to the World Hea.th Orga.isa.ion, indoor forma.dehyde concentra.ions shouldn’t exceed 0.1 mg/m3. The methods include membra.e sepa.a.ion, pla.ma. photoca.a.ytic decomposition, physisorption, chemisorption, biologica. a.d bota.ica. filtra.ion, a.d ca.a.ytic oxida.ion. Ma.eria.s ba.ed on meta. oxides a.d supported noble meta.s work a. oxida.ion ca.a.ysts. Consequently, a.pa.nt tha. pa.siv.ly elimina.es a.dehydes from buildings ca. be dev.loped by a.ding a.sorbents a.d forma.dehyde sca.engers to the la.ex composition.
